Toby Fox just beamed me a message right into my brain and it says that all human children in the Undertale and Deltarune universes need to get a gender license and that's actually why they're all nonbinary.

The Midsummer Holiday -- YgnaVani
While the northern hemisphere is in the middle of winter, the south tropics are in the middle of summer.
The height of the summer solstice in the Three and Ten brings the holiday of YgnaVani, a celebration of the current gods in residence of their plane of existence. Since their gods run on a very different set of time and space than the mortal plane does, it is a means to call their lofty attentions to the small forms that worship and see them for who they are. More or less alerting gods to the fact that 'we are here'.
YgnaVani celebrates the Tigress Sisters, a pair of goddesses that prowl and thereby protect the misty veil that separates the Clouded Isle from the rest of the mortal plane:
-Ygnapani, a great orange tiger of immense stature, her stripes writhe across her body like wafts and plumes of ever-changing smoke. Ygnapani is a sturdy and stocky goddess who strides with much purpose, much what one would think of when someone says 'tigress', although the tallest Sidhe still barely stands as tall as one of her claws. The Mother of the Founding Fire and She of The Thousand Eyes, she is the first any see on entering the mists, the true guardian of the gate, as it were. She comes with an incorrigible grin with curled lower canines, glowing to match her eyes. When she is acting on any of her aspects, she gains a thousand eyes of fire to help her judge existence itself. -Vanna is her sister, a tall willowy tigress that moves with the flow of water and wind, as she is The Mother of the Eternal Current. She is colored in pastel blues and purples, with swirling light grey stripes that move and ebb like ocean and wind currents. She looks as though she is constantly melting or dripping, but unlike the powerful stride of her sister, she flows through her movements. Vanna is rarely seen, though she is the first of the sisters one encounters in the mists of the Clouded Isle. A quiet hunter, opposite to her sister's loud and flashy personage.
The month leading up to the holiday is energetic, with the Harbor Isle's many shopping districts promoting sales on seasonal decor relating to the upcoming festival. Over the course of the month, travelling merchants from the Inner Triad visit the Ring settlements in the hopes of peddling that year's festival gear to those in the rurals, a sort of silent invitation to the events still to come.
The week leading into it is fraught with a flurry of activity; city workers are constantly on the move to decorate the Harbor Isle's central city with lights and lanterns and garlands strung across main thoroughfares and over buildings, all depicting the imagery of tigers alongside stylized imagery of flames and wind currents. Seasonal bazaars are set up, featuring a number of fun fare for the holiday events. The last half of the week, the bazaar is open to the public. Seasonal sales fall even lower to drum up excitement for the coming event. This is also when the Oracle selected for the ceremony events and their entourage arrives at the Central Isle and is housed in the Imperial Palace until the holiday arrives.
The holiday festivities themselves are, as expected of Sidhe, a spectacle. It is customary for festival-goers to wear clothing in two separate palettes depending on who they take as their patron:
-Ygnapani is symbolized by red, orange, gold, and black -Vanna is symbolized as periwinkle, lavender, royal blue, and silver
Faces are painted to resemble tiger masks, mirroring patron palettes, and small handheld lanterns depicting the symbology of the season are adorned with little bells to hold and ring throughout the day. Public music with songs about the season are played by musicians throughout the day, the expected revelry of the crowd joining in to dance and sing and mingle in praise of their resident goddesses.
As night falls, the true reason for the festivities begins. The visiting Oracle and their entourage take the center of attention at dusk, leading party-goers into prayer that they may receive the direct blessings they seek of the Tigress Sisters. Once recited, the crowd launches into a cacophony of noise, a traditional song sung specifically on cue for YgnaVani and mingling with the dissonant sound of a million bells.
YgnaVani is the loudest night of the year. If the Sisters respond in their own way, it is seen as a sign of good fortune and luck and the party continues on into the night in celebration of being recognized by such dimensionally-fickle entities as the goddesses. Never once since they entered the mortal realm have the Sisters ignored the holiday for what it is, having expressed their intrigue and appreciation for their tiny needy charges by making an appearance every year the holiday has gone on.

The Vogelweide
Perhaps the single most terrifying anomaly to cross paths with in the Schwarzwald is a thing known simply as The Vogelweide. One of the more humanoid anomalies, similar to Oma, it is something that appears to fill a specific role.
The Vogelweide is the only known something in the Schwarzwald that is allowed to show signs of greed and arrogance without punishment. This is due in part to the hypothesis that it is made of the greed and selfishness stamped down throughout the whole of the Zone by its more mortal inhabitants, taking shape in the idea that when enough of an emotion or trait is withheld from being expressed, it manifests in some way as something else to give it an outlet. As such, The Vogelweide is the conglomeration of the withheld feelings of greed and selfishness, a means for the Schwarzwald itself to exhaust such built-up emotions without worrying about it, something that still falls into the mechanics of Equivalent Exchange and so, is still part of the rules.
The Vogelweide manifests at random, appearing as a tall slender young man with white skin, bright blue glowing eyes, and translucent golden hair. His limbs and fingers are abnormally long, as is his smile. He appears clothed in the garb of a travelling minstrel and currently carries a mandolin or lute with him, depending on how he feels.
He drifts from hamlet to hamlet, demanding a week-long feast with food, drink, and general debauchery in exchange for his music and stories. Regardless of whether or not one actually enjoys his music or stories, they are still expected to engage and show their enjoyment for his presence. Doing otherwise will bring misfortune on the entire hamlet, so his plate and cup are filled, his presence with adoring fans, and his audience always entertained by him.
When he is ready to leave, he tests the mettle of his host by growing taller and more distorted, his details turning black and oily and dripping ichor from his distended body. His eyes are still visible and he continues to carry his current instrument of choice, demanding a local woman to accompany his song in a duet. Usually, the song is a recognizable tune as written and performed by the original Walther von der Vogelweide, a well-known Germanic poet whose music is a cultural staple and much beloved. If the song is performed to his liking, he resumes his more amiable form and takes his leave with many thanks to the relief of his hosts. If the chosen cannot sing with him for any reason and no other volunteers can step up to match, he becomes angry and will devour the hamlet’s Oma, thus severing their bond to the Schwarzwald and bringing about the downfall of the hamlet. If there is no Oma to eat, he will devour the original chosen and brings misfortune and downfall to the hamlet.
At current, he is tied with the Guide known as The Mutt, who not only has possession of his hurdy-gurdy but also shares something like his soul in one half of his body. While The Vogelweide tries to avoid being in the same place as The Mutt, when they do come together, it is a rare second chance for the afflicted hamlet if the final test fails, since he will blame the Guide for his interference. He doesn’t seem too fond of the other Guides either, since they all act like anchors for the Schwarzwald as a whole and he cannot win. He also does not go anywhere near the three towns, instead choosing to menace small temporary hamlets. This is a phenomena no one knows the reasons for, taking relief there is still human habitation even he won’t touch.

Elf names got more complicated as parents strove to create new ones instead of handling the political whiplash of reusing an old one. So if you meet an elf called ‘silver-river-water-voice’ they’re pretty young, but if some guy says ‘hi I’m Tree’ you best believe that bitch is ancient.

'Halloween' does not exist in the Empire. At least, not in the same way the mainland would recognize it. The concept is similar, in that it is meant predominantly as a means to honor the dead, the lineage before you. But as it is with nearly all Sidhe holidays and events, it is nothing short of a spectacle.
The week-long Festival of Lights happens in the tail end of the season following the shortest days of the year in the southern hemisphere. Whereas the northern hemisphere is experiencing autumn, the south tropics are going through their spring equivalent. Longer nights are being balanced and replaced, and so the Festival has its second purpose; to welcome back light for the coming summer season.
The prominent God of Festival time is Kaylaraja, the God associated primarily with Death Aspect. A benevolent deity, it is said he brings with him the calm of the grave to remind those living of those who came before. Legends and traditions tell that looking toward the Clouded Isle around this time, you can see the ghastly procession of lights as he and his entourage carry those newly departed into the cycle to be reincarnated.
The week following reparations for the monsoon season is when the Festival starts. Special lanterns are lit, one each night for a week, to add to the procession so the God may find his way through the islands to the Other World. It comes to a head on the last two days of the Festival week, where special sigils and yannas are drawn, honoring the gods of family patrons and asking that the dead before may be remembered, no matter the lives they lead now. Special foods are prepared to honor the dead, and the largest of the lanterns are lit at the very end to send floating on the currents toward the Clouded Isle with food and drink and trinkets to see those in the procession to the Other World safely.
Despite the somber tones that underlie the Festival's main purpose, it is the vibrance of life that balances it out. For all the darker events that happen to honor where they come from as practitioners of the Sidhe pantheons, the secondary festivities stands as a stark contrast and reminder that this is the Threshold Season. All things in balance, as another set of lanterns are lit and kept to welcome back the coming of the sun and light. The Festival marks the end of the Threshold Season, but it also signifies the beginnings of the planting seasons, giving and beginning life anew in the rural Ring districts.
While the Sending Ritual is dark and reverent, the rest of the Festival itself is bright and colorful, as to be expected, with people dressing in masks and costumes to take on roles of the Sun gods or Kaylaraja as thanks to all deities' roles in the season. Seasonal foods are served, as a means to clear out the storehouses to prepare for another harvest season and keep the old remnants from rotting away too quickly. Seasonal flowers are woven into garlands to decorate venues and streets, incense made for the season burnt to ward bad spirits following the procession away in order to protect Kaylaraja in his duties or to keep them from infesting the Ring islands during planting season.
Overall, a fine end of the destruction of the monsoons before leading into life growing and carrying on into the year that follows.

‘Factions’ are not quite the same in Schwarzwald as in other more open Zones. By the traditional definition of ‘faction’, the number can be counted on one hand:
-Bandits -Zoners -Stalkers -Guides -The Cult of the Cage
However, there are a multitude of branches or clans within all but the Guides, and each one sports its own insignia. The biggest ones that are recognizable are those surrounding the three major towns; Northtown, Central, and Southtown. Each of these display their insignias on flags and embroidered on the clothing of officials or people of particular importance to their community.
In Central, all three of the towns’ insignias are displayed on flags in the town square as a reminder they are all brothers in arms and are equal to the inner workings of Schwarzwald’s permanent human populations. Northtown is signified by the imagery of a tatzelwyrm coiled around itself; Central’s is a rampant heraldic unicorn; Southtown is a charging draft horse with the reins in its mouth attached to a plow spade. This is the only instance in which all three are seen together at all times.
Other insignias are attributed to smaller communities, hamlets, or family lineages in terms of Zoner culture; or for groups of gangs in the bandits that frequent the fringes.
