Wait, who’s onestar’s father in your AU? You said it was Windrunner but I assume that’s incorrect since she’s windclan’s founder and died like a million years ago.

Did you maybe mix up windflight and cloudrunner?

Not Windrunner, Onestar was not spat out of the sky in a meteorite like Kal-El. Onekit was the only surviving child of Cloudrunner and Larksplash.

Both of them were very old when they had Onekit. Too old to be having kits safely. Larksplash dies in childbirth with the rest of the stillborn litter and Cloudrunner was distraught. They'd been mates for almost their whole lives, but now, he was left with One Kit.

It's a sad name, but a very meaningful one.

A few names from Warriors that are way cooler in the French translation:

(be warned, a lot of tail and stripe have been changed for linguistics reasons, tail being a slang word for penis and stripe sounding just weird. on the weird-sounding part we also have the frost, shine and pool ones) (oh and cloud was used as the -paw suffix translation so many of them don’t have it either)

Greystripe -> Plume Grise (or Greyfeather)

Darkstripe -> Eclair Noir (or Black/darkLightning)

Sorreltail -> Poil de Châtaigne (Chestnut/Sorrelfur)

Cloudtail -> Flocon de Neige (Snowflake)

Hazeltail -> Plume de Noisette (Hazelfeather)

Willowpelt -> Fleur de Saule (Willowflower)

Jayfeather -> OEil de Geai (Jayeye)

Stonefur -> Pelage de Silex (Silexfur, way cooler than Pelage de Pierre honestly)

Onestar -> Etoile Solitaire (now technically it can be considered a litteral translation, but a very litteral translation would have been Une-Etoile, which doesn’t fit the french naming system, so now Etoile Solitaire is more a loose translation, the litteral translation of it being... Lonelystar)

Nightcloud -> Belle-de-Nuit (Nightbeauty, which is also the name of a flower... and a very old slang word for high-end prostitute)

Cloudstar -> Etoile de Givre (Froststar, again the cloud pre/suffix was never translated as is)

maybe doves wing changes her name after jays wing dies? “half” because she and jay were close, two halves of a whole. maybe something happened to their other family members? i also recall you saying that onestar could also be translated as fullmoonstar, or lonelystar, so that makes “moon” make sense. her name literally means “lonely, separated, one half of a whole”. it makes sense she’d want to be the stoneteller, the closest to their ancestors, the closest to her family

Thanks for reminding me of the counting thing, I should cobble together a quick Clanmew guide on kitty counting. Onestar's name is an interesting quirk of the fact their number system is fraction-based, and his name is "Wholefractionstar" which also means "Fullmoon," "One," and even "Lonely"!

Anyway, that's a really good idea. I like that. Jay's Wing and Dove's Wing being twins, and then when she brings the Lake Cats to the mountain she changes her name to reflect how her whole life has been ripped in half to leave her brother's grave behind.

It probably also refers to the split in the Lake Cats; a portion of them will break off and become Guardians further north, and more will die. She could only save half of them, and in the process, she has become half of a whole herself. Half Moon, who protects what remains.
