2: a lesson in forgetting, and being forgotten
A/N: Second chapter of “the art of running away (the disaster of returning)“ Fitz pov time!! Comments and reblogs are better than Fitz crying!
Warnings: swearing

Keefe ran away.
To a place he can not follow.
Fitz isn't exactly sure what they expect his reaction to be. Sophie stares at him like she's waiting for a bomb to explode. Biana worries her lip with her teeth, a habit she'd broken years ago, and Dex twists his fingers into knots until the knuckles turn white.
"He's gone?" Tam leaves out the word they are all thinking. Fitz hates him for it: he wants to tell him to say it. Remind everyone that this happens all too often. He is rewarded with a dull glance up, eyes widening in mock surprise. "Typical."
This is the part where he becomes a tea kettle and starts screaming.
But Fitz just says, "Let him stay there." His insides twist tighter than Dex's hands. He doesn't think he remembers how to breathe.
"I think he doesn't want to be found this time," Sophie admits. "Last time, we only knew where he was because I hitched a ride. This time, there's no way to know."
"Good. Let him stay there," Fitz repeats. His throat chokes on itself, but Biana's giving him the look that means his face has gone into a mask again, cold and stony, poster child of sculpted stone. "The Forbidden Cities? God, I've told him about being there enough. Alvar's told him enough. He knows plenty. He'll be fine without us."
Without me.
But they've been without each other for a long time, haven't they? Fitz thinks they've been playing hide and seek, lost and found, ever since Keefe left the first time and took a chunk of his heart with him. They've never had the conversation about its safe return, and so he continues with a hole in his heart and the missing piece too close and too far away.
"Fitz—"
"I agree," Wylie says, hands folded behind his back, eyes stormy. "He can always light leap away at any danger." He's perhaps the one who knows Keefe least, and maybe this is why Fitz feels a sudden surge of anger. Who is Wylie to decide Keefe's not worth saving? Agreement feels laced with poison to him, every word an insult and his saving grace.
Maybe he didn't mean it.
But there are nods now. So Fitz nods, forces a smile on his ice-cold face. "He doesn't need us." He's trying so hard not to let his bitterness leak through.
Sophie, he knows, isn't fooled. Not Biana, either. Tam meets his eyes and shakes his head like he knows the push and pull of the maelstrom whisking his lungs around his body, the nausea rising in his throat. But no one says anything. They can't find anything that doesn't call him a liar.
He ran away from you.
"How do you know where he is?" Stina is the one to ask the question, fingers twisting in the loose curls past her shoulders.
Sophie hesitates. "He... he left me a letter."
Another sting, another fire in his head.
He is a liar. Perhaps to himself, because he knows that this time, the cowardice had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the danger of newness and the violence of terror. All of Keefe's worst fears.
I know you, Fitz will say when he sees him again. So why does it feel like you've forgotten everything I ever was?
...
Fitz digs through his bedsheets, under his pillow, under the mattress, inside his pillowcase, fingers flying desperately across gold-trimmed navy blue.
His desk sits in disarray, every drawer spilled out across the carpet he's checked under, every pocket of every item of clothing turned inside out to check for anything, any acknowledgment of his existence. Of his importance.
His bathroom is spotlessly clean, as always. There is no space to hide an envelope. No place to hide a letter.
The fire builds with every moment. Nothing, nothing— Fitz rips the sheets from his bed in vain, the mattress empty—nothing.
He left him with nothing.
Fitz lets himself erupt, punching the wall hard enough to make him leap back, cradling his fist. He needs something broken that isn't him. He needs to be fixed. He needs to be fixed. Keefe needs to be fixed. Everything is broken.
His pillow explodes behind him with a pop, sending brightly colored feathers fluttering all through the air, and Fitz whirls to face it.
He hadn't realized he was outward channeling. His hands shake a little, and he's not sure whether it's from the effort or from all the feelings forced down his throat. He swallows hard.
Fitz sits carefully on his bare mattress. Keefe used to sprawl out on it like he owned it, fingers barely brushing the headboard as he flung them back past his head and mussed his hair a little more—but that doesn't matter anymore. The bed is empty.
He doesn't know why he thought Keefe would care enough to leave him a letter. He would have taken a note like the ones he remembers reading about in human books during younger library visits: Gone fishing. Be back in a few hours, maybe a century. When the world has moved on without me. Moved on from me.
What a fucking coward.

Bucci Gang Headcanons!!!
I’m not really one to usually post this kind of stuff, but these are some lil headcanons my pal @jjadegreen and I have come up with while stuck in the same house during the quarantine!!
These literally range from *probably would happen* to *fucking crack* so y’all have been warned...
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Giorno is one of those people that has a secret sweet-tooth. Like. An insane one where if he actually decides to indulge in it he cannot fucking stop.
When he does go overboard, it’s usually because Bruno got his favourite ice cream flavour from the store and it’s always at some ungodly hour of the night.
He usually blames it on Mista somehow. Accidentally ate the entire tub of ice cream at 3am? No biggie. Just put the spoon on Mista’s bedside table while he’s asleep!
Everyone blames Mista for it EVERY TIME and now he’s not allowed to eat any ice cream when they buy it. Mista thinks it’s the Sex Pistols because he swears he doesn’t remember doing it.
Giorno just sits there like *sweats* “yeah uh no it had to be Mista, right? There’s definitely no one else it could be, right? Right??”
One time Abbacchio caught him in the act at like 4am and they have yet to bring it up.
He would spill Giorno’s big secret, but he really likes to see Mista suffer.
Narancia wears skirts sometimes and it’s not a big deal. He vibes, they all just vibe. No toxic masculinity here.
Narancia is genuinely afraid of those “IF YOU DO NOT SEND TO 10 PEOPLE THIS WILL APPEAR AT THE END OF YOUR BED AT 3AM” emails.
One time he couldn’t do it because Bruno took his phone away and he sat in bed all night fucking trembling in fear of what chain mail monster would eat his face off this time.
Abbacchio hates geese. No one knows why. Not even Bruno.
Narancia’s real stand name IS Aerosmith, but he’s dead set on calling it Lil’ Bomber because “that’s his rapper name.”
Mista is lactose intolerant but he doesn’t know because he just thinks it’s normal to feel excruciating pain when you eat ice cream.
“Like how pineapples hurt your mouth when you eat them.” -Mista probably
Bruno literally had to take him to the hospital one night because he inhaled too much ice cream and would not stop throwing up and Mista was like “wait this doesn’t happen to you??”
Trish hates butterflies because *fun fact!* butterflies often feed on not only nectar and fruit, but DECAYING CORPSES of animals!
When she was a kid, she was walking in some alleyway and ran into a dead animal covered in butterflies. One landed on her arm and she fucking screamed. She will never look at them the same ever again...
Giorno loves to make things into butterflies when they all spend time together, and Trish literally has to suppress a shudder every time one goes near her.
Fugo is one of those people that is basically not afraid of anything, but when a fucking bee comes near him he will LOSE IT. He’s one of those people that will have to get up and run away from a bee when it flies near him.
If you tell him that it will leave him alone if he stops moving, he will punch you.
Giorno likes to make shit into bees sometimes just to fuck with him
Bruno does not like dogs. It probably stems from some childhood experience that went sour, but he does not care. He will be stone-faced during any mission or situation, but if a dog tries to jump up and greet him he will freak. The fuck. Out.
One time Narancia and Mista brought home a dog from the streets and mama Bruno was like “NOPE” and zipped himself out of existence.
Abbacchio found him locked in the closet under the stairs when he got home and made them get rid of it.
Leone was more of a cat person anyway.
Abbacchio eats raw pasta.
Fugo plays chess with himself. When Giorno joins the team he’s like “ugh finally an intellectual” but Giorno has literally never seen a fucking chess board in his life and is too scared to tell Fugo so he just keeps making up excuses as to why he doesn’t “have time” to play chess with him today.
Mista doesn’t shower but he has a BOMB-ass face-care routine. Even Trish is jealous. His face? Baby soft? Ten out of ten. The rest of him? Axe body spray out of ten.
Narancia went through a goth phase pre-canon. Abbacchio was not happy because Bruno kept referring to him as “little Abba” but he let Narancia use his good lipstick anyway.
Mista found his special hat in a street gutter on a rainy day and it matched his sweater so he decided to just keep it. Abbacchio does Trish’s makeup. They go to Sephora together. I don’t make the rules.
Giorno never really told anyone (besides Bruno) that he got his stand naturally so they all assume he got it from Polpo’s lighter and when he mentioned something off-hand about “when I was a kid Gold and I…” everyone’s just like “bitch hold up-”
Abbacchio wears coloured contacts and his ass literally cannot see without them.
Yes they are expensive as fuck. He blows half his pay-check on them every month.
One time he lost them right before a mission so he had to pull out his heavy prescription glasses from like 8th grade. They literally looked like this.
I think you can imagine the outcome
Growing up, Giorno only listened to three songs.
The only reason he had access to these songs was because he found a really old Walkman on the side of the road when he was wandering around once. The tape only had three songs on it; Dancing Queen, It's Raining Men, and some song by Mozart. These were the three songs of Giorno’s childhood.
He still has it and likes to listen to the tape when he gets sad
Narancia doesn’t know what a period is. Neither does Mista.
Bruno forces everyone into the living room after overhearing this and makes them all watch one of those really awkward sex-ed videos from the 90s (you know the ones)
It was one of the worst days of their lives
They still have the tape and Narancia sometimes slips it in the VHS player when they all least expect it just to fuck with everyone
Bruno once held a capo meeting at their house (biggest mistake of his life) and all you could heard blasting through the walls of the other room was “YoUr bOdy MiGht Be gOiNg tHrOuGh sOmE cHaNgEs, fOr eXaMpLe yOuR P-”
On that note, Giorno was definitely that one kid who took notes during Sex-Ed
Abbacchio listens to Avril Lavigne
Giorno shaves his arms. It kind of started by accident but now he literally cannot stop or else his arms will look completely fucked up
Bruno has sensitive teeth. He can’t drink water that’s too cold cause it hurts his mouth. Abbacchio makes him tea :)
Fugo plays piano to help him with his anger. He would say that he plays saxophone too, but it’s more like violently screeching into the mouthpiece instead of actually playing it.
Narancia thinks that lesbian is a nationality
Even though Giorno lived in Japan for just a couple years, he’s still pretty fluent in the language because his mother would only speak Japanese to him growing up
The gang has no idea that Giorno is Japanese and when a foreigner is struggling Giorno just swoops in with perfect Japanese and they’re all just really confused.
Giorno doesn’t cry during movies or TV shows, but he’s one of those people who fucking BAWLS during video game credits
Mista and Narancia beat Ocarina of Time together and Giorno was watching from the sidelines and AS SOON as the credits started rolling there were tears.
When KK Slider starts to sing in Animal Crossing New Horizons and your character is brought into a music void and the credits start rolling he tears up just a little bit
Mista is squeamish around dead bugs. Not live ones. Dead ones and solely dead ones
Mista and Trish go thrifting. Mista goes to check the pockets of clothes for spare cash (cause he’s a broke bitch) and Trish goes to buy clothes
Everyone thinks that Mista doesn’t change his clothes but he actually just buys like 7 of the same outfit
Mista sneezes like a white sports dad. You know the sneeze.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Bonus Bruabba shit because Jade and I always go fucking HARD when talking about our local mafia dads:
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Bruno ties up the little strings on Abbacchio’s tiddy shirt every morning.
They got promise rings. Leone’s trying to find a nice time to actually propose but the gang keeps fucking it up every time they try to go on a nice date together
Bruno and Leone watch thunderstorms together
-The rest of the bucci gang stay inside and play monopoly or something when’s its stormy but these two bring out blankets and sit on the front porch and just be all soft and shit watching the lightning light up the sky and listening to the rain on the roof above them.
Bucciarati and Abbacchio have been mistaken as the following:
Bruno as a woman and Abbacchio as a man. Abbacchio as a woman and Bruno as a man. Two lesbians. But never an actual gay couple.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Yeah so I have no idea what that was. These were taken from a google doc we have together that’s just all these jumbled, crack-filled headcanons just for fun. I’m sure you can sense the pure chaos in this.
Go give my dude @jjadegreen a hello, sis made most of these!
uhhh let us know if you want any more from any other parts. Cause y’all know we probably got some. <3

Weekend 1: May 12-14, 2017
This weekend (Friday-Sunday) I got to go see the Hubers! This post is going to be the overview with a series of Daniel Tiger photos (note: "overview" doesn't mean "short." I've never been called too concise). After this one, I'll post three separate times with photo highlights from each day. Get excited, it's going to be a wild ride. Or, well... okay, maybe not. But it was still a beautiful weekend - even with the rain. Los geht's!
Tumblr media
Friday morning was a bit hectic at first, because I had a list of things I wanted to accomplish before I left.... and I woke up 45 minutes later than I had planned to. So... I didn't finish the laundry I had planned to do Friday morning (note: it's super easy to manage international travel if you're willing to pack light, do laundry in your sink/shower, and plan ahead far enough in advance that you can have dry clothes when you need them). I finished the work I needed to for class, and I finished packing. I think having (clean) clothes packed was more important than having clean clothes to wear on Monday.... right? So after a quick breakfast with @marley (good chat, Marley!) I ran off to the U2 metro stop. Because the German metro system is incredible, it was really easy to pick up the right ticket and find my way via Schorndorf to Haubersbronn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heidi and Shaka (their 10 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback) were waiting for me at the train stop! I have to say, modern technology and apps like What'sApp make international coordination and travel planning WAY easier. Friday was a slow day. Heidi and I went for a walk with Shaka, chatted and shared photos, and went for a reminisce about the good ol' days. Heidi took me in to Schorndorf so that I could see all the ways that the town has changed since I was here last. The biggest change is to the high school. Burg Gymnasium (Castle High School) got its name from its style - it looked like an old castle/fortress. It was awesome. But... it was also old. And they needed more room. So they demolished the whole thing and are building a new school. Because like the show, school must go on, they've constructed a container building to function as the temporary school for now. I've seen things like this many times in Europe, but never in the US - it looks like a building, but when you look closer you can see that it's a structure composed of shipping-style containers. In the afternoon I went with Heidi and Shaka to Shaka’s dog training school. I sat and had a Fanta with DT while they did their practice.
Tumblr media
Paul got home in the evening and we had a nice quiet dinner of Weißwurst (white sausage), pretzels, and a massive sort of radish I've never had before. It was surprisingly good (normally I'm not particularly partial to radish, but this was good. @drscottclemson says maybe it was a daikon radish, which I still haven't heard of but there you are).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saturday was supposed to be rainy, but it ended up being gorgeous - cloudy on and off, but not stormy. Other than a couple of walks with Shaka, the big things today were helping Paul with yard work (earning my keep) and going to Andi's big handball game. So, if I understand correctly, handball in Germany is divided into professional level, regional highly competitive but amateur, and less serious hobby teams. Andi has played for the last 8 years on a regional team, but at the highest level (essentially division 1 amateur handball). He's really good. Holds the club record for scores in one game good. Did I mention Andi is maybe 6'6"? Super tall. Anyway, this was the final game of the season, and Andi's final game with the team. He doesn't have time to continue playing at this level (think practice 4 days/week and games every weekend). So we went to the game, and Andi's team won! (Also, it’s SUPER loud and everyone wears ear plugs). After the game they had an end of season party and a send off for Andi and the other player finishing his time on the team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunday was restful. We had a big breakfast, then went for an adventure to see the extraordinarily well-preserved medieval city of Esslingen. Evidently, because of the gorgeous old homes in Esslingen, a US general ordered that the city not be a target for bombing during WWII (so that the generals would have a nice place to stay when they got there). It rained the whole time we were walking around the town - but as we were getting ready to head back to the car... the sun came out! And it was suddenly a warm, sunny day. So we went to a Biergarten and had a snack before we wandered back to the car. Sunday night Andi was able to come back over for dinner, which was really nice. He didn't have much time to hang out this weekend, unfortunately. He's a math teacher, and after grading all of these big final exams for his class, they told him "oh, we need you to grade for this other class too." So he's had to work through much of the weekend. Dinner tonight was pork, dumplings, Blaukraut, and sauce (like an au jus). After dinner I got my stuff and Andi dropped me back at the train station in Schorndorf.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once I was back in the hotel in Stuttgart, I spent a good chunk of the evening talking to Sarah, mom & dad, and Michael & Julie. It was Mother's Day, so hopefully everyone had a nice celebration. Sarah's college roommate (also named Sara) came to visit, so Sarah had someone there to help celebrate her in my absence. Now we're off for another week of fast-paced, nonstop adventure!

Shut down in the 1970s, following an alleged mass suicide of its patients, the asylum is rumoured to have housed political prisoners as well as the mentally ill, who were tortured and tested on by the director, who has since disappeared. Each team member is fitted with a camera rig that films both them and their point of view, while team captain Ha-joon guides them remotely through the abandoned corridors from a tent in the woods outside. Detective Woo's attention is immediately piqued by the woman's widower, the much younger, handsome Jin-han. It seems Jin-han, a bio-med researcher whose work was never taken seriously by the domineering Yoon-seol, was a trophy husband. Unfolding over the course of one night, predominantly in one location, The Vanished channels the spirit of Alfred Hitchcock and a dash of Euro noir for a psychological thriller that delivers. Glass Garden Director: Shin Su-won Time length: 117 minutes Cast: Moon Geun-young, Kim Tae-hun, Suh Tai-hwa Genre: Mystery, Fantasy Synopsis: Despite her disabled leg, Ph.D. student Jae-yeon is a brilliant researcher with a rare ability to communicate with nature. Having been hurt by her hypocrite colleague and lover, she turns her back to the world and goes deep into the forest to live alone in a glass garden. Meanwhile, novelist Ji-hoon develops a fascination for Jae-yeon and, despite her cold reception, begins to hover around her. Inspired by her, he eventually writes a novel about her titled 'The Glass Garden'. Jae-yeon slowly begins to open up to him. However, he realizes that something mysterious is happening in the glass garden and, shocked and confused, makes a crucial mistake from which there will be no return. Golden Slumber Director: Noh Dong-seok Time length: 108 minutes Cast: Gang Dong-won, Han Hyo-joo, Kim Eui-sung Genre: Action, Thriller Synopsis: Gun-woo is your average, model-citizen. He's become quite the local celebrity after saving the life of a top class K-pop star and enjoys his days working as a courier delivering packages in the bustling city of Seoul. This peaceful life is turned upside down when he witnesses the assassination of a presidential candidate in a bombing incident. There's a conspiracy afoot however, as all the evidence, security-camera footage, witness testimonies and even fingerprints, point to Gun-woo as the culprit. After necessitating a breathless dash from harm's way on his part to avoid incarceration, all Gun-woo can confide in is Mr. Min a friend of a friend who does his hardest to clear Gun-woo's name from this conspiracy. As time passes, the incident spreads its reach across others close to Gun-woo and it appears that the mastermind behind it all has a personal score to settle against him. A Haunting Hitchhike Director: Jeong Hee-jae Time length: 108 minutes Cast: Roh Jeong-eui, Park Hee-soon, Kim Ko-eun Genre: Drama Synopsis: Sixteen year-old Jeong-ae lives with her father in an area being redeveloped in Seoul. Her father was diagnosed with an end-stage cancer but refuses treatment as he has given up all hope in living and awaits his death. One day, Jeong-ae receives a letter from her mother, who left home a long time ago. Thinking that it is her only hope left Jeong-ae leaves in search of a mother she has never seen aided by her friend Hyo-jeong who also shares a goal in finding her biological father. Although their first attempt ends abruptly through unforeseen circumstances, Jeong-ae meets a man she suspects may be Hyo-jeong's father. What A Man Wants Director: Lee Byeong-heon Time length: 101 minutes Cast: Lee Sung-min, Shin Ha-kyun, Song Ji-hyo Genre: Drama, Comedy Synopsis: Seok-gun, an ex-rollercoaster designer turned taxi driver loves his wife Dam-deok but he also loves playing with fire on secret nights out. But Dam-deok's sudden death leaves Seok-geun miserable and heartbroken realising that she was the true love for him. Bong-soo is the boring and prude husband of Seok-geun's sister, Mi-young. His Italian restaurant business seems lacklustre, and so is his marriage, until he meets Jenny, who later ends up getting a job at his restaurant. Fond of Jenny's personality and good sense of humour, Mi-young decides to hire Jenny as housekeeper for her brother, Seok-geun to liven up his house. One day, he overhears that there is a foreigner who will pay big money for a ride down to Gwangju city and back before curfew. Happy to be making big money to pay his overdue monthly rent, Man-sub snatches the job, not knowing that the foreigner is a German journalist with a hidden agenda. They arrive to find a city under siege by the military government, with the citizens, led by a determined group of college students, rising up to demand freedom. Hye-won's days are filled with simple but peaceful moments as she prepares meals with her organic ingredients. The missing body is that of Yoon-seol, a powerful and wealthy businesswoman who died of a heart attack. Detective Woo's attention is immediately piqued by the woman's widower, the much younger, handsome Jin-han. It seems Jin-han, a bio-med researcher whose work was never taken seriously by the domineering Yoon-seol, was a trophy husband.
