Blindspot - Barbells and Badges Trailer
(reupload because of a misspelled word that I fixed)
About two months ago I did a 1000 follower video giveaway on my Instagram. I let people submit Blindspot story ideas that I should turn into a fake trailer. The winner was @kate-dammit-run who submitted her fanfiction called, "Barbells and Badges".
It has been so fun to edit this and collab with Yas. It took me about a month and a half to create this because I wanted to make sure I did this right. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. Thanks, Yas for submitting this story. I can’t wait for the rest of it. You can read the Fanfiction here.

Frankie Addams, a lonely, twelve-year-old girl whose brother Jarvis and his fiancée Janice are about to get married, has decided (uninvited) to join the couple on their honeymoon and move in with them: “I love them so much,” they are “the we of me. Despite the fact that Frankie has undertaken to change her name to F. Jasmine to coordinate with theirs, she will inevitably be left behind, threatening to die rather than to live on in this stiflingly small Southern town.
This is the setting of Carson McCullers’ play, The Member of the Wedding, produced by the Williamstown Theatre Festival—the only revival in a 2018 season filled with premieres. Director Gaye Taylor Upchurch and her cast approach this 1950 classic as they would a new play: by asking rigorous questions in rehearsal and taking nothing for granted. Adapted by McCullers from her 1946 novel, the production ran for just over 500 performances on Broadway, starring Ethel Waters, Julie Harris and seven-year-old Brandon deWilde, all of whom reprised their roles for a 1952 film adaptation. McCullers, who grew up in Georgia and was ill for much of her short life (she died at age 50), achieved fame for her debut novel, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, which was also filmed.
The Member of the Wedding is not plot-driven, but instead focuses on the time period, the place, and its three major characters. The time is 1945: Frankie’s brother Jarvis is a soldier serving in Alaska, while newspaper articles announce the dropping of the atom bomb. Racial issues abound: the American military was segregated, Jim Crow laws were in effect in the south, and there was an upsurge of lynchings. Many of the victims were black soldiers returning from the war.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
At Williamstown, the excellent design team provides visual representation of the location and time: the lovely set (designed by Laura Jellinek) consists of the small period kitchen and large yard of the Addams house in an unnamed town, complete with an arbor and curtains where Frankie (Tavi Gevinson), an amateur playwright, invents and performs her own plays, along with her younger cousin, John Henry West (Logan Schuyler Smith). Clint Ramos’s splendid costumes figure prominently in the production, contextualizing it, but they also reveal character by illustrating the wild get-ups used by Frankie and John Henry in their play-acting as well as the over-the-top orange ruffled gown Frankie purchases for her brother’s wedding. The beautifully atmospheric lighting (by Isabella Byrd) suggesting long summer days and evening shadows, is complemented by the perpetual neighborhood noises supplied by Bray Poor, whose original music includes a piano being tuned, trumpets blaring, and a haunting piano finale as the curtain falls.
The three characters whose lives and longings fill this play are Frankie, John Henry, and Berenice Sadie Brown (Roslyn Ruff), nominally the Addams’ cook but so much more. Today we would call Frankie “gender fluid,” with her masculine name and clothing (features she shares with McCullers herself), and her blond crew-cut. One of the opening lines of the novel defines Frankie: “She belongs to no club and was a member of nothing in the world.” So in the play. Her one friend moved away, the girls’ club next door rejects her application to join, and now she throws herself headlong into a doomed attempt to be a member of the upcoming wedding of her brother (Tom Peckinka) to his pretty fiancée Janice (Louisa Jacobson). The family history is bleak: her mother died giving birth to Frankie, and her father (James Waterston), a racist who spends nearly all his time in his jewelry store, doesn’t really know or care to know his daughter. Only Berenice understands and comforts her. She is a true mother to both Frankie and young John Henry, whose mother (Liv Rooth) lives next door but is rarely seen.
John Henry is blithely unclear about his identity: sporting blond curls, he loves to dress up in female clothing, play with dolls, and wishes that each child could be half boy and half girl. Smith is adorable, as he runs, jumps and cartwheels across the stage, blowing bubbles and hiding under the kitchen table, curling up in Berenice’s arms, seeking to be loved. Frankie, whose adolescent rebelliousness and self-destructive behavior makes her harder to love, is fully inhabited by Gevinson as she careens from one crisis to another, suffering from panic attacks, and desperately needing Berenice’s steadying hand.
Ruff’s Berenice is also lonely—having lost her beloved first husband Ludie to pneumonia, she proceeded to remarry three more times, each husband seeming to resemble “pieces of Ludie” but always “the wrong pieces.” She hates to be alone, but isn’t in love with her boyfriend T. T. Williams (Leon Addison Brown) and spends much time and emotion worrying about her volatile foster brother, Honey Camden Brown (Will Cobbs). Ruff gives a beautifully understated performance, never afraid to tell the children her honest opinion, sharing her feelings without regard to their youth, humming through difficult moments, and visibly trying to protect her charges from life’s blows.
The first act belongs to Frankie, as she rages against her existence in this “empty ugly house,” which can get tiresome and repetitious, despite Gevinson’s mastery of her character. But the second act, dominated by Berenice, contains the payoff. Movingly and meticulously directed by Upchurch and flawlessly performed, this act fully justifies a revival of The Member of the Wedding.
THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING runs from August 5—19. Tickets may be purchased online at wtfestival.org or call 413-458-3253.

T. Williams), Will Cobbs (Honey Camden Brown), Ben Ahlers (Barney MacKean), Delilah Napier (Helen Fletcher), Sarah Haga (Doris).

ARLINGTON, Texas | Peterson, Cards take 27-3 preseason win as Cowboys stars sit
New Post has been published on https://is.gd/MfdurL
ARLINGTON, Texas | Peterson, Cards take 27-3 preseason win as Cowboys stars sit
ARLINGTON, Texas — Patrick Peterson hasn’t faced a starting quarterback in the preseason.
The three-time All-Pro cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals is getting himself in regular-season form anyway.
Peterson returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown after Dallas decided to sit quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott in what was supposed to be the dress rehearsal, and the Cardinals rolled to a 27-3 exhibition victory over the Cowboys on Sunday night.
The Cardinals (3-0) forced eight turnovers to give them 16 takeaways in the preseason. That included two muffed punts by Dallas (0-3), the second recovered for a touchdown by Trent Sherfield to open the scoring in the first quarter.
Prescott’s absence made it three straight weeks that Arizona didn’t face the opposing starter. San Diego’s Philip Rivers skipped the opener, and Drew Brees sat for New Orleans last week.
Sam Bradford led two largely ineffective series for the Cardinals after completing all seven of his passes in the first two preseason games. He was 1 of 4 for 6 yards as Arizona generated just one first down.
Josh Rosen, the 10th overall pick and likely backup to Bradford in the regular season, didn’t play after injuring the thumb on his throwing (right) hand in practice last week.
The Cowboys were missing center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin, part of the reason Prescott didn’t play. The other reason was a longer-than-planned touchdown drive of 16 plays on Prescott’s final possession of the second preseason game against Cincinnati.
Owner Jerry Jones said last week he didn’t need to see Elliott, the 2016 NFL rushing leader as a rookie, in a preseason game. It figures to be the first time in three seasons that Elliott, who is healthy, will miss the entire preseason since starters are generally expected to sit in the finales.
EARLY CELEBRATION Peterson stepped in front of Cooper Rush’s pass to Tavon Austin along the sideline and held the ball in the air most of the way on the easy stroll to the end zone. Rush, who won the backup job as a rookie with a strong preseason last year, was 11 of 17 for 93 yards with two interceptions.
Peterson also forced a fumble by toppling Rod Smith when the running back tried to hurdle him. Smith was originally ruled down, but replay showed the ball coming out before his arm hit the ground. The Cardinals intercepted three passes and recovered three fumbles, not counting the muffed punts. ANOTHER MILESTONE
Dallas defensive end Randy Gregory had another milestone in his return after missing last season on a substance-abuse suspension. Gregory, who made his preseason debut last week, easily beat starting left tackle D.J. Humphries with a spin move to sack Bradford on Arizona’s third offensive play.
ANOTHER MISSING STAR
Like Elliott, Arizona running back David Johnson didn’t play, likely signaling the end of his preseason at eight carries for 50 yards with a touchdown. Chase Edmonds had 55 yards on 11 carries. T.J. Logan, a fifth-round pick last year before spending the entire season on injured reserve, ran 59 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
MOMENT OF SILENCE
A moment of silence was held before the national anthem for the late Sen. John McCain, with his hometown Cardinals on the sideline. Receiver Larry Fitzgerald looked up to see the image of McCain on the huge video board hanging over the center of the field, and the crowd cheered afterward. McCain died Saturday.
INJURIES
Cardinals: RB D.J. Foster, listed third in the depth chart, injured a knee during a touchback on a kickoff and didn’t return. Cowboys: Already thin at safety, Dallas lost Kavon Frazier to a left shoulder injury in the first quarter. He was starting in place of Xavier Woods, who injured a hamstring last week against Cincinnati.
NATIONAL ANTHEM
There were no apparent protests during the pregame playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
UP NEXT

Blindspot ABC Challenge (Version 2): Day 19 - S for Sarah and Sawyer Weller
Sarah and Sawyer brought out the best in Kurt. I never understood why she ran off to Oregon just at the point when she and her brother needed each other the most. I hope we get to see her and Sawyer again in Season 3 (and not just in a Jeller wedding flashback).
Sarah was good for Reade too. The poor guy deserves a break and there is no reason to keep them apart now. Let Reade and Zapata remain BFFs and give them both a love interest in S3.

Forget Sandstorm. The important question is who has Felix?
Mayfair's dog was last seen in Season 1 Episode 22 (If Love a Rebel Death Will Render), where we discover that Kurt had been keeping an eye on him while Mayfair was detained for questioning. Did the authorities seize Felix when they sealed off Mayfair's house? There was no sign of him when Patterson, Reade and Zapata broke in, and Patterson - who'd been there enough times to notice the new picture - didn't even think to mention him. Kurt's apartment is a sad empty space, clearly dog-less. Were Sawyer and Sarah accompanied by a doggy friend on their hasty departure to Portland? Or has the worst befallen poor forgotten Felix?
We need Blindspot to be renewed or we may never know.
