Stacy Elizabeth Chu Lombardo is a 30-year-old mother of three (Gabriella, Andrea, and Cassandra). She is married to her high school sweetheart, Michael Lombardo. Lombardo Decades Challenge: Epilogue (Part 3/3)

Content/Trigger Warning: Brief COVID-19 mention

In 2021, once they received their vaccines and travel restrictions loosened, the Lombardo family was able to enjoy another trip to Granite Falls, where Michael spent the summer as a teen and where he had taken his own children.

There, the family was able to enjoy home-cooked meals, and Greg took the time to teach his son Michael how to fish.

Greg had a surprise— in the past year, he had compiled a book filled with stories of the Lombardo family, from his great-grandparents, Giuseppe and Lucia’s, arrival in the United States, to the present day, covering 131 years of family history.

Everyone was delighted to hear the story of the Lombardos.

Lombardo Decades Challenge: Epilogue (Part 1/3)

Content/Trigger Warning: COVID-19

In March of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic hit. The Lombardo family was able to shelter in place although they had to adjust to the changes.

Gabriella was a freshman at Willow Creek Community College when the pandemic began. She continued her studies remotely and is planning to be a music teacher. She is still dating Alexander Goth and talks to him on the phone regularly. She is 20 years old as of 2021.

Andrea and Cassie did remote classes for some time, too, until their school eventually reopened. Andrea has been enjoying video gaming on their new tablet. They want to go into computer engineering like their father. Cassie wants to be an artist. They are both 17 and will graduate high school in 2022.

2019: Gabriella receives a rose from her boyfriend, Alexander.

2018: Andrea is becoming more interested in video games and is even hosting their first game stream online.

2018: Carmen helps Cassie with her Spanish homework. As a native speaker, Carmen excels in tutoring her grandchildren.

2018: Cassie, 14, has started her first period. She has been having a lot of symptoms that have been affecting her mood and health.

2017: Liam just celebrated his 5th birthday. I can’t believe it— they really do grow up so fast! He looks just like his dad.

2015: Same-sex marriage was finally legalized in all 50 states in America. Tony Lombardo married his long-time partner Daniel Sarafyan in a ceremony in Newcrest.

2012: Cassie helps her grandmother make French toast.

2011: As the kids are getting older and more independent, Stacy is able to enjoy her hobbies.

Andrea’s Diary:

2013: “Cassie, there’s somethin’ I need to tell you,” I said this morning when we were playing with our dollhouse.

“Yeah, what is it, Andrea?”

“Y’know how I like to wear my hair short and don’t like dresses and pink and all that?”

“Of course. We’re so diffrent but we’re still best friends,” Cassie said.

I took a deep breath before I said anything. “I don’t like when people call me a girl. I don’t really feel like a girl.”

“Yeah? Well, what does being a girl feel like? I never thought about it.”

“I dunno. But it doesn’t seem like it fits me.”

“Does that make you a boy?” Cassie asked.

I hadn’t thought of myself as a boy either before. “I don’t know. I’m just me. You don’t think Mom and Dad will be mad at me, do you? They won’t force me to be girly?”

Cassie gave me a big hug. “No. They love you, Andrea. I love you, too.”

I felt a little bit better from that moment on.
