I like both versions of starlight for different reasons but the wembley production is such a strange phenomenon because even though most of the characters are still there and relatively unchanged writing wise, they all feel completely separate from their original versions.

Even the characters that in theory have changed the least, like Dinah, who’s the same gender, and has kept the same songs, plot and lines, pretty much since the beginning, feel like completely different and new characters. Like, obviously there’s the massive changes in costumes, but the way she and others are portrayed is just so different from the way that the characters were originally written to be played that they feel like separate people with the same name. (This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just something I observed.)

And I also think that this really speaks to just how important casting and direction are in defining characters themselves. The chosen actor and the way they’re directed to play the character will always make a massive impact on how the character is received by the audience, no matter what the previously written lines are.

I think I just found my favorite version of Pumping Iron, Marc Cohn. Great voice, and even better lyrics. First off, I love how it emphasis more on the fact he workouts constantly and that it's nothing more than that. Second, that he works on his body to be bigger and stronger. I like that, simply because it goes with the headcannon of mine that GB likes to mess around and fix engines to be faster. Lastly "stronger than the Masters Of the Universe"... Oh my Starlight, GB you secret nerd. He likes fantasy cartoons, I love this. I'm forever keeping any and all versions of GB as a secret fantasy nerd, I will die on hill.

threw my thoughts about them onto a canvas I think Belles outfit was ok, her hair was super cute and I love that shes purple, I just wish it was more obvious that she was a sleeper car besides the fact that she had that neck pillow thing. So i kept a similar-ish shape to everything while changing what the clothes actually are! Fem GB on the other hand i REALLY dont like LOL I just cant stand the mullet, so here are my thoughts on what i would have done with her. In my mind rather then just bein a fem gb shes like Gb's sister or something like that so shes similar but different enough that she looks like her own person. I've been calling her 'Bug' in my head, but maybe I'd name her something like Ladybird methinks! anyways. yeah

Scrapyard!Greaseball

When she was little Greaseball was left in a scrapyard, she was raised by the others train there - a combination of trains who would steal pieces to sell to others, and run down trains who had no job. Eventually she learned that if she became a racer she could get into a championships and would make money + get a place to stay that would be much better than the scrap.

She started training, learning to race in all weather and tracks, carrying all different weights and sizes of cars/cargo so that she could win any race. She was obsessed with being 'the best'.

She became a racer, she worked her way up through different stations and races, arriving at Troubadour and settling there, except she believed that the only worth she had was based around her winning, it was the skill that had kept her going and allowed to her to get to where she was, if she didn't race then she would become worthless and return to the scrap, especially if she suddenly went from winning every race to losing.

Dinah knows a bit about her past in the scrap, this is why she is so understanding of greaseballs issues™️ however, it leads to her failing to set strict boundaries when they break up/get back together and greaseball never learns that maybe she shouldn't be a dick when she doesn't win, also because the other engines encourage her.
