If the Dragon Raja series got popular in the west during the early 2010s, we would definitely have a ton of ship videos on YouTube with Cascada songs

I'm not a big fan of Dragon Raja, but i love one character: Von Schneider the Chu Zihang's mentor. For he's brave and courageous, way better that the lame coward of a main character we have in Lu Mingfei.
Here's about Schneider (use auto translate, if you don't speak Chinese):
Also some about him:

Schneider is a kind person. And he really cares about his student Chu Zihang (aka Johanny Chu in game), protecting him from the Cassell Schoolboard, whom he doesn't trust after the Greenland incident (in which he lost his students, assigned to mission, and got seriously injured). I think he's right.

Dragon Raja 龙族
I am still waiting for the complete novel series. It's possible once that is released, I will write more straight longzu here.
In the meantime, I'm roleplaying Chu Zihang in FFXIV, just as a standard cross over character. I also have started RPing Lu Mingfei that is a crossover between Dragon Raja and Drakengard/Nier: Replicant.
So I'm still writing, but not on this platform currently.
If you would like to RP, just DM me. I'm Silverdew Rocio (Chu Zihang) and Red Dioh (Lu Mingfei) on Mateus server.

Dragon Raja and why everyone and everything always has a different name.
If you ever tried to read the manhua, play the game or watch the animated show and got confused by the constant changing of the names of the characters and the lore, I think you'd like to read this little essay.
Hi, I'm hectab, and for some reason I decided to translate Dragon Raja from Chinese to english a couple years ago, which has been strangely enjoyable, but also annoying in some ways.
You see, this is not unique to this franchise, I am aware, but when your Chinese property has a ton of international characters and keeps including real-world mythology from other cultures, you need to start making decisions, because things have different names in different cultures.
So, is your name Johann or...?
For starters, the name of the series is Long Zu (龙族) and it means something like "Dragonkind".
The editorial initially called it "Longzu: Eragon" and then they changed it to "Longzu: Dragon Raja"
Tumblr media
Maybe they mixed "D" with "E"? Maybe they liked how it sounds, maybe they read the western Eragon books, who knows.
You see, Long Zu was never translated, it basically doesn't exist in the west, but it was huge in China, so much that they decided to make an expensive MMO based on the franchise, the results were so flashy that they went global and by 2020 it was nearly everywhere.
Now... Americans are used to a few Japanese words, but are they open to Chinese ones?
What about people that aren't familiar with anime and manga?
How do we market a guy called Chu Tianjiao? Screw it, we'll call him John.
So yeah, they localized a lot of it:
Tumblr media
Funny thing, Luminous already has an American name in the books but there was no way they were going to call him Ricardo.
Then the devs decided to change how they call the characters and everything in the middle of the story, which made it even more confusing.
So why is this a problem? Just show people the graph, right? Yeah I guess, but for me the problem was...
The Manhua
First let's address the fan translation:
When I was translating the manhua, in order to avoid making decisions and offering explanations, I just kept the game names, but then I realized that by doing that, I shot myself in the foot, I'll give you an example:
You see, let's mention three not-so-random things from these books:
Caesar's skill: Lian You
A creature: The Kamaitachi
A clan of Japanese mobsters: The Oni
They called each of those things "Devils" (They technically are though).
So now we have three different things with the same name in english, and at some point I had to write stuff like:
"Caesar had to unleash his devils against the devils in the streets while running away from the devils."
Give me a break...
Caesar's name is its own mess, no one can decide how to spell it, even official sources from China contradict themselves, is it Caesar or Cesare?
The official translation of the manhua came out later, but even they decided to change how they call some things in the middle of the story...
Here are the manhua terms that I can recall at the moment:
Tumblr media
Yanling
Ah... Yanling, the superpowers of the series.
I'll explain why Yanling, Ex.Skill, Soul Skill, Sacred Words and Kotodama are exactly the same thing and how the hell that happened:
Yan Ling means something like "the spirits of words" or "sacred words" and it is an ancient Chinese belief in words and names that withhold spiritual power.
You could also call them "magic words", "spells" or "sacred sounds" in western cultures and most importantly: Kotodama in Japanese culture.
That word, "Kotodama"...
Japanese arc, Japanese words!
You see, Jiang Nan is kind of a weeb, he's not hiding it, the franchise is heavily influenced by Anime and Manga, so he tends to take Japanese elements and translate them to their Chinese equivalent, be it culturally or merely linguistically.
For example: Caesar Gattuso's Yanling is called: "Lián yòu".
Lián yòu is the Chinese word for "Kamaitachi" which is a creature from Japanese folklore, three wind-devils with sickle claws that cut people.
Tumblr media
In the original Chinese version they're called "Sickle Ferrets" but if you're translating it to english, should we call them that or do what the game did? "Wind devils".
But wait, since it's directly mentioned that they're from Japanese folklore, maybe we should translate it to Japanese as Kamaitachi.
Or maybe just leave it in Chinese as Lian You?
Now let's say you picked Japanese and called them Kamaitachi, should Yanling be changed to Kotodama then? Should I change Jiude Ya Ji to Sakatoku Aki? Should I change every name to their original culture's equivalent?
In that case the Sheqi Bajia should be changed to the Japanese Yamata no orochi instead of Eight-headed snake in english, but can you see? Right there you have three different ways to translate the exact same thing and they're all correct in their own way.
Other examples of this include:
Tumblr media
I could go on for centuries, those were three books of Japanese stuff.
And then it came out, the...
Donghua / Anime
I don't know why, but the studio refuses to type the names of actual places. I'm not even talking about a translation, this is the original script in Chinese.
The characters clearly talking about China and America, but they never seem to type the actual names of those countries, just very similar-sounding ones... Why is that?
Anyway... That's the end of it.
Writing a wiki about this stuff sure must be fun, huh?

Worlds top 30 players LOL
#1 Pray (Solid, smart, good at everything, more macro view than other ADCs)
2. Bdd (Might underpreform since 1st worlds, had stellar season)
3. Faker (Derps some lane phases but saves his team sometimes too, can do everything)
4. Gorilla (Solid, smart, can do everything)
5. Ruler (He wasn´t on any top 20 list since its not obvious, but he is really good at sticking to a game-plan and he is great, under-rated as fuk, smart)
6. Khan (Might underpreform since 1st worlds, lane dominant)
7. Ambition (Genius, great macro awareness, great shotcaller, previlledged to be a shotcaller on the team best at following plans, mechanically weak for #7th)
8. Xiahou (Stellar season, the Chinese hype boy, in group with good mids, time to see if he lives up to the hype)
9. Wolf (Solid, when SKT was slumping Wolf wasn´t, even with Bang slumping in his lane).
10. Cuvee (Solid, like all of Samsung he can do the job he needs to, he can even play carries now too.)
11. Mysic (Solid, good at doing maximising damage without dying)
12. Corejj (He wasn´t in any top 20 either. Sure its not a frostfang meta [which he would excell in], but hes still consistently good at highest level)
13. Blank (He wasn´t in any top 20 either, was doing great earlier, then did a lil bad, with bad invades and bad communication.)
14. Meiko (He used to be lane dominant, now I believe he roams, he will have a new adc vs good bot lanes.)
15. Crown (He was the best Mid last year, he had a bad split and a half with some ok moments. He is capable of brilliance but he has shown some weakness this year)
16. Rekkles (Solid, even with fnatics chaotic playstyle, if fnatic will sucseed I think its Rekkless that will be the biggest reason for that sucsess)
17. Sword Art (Best player from Taiwan, smart, good roamer and engager).
18. Bang (Slumping, he used to be a great ADC and was consistent, but I have been dissapointed with him in the Summer split).
19. Condi (The brain and glue of the only Chinese macro team.)
20. Karsa (Aggressive jungler, can punish some weak Junglers in his group, Has sword art to help him, and if Maple gets good again he could have some great assistance).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21. Power of Evil (Maybe its a bit hipster putting him this high, he is not on a great team but he is a very good mid laner).
22. Bjergsen (Solid, smart, doesn´t take many risks).
23. Huni (Inconsistent but can be brilliant, hes like a dog though).
24. Uzi (Hes good but he seems dumb, hes does some stupid stuff, espeically in finals, emotionally weak, stupid.)
25. Peanut (Jungle Huni, mechanics dog, if he jungles for Huni he will dive top, will their mechnics save them?)
26. Zven (Consistent, not great, prone to cs deficits in lane, doesn´t take enough advantages)
27 Scout (I didn´t know where to rate this guy since LPL is so chaotic)
28. Soaz (The escape artist, He does some swag stuff, good macro understanding, but embraces chaos).
29. Jensen (Lane domiant, gets a lot of resources, dominates NA along with his other Mid lane Danish brethren).
30. Doublelift (Consistent, stupid)
Perkz and Olleh nearly made the list. Sorry Cuzz, all of your allies were put in the top 6 and you´re not even in my top 30, despite not being bad.
Samsung play as a team, so all of the players on the team have the capacity to play to the plan/context outlined to them. They are all very good at understanding that context and even thinking on their feet when they have to. Outside of crown they don´t have many Individual moents of brilliance, but they constantly do small macro things well which I think is brilliant. Slow macro team.
SKT are worlds hardened, I think they will preform well in worlds. Reactive team.
Longzu were the best team in the world for the Summer split, but I am not a bit concerned if they can keep it together for worlds. They do fancy stuff.
Taiwan as a region seems weak at the moment. Flash Wolves are “ok”.
The Chinese teams seem of about equal quality. WE macro, RNG Total Chaos, EDG chaos
G2 are good at adapting to another team if they get to study them + the patch, but they are weak in BO1s and they got the hardest group they could have gotten (play ins team is irrelevant).
Fnatic play a chaotic style.
I dunno what to make of misfits, seemingly they can prepare for BO5s well, but that won´t matter unless they finish 1st in group D, and they probably won´t.
NA got the best group draws they possibly could have gotten with the only exception of not getting fenerbache into group D. So they might do ok this year despite not being good at all. They will not knock out any Korean teams though. They all play mediocre macro style.
Gigabyte Marines are mad, and bad.
