DAI questions! I'm curious to hear about Anwen, but feel free to talk about others too!
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 25!
Thank you for the asks! ^^Answering them took a while but I love rambling about my characters, so here we go : DD
3. Where was your Inquisitor born? Where did they grow up?
Anwen Lavellan mostly grew up in the Free Marches where her clan has been roaming for several years now, moving in the wilderness in between settlements and sometimes trading with them if deemed safe. However I'm thinking she was born somewhere in Orlais because she has memories of the clan camping in a fortress near Tirashan forest. Anwen was a child at the time, and the eerie voices and other mysterious things that some of the clan hunters had noticed in the night both scared and fascinated her.
4. What are your Inquisitor's parents names? Do they have siblings? What are their names?
Anwen's mother Arinna is the clan's Halla Keeper, and her father Theron is a hunter. Anwen doesn't have any siblings, but she's always been very close with her cousin Tris whom she considers to be like a brother to her. When they were children they got into all sorts of little adventures together, including venturing into above mentioned Tirashan forest at night in search of the source of the mysterious voices. They got lost and things could have ended very badly if Theron and other hunters hadn't found them. The kids received a stern lecture after that, but most of all everyone was relieved that nothing bad had happened.
5. How old is your Inquisitor at the start of the game?
24.
6. Where does your Inquisitor like to hang out at Haven?
Depending on her mood she's either hanging out with her companions, or walking somewhere near the lake to be alone with her thoughts. After all, everything that's happened to her at that point is very overwhelming at times and she misses home.
7. Who was your Inquisitor's first friend in the Inquisition?
Varric is very friendly with Anwen from the start and she finds him fun and easy to talk to, so he's her first real friend in the Inquisition. She has also read many of his books so she's excited to discuss them with him, especially the Tale of the Champion.
Early on Anwen also gets well along with Solas; she doesn't fully understand him because he's clearly not Dalish but doesn't seem like a city elf either, so she wonders where exactly he came from, but is very fascinated by his tales and views on spirits, magic, Fade and history, so she enjoys discussing with him. So they get along well but maybe they're not really friends yet at that point, or not at least in the same way she and Varric are.
And when Anwen is introduced to Josephine she immediately likes her, and they become fast friends (and later lovers). With Josie Anwen feels like she's truly seen and accepted for who she is as a person, and Josie also makes her feel secure navigating the strange world of human politics.
17. How did your Inquisitor feel about becoming an Inquisition agent? How did they feel about getting promoted to Inquisitor?
Becoming an Inquisition agent and being hailed as "Herald of Andraste" was very confusing and overwhelming for Anwen, considering that she had simply happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (or right place at the right time?) and she wasn't even Andrastian. But she's always been determined and decided that regardless of what happened, the giant hole in the sky was something that really needed to be dealt with, so better start working on it. Getting promoted to Inquisitor was also something that awakened mixed feelings in her, but at the end of the day she decided that it would be a great opportunity for her to try and change the world while saving it, making it a better and more equal place to live in.
19. How does your Inquisitor dress when they aren't in the field?
While Anwen does use the clothes given to her in Haven and Skyhold (why waste anything?), she prefers to wear Dalish clothing. They remind her of home and feel comfortable and practical to wear.
21. What pet would your Inquisitor have? What would they name it?
Anwen has two harts that she uses as her mounts, and they're her pets/trusty animal companions. Their names are Revas (Freedom) and Enasalin (Victory). Revas is a Red Hart and has been with Anwen since she made the journey to Haven, while Enasalin is Royal Sixteen and was given to her as a gift from her clan after they were saved. Other than her harts, Anwen would probably like having an owl or something like that as a pet, and she'd name it similarly to her harts: an elven word with a fine meaning.
23. What has your Inquisitor been up to between Trespasser and Veilguard? After disbanding the Inquisition, Anwen wanted to go see her clan and took her girlfriends with her so they could meet her family. Everyone loved Josephine and Lace (who wouldn't) and the visit went great. But then it was time to leave again as Josie needed to return to Antiva to take over as the leader of Montilyet family, and Anwen had decided to go with her. It was a mix of emotions for Anwen. On one hand she was happy that she had found amazing partners and was moving in with one of them, and was able to have that happy ending after everything she'd been trough. On the other hand the years she'd been away from her clan had changed her life so much that she didn't feel like returning to them was an option anymore; they would have welcomed her of course, but her home was elsewhere now. And that thought made Anwen a bit wistful. So Anwen moved to Antiva with Josie, which despite the Inquisition years was a huge change for Anwen as Antiva is in many ways very different from Orlais or Ferelden. She also met Josie's family for the first time (save for Yvette who had been at the Winter Ball) and had to adjust to living with many changes: she was not the Inquisitor anymore, she had to learn how to cast spells and go about her daily life with just one hand... It was a lot, but after a while Anwen realized that she was doing great and was happy with her life. Anwen has been traveling too, with Josie, with Lace and with her friends from the Inquisition days. She's been excited to see how they're doing and where they're living now. She exchanges letters with them actively. While the Inquisition has been disbanded and Anwen is officially retired from her position, she does keep tabs on how everything with Solas is going, and is ready to help if needed.
24. If you have more than one Inquisitor, which do you consider your "canon" Inquisitor? Which is your favorite?
Anwen is my canon inky, but I also have two more! Although, even though they're inquisitors in their own playtroughs, in my actual canon they're additional companions and members of Anwen's Inner Circle. They're Lucan Trevelyan and Asherah Adaar. I'm currently nearing the end of Lucan's playtrough, I started it a long time ago but then I paused it to play The Witcher trilogy, and Baldur's Gate 3 ^^" Asherah's playtrough I haven't actually even begun yet, but the character has been cooking in my brain for years.
Lucan Trevelyan is the youngest child of his family, and a sort of a black sheep as he refused both options that his religious parents planned for him, those being A. join the Chantry as a priest or a Templar B. political marriage to strengthen the bonds between the Trevelyans and another noble family. Lucan yearned for travel and adventures, so the life paths that his parents envisioned for him seemed very boring and restricting to him. He's also only attracted to men, so marrying a woman would have forced him to live a lie. And even if that wasn't an issue, he's a dreamer and a romantic who very much wants to choose his own partner. When Lucan heard about the Conclave he volunteered to go as his family's representative and his parents agreed, thinking it was good that he showed an interest in something like that. Mainly Lucan saw it as an opportunity to go abroad and experience something new. Events took way more surprising turn than Lucan could have ever imagined, and soon he found himself in the newly founded Inquisition. There he also met Dorian, the love of his life.
Lucan's class is rogue and specialization Tempest, because he's always been interested in magic despite not being able to cast it himself, so playing around with alchemical potions is a fun alternative to him. Lucan is a sweetheart but also a bit mischievous at times as he really enjoys a good joke. He does not particularly enjoy The Game, but is decent at playing it if needed, and sometimes gives Anwen advice even though she already has Josie helping her with matters of diplomacy. He also readily offers to use Trevelyan connections for the Inquisition's benefit. Asherah Adaar is a reaver of the Valo-kas mercenary company. As I said her story is yet to be played, but I've planned for her to fall in love with Blackwall (a calming presence to balance her boldness and impulsiveness). The name Asherah is a sort of compromise, as I liked the default name Herah but didn't want to go with just that, so I added "ashe" at the beginning since it sounded good. However she often goes by just Herah for short (I don't want to shorten it to Ashe because I already have a Witcher OC by that name ^^")
As for my favorite, I really love all of them but Anwen is the one I've developed the most, so maybe she's my favorite, although I'm pretty fond of Lucan as well.
25. What's one thing you wish your Inquisitor could have done that wasn't an option? (e.g. become Divine, alternate romance, different quest outcome, different region map, etc.) I really wish we could have actually played the mission involving Clan Lavellan, instead of it being just a wartable operation. Like, if the Inquisitor has time to run around Orlais and Ferelden doing fetch quests, they have time to go help their family when they really need it. So I hc that Anwen refused to let others handle it and went there in person with a few people. While things didn't go quite as she wished, her clan was saved and that's the most important thing. I also really wished that Lace Harding would have been a full romance, but then again we are finally getting that in Veilguard so that's great ^^ If Harding had been an actual romance option in DAI I would have likely had Anwen pursue her and that would have been it, but as things were she romanced Josephine (which I loved! Josie is so sweet) and I headcanoned a polyamorous arrangement where Anwen is also with Harding, as I really loved the idea of them together. Another thing I would have wanted to be different was that quest in Exalted Plains where the only way to gain access to that old elven tomb is to desecrate elven graves to find the key. There's no way Anwen would do that. Of course the player doesn't need to enter that place unless you really want that mosaic piece, but I'm pretty much a completionist so I always have to work around that quest to get the loot without upsetting the elves. But still, I think it was a poor planning to design that quest in that way anyway, and I would have liked for there to have been an alternate route. For example, if you gain the trust of the Dalish, the Keeper could give you the key (maybe there would be another quest giving you a proper reason for entering Unadin Grotto in the first place, grave robbing is just not cool).

No one:
me: Is Lucan straight after all?
I mean, it's a moving spectrum, but I've been re-examining pretty much everything about this muse after years of neglect, and this is kind of where I am, at present. If not straight, with passing bi-curious urges, then bisexual/biromantic, heavily preferring women.
The great love of his life (And "the one that got away" despite personally finding that phrase problematic) is and remains the mother of Anthony Trevelyan. But that doesn't mean he can't have other great loves.

Mr. Trevelyan, what are some of your hobbies?
"Work doesn't leave much time for hobbies any more, unless I find activities that just align with work in some way. Does reading and research count? I've been trying to brush up on different languages, lately." Depending on verse, these might be Latin and Spanish (Or Tevene and Nevarran respectively.) He's always had a passion for riding horses. I headcanon that it's in his blood. Through his paternal line his ancestors raised horses for nobility (Iberian horses in his modern verse). I headcanon that Spain is a heavy influence on Nevarra, and the international diplomacy of gifting horses to other nations goes way way back. In most verses, Anthony eventually inherits land and the ranch/vinyard, so just a heads up, I might want to incorporate that in future threads. He also spends time physically training his body, be it magically in other verses, or working out. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, unfortunately Anthony (and Lucan/Lucanus) are quite vain, so working out is important to them.

Small Luxuries
Pairing: Margo Trevelyan x Cullen Rutherford
Warnings: mentions of past neglect. Detailed descriptions of pain of migraines and nausea.
A/N: inspired by the killer on-and-off migraine/bad tension headache that I’ve been dealing with for the past three days. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of it, that would be lovely. This takes place just a few weeks after the Inquisition finds Skyhold. Cullen and Margo are becoming close, but Margo’s still in the habit of assuming she’s on her own when it comes to her own needs. Comments and kudos are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the read and enjoy!
Summary: Margo gets a bit of a wake-up call to start taking better care of herself. Also on AO3.
Margo knew without a doubt when she woke up that morning that the pain would be excruciating by mid-afternoon. The tell-tale tug at the back of her head warned her of an oncoming headache. She flopped onto her back and groaned, letting herself sink into the sheets of her large bed. The fire in her quarters crackled quietly and the sun shone through the large balcony doors. She smacked a hand over her eyes at the way the snow amplified the brightness. She wanted to just roll over and go back to sleep; maybe an extra hour would fight off the migraine she knew was coming. But, if the sun’s position in the sky was anything to judge by, someone would be knocking on her door for the morning meeting soon. She let out a huff of breath and heaved herself out of bed, praying to the Maker that it wouldn’t be as bad as she thought. Slowly, but surely, she began to get dressed and wash up.
She’d always gotten the occasional migraine. She was never sure why; it always just showed up once every few months. It would start off as smaller headaches a couple days before that would never last too long. The first day, it would be a minor ache that only lasted about an hour or so. The second day would be considerably worse, lasting longer, but still bearable. By the third, it would be similar to a tight band squeezing her head with a pinpoint of pain in the very back of her head, right in the center. Her whole body would ache along with it and the nausea it caused would make eating anything too flavorful impossible. She could feel the familiar heaviness of her body and churning of her stomach, despite it’s growls for food.
She watched in a daze as servants nodded to her and set a breakfast tray on her desk. She waited until they left to nibble on some food, but the flavors she usually loved set her stomach churning. She gulped down her water and forced a meager piece of bread down. She gently massaged a knot on the back of her head as she shuffled down the stairs.
Cullen watched Margo shuffle into the war room for the second time today. They’d already held a meeting this morning, but more news from the Western Approach had arrived that needed to be discussed immediately. He frowned as she took her place across from him. If he thought she’d looked unwell this morning, she looked like death now. The Inquisitor was a pale woman anyway, but the usual rosy tint to her cheeks was gone and her eyes were glassy and unfocused. She hadn’t looked completely well the past two days, either. He tried to catch her eye from across the room, but she kept her eyes fixed on the map in front of them.
Leliana and Josephine droned on next to him, but he barely paid attention to a word. Margo’s condition only seemed to worsen as the sun sank lower in the sky. He watched as she swayed and gripped the table for what had to be the tenth time, blinking profusely. He scowled; how could the other two women just keep going like they weren’t even noticing anything?
Finally—finally—Margo met his gaze. Her large, ocean-colored eyes were hazy and unfocused. She struggled to keep them open as she leaned heavily on the table. He tilted his head towards the door in a silent question, but she seemed to stare straight through him. She looked exactly like he felt when his lyrium withdrawal was hitting him hard. His heart hammered in his chest. Was she not eating enough? Or was it problems sleeping? Or maybe she was even dehydrated—
She fell to the ground with a sudden thud, drawing a gasp from Josephine. Cullen rushed to her side, vaguely aware of the two women hovering over him. He ripped off a glove, his mind going a hundred directions at once, and felt her pulse. It felt normal under his fingers, but that did little to relieve him.
Before he could say anything, Leliana said, “Josie, go get a healer. I’ll distract the nobles in the hall if you can get her to her quarters, commander.”
Cullen swallowed thickly and nodded before hoisting her up into his arms. How long had she not been taking care of herself? She got cold so easily that it was hard to tell if she was too thin under all the layers she wore around Skyhold. She looked tired frequently, so that could also pose a problem. His mind went through all the possible problems and solutions as he carried her through Josephine’s empty office. One of Leliana’s scouts stood by the door and nodded to him, opening the door.
“All clear, ser,” he said quietly. “Sister Nightingale says to move quickly.”
Cullen nodded, glancing down at the limp woman in his arms. The nobles made a ring around Leliana and Varric on the other side of the hall. He could hear gasps and laughter as the guards opened the doors to Margo’s quarters and Cullen slipped inside unnoticed.
A familiar voice guided Margo back to consciousness. She could feel soft sheets beneath her body, wincing as the pain in the back of her head screamed its ugly welcome.
“…be all right?” Cullen’s voice said from nearby.
“I believe so,” one of the healers, Vara, said from her opposite side. “She has no signs of fever. We’ll have to wait until she wakes to get a better idea of what’s wrong.”
Footsteps, then Cullen’s voice again: “Tell Cook to make her a strew or soup or something that’s easy on her stomach, maybe some bread, too. And plenty of water, maybe some herbal tea…”
Margo could practically feel Vara rolling her eyes at Cullen’s fretting. She would’ve been blushing if she didn’t feel like her head was about to explode. She slowly opened her eyes, blinking away the blurriness until Vara came into focus.
“Inquisitor?” she asked softly.
“Margo!” Cullen rushed to her side, making the bed bounce as he sat. She winced at the movement and he frowned. “Maker, I’m so sorry—”
“Cullen,” she rasped, rubbing her head. “Loud.”
Quietly, so that the gravel in his voice came out, he muttered, “I’m sorry.” Despite her pain, she couldn’t help but feel butterflies in his stomach at how his voice had deepened.
“Inquisitor, can you tell us how you’re feeling?” Vara asked softly.
“…Head hurts,” she finally managed, moving to massage the back of her head.
“Does it hurt where you’re rubbing?”
“Yes.”
“Is that all that hurts? How long has it been hurting?”
Margo did her best to answer Vara’s questions through the pain that was slowly encompassing her entire skull. She could feel Cullen’s eyes on her as she told Vara about her frequent problems with migraines.
Vara motioned for her to sit up and she groaned. She slowly propped herself up on her elbows, pausing to rub at her forehead as the room spun.
“Just a little more, Inquisitor,” Vara intoned softly.
“I’ve got you,” Cullen murmured, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her to his chest. Margo let her head fall onto his shoulder, his fur mantle cushioning her face. She would’ve felt embarrassed at her forwardness if she could see straight.
Vara’s hands felt along the back of her neck and shoulders. Margo glanced towards Cullen as he kept a secure arm around her shoulders, noting the flush that had creeped along his face and neck.
“Andraste—” the healer muttered before withdrawing her hands. “You’ve got knots everywhere, especially in the back of your neck. Probably what’s causing the majority of the headaches. I’ll go grab a salve that someone will need to rub on your back and neck that will help the knots come loose. You should do this for a week—and no hunching or strenuous activity. That will only make things worse…” She trailed off as she stood and thumped down the stairs. “I’ll be right back. Don’t move!”
There was no need for her to keep leaning against Cullen, but the way he absently rubbed her back felt divine. She quietly inhaled his scent before turning her face towards him. “Thank you…”
“Of course,” he replied, careful to keep his voice low. “You should really take better care of yourself, Inquisitor.”
“Look who’s talking,” she mumbled against his shoulder, closing her eyes.
He scoffed. “I mean it. Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
“I wasn’t really planning on collapsing.”
“You know what I mean.”
“I’ve always gotten these since I was small. They’ve never been bad enough to make me faint, so I just assumed it would hurt and then be over by tomorrow morning. Back in Ostwick, before the Circle, no one really seemed to care about it. I think they all just thought I was being dramatic minus Lucan. He went and got the healer sometimes, but the most they did was give me tea. It’s never been this bad before, but I wasn’t aware the knots were as bad as they were.”
“You’re hunching over reports too often.” Cullen shifted and she felt his stubble scrape against her cheek. “And probably not eating, drinking and sleeping enough. You need to be more careful.”
“Yes, Mother.”
“Margo…” he sighed, but she could hear the smile in his voice.
She tilted her head to meet his gaze, noting his own dark circles. “If I have to start taking better care of myself, so do you.”
“Inquisitor, please, don’t worry about me—”
“That’s the deal.”
“Margo—”
She gave a wry smile through the throbbing in her head. “Going once…going twice…”
He chuckled, his warm breath fanning her face. “Fine.” He shook his head. “You’re impossible.”
The haze in her head clouded her judgement as she smiled blearily up at him. “You still love me though.”
His hand froze where it was rubbing smooth circles on her back. He stared at her with an odd expression, half surprise, half something she couldn’t identify.
She felt heat flood her face as she realized what she’d said. The commander was still staring at her oddly. “I mean, I wasn’t—I didn’t—well, not like that obviously…” She groaned and buried her face in his mantle. “I’m sorry, my brain’s not working right now…”
After a moment’s pause, he gave his quiet response, “It’s all right.”
She knew she should pull away, but his hand on her back and the warmth of his fur drew her to burrow further into his shoulder. She would probably be embarrassed about this tomorrow, but for now, she would allow herself this small luxury.

About/ Verses
Lucan Paulo
Modern Verse-
Height 6’2 Age- 38- 45 (verse dependent) Sign: Leo Build- muscular role - Top- dom Sexuality - Bisexual (heavily male leaning) Job title- P.R. Manager - (later, movie producer) Lucan has been independent and image conscious all his life, but that increased ten-fold when his parents split and his mother sent him to school in the States.. In short, presenting a polished appearance gives him a sense of control. He takes after his outgoing, flashy, regal, mother- her focus on looks and luxury. He also has her hidden sense of kindness, and a moral compass that is a little beaten and bent, but functional despite some creative interpretation. He has a tense relationship with his father, and often travels to Spain to visit- if only to help manage the wineyard/winery and ranch of his family's estate. While in college, he met one of the great loves of his life, Druscilla Trevelyan (dru bennet depending on verse), which whom he had a son, that he is now largely estranged from. However, he maintains a lifelong friendship with Dru to this day, despite his son's disapproval. Hobbies - Working out, reading. Horseback riding. His family has bred Iberian horses, which has linked their family with Spanish royalty, the Royal Spanish stud, and diplomacy for generations and thus has an extensive knowledge of breeding and genealogy as well. Lucan is a cat person, owning a serval hybrid (savannah cat) named Monkey.
Verses- to be exapanded later
Dragon Age AU, potterverse AU (fuck jkr), LOTR AU, DC/Marvel AU as follows:Dragon age AU-Lucanus Paulo Age, born in the year (unknown) Astrological sign - Unknown Mortalitasi (Death Mage) of Nevarra. Advisor to King Markus, a man of advanced years and ailing mental faculties. He met a noblewoman of Ostwick from the Trevelyan family and fathered a son they named Antoniz (Anthony in Ostwick). He made a somewhat earnest attempt to help rear the child, and he spent time between the Free Marches and Nevarra in his youth, but Lucanus largely kept the boy at arm's length emotionally. It was a horrible strike of luck that the boy was revealed to be a mage once in Ostwick and sent to the Circle to live under Chantry rule. Were his magical talent to be discovered in Nevarra, he would have lived freely and Lucanus would (eventually) taken him under his wing, tutored him and perhaps even induct him into the Mortalitasi Order. Alas, it was not the case, and Lucanus grew to take an interest in his son at last, if from afar, and mainly the accounts his spies relayed to him about the boy's progress. Meanwhile Lucanus continues to advise the king for as long as his reign lasts. Having no successors, the future of Nevarra remains uncertain. To say that the transition of power will be bloody is a vast understatement, and Lucanus has many contingencies planned to ensure the Nevarra remains strong, is not re-subsumed into Tevinter or the Marches, and that mages remain free at least in this small pocket of the world not controlled by Tevinter. Lucanus takes an especially keen pride in Nevarra's necropolis, finding comfort in the grand city of the dead, its macabre moaning gardens and ornate streets. Spirits have often whispered that Lucanus is destined for a premature death, which hampers his investment in his own life even as he works towards posterity and his country's future.
Hogwarts AU (to be expanded later) Lucan (Lucanus) Paulo was named so when his parents partook in the time-honored, yet somewhat infamous practice of taking their child to a Name Seer who read the baby's future, and likened his fate to that of Marcus Annaeus Lucanus , a friend of Nero who was killed for criticizing his dictatorship. It just so happens that early death seems to strike many males in the Paulo family line, (and perhaps that is why Lucan is often distant with his son, no matter the world or timeline). LOTR AU “Kings built tombs more splendid than the houses of the living and counted the names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords sat in aged halls musing on heraldry or in high cold towers asking questions of the stars. And so the kingdom of Gondor sank into ruin, the line of kings failed, the white tree withered and the rule of Gondor was given over to lesser men. ” Lucanus's family is of Gondor, and has been long tasked with the overseeing of the tombs of the great city. Lucan's line extends to the founding of Arnor, and yet is somewhat sullied and infamous for several of his line abandoning the city in favor of becoming 'Black Numenoreans' and practicing black magic. Despite the passing of an age, the whispers follow Lucanus to this day to the point that Lucanus has sent his wife and son away.
DC, Marvel AU Dc- Lucan is largely similar to his "modern verse" but he is a pure or almost pure homo-magi who specializes in a blend of urban and death magic, which he has passed onto his son.

Amos made it to Skyhold. ;u; Though after Haven, he’s going through some pretty heavy self doubt. Plus being put in the position where he couldn’t exactly turn down becoming Inquisitor, wasn’t his idea of a good time either. He’s lost and scared but feels like he can’t openly show it. (Bottling up those feelings and trying to bury them. Worst coping method but right now it feels like the only viable one.)

Random Amos pics. He’s finished cleaning out the Fallow Mire. So quick breather back at Haven, then onto the Storm Coast. After that it’s going to be a trip to Val Royeaux, then over to Redcliffe. Boy’s got a busy time ahead of him.

Lucanus Paulo Anthony Trevelyan Bann Lady Druscilla Trevelyan Or Lucan Paulo Anthony Paulo Druscilla Bennet I’m considering making Anthony a bastard in his modern verse as well. Not like he even remembers when his parents were married anyway. He’d be thrown for a loop if his dad adopted him and made him legitimate in the end anyway, like ‘you fucking kidding me??’ Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but Thedas doesn’t practice male primogeniture do they? If so, my entire headcanon falls apart lol.
