" How long do you believe you will continue the life of stardom? "
Tumblr media
Nahi was on the dance floor with Lord Dawnflame, the large, dark haired man smiled down at her, “You are truly a splendid dancer, Nahilvi. Imagine my pleasure to run across you at this party and have had the chance to see if you are as graceful in my arms as you were on the stage wearing nothing but paint.”
A shift in the music had him stepping into her and then pivoting his weight to guide her into a step that shifted her across his thigh, her body almost making contact with it, a spin came from their momentum. Green eyes were locked onto her purple, while he navigated the floor, a true gift that he maneuvered them across pink marble without looking for others around them.
She was so close to him that she could see very pale freckles that dotted his nose, a small, endearing thing that broke through all the suave and handsome, not that she would tell him that, telling a man who was clearly trying to seduce you that he was cute seemed a sure way to shift the mood. Red stained lips parted, her white teeth teeth bright between them as she smiled, “Dancing can be more enjoyable with a talented partner.”
“Tell me about it,” he said with a warm laugh, “I doubt I will enjoy dancing with anyone else tonight after this.” A strong hand splayed across her bare back, her yellow dress draped low on her spine, a minimal press with the heel of his hand and turning in of his hip led her to dip back over his supportive hold.
A sexy chuckle worked its way from her chest, when they paused in the pose, the warm hand on her back helped lift her up and drew her in close to his chest, tucking their hands in close to their bodies as the song shifted slower. “Tell me Lady Summerhold, what a gentleman might do to tempt you out of the spotlight.”
Nahi broke eye contact from him to see a number of appreciative glances towards them for the show they had just put on. Gesturing with her head out towards those on the edge of the floor. “I do not think I will ever giving up the adoration of my fans.”
(Thank you for the ask, Anon)

It’s time to introduce the full cast of primary characters! This will be split into two parts, part 1 is protagonists/unaligned.
Dawnflame - Primary protagonist/POV character
Age: Early 20s
Personality: Feisty, emotional, stubborn
Lore: Born to parents who didn’t really care whether she came home alive or not, or at all, Dawnflame had a rough childhood. She was a gangly kid, without access to the spectacular mana reserves she’d tap into as a teen, so she was bullied by the stronger and more powerful kids. Dawnflame joined up with the army as soon as she was able, determined to protect her court from her own treatment as a child. Aided by unusually high mana reserves, Dawnflame rapidly climbed the ranks and eventually fought proudly on the front lines of the Colored Tides War, earning the nickname Daybreaker for her explosive fighting style, as well as a reputation as the most powerful soldier produced by The Court of Tides.
She’s killed by Moondance in this war, and on her deathbed she recognizes the whole affair as nothing more than two petty bullies pulling everyone into a mess that never should have started. This is of course, never recorded, so Tawnyfrost brings her back from the dead expecting the loyal (if fiery) soldier, and instead gets a woman who tries to kill her within 45 seconds of being alive again, all the while declaring her hatred of Tawnyfrost. Dawnflame was never known for her subtly lol.
Moondance - Secondary protagonist
Age: Early 30s
Personality: Calm, quick-witted, ruthless
Lore: As the eternal big brother/protector figure ever since he was young (by his own choice, he just enjoys looking after people), Moondance joins the army as an adult to do that protecting on a larger scale. As a result, he gains a reputation for his unfaltering loyalty and “no one left behind” attitude, which also gains him loyalty from the younger soldiers. Like Dawnflame, Moondance fought proudly on the frontlines of the Colored Tides war, proving himself a brilliant and ruthless tactician, with an uncanny ability to lay traps and ambushes and then adapt them on the fly when required. It’s that sharp mind that’s enables him to take out Dawnflame near the end of the war.
He never lives to see the end, however, as he dies not long after that battle. Assassinated by his own leader in a fit of anger that he can no longer fight, courtesy of Dawnflame’s dying explosion. That betrayal causes him to reevaluate the war and his place in it. His official cause of death is listed as mana fever, but it’s an open secret that that’s a coverup for something. Tawnyfrost chooses to bring Moondance back from the dead for his mind and his loyalty, and since Moondance is known for his subtly so he has not told Tawnyfrost he hates her. He does, however, approach Dawnflame with the prospect of rebellion. Which she readily accepts.
Lichenfang - ???
Age: Mid 20s
Personality: Quiet, stoic, dry
Lore: Orphaned when she was barely old enough to fend for herself, Lichenfang spent her early years as a street rat, learning that the strong survived and the weak died. As a young teen, she was taken in by one of the reigning lords in the area, Lord Blackleaf, after he witnessed her taking mana blasts far better than her peers during a scrap with her fellow street rats. What followed was Lichenfang being turned into Blackleaf’s personal bodyguard/hitwoman, the person who did all his dirty work. Blackleaf demanded absolute obedience and punished disobedience with death, Lichen was no exception. She quickly learned to keep her head down, not to speak unless spoken too, not to offer opinions, and to do as she was told without hesitation or argument.
She was killed in the same battle as Lord Blackleaf, when the other lords and ladies decided they’d had enough of him as their neighbor. She dies before he does, and most of the information on her is lost to time. But Blackleaf’s title for her sticks around, Mana-Thief. Tawnyfrost knows she pulled a gamble choosing to bring Lichenfang back, but it payed off. Lichenfang wasn’t called Mana-Thief for nothing.

Daily Writing Challenge – February 2023 – Day 5 – Ambition/Relentless
“Again!” The Commander bellowed to the young Paladins.
Raena charged at the target, a wooden shield strapped to her arm, a blunted sword in the other hand, and struck. A near-deafening ‘whack!’ echoed across the training field as a dozen recruits did the same. The force of the strike reverberated up Rae’s arm, sending tingles through her shoulders. Both arms ached from the strain, but the Commander was relentless, they still had forty minutes of training left, and she knew the other elf would not give them a reprieve until that time was up.
“Good! Again!” he yelled, and, in unison, they charged and struck the targets again.
On and on it went, day by day. Wooden shields, blunted swords, wood and straw dummies. After there first week, three of the new recruits had dropped out, unable to keep up with the physical demands of training. ‘Soft,’ the Commander called them. Spoiled children from noble families that lacked ambition.
Raena rolled her eyes. She was one of those so-called ‘soft, spoiled noble kids,’ but she didn’t lack ambition, quite the opposite. She wanted to be the best. She wanted to be a Knight-Lord in the Blood Knights, but to do so, she had to complete Paladin training, and then enroll as a recruit with the Blood Knights. And she was determined to not let her mother’s money and influence have anything to do with her career. The young woman had purposely left her adoptive mother’s name off of her paper work for her training, fearing that she would be given special treatment if her higher-ups knew she was the daughter of the esteemed Ambassador Starfallen, and granddaughter of one of the city’s most well known and respected lawyers.
No, Rae was going to make her own way in this. She was so determined to do so that she would not tell her mom about important dates during her training, like family day. While the other Paladin recruits were enjoying time with their parents and siblings, eating, drinking and socializing with the trainers and officers, Raena was on the practice field, and in the gym, lifting weights.
After showering and putting away her training gear, Rae headed down towards the kitchen to grab something to eat. There she ran into Commander Brightvale, the one that was mainly in charge of their training. She hadn’t seen the Commander out of his training or ceremony armor before, but today he was dressed in simple leather breeches and a loose, linen shirt. Raena was struck by how handsome, and young, he was. She stood there in the doorway, momentarily forgetting why she had come down in the first place. He spotted her a few moments later.
“Ah, Recruit Dawnflame, why are you not with the other recruits, and your family?” he asked, taking in her attire and damp hair. She fumbled for words for a minute.
“My parents were unable to make the trip from home, so I used the time to get in some extra training, sir.” She dipped her head respectfully to the Commander. The other elf tilted his head, studying her for a long moment.
“Recruit, why did you lie on your application?” he asked. Raena’s head flew up, golden eyes wide.
“Sir?” she asked, trying to pretend she didn’t know what he was talking about. The Commander shook his head and smirked.
“Raena, you’re a very smart girl, you’re quite talented with the Light, and you’re coming a long way in your weapons training. I just don’t understand why you felt the need to lie.”
“I… I’m not sure what you mean, sir,” Raena responded, but she knew that he knew.
“You are certainly not the first noble or celebrity kid to try to hide their true identity, Lady Starfallen.” And there it was, he did know.
“My mother is Lady Starfallen, I am not,” she said defensively. He smirked at her.
“No, but you will be, someday, won’t you?” he asked. She didn’t quite like his tone.
“I don’t know what you’re implying, sir, but I do not intend to just rest on the coattails of my mother, and do absolutely nothing with my life other than spend her money. I want to be my own person, make my own way in the world. I don’t need help from my last name, or my family to do that. Sir.” The Commander seemed amused. He wagged a finger at her, setting down his cup and leaning a hip against the table.
“I like you, Dawnflame, you have spunk and motivation. So, if you want to keep your secret, so be it. But, you’re only going to hurt your family by keeping them away. I have met your mother, and she is so proud of you, and all of your siblings. I’m sure she would love to be here. Consider letting her know about the next family day, hmm?” He nodded at her, as if the conversation was over, and turned to leave.
“Oh, and one more thing, you need to keep your shield up more. That is what will keep your head on your shoulders in a battle.” And then he was gone.
Raena let out a breath she didn’t even know she had been holding. She grabbed a sandwich and a drink, and then went back to her room to send a comm message to her mom.

name 7 comfort movies + tag 7 people
tagged by @swinging-stars-from-satellites (yes I’m still catching up on things from like 2 weeks ago, shhh 😅🙃) thank you dear!! ^-^
(these are in no particular order aside from the order they came to my mind)
1) Spider-Man: Homecoming--I know there are some IssuesTM with this movie (specifically its portrayal of Spidey as compared to the original comics’ portrayal of him), and I try to be aware of them, but I do still personally really love this film. it’s very comforting to me for some reason, I think because it’s familiar and has a fairly straight-forward plot and themes that I resonate very deeply with?
2) Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring--I mean really all of the LOTR movies are comfort movies for me, but I think FotR is especially so, probably because of all the time spent in the Shire.
3) Doctor Strange--I’ve only seen it a couple of times, but I’m still going to count it because it’s another one where I’m very comfortable with the characters and storyline and resonate deeply with the themes (I guess I just don’t rewatch movies quite to the extent that some people do, even movies I really love??)
4) Rogue One--yes it’s tragic, yes it’s kind of heavy, but I still just love it so much. I’ve seen it so many times, I’m very comfortable with the characters and their journeys at this point, but I also never get tired of seeing their story play out, and I always manage to come away having noticed new things about them and being touched by the themes in a new way. Jyn is still my favourite Disney-era SW film heroine. <3
5) The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey--I certainly understand the complaints with all the films of this trilogy, but they’re rather nostalgic for me, because I still remember watching them when I was young with my dad and little sisters, and how re-enraptured I was by the world of Middle-earth (I’d seen the LOTR films not long before but hadn’t read any of the books yet). the colours and designs of this film are just so appealing to me, and it has fairly few discrepancies between the book and the film (compared to the other two)
6-7) all of the Star Wars Prequels + The Force Awakens--this is a bit of a cheat, but I’m going with it anyway, because doing this tag has reminded me just how rarely I actually watch movies and I’m struggling to come up with more to list 😅 I grew up watching the PT almost every weekend for several years of my early childhood, and then when my sisters discovered the Star Wars universe a while later, they were also the ones they fixated most on. I firmly believe that all my entire understanding of storytelling was heavily molded by these movies.
and then The Force Awakens was just so cool when it first came out. at first I complained a lot about how it was “too simple” and “too much like A New Hope”--and while I still think it copied the format of ANH a bit, it’s also very fun in its simplicity. I just enjoy it and it makes me feel like a kid going to the to watch spaceships without worrying about what The Important Fandom Officials thought about every detail.
tagging @audreythevaliant @as-dreamers-do @ladyzayinwonderland @ontologicalmoki @dawnflames @ladyverachtung @assorted-things (but if you guys don’t want to do it or have done it already, that’s perfectly fine! :))

Velonisse Dawnflame - Void Elf Hunter
Here’s an RP character I just made because I woke up sick and couldn’t go back to sleep. I’m on Moonguard, btw.
Basic Stats Name; Velonisse Dawnflame Nickname: Vel Title: Does being exiled mean she’s disowned, too? Because that’s lame. Eyes: Narrowed Height: 5′8″ ( cm) Weight: 128 lbs ( kg) Age: None of your business. Birthplace: Silvermoon City Home: Apparently Not Silvermoon
Currently Mad at the Void.
Description Vel is really tense, more so when people try to talk to her. Especially humans and dwarves. Or whenever she hears people speaking common, which is always these days.
As far as build, she's pretty average for the blo--void elf.
Also, when she hears people refer to 'void elves' she gets a look on her face like she's trying really hard not to scream.
She's well toned, and avoids mirrors because that internal screaming look happens whenever she sees her light purple skin or weirdly purply-red hair. And why's it wavy? And what the fuck happened with the back part?
She gets a little twitchy when the wind blows her hair in her face.
Only friends call her Vel, and you're probably not her friend.
History Ohmilight--or Void. Or whatever.
This whole 'ren'dorei' thing is kinda bullshit.
Vel was really happy as a Farstrider. Like, a Horde one. And she had absolutely no interest in learning about the Void or anything.
That was her brother.
Her stupid, selfish, moronic--
Her mother was upset because she got word that Vel's dipshit brother had been exiled because he wanted to be a Void Lord or something, and so Vel went to find him to get him to get off his shit and bring him home. Usually all she had to do was point out that she'd get his inheritance if he kept being a dumbass.
This time, though, he acted like because he'd been exiled it couldn't be reversed.
Preeeeetty sure it could be.
But he wouldn't listen, and went through some messed up portal that would make any self-respecting mage cry--seriously not structrually sound.
Not wanting her mom to be all sad and stuff, Vel followed him.
And then, of course, he and his cultish buddies had to get into some way weird shit. And now, not only did they fuck up her hair--and her cat, Fluffy--but apparently she can't go home?
She never visited the Sunwell before, why would she go now?
But whatever.
She probably wouldn't be quite so upset if this whole thing didn't mean that she had to be Alliance now.
Since, you know, the humans did leave her people to get munched on by the Scourge and all. Her dad's arm got chewed off. It was really gross, and there's probably some issues stemming from that, but Vel's really good at not thinking about it.
Normally.
And anyway, goblins throw the best parties.
Parties she can't go to anymore.
Thanks a lot, Void.
Motto For the Ho--Um, Alliance or Whatever.

For the fandom meme, N and O :)
N - “Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom”
I’m actually going to say more appreciation for the platonic ships/non-outright-romantic relationships in canon? like the DW and especially DWEU content is actually one fandom where you do see a lot of emphasis on the non-romantic aspects of love, and that’s awesome!! but I do wish we could see more love for Doctor-Companion relationships like Sixie and Evelyn and Four and Leela and Eight and Lucie, where there’s NO romantic aspect at all but they’re really good friends who care a lot about each other and motivate each other to be better people!! Gallifrey has a ton of this too (tho some of the relationships are left open to personal interpretation, so while I consider them non-romantic, other people see them differently) also I dearly love all the “neurodivergent Time Lord” headcanons I see about, so more of those too are always welcome. ok and also—I very very much wish there was more cosplay for Big Finish characters. there’s actually quite a bit of it and it’s super cool?! and I always get excited whenever I come across a new one. so I wish there was more of that, too.
O — “Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of?”
for this I just threw my Spotify likes playlist on shuffle and ended up with Agape by Bear’s Den. which for some reason has always given me Narvin feels. probably because the lines “for I’m so scared of losing you/and I don’t know what I can do about it/...I don’t want to know who I am without you” remind me a lot of a few certain scenes from season 6 of Gallifrey and also some of his lines from Erasure (if you know, you know 👀)
thanks so much for sending these @dawnflames!! :D
