Favorite Characters Of 2022
While I've already touched on art that touched me this year, I wanted to talk about some of the characters who I really resonated with. I am a character focused writer, I run character focused TTRPG sessions, I love characters. There is obviously a ton of characters I really loved in a year but I am keeping it to 10 because that is the list standard. Shoutouts to Bridget Guilty Gear who has brought me a ton of a joy in 2022 but doesn't have a ton narratively. Anyway, let's begin!
Zagan [Dead End: Paranormal Park]
Zagan may be a minor villain in Dead End but she stole my little lesbian heart right away. At the end of season 1 she serves as a great villain for a light hearted kids show raising the level of stakes while also not being jarring. Then in season 2 we get some Zagan queerness and we get some depth to her as we start to humanize the demons a bit more at the face of the actually evil angels. I think she is perfectly used and I would love to see her and Norma date.
Shirayui [Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games]
I like it when a girl can get a bit ugly, and Shirayui can get a little ugly in a delightful way. This passionate fighting gamer is a little gamer goblin, she is rowdy, loves destroying people at fighting games and wants a worthy foe. It's great seeing her maintain her image as a perfect lady while then going sicko mode whenever she gets a chance to do what she actually loves, playing a fighting game. Shirayui is charming and is a perfect example of portraying women in ways that just don't really happen in media. Like this kind of personality would normally either be a goof that she like "acts like a man" but she is toxic in lots of great ways that don't feel like a dude character. I love her and as far as I know she doesn't kill her rival and that is sad.
Ashuna [Executioner And Her Way of Life]
We love a jocky lesbian in this house and Ashua is peak shimbo material. She is shockingly smart when she needs to be but is otherwise all about battling and good fights and she is just fun. Sometimes a character is just fun to watch, every time she would show up on screen I'd cheer. Her blooming relationship with Momo is really good and I think it adds more to her character. Ashua isn't deep but she is perfectly executed in her own story.
Falis [Murder Princess]
This was a surprise hit of the year; when I was with April to jam about Thirsty Sword Lesbians: Falling Deeper and stuff we ended up watching this anime she remembered from when she was a kid and it was so much then I had expected and she remembered. Falis is just a very cool character, a woman who is just kinda badass but kind to her friends is rare. She is really well balanced in being a responsible person to having selfish desires to be a badass warrior to being a loyal friend in a way that makes her feel really human. It's rare for women to be written in the way Falis is and I really want to see more badass sword lesbian types in the future.
Also her stuff around the body swap with the princess is great and I think her coming into her own as a princess, kind of proving a commoner should be in charge is fun.
Rae Taylor [I'm In Love With The Villainess]
I thought I would hate Rae with her lack of boundaries but she's really captured me, as if I was a marriage candidate in a yuri dating sim. I think Rae may be on a list again next year, I own vol 3 of the manga and just need to read it, the anime is coming and there is just a lot that I'll be diving into for this wonderful lesbian. Rae went from a woman who didn't really get boundaries to showing her true emotional depths from a hint of her trauma from her previous life and to defining her sexuality and even challenging her crush Clair's homophobia.
Plus she has such a fun imagination watching her plans come out and either fail in funny ways or succeed in amazing ways is a really nice experience. I think she might be one of Yuri's best characters but I'll reserve my judgment until I read it all.
Poison Ivy [Harley Quinn Animated]
Poison Ivy is one of the best villains ever created because she is just a better person in every way then the hero in like 90% of stories the other 10% are like stories where they just decide she is a fash or wants to kill all humans for no reason. Ivy is a really fun character to have around and the more Daria esc version of Ivy works well for the show. Season 3 had her figuring out how she wants to define herself and coming into more of that big time villain side that I enjoy at the face of like the Super Heroes who represent the status quo.
I am really excited to see what Season 4 makes of her and where the future for her character in the best DC universe ever made stands
Sabi Mehboob [Sort Of]
Trans sapphics of color are so rare in basically all media but Sort Of gives of Sabi as the main character. We see a connection to Sabi's culture, to her former religion, her relationship to a family with considerably more wealth then her, her relationship to her best friend, her relationship to her ex, her relation to her own family, all in one season. I haven't started season 2 because I unsubbed from HBO Max but when I get a chance to watch Sort Of Season 2 I am really excited. Sabi is a deeply relatable character and seeing the start of a budding romance with another trans woman took her over the edge to being one of the most relatable characters I've ever seen.
As a trans lesbian of color myself, seeing other queer trans women on TV is basically a thing that never happens let alone a trans woman of color showing desire for other women let alone the glorious power of T4T romance. It is really nice and really great and Sabi is just an amazing mess and I hope her life turns around.
Monica [Fire Emblem: Three Hopes]
I'm a simple girl, I see a woman homosexually devoted to another woman and I stan. Monica is Fire Emblems second canon lesbian character. She is in some ways a character whose sexuality defines her but I really don't care. She is clearly deeper then that, she has her political position, her support for the revolution, her affection for Doretha, her rivalry with Hubert all of which make her a wonderful character. Plus she is just really fun to play as.
Úrsula [Los Espookys]
Ursula is a rare W for me where I see a character and go "She seems like she is a lesbian" and it is totally confirmed at some point. Ursula in season 2 of Los Espooky's is just like so many of my friends. Queer Latnix Zinester indie queer wanting to make the world a better place. Her subdued personality makes for some solid jokes and while she is often the "straight man" to a lot of jokes she is still funny in her own right from her utterly resisting brainwashing to her determination bouncing off the weirdos of the world, I love her.
Suletta [Gundam: The Witch From Mercury]
This little bisexual disaster is one of the most endearing characters ever written. She is so sweet, kind and has such a strong sense of justice. Her bound to Mio, her friends, her mother an Ariel are all extremally endearing and I just want to see her be happy. While we don't know where things will go for her in season 2, season 1 Sulleta brought me joy every single time she was on screen and in almost all her fan art. It's rare to see a darker skin sapphic character in fiction, in particular in anime and that's just a small extra part of the whole package which makes her so perfect. It's amazing to watch her battle and it'll be fun to learn more and more about her over time.

Do you like top 10 lists, you want me to write some more, let me know what kind of top 10s you wanna see and hey, maybe I'll write some. If you want to see characters I write you can check out my Carrd.

The camp aesthetic isn't dead. It's just doing what it's always done, waiting to be found and appreciated outside the mainstream of year-end lists and algorithms. Below, I've made a list of some prolific creators I see keeping it alive with two camp principles as guidance (apologies to Susan):
"Camp: doing more than is necessary with less than what you need." Zadie Smith, "Mark Bradford's Niagra"
"Decorative, 'amusing,' 'good theater,' witty in the right way, and likely to make heterosexual relationships look ridiculous." J.B. Priestley, "Block Thinking"
Julio Torres: the Salvadorian-American surrealist formerly of SNL
Los Espookys: a friend group uses special effects to fake paranormal activity to help rich people and government officials avoid their problems Problemista: an aspiring toy-maker must work for an art-world outcast played by Tilda Swinton to keep his visa Fantasmas: in a surreal NYC, Julio encounters a bunch of different people as he searches for a lost diamond oyster earring
Jojo Tichakorn: the Thai party-fiend with a love for the 90s and y2k
3 Will Be Free: Throuple escaping the mafia Mama Gogo: former diva inherits a male strip bar and has to make it successful The Warp Effect: High-schooler figures out what happened the night he blacked out when he wakes up ten years in the future Only Friends: Thai redux of Queer as Folk, updated for the current era The Heart Killers: Adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You and Taming of The Shrew but with gay hitmen and BDSM
Nida Manzoor: the Pakistani-British romantic punk feminist
Enterprice: two young entrepreneurs, Kazim and Jeremiah, try to escape the South London hustle and get their business, Speedi-kazz, off the ground We Are Lady Parts: an anxious med-student, Amina, finds herself drawn into an all-muslim punk girl band Polite Society: when her sister decides to give up on her dream and get married, teenager Ria tries to save her, Bollywood action-movie style
Cheewin Thanamin: gender-fluid Thai director making cringe euphoric
Make It Right: the queer messy love stories of a gaggle of highschool boys Secret Crush on You: an underdog friend group helps one member deal with his obsessive habits as he falls for a popular jock Bed Friend: A private guy has a one night stand with a casanova coworker he hates Playboyy: Investigating a missing twin, a pair of friends find themselves sucked off into the sex-work industry
Kunihiko Ikuhara: none of us knows what exactly it means
Revolutionary Girl Utena: girl arrives at a mysterious high school and has to sword fight her way to a girlfriend Penguindrum: saved from the brink of death by a spirit in a hat, a girl's brothers must repay their debt by retrieving a 'drum' with the help of some penguins Yurikuma Arashi: Two girl bears disguise themselves as humans and sneak over the city wall to enroll in school Sarazanmai: A musical in which a spirit that sucks souls out of anuses recruits three boys to help stop package theft
Kenny Ortega: gay white American brings camp to the kids on Disney Channel & Netflix Hocus Pocus: the annual favorite about the rebirth of the kid-killing Sanderson sister witches into a 90s suburban neighborhood High School Musical 1, 2, 3: How can a boy possibly like basketball and musical theater at the same time without ruining society? The Descendants 1, 2, 3: Made-for-tv cinemusicals about the children of Disney villains Julie and the Phantoms: lonely teenage girl without a mom forms a band with some gay ghost boys
Manolo Caro: Mexican showrunner who believes telenovelas can be even queerer
House of Flowers: a family reckons with their secrets and a faltering flower shop after the patriarch's passing Someone Has to Die: a conservative family in Franco regime Spain recalls their son from Mexico for an arranged marriage only to find he's brought a male dancer along as his companion Once Upon a Time (Happily Never After): musical comedy about reincarnated lovers who must fall in love to save a town's love lives Holy Family: the bond amongst a group of mothers turns dangerous as someone's past starts to catch up to them
#there are others too! feel free to add your own in reblogs :)#tired of seeing people mourning#queer new cinema#queer new wave#gregg araki#but i'm a cheerleader#my own private idaho#priscilla queen of the desert#john waters#queer cinema#velvet goldmine#to wong foo thanks for everything julie newmar#todd haynes#pedro almodóvar#i'd add Michaela Coel's Chewing Gum and Katori Hall's P-Valley to this list if they had more shows with the same level of camp#Japan also has a good number of campy BLs but very few writers or directors who are working consistently in that style

GET FED 🫵
🪷 🌷🌻
*deep inhale and rubs hands before setting them on a podium* BLESS, SEI, BECAUSE WE ABOUT TO DROP SOME LORE.
🪷 What's your self-insert or F/O like? Do you think they'd be seen as naturally compatible?
Since my self-insert is literally just me, Lunae's shy at first but once she get comfy with you, she opens up like hell. She's Puerto Rican too, so while sweet, she can get spicy. She's more introverted and tend to be in her shell. She's a nonsorcerer, but she can still see/sense the, as they are hilariously called, "espookies" (cursed spirits/ghosts)
Satoru Gojo is extroverted and he's the modern age's strongest sorcerer. Famous among the jujutsu world, but nonsorcerers don't know. He was the first in a long time to inherit Limitless and Six Eyes (400 years, if I remember correctly) and head of his clan. I can always copy and paste from his wiki, but more about his dropped too. He's always so busy that he doesn't have a full sleep schedule or time to take care of himself.
They're opposites, so you would think they're aren't compatible. But somehow, they just work. Satoru's been seen as a weapon for practically his life, something he knows, and it breaks Lunae's heart. To him, it's probably a strange feeling to have someone look at him like a person because all she wants is him to be happy.
🌷When does your self-insert come into the story? Is your selfship established before the events of the source?
Lunae just comes into the story kinda off-screen, if you will. She works at a restaurant and she was just rushing to get out of work to go home before accidentally bumping into Satoru (literally) while he was with his students. She caught his eye and he became curious about her and the next day, he sought her out.
The selfship becomes established just before the events of Shibuya and I kick canon in the teeth my man didn't die in the fight against Sukuna but he was out for the count to recover
🌻Does your self-insert or F/O go through any character development throughout the story?
Lunae learned about the sorcerer world through Satoru, but he does try to keep her separate from it. He's lost people he cared about already and doesn't want to lose more. She becomes more vocal about what upsets or worries her instead of keeping it in and she does sometimes get reckless when it comes to Satoru because she will snap off (in Spanish usually) in his defense--he thinks it's hilarious. She becomes maternal toward his students and encourages them to enjoy their youth, something she knows Satoru cares about. I don't know of that counts, but it do happen.

Saltburn (2023)
by Emerald Fennell
My dear readers,
I know it seemes like I abandoned you, but lately I really felt no need to write about a film, that would capture a certain Zeitgeist or some surprise to me. I wanted to write about the show "los espookys" by the creators Julio Torres, Ana Fabrega, Fred Armisen, a mexian-american comedy tv, which really made me pass this quite depressing winter in Berlin. But los espookys felt more like a warm, fresh bread, that I could snack at a sunny day, so I might write about it on a better day.
Today we gonna talk about the highly controversially labeled film Saltburn, directed by Emerald Fennell, who directed as well the masterpiece "Promising young women". You might remember this heavy, metoo themed vendetta film, with the amazing violine version of Britney Spears "Toxic".
Saltburn is a film about a guy namend Oliver enrolling in oxford, starting to be obsesses with everybod¥s darling Felix. Felix, coming from a wealthy background gets tricked by Oliver into a friendship and after Oliver's father dies, Felix invites him to spent the summer at his castle in Saltburn. Living with Felix rich, aristocratic family and their flaws, Felix adapts easily with the new won luxury lifestyle and his obsession with Felix seems to grow, ending up with shocking scenes, that didn't seem to shock me at all and clearly seemed like intended provocative gestures from the director to get prices.
I won't spoiler to much here about the storyline to follow for the ones, who would like to see it and focus on the further part on my critic.
So the film starts building up with heavy color grading during the oxford times, it reminds of middle 2k format drama shows and keeps rolling up to arthouse typical shots, with intense skies in the background, different camera angles, close ups reminding of advertisement and homo erotica ala Abercombie ans Fitch. But it continues to pave its way into a forced horror shots, there are to many different genre laps in this thriller. We are dealing with such an overlap of genres, that trough the moving pictures we encounter, we get lost in the storyline. Till the first middle part of the film ( and the film is asslong) we develop an understanding of the world Oliver entered, being an outsider at Oxford. feelings of less worth trough class dividence till the mood is entirely changed and Olivers live at Saltburn reminds more of a Wes Anderson themed kill the rich format, critical wannabe but not critical at all. The portrayal of the riches and their misery Emerald is clearly missing, by still showing their glamour and their fresh "bed sheets" (a metaphor) trough the lense of a beautifully placed camera setting. Here a few examples:
So being rich is aesthetically pleasing seems like especially with scenes of Felix. the rich kid, depicted in perfect lightning, while the shots of oliver are always creepy and bizarre ( like i try not to spoiler here, you have to figure out why i say creepy, and by that i mean specifically him WATCHING, what you will understand while watching the film). Anyways the film ends with a portrayal of the riches being the poor ones and the middle class being super evil, but i wont elaborate here not to spoiler.
I think the performances of Barry Keohghan ( you might remember him from "the killing of a sacred deer" by Yorgos Lanthimos), Jacob Elordi (Priscilla by Sophia Coppola) and Archie Madekwe ( Midsommar by Ari Aster) were well played. Every character had their development, from Oli ( Barry Keohghan) starting as a loser, becoming more popular and later actually evil, to Felix ( Jake Elordi) starting as the nice guy towards the spoiled brat, that really thinks the world is made for him and he believes to be a good guy, to Farleigh ( Archie Madekwe) starting as a bully, changing towards loosing and winning and loosing in this societal game, and having as the only character at the end of the film of this male characters dominated film, complicated feelings of loss and pain.
So I think the film itself lost thou its pace. It started off like a high school drama college mid 2k, continued to arthouse sway and ended with a film, that seemed like it rather was a tv show not a film. I felt as if the director made wrong decisions towards the end. While the pace was very slowly in the beginning till the middle. the end of the film and therefor the resolution just happened to quick. I wonder how important the role of the budget was to finish it, since if you watch the film, and made films, you can only imagine how high the rentals for this castle as well as the hundreds of extras costed, if you consider this party scene. So i look it up now.
"The film reportedly had a $20 million (£18.4m) budget. Details on Saltburn's production costs remain under wraps, but it's estimated to have had a budget between $10 million and $38 million" ( google search)
Also for the ones of you who are interested what the actors and actresses earned here's https://www.showbizgalore.com/saltburn-cast-salary/
So yeah phu, I guess and this is my true honest opinion, because I believe in Emerald Fennel as a filmmaker ( love love love promising young woman), that she had probably dreamed of megacake, like the ones my friend B does, what are they called, oh yeah, MAXIMALIST CAKES. They look amazing, lashy, rich, and its really about the cover, but the inside is not as much interesting as the decour. So Emerald Fennel created a very superficial portrayal of the riches, its trying to be an eat the rich film, but it makes the middle class look scary and and its message is just loosing the point, but we have intense pictures, lots of color grading, like they did good, also the camerawork was trying literally the whole alphabet of lense operations in there. I think their money ran out and they had to finish it. So we are left with an unsatisfying speedy end, i dont believe any of this. but hey its a film.
Like it's not that deep as it wants to be. sorry Emerald, I know you can do better.
see you around

While this is certainly not everything that's been canceled from the dozens of streaming services and platforms available, I will most likely update this particular list as we enter 2023 further. It is pretty sad to say goodbye to a show and characters that we've either started to love (or hate) or have loved (or hated) for some time. Hopefully, that is the end of what I've called mass cancelation. Regardless, I hope everyone has a remarkable 2023!
Think I'm missing something, or is something listed in error? Feel free to let me know!

First drawing of 2019/last drawing of 2019
Other highlights of this year:
Took a trip to Sedona, AZ and fell the fuck in love with it
For the first time I worked hard to get a job and got the job, and then I worked hard to get a full-time transfer and got the transfer, and it's fulfilling and sometimes fun and I think I deserve to feel proud of what I've accomplished there
Kinda started being assimilated into a new friend group? Idk I still don't really feel like I can call any particular individual a friend but. I have this terrible aversion to oranges, like the smell and the taste and I showed up to hang out with this group the other day, and the girl who answered the door was like, "WAIT. SHIT. HANG ON." bc everyone was eating oranges and they all rushed to cover up the smell before I came in. She was apparently spraying paint primer all around the room 😂 It was goofy and incredibly touching
Went to flamecon for the second year in a row, which was an absolute DELIGHT and I met some fantastic artists
Cooked my first Thanksgiving turkey
Came out publicly as bi, to EVERYONE except my dad, for no reason other than that I really don't want to have a serious conversation about my life with him
Favorite books of 2019:
-Gideon the Ninth
-The Lost Coast
-Her Body And Other Parties
Favorite podcasts:
-The Magnus Archives
-The Far Meridian
-Caravan
Favorite TV shows:
-Russian Doll
-The Expanse
-Los Espookys
Also
I take better care of my hair these days and I found glasses that fit my face, but tbh I think mostly I look the same

dear festividder letter
Hello, dear Festividder! Thank you so much for signing up to make me a vid! <3 Long story short, I will be absolutely delighted by a vid on any subject in any of these fandoms. If you already have an idea for one of them, please run with it! If you’re looking for more inspiration, read on.
Historical Farm: If you'd rather focus on one of the series instead of the whole canon, please do. I would be overjoyed to see any of the individual series vidded, but I’m especially into Victorian Farm. Stoked on:
Peter Ginn/Alex Langlands…! *sobs into my obscure RPS beer*
Ruth Goodman-- As A Person, And As A Historian Of Women’s Work a) she is so smart and passionate and practical and KIND and adorable and no-nonsense?? b) “Flippin’ heck!!” c) Her work reconstructing the particulars of historic domestic life, and then communicating her experience to a popular audience in her books/shows/other work. I JUST THINK IT’S NEAT.
The sense of wonder and excitement on the show; the passion the whole team has for Exactly This Thing They’re Doing (sensory research as lightweight time-travel!)
Hustlers: SUCH A FUN MOVIE. I am particularly excited about Destiny/Ramona, including flavors of:
They Are In Love
The Family They Build Together (that christmas scene!!!)
Stealing Money In A Found Family Way!
Destiny’s insecurity/abandonment issues
Ramona’s compulsion to save every lost young woman she meets (and how that’s emphatically not always a good thing for either party)
That wonderfully fucked-up Power Dynamic that Destiny/Ramona have got going on?? With the age gap and the mentor/mentee and the hero worship and the mothering vibes… don’t look at me. I love it.
Los Espookys: THIS SHOOOWW! The dry humor! The magical realism/whimsy of it all! It is so comforting and weird and gay and sweet. I love the way it’s dually-subtitled and makes jokes that work bilingually. I love:
The entire ensemble Doing Shenanigans and being best friends
Andres’ Whole Life Journey from childhood to water-demon to not getting married
Renaldo’s sweet heart
Gregoria Santos #8
Ursula
The Farewell: This movie made me cry in a big, life-affirming way. The familial relationships, the questions of duty + the ethics of care, the vulnerability of people to each other. Grief and mundanity and laughter all existing together. Nai Nai was totally charismatic, such a magnetic wonderful full person with an amazing screen presence.
True Detective S3: I would be really into a vid that centers on Wayne Hays in any kinda way, including but not limited to:
Time slippage with the past and the present bleeding into each other uncomfortably. Memory loss; Wayne holding on with a death grip to the last scraps of what he feels makes him himself, and ultimately being forced to let go of it. Wayne facing his own death; reckoning with everything he’s been and done. His traumas, his failures. His complex relationships to his wife, his kids, and Roland.
I am really enamored of the symbolism in the opening credits— the setting sun representing Wayne and the moon representing Amelia. Plus it’s just beautiful and nifty how all the landscape + people images are superimposed on each other.
Hamlet (2009): I love this Hamlet!! I’m very into the set design and the cinematography-- they were not afraid to use Every Single Tool at their disposal, which came from a cool mix of theater and film. I’m interested in any take you could possibly vid from this source. Some areas of interest:
“madness”— especially the places where it overlaps with criminality, resistance, and protest.
Surveillance
Sexy Sexy Angsty David Tennant Hamlet
Hamlet Is A Sexist Jerkwad
Opheliaaaaa
due South: This is my main fandom right now. I’m very very invested. A few of many ideas:
An Elaine Besbriss vid would make my entire life!! I love her so much.
More generally, a Women of due South vid!!
My OTP is Fraser/Kowalski
But I also have massive amounts of fun shipping Fraser with everyone else conceivable, so.

Super Short Reviews: Spring / Summer TV part 3
Super Short Reviews Spring / Summer TV part 3:
Undercover (Netflix) – Inspired by true events. When you think of beautiful Belgium, do you think … Ecstasy ? Probably not. But thats where most of it comes from, and these nice detective folks are in it for the loooooooooong haul. And I do mean long, cuz the pacing in the first episode tuned me out. Gentleman Jack (HBO) – British and period enough to attract any Anglophile, but the subject matter is acutally more LGBTQ. Based on the coded diaries of Anne Lister, who kept detailed accounts of her affairs with other women, and her attempts to run her family home. Good good good. Abyss (Netflix) – Korea. Super cute, and I even laughed a few times (which is saying a lot for a foreign language show since your eyes are always split between the faces and the action and the subtitles.)
Perpetual Grace Ltd. (Epix) – This is so unique and bizarre it also gets a “show of the summer” award. The cast list alone should make you want to watch: Ben Kingsley, Jacki Weaver, and Luis Guzman. It’s a con game that goes oh so so SO wrong and you really have no idea who to root for but who cares, because you really just want to know what strange thing or character is going to appear next.
The Society (Netflix) – Schadenfreude!!! I hope I have time to go back and watch the rest of all these spoiled teenagers get their due. I don’t even care if they figure out which twilight zone episode they are in. On a side note, can someone explain to me how tv show high schools have football teams when there are never enough people to actually play??? Florida Girls (Pop) – Redneck tv at its finest. You’re definitely laughing AT these gals. Already got a second season. Pandora (CW) – This is fun! Its like Star Trek / Gate University for YA viewers. Thumbs up for that age group. I Hear You (Netflix) – China. I think this is supposed to be a comedy? Or at least, the situation is ridiculous and the characters act like children or cartoons. Very YA – even more PG than a Hallmark romance. Years and Years (HBO) – UK. And you thought Black Mirror was disturbing? This is honest and crazy and real and still British humour funny. Watch it if you still have HBO. Trinkets (Netflix) – This is like If the Breakfast Club girls had met in a shoplifters support group. Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, and Quintessa Swindell are all fantastically likable. Huge YA thumbs up. Pearson (USA) – Gina Torres leaves NY corporate law (SUITS) to spin off to the dark ugly brown Chicago Mayor’s Office. Fun!! The story lines are good, but I lost patience for Ms. Pearson’s attitude rather quickly. Smug Smug Smug UGH. Good Omens (Amazon) – BINGE ALERT. Michael Sheen and David Tennant literally sparkle with glee as they bring Neil Gaiman’s world to television life. And is there anyone better suited than Frances McDormand to play “God” ? I loved every second of it. What / If (Netflix) – I adored Jane Levy in SUBURGATORY and im glad to see her get a chance to show off her dramatic chops. But Renee Zellweger smirking, squinting her eyes, and crossing her super skinny legs does not a PLOT make. This is trying really hard to make something slightly interesting into super dramatic. People cheat. So WHAT? Maybe I would have watched more IF I cared. South Side (Comedy Central) – I dont’ know if this will be as funny to anyone who’s not from Chicago but I thought it was hilarious. One of two Bashir Salahuddin comedy creations this summer. BH901210 (Fox) – Hopefully you were smarter than me in realising this was going nowhere fast since it didnt get renewed. Why they did this instead of just even 6 episodes of a real show I will never know. NOT REVIEWED:
LA’s Finest (Spectrum) – Spun off the BAD BOYS movies – Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba are LAPD detectives. Totally realistic im sure. It’s Bruno (Netflix) – Comedy. Even the first 20 seconds of the preview annoyed me. The dog is super cute though. Curfew (Spectrum) – UK. Sean Bean! Billy Zane! Miranda Richardson! Street Racing! (what?!?) Crime Diaries (Netflix) – Columbia. Murder Mystery inspired by true events. Side Games (Spectrum) – Spain. The Mafia gets into second division football (soccer.) Malibu Rescue (Netflix) – Looks like if Malibu Skipper had her own show. Then again, if you are the right age to watch this, you have no idea who Malibu Skipper is. Euphoria (HBO) – so bored in the first ten minutes I realised I would rather be cleaning my bathroom. So I did. How To Sell Drugs Online (Netflix) – Germany. No thanks. Los Espookys – I heard this was hilarious, but my HBO went away for the same reason you all made your HBO go away. Armistead Maupin Tales of the City (Netflix) – This was a mini-series I think in the late 90s? then there was a movie? now there is this? I was too confused to try and sort it out. Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO) – assuming it is what the title says.
