Master Pins In Locks, What They Are Used For, Why You Don’t Want Them
Locks have been around for centuries, providing security and peace of mind to individuals and businesses. However, as technology advances, so do the methods of breaking into these locks. One such method is the use of master pins in locks, which can make it easier for unauthorized individuals to gain entry. Now, we will discuss what master pins are, what they are used for, and why you don’t want them in your locks.
What are master pins?
Master pins are small pins that are placed in the shear line of a lock cylinder. The shear line is the point at which the cylinder and the housing of the lock meet, and it is where the key pushes the pins to align with the cylinder. Master pins are designed to be slightly longer or shorter than the other pins in the lock, which allows the lock to be opened by a master key in addition to the regular key. The master key is designed to lift both the regular pins and the master pins, allowing the lock to be opened by two different keys.
What are they used for?
Master pins are typically used in locks that are part of a master key system. This is a system in which multiple locks can be opened by a single key, but each lock can also be opened by its own individual key. This is a convenient way to provide access to different areas of a building to different groups of people. For example, a janitorial staff may have a master key that opens all of the doors in a building, while individual offices would have their own keys that only open their specific doors.
Why you don’t want them in your locks?
While master key systems can be convenient, they also come with some risks. The biggest risk is that if a master key falls into the wrong hands, it can provide easy access to every lock in the system. This is where master pins come into play. By adding master pins to the locks in a system, it allows for the use of a master key, but it also weakens the overall security of the locks. If someone were to obtain a copy of the master key, they could potentially gain access to any area of the building that is supposed to be secure.
Additionally, master pins can also make the locks easier to pick. Because the pins are designed to be slightly longer or shorter than the regular pins, it can make it easier for someone to find the right combination of pins to pick the lock. This is especially true if the lock has been poorly designed or installed, as it can make it even easier to find the right combination of pins.
Another issue with master pins is that they can wear down over time, which can cause the lock to fail. Because the master pins are designed to be different from the regular pins, they are often made from softer materials, which can wear down faster than the regular pins. This can cause the master pins to become stuck in the lock, which can prevent the lock from working properly.
Finally, master key systems can also be more expensive than traditional lock systems. Not only do the locks themselves cost more, but the installation and maintenance of the locks can also be more expensive. This is because master key systems are more complex than traditional lock systems, which requires more time and expertise to install and maintain.
In addition to the risks outlined above, another issue with master pins is that they can be susceptible to accidental keying errors. If a regular key is inserted into a lock that has a master pin, it may be able to turn the cylinder but the lock will not properly engage. This can lead to a false sense of security, as the person may believe that the lock is locked when in reality it is not.
Furthermore, even if a master key system is designed and installed correctly, it still has its limitations. If an individual with a master key loses it or has it stolen, the entire system becomes compromised. This can be especially problematic in situations where the master key has been issued to multiple individuals or is easily accessible to unauthorized personnel.
Overall, the decision to use a master key system and master pins in locks should not be taken lightly. It is important to carefully consider the level of security needed for each area of the building and to work with a qualified locksmith to design and install the system. Additionally, regular maintenance and testing of the system should be performed to ensure that it is functioning properly and to catch any potential issues before they become major problems.
Master pins in locks are used to allow for the use of a master key in a master key system, but they come with significant risks. They can weaken the overall security of the locks, make them easier to pick, wear down over time, and be susceptible to accidental keying errors. While master key systems can be convenient, it is important to carefully consider whether the benefits outweigh the risks before implementing them.

part 1, part 2, part 3
~
You’ve been to a lot of Hughes centered hockey games in your life. You’ve been to watch both Quinn and Luke play during their time in Michigan, and you’ve been to watch several of Jack’s minor league games when you were teenagers.
Though somehow, despite how long you’ve been intertwined with the hockey breathing family, you had never been to a professional game. You talked about making a trip to Vancouver with your family at some point to watch Quinn, but it never worked out with your school schedule. You wanted to come watch Jack with the Devils a few times, too, but the plans always fell through.
You wish you’d tried harder right about now, because walking into the Prudential center, red and black everywhere you look, you’re a little overwhelmed.
Jack had told you exactly where to go and who to call if you got lost, but getting there wasn’t the issue. Finally having your car with you helped with that, considering it was delivered just yesterday. The company that you hired to haul your car to you had gotten the date of your move wrong, so you had been depending on Jack and Luke for rides anywhere outside of walking distance.
Today, though, they were needed at the rink far earlier than you would’ve been allowed in. And, in true superstitious hockey player fashion, they claim they can’t ride to the rink together for home games because the last time they did they lost the game. So, you were extremely excited when you got the call that your car had just been parked outside of the apartment complex the day before.
You had found the arena just fine, leaving your car with the valet Jack had told you to go to. You had gone to the entrance designated for friends and family of the players, flashing the locker room pass Jack had given you, and even managed to find your way to the public areas of the arena by yourself.
The issue you had run in to stems from the fact that not only had you never attended an NHL game before, but you had never attended an NHL game alone.
Even though you blended in with the crowd outwardly, donning a devil’s jersey like everyone else, you were way out of your element. Usually at the boys’ games you had Ellen and Jim with you, or your own parents. They always made you feel like you belonged a little more, because they would explain certain fan behavior to you.
You knew all you had to do was simply sit and watch the game, but with the energy being so chaotic leading to the rivalry game, you knew that the fans were going to be absolutely buzzing. People were walking past you, jumping in front of you for high-fives and fist bumps, yelling “GO DEVS!” before walking away like nothing had ever happened. You didn’t miss the occasional dirty look from anyone in a blue Rangers jersey, either.
When you had first made your way to the foyer area at the front of the arena, you had already seen security having to separate a Devils fan and a Rangers fan. They had been screaming at one another over something that you couldn’t make out when the Rangers fan slammed his fist into the Devils fan’s cheek.
The scene made you a little apprehensive about how the game was going to go. You knew this was one of the biggest rivalries that existed in the hockey world, and you had read that the Rangers had a tendency to play extremely physical, so you were nervous for all of the Devils players you were growing fond of.
You eventually make your way to your seat, but not before going full fan mode and buying a foam finger at one of the many merchandise stands you passed on your way. You thought Jack and Luke would get a kick out of it, figuring you’d need all the help you could get after they see what you’re wearing.
You kept your promise to Nico, currently sporting the number 13 on your back. You felt a little silly, honestly. You had never not worn a Hughes jersey to a hockey game before; you always wore the jersey of whatever brother you were watching, even if you had to buy one. But the conversation you had with Nico a few nights prior kept playing on a loop in your mind. The promise of a hat trick was too tempting to miss out on. Plus, even if he didn’t get a hatty, you knew you’d have the chance to make him do anything you wanted him to.
As you walk down the stairs towards your seat, foam finger on display proudly, you take in the pure atmosphere of the place. The arena looked huge from where you stood, lights dimmed and a red shadow cast over everything in sight. Not many people had made their way into the seating area yet, but there were a few fans bunched around the glass, waiting for the players to come out and start their warm ups.
You were pleasantly surprised when you found your seat free of any bodies, being able to settle in and wait for the arrival of the players on the ice. As the minutes ticked by, a few people made their way to your area, smiles and chants of ‘go Devils!’ once again filling the air around you.
You could see why people enjoyed coming to games so much. The sense of community was so strong in this building. Everyone was here to support the same cause, one goal in mind: a Devils win. You started to survey all the signs that fans had brought, setting them up against the glass for the players to see. Some of them had clever saying or riddles on them, some simply reading “puck?” with their favorite player’s number on it.
You also noted how many people were wearing Jack and Luke’s last name on their back. Even as you were driving up to the arena, you noticed the large presence of 86’s and 43’s surrounding you. It was odd, really, to see how many people were supporting your boys. It made your heart swell with pride, a little bit. To physically see the amount of people that believe in them the way you always have was enough to sell you on attending every Devils game from here until the end of time.
The newfound knowledge also further calmed your nerves surrounding your decision of wearing Nico’s jersey tonight. You had seen plenty of number 13’s floating around in the crowd, too, but Jack and Luke clearly had no lack of fan support.
The sound of pucks hitting the ice is what broke your attention from observing the people around you. You instantly clocked Luke’s curls, finding Jack not far from where Luke had settled on the ice. You looked around, trying to find a familiar head of brown hair you hadn’t seen nearly enough. Was he not warming up today? Was he okay? Did Luke actually hurt him the other day and he wasn’t playing today?
You don’t remember either of your roommates mentioning that their captain was hurt. That’s something they would’ve mentioned at least once, right? You continue to scan the ice for any sign of the Swiss man you couldn’t get off of your mind, not paying attention when Jack started skating in your direction. A loud bang on the glass in front of you was what finally broke your investigation.
“You’re here!” Jack yells through the glass at you, ignoring all the shouts of his name from the people standing around you.
“I told you I wasn’t going to miss it!” you shouted back, wondering if he could even hear you in the noisy environment.
Movement behind Jack caught your eye, Luke making his way over to stand next to his brother, causing an entirely new wave of sound to erupt around you.
“Bouy! You made it!” Luke shares his brother’s surprise, eyes flitting down to the jersey you’re wearing, noticing the black C that neither his nor Jack’s jersey had.
“Did you guys really have no faith I would show up tonight? Am I that bad of a friend?” you ask them, wondering why they thought you would be a no-show.
“Know it isn’t your scene, is all,” Jack shouts back, shrugging his shoulders, smile on his face.
“Uh-uh, it is now. Look, I even bought a foam finger! I’m legit, now!” you wave your newest Devils merch around.
They both shake their heads and laugh, your eyes wandering to the ice behind them once again.
“Who ya looking for, huh?” Luke is the one to notice they no longer held your attention, turning his head to look at his teammates warming up behind them.
“Oh, no one. Just, taking it all in,” you try to recover. Luke simply looks at you, the moment he caught you staring at Nico in your living room in the back of his mind.
“It’s awesome, right? I’m telling you, you’ll be wanting to come to every home game by the end of the night. There’s nothing like a Devils home game,” Jack tells you, oblivious to Luke’s implications moments ago.
Jack must have decided it was time to acknowledge some of the fans around you, skating off after he finishes his statement.
“He’ll be out in a minute, just so you know. Got hung up in a pre-game interview,” Luke’s muffled voice travels through the glass.
“Huh? Who? What’re you talking about?” you look at him, confusion taking over your features.
Luke deadpans at you, basically telling you to cut the bullshit. “You know who, Y/N.”
“Really, don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m here for you and Jack, remember?” you remind him.
“Yeah? Then why do you have Cap’s jersey on?” Luke questions, raising an eyebrow at you.
Your head shoots down to look at the jersey you were wearing, cheeks turning red. You had almost forgotten you were even wearing it, too distracted by the atmosphere around you.
“Don’t think you’re getting away with that, by the way. He’ll be getting an earful once he gets out here, don’t you worry. And god help him when Jack finally notices. Might be the first time a player gets a penalty against his own teammate,” Luke continues, looking over to where Jack is chucking pucks over the ice a few feet away.
“It was Nico’s idea. Said he wanted to mess with you guys, is all. Then said if I wore it he would score a hat trick, and if he didn’t he owed me a favor of my choosing. Figured it’d be fun to mess with him and make him do some outrageous task. You know I never miss the opportunity to get under yours and Jack’s skin, either. Couldn’t resist the offer,” you confess.
Luke rolls his eyes, not wanting to call bullshit out here in the open like this, deciding to save the rest of the conversation for when you get home tonight.
You were going to respond, try to further plead your case, when you see a blur of red jump onto the ice from over near the Devils’ bench. Any attention you had granted to Luke was gone, watching a much anticipated head of hair flopping around as Nico does a few circles on the ice. You watch him wave to a few fans around the glass, conversing with a few of his teammates as he made his way around the ice.
Luke watches you follow Nico’s figure glide around on the ice, laughing to himself at how you were just trying to convince him you weren’t looking for anyone.
“I think I’ve proved my point,” you barely hear as Luke starts to skate away, noticing his captain skating over towards your section of the glass.
You’ve tuned out the shouts of Nico’s name around you as he makes eye contact with you, skating towards you with a smile.
“Hey! You’re here!” he winks at you, parroting Jack and Luke’s words. “And I see you chose the right jersey!” he lets his eyes fall to the jersey swallowing your body, eyes a bit bright than they were a few seconds ago.
“Why did no one think I was going to show up?” you huff out, throwing your arms up, foam finger still attached to your hand.
“Jack and Luke were convinced you’d bail because of your aversion to hockey crowds. But I see you’ve made yourself right at home,” he chuckles, nodding towards the foam finger.
“Well, yeah. Had to make myself official, y’know?” you give the foam accessory a small wave.
Nico laughs, sliding his feet back and forth in short strokes, planting his stick on the ice for stability.
“You ready to score that hat trick you promised, Cap?” you shout to him, crossing your arms in a challenging stance.
“Never been more ready in my life, Bouy,” Nico smirks.
“If you keep using that nickname I won’t be so nice in choosing a favor for you to do when you don’t score your hatty,” you threaten, hating that Jack introduced the nickname to Nico in the first place.
“Oh, I’m gonna score that hatty,” he moves closer to the glass, making sure you can hear him. “My good luck charm did exactly what I asked her to do, so I’d say my chances are pretty solid.”
You’re so focused on Nico’s words that you completely miss Jack making his way back over to your area, slapping Nico on the back once he reaches his destination.
“Hey, Cap! ‘Bout time you made it out here. Was starting to wonder if someone was going to have to come and save you.”
Nico removes his eyes from your flushed face, turning to chat with Jack as you’re left speechless.
You miss the rest of their conversation, too caught up in Nico calling you his good luck charm. You were entering very dangerous territory, here. Every conversation you have with the man bringing you farther and farther into a rabbit hole you might not be able to climb back out of.
On top of being stunned, you’re also confused. You’ve overheard Luke and Jack talk about Nico’s interactions with women. The amount of times they’ve poked fun at his obliviousness to women’s advances not forgotten. Or the way they claim he’s too focused on his career to think about anything other than hockey. You remember one story Jack told of Nico completely misreading a conversation with a woman at the bar, begging Jack to take him home after he all but ran away from the woman, claiming a stomach ache when she tried to coax him into an uber.
So, what was different about you? He clearly had no issues with casually sliding in comments that, although you try to convince yourself otherwise, are naturally flirtatious in their nature. When you let your eyes wander you notice Luke watching the interaction. He follows the way Nico’s gaze flicks over to you every few seconds, even though he’s in the middle of a conversation with Jack. Luke meets your eyes and gives you look you can’t decipher.
“Y/N, what the fuck are you wearing?” you hear Jack’s voice, snapping your head to look at his face, his eyes focused on the black C on the upper left side of the jersey you’re wearing.
“A…jersey?” you answer apprehensively.
“Yeah, I can see that. But why do you have on Neeks’ jersey, specifically?” He asks you, but looks at the player standing next to him.
“Guess she decided the better jersey wasn’t even in the Hughes family at all,” Nico references the argument Jack and Luke were having days prior.
Jack looks back at you, expecting an explanation from you. You open your mouth a few times to answer, but the reasoning of ‘I just wore it to get under your skin’ doesn’t seem appropriate when you can see the underlying anger on his face.
“You know what, I don’t have time for this. I need to actually warm up, but this conversation isn’t over,” Jack shoots to two of you a glare before skating away, huffing like a little kid.
“I knew he would get mad!” you point an accusing (foam) finger at Nico.
“Don’t worry, he’ll get over it. It’s just one game.”
“Well I’ll let you handle this then, mr. nonchalant. It was your idea, it’s your bomb to diffuse,” you wipe your hands of the situation.
“Gladly,” Nico flashes you a smile. “By the way, heads up,” he warns you before chucking a puck over the glass, watching it land on the ground beside you. You bend over to pick it up, noticing the writing on the back.
You read the scribble of “hatty” followed by the date and Nico’s signature in silver marker, looking up to see him skating off with a wink.
———————————————————————————
After you watched Jack throw his fit about you wearing Nico’s jersey from afar, earning nothing but a laugh from the jersey owner himself, they both skated away from each other to start actually warming up for the game ahead. You noticed Jack kept glaring at Nico, shoulder checking him a few times for good measure. Jack wouldn’t even look over at you, earning a pout from you when you made eye contact with Luke, begging him to do something to make Jack love you again.
Luke just shrugged at you as if to say “told you so,” choosing to focus on his warm ups instead. As the players left the ice to prepare for puck drop, you watched Jack finally look over to you, sporting a glare and giving a shake of his head before he disappeared from your view.
Even after the game started, you could still feel Jack’s pouting from where you sat. He was hesitant to pass the puck to Nico, costing them a few chances at goals. You cursed him every time, worried that this would’ve happened. You don’t know what was said, but during one of the tv timeouts, Nico skated over to Jack and all you could see was a finger poking out to jab Jack in the chest. Jack’s face grew more and more unimpressed as the conversation went on, but ultimately Jack nodded and skated off, rolling his eyes when he looked over to you.
For the rest of the period, you noticed Jack was better about passing the puck, no longer alienating Nico from his plays. He was still mad, though. You could see it in his body language and how he was playing rougher than he normally does. As soon as the first period was over, you were out of your seat and making your way down to the locker rooms. You flashed your pass and waited patiently after you asked someone to go fetch Jack for you, claiming it was an emergency.
Jack comes walking out of the locker room into the hallway, towel around his neck, jersey left behind.
“Okay, get it all out now, or so help me god I’ll jump onto that ice and beat some sense into you,” you tell him, wanting him to get all of his anger out of his system.
“You always wear one of our jersey’s, Y/N. Always. This is your first time watching me and Luke in a professional game, and you’re wearing someone else’s jersey?” Jack asks you, a small bit of hurt showing on his face.
“Jack, it was a joke. A last minute plan between the two of us. We thought it’d be funny since you and Luke were arguing about it,” you tell him, feeling a little bad that he genuinely seems hurt. “Plus, I didn’t really want to choose between you and Luke. It was hard. I had all three jerseys laying on my bed earlier, and I just couldn’t choose between the two of you.”
“I still don’t like that you wore someone else’s jersey,” Jack grumbles.
“It’s just one game, Jack, it’ll be fine. I promise this isn’t going to become a habit,” you assure him, reaching up to ruffle his hair, regretting your decision when you feel how sweaty it is.
“You sure about that?” Jack asks you, catching you off guard.
“What?”
“Oh c’mon, Y/N,” Jack starts, dropping his arms to his sides. “Don’t act like you haven’t been staring at him the whole game.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you feel your cheeks heating.
“You can’t lie to me, remember? Know you too well,” he tells you, reminding you he’s always been able to tell when you’re caught in a lie.
“I mean…maybe I’ve been watching him. So what? He’s your friend, Jack. Not to mention our neighbor and the only teammate of yours I really know,” you try to justify.
“Bullshit. You’re into him.”
“No, I’m not!” you say too quickly, your voice going up in pitch, causing you to clear your throat. The sudden change in conversation came out of nowhere, causing your brain to short circuit.
“Oh yeah? Then why do you ask about him every time Luke and I mention practice, or our jobs in general? Why do you always ask us if Nico made it home when we get home from practice? Or when you spent basically the whole night talking to him at the bar your first night here?” Jack asks you, waiting for your answers.
“I- I don’t ask about him that much,” you say, trying to retrace your conversations with Jack and Luke. Maybe you do ask about him more than you thought. “And I spent the night at the bar being shuffled around from table to table, which you did!” you remind him, having felt like you were speed dating, but platonically.
“When I came to get you to leave you were completely alone with him in a dark corner of the bar,” Jack throws back at you.
“He came and found me. I was on the phone with my mom and he decided to come check on me. I had nothing to do with that,” you defend.
Jack still doesn’t look convinced, crossing his arms once again, tilting his head towards you. “Listen, I’m not trying to start an argument. You know how I feel about having a thing for my teammates. But, out of all the guys on the team, I guess you could’ve done worse.”
You open your mouth to respond, trying to defend yourself once again, but Jack interrupts you before you can get a word out.
“Listen, none of this is really important right now. We can talk about it when I’m not in the middle of a game, but I still don’t really like that you wore his jersey instead of mine or Luke’s,” he circles back to the original conversation. “I mean, you’ve known him for like, two weeks. Joke or not. You know what people think when you wear someone’s jersey, right?”
“It’s not like that, I swear. And it’s not like I’m the only one here wearing his jersey, Jack,” you tell him.
“I know, but I’m just telling you to be careful. Nico’s a good guy, but he’s also a professional hockey player. He’s going to have…admirers. And once they see that you’re actually close to the team and his jersey is the one you’re sporting, things could get messy,” Jack warns you.
You stood there for a few moments, trying to figure out how the conversation even led to what it is. You know Jack is just trying to watch out for you, but he’s jumping to conclusions way too soon. It’s one game, and no one even knows who you are. Plus, it’s a harmless joke. It’s not like you’re wearing his jersey for any other reason.
“Thanks, Jack, really. But I assure you, I only wore it because he suggested it. He wanted to pick fun at you and Luke, that’s it. I’m sure he’ll tell the same story if asked about it,” you reiterated, trying to reassure him.
“Wait, he asked you to wear his jersey?”Jack asks you, surprise in his eyes.
“Yeah, he asked me to wear it to poke fun at the two of you. Then told me he’d score a hat trick if I agreed to wear it, so I did. Thought it’d be fun to see,” you shrugged, not seeing the big deal.
“So, he wanted you to wear his jersey and he promised to score a hatty if you did?” You nod at Jack’s echo of your words.
Jack stares at you, looking like he wants to say something but decides against it. The look on his face has you wondering if he knows something you don’t. You decided to let it go, though, and shoo him back into the locker room.
“Alright, talk over. Go back in there and get ready, you have some Rags to beat!” you push him away from you. You hear him laugh as you walk away, thinking about the conversation the whole way back to your seat.
———————————————————————————
Shit. He actually did it. He scored a fucking hat trick. The crowd goes absolutely wild when Nico’s shot sails straight into the goal as the buzzer sounds, signaling the end of the game. You jump up from your seat, screaming as loud as you can with the crowd around you. You bang against the glass, cheering for Nico as he celebrates with his teammates.
Once he breaks away from the group hug, he skates right over to you, pointing a gloved finger in your direction. You flash him a huge smile, not even caring that you lost whatever bet – if you could even call it that – you had going on with Nico. You were too high on the atmosphere. The goal causing the Devils to win in the last second, ego a little inflated at the thought that you could’ve contributed to it.
After the players left the ice and the crowd started to disperse a bit, you slowly made your way back down to the locker room, having been told to wait there after the game by Jack. You took in the sight of the happy fans milling about the arena, soaking in the energy for a little bit longer. You didn’t realize just how much you were soaking it in until you realized the time, figuring the guys would be changed and ready to go any minute.
As you were walking down the hallway to where other friends and family of the team gathered, you felt a harsh contact with your shoulder. It flung your body back, nearly making you lose your balance until you caught yourself at the last second.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t see you,” you said, knowing it wasn’t your fault, but apologizing anyways.
“Obviously,” you heard a deep voice say, a man in a blue Rangers jersey standing across from you, rolling his eyes.
“Well, no need to be rude about it. You bumped in to me, y’know,” you grumbled out, a little pissed as the man’s response after you apologized first.
“Watch it, bitch. Just cause your shitshow of a team won tonight doesn’t mean you’re truly better than us. Just wait till next game. We’ll smoke your asses,” he spits out at you, letting you smell the alcohol on his hot breath.
“What the hell does the game have to do with you bumping in to me? The two are completely unrelated,” you question, stepping back and scrunching your nose at the foul smell.
“Keep talking, bitch, and I’ll show you just how bad we can beat the Devils asses,” the man steps forward, stumbling a bit before correcting himself.
“Alright, chill out. It’s just a game, buddy,” you back up against the wall next to you, trying to put some distance between you and him.
“God, why do you puck bunnies never shut the fuck up? I literally told you to stop talking, what part of that don’t you understand?” he backs you up even further, not leaving much room for you to make an escape.
“Technically you told me to keep talking,” you say before you can think better of it.
The man basically growls at you raising his hand back. To do what, you never find out, because a voice brings him back to reality, making him seem to remember he’s in public.
“I suggest you drop your hand and step away.”
The man’s head whips around, looking behind him. Once he steps back from you slightly, you make your escape, removing yourself from the wall.
You see Nico standing a few feet away from you, a grey suit on his body, his hair covered by a cream color beanie.
“Oh, how convenient. Captain to the rescue,” the guy slurs, turning his body to fully face Nico.
“Do I need to call security or are you going to be smart and get the fuck out of my arena?” Nico spits, surprising you with his harshness.
“Whatever. I’m going. Don’t be so dramatic. The puck bunny started it, anyways,” the man waves you off, stumbling away without a glance back.
Nico watches him walk away, stepping towards you the second the man is out of view.
“Are you okay? Did he do anything to you? Do I need to go get security?” He fires off questions, concern present in his brown eyes.
“No, I’m fine. He bumped into me then started spewing some bullshit about the game. I asked him how the two were related and he just kept talking about how he was gonna show me how ‘we can really beat the Devils asses’,” you put up air quotes.
“Are you sure?” his eyes continue to look you up and down, darting across your face to check for any sign showing you weren’t okay.
“Really, it’s fine. He didn’t do anything. Thank you, though. For scaring him away,” you assure him, causing him to relax.
“Of course. Seems to be a pattern, after all. Me running to your rescue,” he references your previous encounters. Letting you into your apartment, getting the bartender’s attention so you could order a drink that same night, his help when you were making dinner just a few nights ago. He really did always show up when you needed help.
You look up at him with a smile. “My very own knight in shining armor.”
He bows dramatically. “M’lady.”
You laugh at the action, causing Nico to join in.
“So I guess I owe you a congratulations, huh?” you ask after your laughter dies down.
Nico beams at you, pulling a stack of three pucks out of the bag slung over his shoulder, the tape they’re held together by reading ‘hat trick”. He holds them out towards you, signaling you to grab them.
“Here, they’re yours. You’re the reason I got them, after all,” he tells you, placing the pucks into your hand.
“I don’t think I had anything to do with it,” you look at your hand before looking back up at Nico.
“Sure you did. I told you if you wore the jersey I’d score one. And you did. And then I scored three goals. I told you, you’re my goodluck charm,” he smiles at you, shrugging like a hat trick was no big deal.
You roll your eyes at him, trying to fight a smile. “Sure, whatever you say, Cap.”
He chuckles at your sarcasm, shaking his head at you.
“Guess I need to pocket that ridiculous favor I had in mind, then,” you tell him, toying with the pucks, thinking about how he gave you four different ones tonight.
“I’m sure you can save it for future use. Think you’ll be able to cash it in sooner than you think,” he tells you, a confused look on your face.
“You won, though. I wore the jersey, you scored three goals. That was the whole thing,” you remind him, not knowing where he was going with his statement.
“You never asked me what I got if I did score a hatty.”
You were taken aback by his words, not realizing that was part of the deal. “Okay…well, what do you get, then?”
“You have to do me a favor,” he tells you, grin on his face.
You furrow your brows, confused. “I thought the whole point of my end of the deal was because I already did you a favor?”
“You did. But now I get to ask you for another one,” he rocks back on his heels, way too giddy about the situation.
You look at him, a little scared at what he has planned. He just continues to look at you, his shit-eating grin still extremely present.
“Okay…what is it?” you ask him, getting impatient.
“Oh, I’m not telling you yet. I’ll cash it in when I’m ready,” He replies, amused at the unamused look on your face.
“Seriously? You’re not going to tell me what cruel fate you’re subjecting me to?”
You hear the voices of Jack and Luke echoing through the hallway on the other end of the room. You turn your head away from Nico, watching the two brothers make their way towards you, lost in their own conversation.
“All in due time, dear Bouy,” Nico says, taking a step back from you.
Your distaste for the nickname shows on your face, causing Nico’s eyes to twinkle, loving how mad you get over the silly name he still hasn’t learned the origin of.
“Whatever. Keep it to yourself, then. I don’t care,” you lie.
“Have a good night. See you soon,” Nico says with a wink, turning to walk in the direction of Jack and Luke, giving them a wave as he passes them. Both of them look up and notice you standing where he just came from, turning to look at each other with raised eyebrows.
You look down at the pucks in your hand once more, looking at the emblem on top noting what game and date they were from. When you look at the bottom of the last puck, you catch a streak of silver reflecting off of the fluorescent lights in the hallway. Turning it completely upside down, you make out the 9 digits of a phone number scribbled along the bottom, matching the handwriting of the words and signature on the first puck Nico gave you that night.
“Hey, ready to go? We’re starving. Luke wants waffles so we’re going to meet a few of the guys at a diner not far from the apartment, you want go?” Jack asks as the two approach you.
You don’t respond, too stuck on the fact that Nico gave you his phone number on the bottom of his hat trick pucks. You’re impressed at how smooth it was, but also freaking out and trying not to jump to conclusions. It’s just a phone number. It could mean nothing. Maybe he just wanted you to have it because you’re neighbors? Or because you’re so close with Jack and Luke. Maybe he wanted you to have it for emergencies.
“Hello, earth to Y/N. You good?” Luke snaps you out of your trance. You bring the pucks down to press the bottom against your leg, hiding the phone number from your roommates.
“What? Yeah. I’m fine. Great. Perfect.”
“Okay…” Jack trails off, giving you a suspicious look. “So, yes or no to the waffles?”
“Oh my god, yes. The answer to waffles is always yes,” you say excitedly.
“Okay then, let’s go. Some of the guys are already there. I’ll drive,” Jack laughs at you, walking towards the exit leading to where the players park.
“Shotgun!” Luke yells out, turning back to see your reaction to the competition that was so fierce when you were kids.
Your mind is once again on the pucks in your hands, and the player that gave them to you. You look at the numbers again, deciding the boys were far enough ahead for you to safely sneak a peek, wanting to make sure they were actually there and you weren’t seeing things. Your earlier conversation with Jack making its way back to the front of your mind, wondering if maybe Jack’s concern is relevant.
Luke just smiles and shakes his head, remembering watching his captain frantically ask around for a sharpie in the locker room, writing something on the exact set of pucks you now have in your hands before bolting from the room like a man on a mission.

Chilchuck angst
I love this lil middle age man but i aslo live for angst so her are few my ideas because I need tell someone and if you have angst dm me we can talk about it
He carries a wallet size family portrait (when his girls were little) with him when he goes down in a dungeon, and he looks at it when he miss them. ( I feel like photos are probably pretty 💰💰 so they only had few consist wedding photo, baby photo mayjack she's fist born, then one of the whole family ) and this photo is chaotic and It makes him smile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the ONLY photo he has of his entire family and he hasent seen them in few years with his kids grown living there own lives and him and his wife are split this photos all he's got.
How far would this man go for this picture. I can see chilchuck getting badly hurt because he went back to grab it and as Marcille is lecturing him about his reckless action as she's healing him.
Marcille: "What could have been so important that you risk your life over??"
Chilchuck: "my family or what's left of it"
He shows her the photo and marcille feels her heart drop she finally got to learn something about him and its sad ( this miscommunication leads to his group to believe chil family is dead )
Chilchuck taught Mayjack how to pick locks, and in the manga, he says when he dies, if they need someone, she'd be their first choice. SO he obviously took her through dungeon showing her how to navigate because being locksmith in a shop vs. dungeon is night & day different, dungeon being high pace environment.
Could you imagine how traumatizing that would be if saw her dad die in front of her AND NOT KNOW THEY COULD BE REVIVED!! (Seeing anyone die would be scaring) Especially if she felt it was her fault.
At first, Mayjack was curious about going into a dungeon with her dad to see exactly what he does she rember as kid seeing him come home late tired excused but mostly worn down.
Whenever she asked him about his work as a kid he was always vague or if he did talk about it was pg version and normally he was just trying scare us about going into dungeon. BUT one thing he made very clear, he didn't want any of her or her sister near the dungeon, but now that she's an adult, he couldn't stop her.
" I still don't want you near the dungeon, but you are a skilled locksmith, so you would be valued and well paid. IF you're still interested, I'll have you shadow me on my next small job so you can see what it's like."
At first, it was like any job we met with the client went over to the terms dad took payment, and then we headed over to the dungeon. I was awestruck by the new environment, but it quickly became overstimulating it took me a moment to adjust. the first few levels, dad had pointed out things to avoid what were scams & how to detect traps and walked me through a few I felt confident. Most importantly, when talking jobs, always have a skilled healer. Now I realize why as we enter new room dad was working on trap I was observing the room when I noticed treasure chest peaking out corner not knowing it was a mimick.
Chilchuck was Halfway through picking his lock when his dad sense went off. He quickly looked around room and spotted may messing with mimick
Chilchuck: "MAYJACK TIMS! get away from that!!" He starts running towards her
May turned to look at her dad, confused " why I already unlocked it?"
Her body stiffened as she could feel presents inside the chest, but before mimick could attach, chilchuck pushed her out of the way taking damage as it jabbed one of its claws through his neck causing him to bleed everywhere all mayjack could do was watch in horror paralyzed with fear trying process what happened. One of group members took care of mimick while she scrambled to her feet to get to here dad trying to put pressure on his wound tears flooding out
"Nonononno im sorry I'm sorry 🥺 "
As chilchuck lay there dying, he was more concerned with the fact he could comfort his daughter. This wasn't how he wanted to see death for the first time. Afterwards, the healer from their group came over and assured her he was going to be fine as she worked on reviving him.
Chilchuck let out a gasp and cough out some blood that had remained stuck in his throat. He turns to mayjack " that's why I told you to stay near me..." He moves toward her noticing her hands are strained with his blood. " are you hurt?... may? "
She shakes her head, and tears start to fall down her face he pulls her in for a hug. " it's ok, I'm ok ... I'm right here. " she hugs him tight, and they stay in that embrace for a while. When they finally break the hug, chilchuck wipes tears from her face.
" im sorry you saw that... do you want to go home.? "
" but the job?"
Chilchuck shakes his head " don't worry about it I brought someone along for that exact reason"

Spy?
(Inspired by the song “Spy?” by WHOKILLEDXIX)
Hero stood in a rough circle surrounded by the group of villains. Their voices were overlapping, all arguing over the fresh mission failure.
“It was Lookout’s job to make sure we weren’t followed,” one voice—Blueprint—argued.
“We weren’t! I’m positive,” Lookout defended.
“It was probably the panic alert from the front desk,” Hero accused, looking pointedly at Guardsman.
“I got that guard before he even got close to that button, there’s no way that’s how the cops knew we were there.”
Pulling out a phone, one accomplice walked to the edge of the room, pressing the device to his ear.
Hero engaged passionately with the quarreling criminals, trying desperately to salvage their mission and keep their cover intact. Hero was deep undercover as a security expert in a large heist led by Villain, and the takedown they had orchestrated had not quite gone according to plan. The hero did their best to stoke the flames of anger and disappointment between the crew. The more they were at each other’s throats, the less they were thinking rationally about what really went wrong.
“If everyone had just stuck to the plan-“
“It was YOU who-“
“Ok, let’s be logical about this-“
“And then you didn’t-“
“It’s a miracle we all got away-“
The man on the phone returned to the group, face made of stone. He raised a hand, and the bickering quieted.
“My inside guy says they were there within a minute of us going in.”
“So the cops were tipped,” Locksmith concluded.
“Alright, so who knew?” Lookout asked from the left.
“The driver,” Blueprint chimed in on Hero’s right.
“He didn’t know the location, and I only hired him today. We picked up the vehicles 30 minutes before and it never left my sight,” explained Mover, the one who had been delegated to arrange transportation.
“No one else was told, it was all in-house.”
Silence dawned in the room as realization hit the criminals one by one.
“The location was need-to-know. Villain didn’t even tell half of us,” Locksmith pointed out.
“Actually, I only told one of you,” he corrected nonchalantly.
Shit.
“So that means-“
“My, my,” He turned slowly with the words, locking eyes with Hero, “I think we have a spy.”
They were made.
Two seconds and they were out the door, heart and feet pounding as fast as they could. Hero burst into the stairwell and was faced with a split second decision: up? Or down?
The backup spot at which they had met up after the disaster was located in the heart of the city, and Hero hoped the mid-day masses would be enough to help them get away. First though, they had to make it out of this building.
Temporarily closed for some upper level renovations, the office was five stories high and packed closely with the surrounding businesses.
Passing the large painted number three in a flash, Hero headed for the top.
They didn’t risk a glance back, but they heard several people slam open the door behind them. A chorus of footsteps echoed through the stairwell. Hero climbed, breathing heavily and mind racing to trace an escape route. A painted number five marked the top of the stairwell and Hero turned away from the roof access. If they remembered correctly from their recon, the East side of the building should back right up to an apartment complex with an outdoor fire escape.
They threw the door open and were met with a bare-bones floor. The entire level was sectioned by plastic sheeting, making it difficult to locate the windows and any potential dangers. Hero’s feet danced over stray boards and around forgotten construction equipment. Shouts alerted them that their pursuers were not far behind, but their figure was already blurred behind several layers of sheeting.
Most of the yelling was unintelligible, but one voice rose about the rest.
“I hope you’re ready to learn what happens to little rats!”
Hero made the mistake of turning towards the voices, taking their eyes off the floor and the bucket that they were about to crash into. They tumbled to the floor with a yelp, taking a clear sheet of plastic with them. They flailed, scrambling to their feet and shaking their limbs frantically to unravel themselves. They caught a glimpse of a set of boots several feet away before they pushed off the floor and continued heading for the wall.
Pushing past a final divider, they saw unfiltered light spilling in through a missing piece of wall. They threw themselves through the gap, standing on the narrow window frame still intact on the exterior side of the building.
Just as they had remembered, a metal staircase laid just a few feet ahead.
They didn’t mean to hesitate, but stopping their momentum had apparently allowed a singular assailant enough time to catch up. A hand gripped the back of Hero’s shirt, preventing them from making the leap.
Damn they were fast.
Hero threw back an elbow, connecting with a set of ribs. The grip on their shirt loosened and they turned, their fist connecting to a jaw and then a cheekbone.
Speedy’s head snapped to the side and Hero was released. They pushed off the side of the building before they could fall, catching the railing with both hands and hauling themselves up and over it.
They landed on the fire escape with a clang. Hoping to throw off the group closing in, Hero scaled a level before ducking in a conveniently-open window into an apartment. Hero used the time it took them to cross the kitchen area towards the door to make an unwitting accomplice of the person that startled on the couch.
“Do the inside stairs have roof access?” They asked breathlessly.
The stunned resident simply nodded their head.
Hero barely waited for the response, already halfway across the hall by the time the person shouted after them.
They turned a corner and caught the shine of an elevator door sliding closed a few feet away.
“Hold it!” They called, and a man pushing a large trash can put a hand in the doorway, leaving Hero enough time to slip in just before it closed.
“In a hurry, today, aren’t we?”
Hero chuckled breathlessly.
“You have no idea.”
The man gestured towards the buttons on his side of the small elevator.
“Floor?”
“The lobby, please.”
Hero clasped their arms awkwardly in front of them, trying not to breathe too loudly as they watched the numbers tick down slowly on the electronic screen. When they finally reached the bottom, the elevator chimed and the doors slid open to a fairly-active lobby. The door to the staircase was still closed, and Hero breathed a silent sigh of relief.
“After you,” the service worker waved, and Hero voiced their thanks before crossing the carpeted floor and passing through the revolving door.
Out of immediate danger, they slowed to an even pace, sliding off their beanie and slipping off their jacket to tie around their waist. They tossed the hat as soon as they could without getting ticketed for littering and entered the second shop they saw after turning down a different road.
They needed to get off the street, and fast. By now, word would be out about their betrayal.
Unfortunately, things had gone so off script that Hero found themselves on the opposite side of the city than their usual safe houses. They couldn’t risk getting near any police stations, and since this wasn’t the typical residential side of town, staying on the street after another hour or so would be incredibly suspicious. Those who worked went home soon, and those who lived here locked their doors.
Weighing those thoughts, Hero’s best option seemed to be to cross the city while they still could.
One change of clothes later, and Hero was back on a crosswalk, moving with a crowd dressed in mostly business-causal attire. Two more rights and they spotted a station, and graciously they had enough cash left to cover the fare for a ride all the way to South side.
The covered bench at which they waited was warm, but they couldn’t get comfortable. Their head was whipping in every direction, trying to identify if they were being followed. Paranoia creeped in and their neck muscles began to protest the strain of repeated movements. By the time they could board the Greyhound, the other citizens were eyeing Hero wearily.
Unconcerned with how erratic they appeared, Hero hopped on the bus, settling into a window seat in the middle. They relaxed as it started to move, shifting their gaze to the window.
Buildings upon buildings passed by, all slowly emptying as the minutes crept closer to the end of the business day. Idle chatter filled the bus.
The more blocks that passed, the more optimistic Hero became.
More commuters entered on the next stop. Exhausted, Hero paid no mind to the blue collar workers filling up the seats around them.
Some people must have pushed past the ones trying to exit the bus, because an older man in front of Hero made a comment about everybody being in a rush nowadays. Several people mumbled their agreement as someone settled into the seat beside Hero, holding a newspaper that crinkled as they sat.
“Trying to outrun the stressors of life, I suppose,” a woman replied from across the aisle.
Something tapped Hero’s shoe, and they leaned down to grab a water bottle that had rolled from the seat in front of them.
“You know what my dad always said about that?” The man beside Hero asked, setting down his newspaper.
Hero raised their arm to tap on the shoulder of the bottle’s probable owner.
Behind them, another person shifted, then answered lightly, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”
If Hero was anyone else, they would not have recognized the danger in Villain’s tone.
Before they could react, cold metal pressed to the side of their neck. In the reflection of the window, Hero could make out a hand holding a knife behind them. They flicked their eyes to the side, finally catching the bruising coming up on their seatmate’s cheekbone and jaw. In front, Blueprint turned and grabbed the bottle from their outstretched hand.
They were surrounded.

We know what Tony and Della look like, but what about Jack, Frank and Balthazar?
I went ahead and drew before/after pictures for Tony/Hare, Frank/Skull, and Jack/… Jack, since their ghosts have evolved over the course of the robots' lives! Locksmith and Dee, on the other hand, are/were more attached to their previous selves and didn't change as much.
[ID: 8 digitally sketched busts of human characters.]
Tumblr media
[Bust 1: Labeled 'Jack Sapienti,' this bust is of an Italian-American teenager with a sharp nose, dark hair that falls a bit into his eyes and eczema scars on his face. His expression is sad and he looks forlornly off to the side.]
Tumblr media
[Bust 2: Labeled 'Current Ghost of The Jack,' this bust is similar to the other Jack, but he wears a large bow around his neck, his eyes are lighter, his hair is fairer and longer, and his scars are more concentrated on his cheeks.]
Tumblr media
[Bust 3: Labeled 'Frank Saddler,' this bust is of a Black man with heavy brows, high cheekbones, a curved bridge to his nose, a long scar above his left eye, and a smaller scar below the left eye. His expression is guardedly curious.]
Tumblr media
[Bust 4: Labeled 'Current Ghost of The Skull,' this bust is similar to Frank, but his expression is more curt and severe, his face is more guant and cheekbones more defined, and he has a large, wide scar across the front of his neck.]

Malt Choco Cookie has an uncanny ability to open anything with no exceptions. To the point where she cannot event tell if it's supposed to be locked in the first place. Basically neither physical nor magical locks exist for her.
It has gotten her into a lot of trouble in her youth at the Crème Republic when she would accidentally break in and trespass high security areas when getting lost...
So it was natural that when she moved into the Hollyberry Kingdom for her to open a locksmithing business. Every since she opened, she's gotten so many clients... which has been proven a bit more difficult for the quaint village she lives in as she's trying to lay low celestial damn it! She's trying to occupy her time, not be world famous!
She realized that she might do secondary long trips when one day dragon hunters waltzed into her shop with a big chest and a cursed lock strapped to it... Since then, she ventures once or twice a month to Dragon City to set a temporary stall for any unopenable treasures the hunters might find. It's a short trip to there anyway and a villager trader always goes with her as to not strain her prosthetic leg too much.
She sometimes gets obnoxious clients, and for them specifically, she puts on a show and stalls so that they begin to believe that they'll get 5x the refund. Only for her to smirk mischievously and open whatever item they need opened in one fell swoop. She greatly enjoys seeing their expressions souring and charges them double for being annoying.

I'm new to Unity but I'm having a hard time earning those sync points. Every time I do co-op missions I get my ass kicked.
Hello, nonny!
I hope you’re enjoying AC Unity :)
Just in case anyone is wondering: it is possible to finish the main story of AC Unity without those sync points.
And it is possible to bulk up Arno enough to take down any enemies too in open combat but I’m stealth-focused so these tips would be for a stealthier approach.
(This is easiest if you do this after finishing the main game tbh but I suppose it’s possible to do it earlier, just… gonna be hard)
So, first of all, focus on getting these skills:
Disguise ← this is the best skill for a stealth-heavy Arno
Master Locksmith (Master needs you to clear Sequence 9 though and, yeah, the earlier Locksmith skills would work too, some sync points are easier to access via unlocking locked doors)
Optional (if you have points left): the tools and upgrades in the ranged skill tree would give you more option
Second thing:
Here’s an IGN article with maps to where those Sync Points are for the Coop missions that have them.
General Tips while looking for sync points:
You still keep the sync points even if you have to restart the coop mission because you failed an objective so what you can do is get the sync points first before actually doing the objectives.
Disguises are the best way to walk around restricted areas without getting aggro’ed. As long as you have an NPC that is allowed to be there in your sight, you can use them as your disguise. NOTE: Disguise disappears if you jump or climb (and I think run? Don’t remember about the last one) and it has a time limit. Before time is up, go to a safe room or hide, wait for it to charge back up then pick your next disguise.
Phantom shots will be seen even if you are hiding in a crowd (especially if you aim first) but berserk shots are the best way to cause a distraction while thinning the enemy numbers.
Low profile assassinations end faster than high profile assassinations.
Once the sync point appears on your minimap, it will appear on the map menu and you can mark it if you’re having problems finding it.
Get the best equipment and weapons as soon as possible. Either wait to get paid like a capitalist trust fund baby OR do the “It Belongs In A Museum” trick XD
If you want to fuck everyone up but don’t want to finish the story and don’t mind getting spoiled (well, if you know how Élise ends up, that’s… the main spoiler XD), you can access the Dead King DLC without finishing the main game and travel to it using the carriage near the cafe. From there, just finish the prologue until you have access to the entire DLC area and finish Suger's Legacy sidequest to get the best weapon in the game, a one-handed sword that freaking blinds your enemies at random. XD (as far as I know, Dead King DLC is free as an “I’m sorry for the horrific glitches Unity had at launch” gift from Ubisoft) You can return to the main game by using the carriage.
Other than that…
Uuuhhh…
Here’s my equipment to give you an idea of a stealth-focused Arno:
Tumblr media
Haha, I’m kidding. I just use the Altaïr outfit because his real outfit is… BEHOLD!
Tumblr media
This man should not be able to hide in a crowd XD
Anyway…
I mostly min-max’ed him to be pure stealth BUT the Suger Sword saves me whenever I screw up XD
Tumblr media
I focus on lengthening the duration and range of Eagle Vision as someone thought it would be a good idea to give it a cool down (ʘдʘ╬). Eagle Vision would let you keep track of the possible enemies you can use as Disguise and generally just let you plan ahead.
Tumblr media
Mostly for the Disguise radius and duration but the detection rate is also a plus if the Disguise is at cooldown.
Tumblr media
I just went with what would give Arno more stealth XD
Tumblr media
This gives additional berserk blades which is nice.
Tumblr media
The most important one is the lockpicks because I suck at timing in the lockpicking minigame. More tools (especially smoke bombs and medicines) are always nice.
I hope this helps and, I guess, my final suggestion would be… I think some people are still playing AC Unity so you can probably find a coop player if you’re really having problems with it and don't mind playing online. I know I managed to get, like, one or two strangers in coop 2 years ago XD

Rank and class as a guild member and adventurer is decided by academics and athletics (from magical community college, magical four year university, magical Ivy League University, & magical military academy), merit, relationship with commoners, services to guild, positive reputation with guild patrons (guild clients who hire guild contractors), connection to nobles and rich aristocracy, recommendation from military or knight order, military strength, good likability with civilians, monster hunting trophies, kinship with guild and guild members, experience, association with guild council and guild officers,

Adventurers who bring in high level class monsters, animals, and beasts for materials need to kill enemies the right way to properly dissect materials and not damage them. This lets them use them for crafting weapons, shields, clothes, armor etc with materials.
These are factors for the initial guild test to decide your rank and the annual tests and retakes to decide the merit of guild promotion. Some of these aren't for low ranked tests of F, D, E Class and mid rank of C Class but high ranked tests if you want to be B Class, A Class, or S rank.

The Planeswalker (Whether he/she/they believes this a curse or blessing depends upon him/her/them. However this being’s manifestation and aura also changed his/his/their way of contact with magic. Making it flow differently through him/her/them then others of magical power. He/she/they was selected by a powerful being to be their champion in this world. She transmitted her raw power into him/her/them to be used as he/she/they sees fit.
He/she/they was chosen by an eldritch being. The embodiment of his/her/their powers may mirror the being that he/she/they was chosen by. However the fundamentals of enhancement are the same. He/she/they has immense significant reservoirs of raw magical energy whose source is unknown to him/her/them. His/her/their natural power comes from the totality of the planes. The planes call out and rouse those they chose to travel the universe, multiverse, & omniverse.
Once awakened a planeswalker has a flair for information about creatures, beasts, & monsters that are not from the physical plane. Some of the finest planeswalkers use this to travel the planets, star systems, & galaxies and install themselves as monarchs. Others seek to become heroes to help defend those who cannot defend themselves as their champion. Some planeswalkers may construct a pocket dimension of their own in a demiplane they create and  mold its components and strengths that they find the most sufficient. Some planeswalkers establish themselves on a specific plane and align themselves with it, calling it home. Their form, mentality, & powers take on the form of the plane they spend much of their time on).

Dumb thought brought on by the locksmith video you reblogged:
What if early on in Robin and Dusk's rivalry when they were breaking into a place for something they had to lockpick a door/cabinet and Dusk is trying to be sneaky and really careful while Robin just does the equivalent of that video in front of him. Robin even adds the commentary to it.
Would Dusk bluescreen from how stupid yet easy it was?
This could also work for Robin and Dawn when trying to gather information from a place during an interrogation or something.
These ramblings have been brought to you by a very tired person.
The video in question (read the post for commentary hgfdj)
I honestly want to say it's canon - Robin is a damn good lockpick, and also confident enough to pull this off. (So no one squint at them picking the lock of the boys door in First Aid - it took them a hot second because they're shaky, but it's still faster than grabbing the spare keys from their home first)
So early rivalry Dusk and Robin still kind of feel each other out, and Dusk isn't quite convinced yet this can be fun - he's open for it for sure, but Robin at the start is just really... hostile, almost. They're snarky, and that has potential for fun banter, but they shoot down his first attempts of it mercilessly and he's honestly not about that life.
But when there's a lock that he's just kinda struggling with because, well, despite everything he is the rookie and still inexperienced, and they push him to the side and start ragging on that poor lock? take out their tools and just stab it and it opens and they just deadpan go "There we go. At this point they're asking to be robbed, I've seen bikes secured better than this door" (while completely disregarding the fact that they're on top of a high ass building, with the height being its own deterrent??)?
Dusk stands there for a second, and then just absolutely loses it. Doubles over even, static wheezes the only sound escaping his voicebox, and Robin... Robin turns to him, not startled or anything, no no, but... Surprised, maybe. They didn't... They didn't think it was that funny? They didn't expect him to laugh - if anything, didn't they kind of insult his skills, too? But he's just, he's just laughing and totally genuinely (as far as they can tell), and it... It feels nice, to have someone laugh at your jokes. Genuinely, too, not because they feel like they have to because you're the senior agent or anything.
So maybe... Maybe they start doing it more often. They add that little commentary, focusing on "common enemies" and directing a lot of their snarky remarks at their targets rather than him (still some at him, though), and it works. He laughs, and then he joins in and makes his own comments, and then they're laughing, too! The first time he gets them by surprise they just snort and then slap a hand over their mask, and it's another moment where Dusk realizes that hey, whatever issues this agent has with him, maybe they aren't personal - maybe they just don't know how to be with people (lmao) (clocked as socially awkward by the newbie and he's right <3).
This would be after they defended him already, so he already knows they aren't a bad person or misjudging him, though they're still kind of prickly and need warming up still, but Dusk can extend some patience knowing they at least don't think he's not earning his rank!

Housano's Live-A-Half Assed Summaries Presents: Welcome to the Black Masquerade Part 1: The setup to the set up
CW: Spoilers
So let's jump right into what stunts shows and shenanigans MC finds himself/herself/themself into
Tumblr media
We start the frame story of this event being framed for a robbery and being interrogated about stealing an extremely important treasure, but we know better than to speak to cops without a lawyer present
Tumblr media
And sure enough our lawyer, Astosis, to make sure due process is followed unless they want his fists processed into their face. He asks our MC to recap all the events that led up to current point
Tumblr media
We start our event returning from a success mission sale. While MC, Akashi, Mokdai, Sui and Meride talking about their work and plans before Huckle comes in depressed, and for once it doesn't involve the Ryekie breaking the broken monitor quota. Rather he asks both Meride and us about a certain request. The requestor is also a Hero at the local level and is requesting an Operator for security assistance. This would be a relatively normal request, but where the issue comes from is the planet is 1) An on site request that can only be fulfilled by Operators like our MC and Meride 2) extremely far way 3) the planet itself has only recently opened up to interstellar communication and access is still highly restricted. This is extremely high risk in Huckle's eyes, but all other agencies rejected their offer and they came back to us and Huckle wanted to gauge our interest. I mean, we dealt whatever the hell Exio was doing last Main Chapter, and nothing could be worse than that (for now), so we accepted the offer. Consider the length of time required for the mission, only our MC could accept it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akashi wants to come because this means the hot springs trip was cancelled (sorry Akashi) but Huckle counters and mentions this will take place over several weekday and asks him how this would affect his university studies. This in turn summons the spirit of a tsundere whom Akashi realized it would be best for him to stay. We learn we will be going to the Sunflower Galaxy to a town called Cloges which IMMEDIATELY catches the attention of Maculata. Cloges designs are highly intricate and unique given how isolated the town and planet is and as a fashion mogul, she must be on the trip, so she coerces convinces Huckle to let her be the Hero for this trip (pity she couldn't use that influence to get an alt for this event). With that said, Maculata cancels her vacations and tells Sui she'll bring back data as a souvenir.
Tumblr media
So we get a bit of backstory on Cloge. The translation may be off, but according to Maculata, the star of Cloge is more like a moon and once a year, the planet is able to see it and each year it goes through the waxing and waning phases and they celebrate each in a festival they call Luna. The emaculate dresses that she was referencing early are called Pauderna and will be displayed at the Masquerade ball we will be providing security for. The other reason she was hellbent is this event is not open to the public so this gives her full access to look at all the details of the dress since we are part of security.
Tumblr media
We are greeted at the airport terminal by the Perfect Man Does Exist, Astosis, who was the person who requested our assistance and thanks us for coming. He gives Maculata a hug and then gives us a big hug as well. I like this guy! There are also two guards with him from a vigilante organization on Cloges called Chassard which functions as sort of a Hero organization. They are standoffish and my sussy senses are tingling.
Tumblr media
We are then greeted by the other member of our crew for this event, Yohack, who also more than happy to give us a hug. His organization is called Wanwan Locksmith and I just wanted to point how fucking adorable that is.
Tumblr media
Astosis is surprised to see Yohack, who wanted to know why he was here. Yohack explains that the Laborer who was supposed to take this job got injured and-
Me:OMG PUBRA CHAN I'M COMING BABY!
...wait, it's not Pubra? It's Hisaki who was injured?
Tumblr media
*ahem* Random nonrelevant, noncanon tangents aside, Wassard accepted Yohack's replacement without alerting Astosis. However, Astosis and Yohack are both childhood friends, so we're all good. With all the introductions out of the way, we end this chapter with Astosis requesting we hang onto the Pauderna directly.
Welcome to the Black Masquerade Part 1- My name is MC and I like warm hugs-END

Ok I wanna let this out before I completely forget about it. Not to throw shade or anything but just... Me wanting to let out.
So. Yesterday I was loitering in some places as I waited for the locksmith to complete duplicating the keys to our office. I saw a tarot reading shop and I went to see, hitting off with the employees as usual, and saw that there's a free reading and tried it out.
I shared the fact that I'm diagnosed with depression and the reader asked about the reason, how long have I been on medication, etc. She also mentioned that she somehow attract more people/clients with depression and they immediately got better after interacting with her.
I started getting skeptical here.
Then we went on to the reading. According to her, the free reading is a yes/no reading, where the querent draws one Major Arcana card and one Minor Arcana card. Cool. I asked her if I don't wanna ask a question, but just wanna draw a card and to see what messages it has for me. She said sure, why not. So yeah, that's what we did.
Cards: The Hierophant rx, Two of Wands
She told me that I've been trying to break the unhealthy cycle and that it's difficult. It's difficult but it's doable. And it's been affecting me for a long time. And it's best that I do not stay indoors alone, but to go outside and be with people.
This is where I start to feel... Hmm... idk how to explain how I felt. But yeah, it's not what I'm expecting. Cuz what I expected was her to point out the cards and what they meant, what are the messages I need to hear and all.
What she said was something that can be easily inferred from conversation and observation.
I mean, if you know that I came to this city alone and has no transport, there's a high chance that I'm someone who stays indoor most of the time.
If you know that I'm someone with depression, you'll know that it's best to keep me surrounded by people so that the depressing thoughts can be distracted away.
So yeah. That's it. I don't have much to say or comment, but that reading style isn't my type. I would say that's more on people reading and observation, not the tarot I know of. Don't think I'll be purchasing a reading there OvO

Decoding the Magic Behind Google Ads: A Deep Dive into How It All Works
Hey there, fellow digital adventurers it's your digital marketing agency in dwarka, vrankup! 🚀 Ready to plunge into the mesmerizing world of Google Ads? Buckle up because we're about to unravel the enigmatic workings of this online advertising marvel. From the nitty-gritty of keyword research to the adrenaline-pumping ad auctions, we're here to demystify it all in a way that even your grandma would nod along to!
The Google Ads Odyssey Begins
So, you've got a business, a grand vision, and a website that's just begging for attention. Welcome to the bustling arena of online advertising, where Google Ads reigns supreme. Formerly known as Google AdWords, it's like a grand bazaar where advertisers bid on keywords, and when folks type those magic words into Google's search box, voila! Ads pop up on the search results page, waving like digital hawkers.
Keyword Quest: The Golden Key to Success
Imagine you're a locksmith, and the keywords are your tools. But wait, what's a keyword? Well, it's the word or phrase someone types into the search bar when they're on the hunt for something. Your task? Figuring out which keywords are popular among the masses and, most importantly, relevant to what you're offering. Google's Keyword Planner tool is like your treasure map, showing you search volume, competition, and even bid estimates for these keywords.
Ad Auctions: The Battle for Digital Limelight
Alright, imagine you're in a gladiator arena, and your weapon is a bid amount. Advertisers gather here, each armed with a bid, ready to fight for that precious spot in the search results. When a search happens, an auction is triggered, and Google's algorithms decide who gets to wield the spotlight. It's not just about who's got the fattest wallet – oh no! Quality matters, too. Ad Rank is the magic formula here. It's like the arena judge, taking your bid, ad quality, ad extensions, and a dash of expected impact, then whipping up a score.
Ad Placement: Rise and Shine, Ad Warriors!
Ad Rank sorted? Great! The battle's won… almost. Your Ad Rank determines where your ad shows up in the search results. The top dog gets that sweet spot at the summit, while others follow suit in descending order. But remember, it's not just about the bid; ad quality plays the Robin to your Batman here. An ad that's both high-quality and relevant can snag a prime position without having to break the bank. |digital marketing agency in dwarka|
Coins for Clicks: The PPC Dance
Here's where the coins start clinking – pay-per-click (PPC) style. You're only charged when someone clicks your ad. It's like paying a toll when someone crosses the bridge to your digital realm. But how much do you pay? The actual cost per click (CPC) isn't just your bid; it's a dance involving your Ad Rank and Quality Score. If your ad's the party that everyone wants to join, you might even pay less per click than what your bid suggests.
Quality Score and the Relevance Revolution
Speaking of that party-worthy ad, let's talk Quality Score. Imagine you're hosting a party, and Google's the discerning guest. It wants to know if your ad resonates with what people are looking for. Are your keywords relevant, your ad copy intriguing, and your expected click-through rate (CTR) promising? If you ace these, Google throws confetti (in the form of a higher Quality Score) your way. A high score means you could pay less for a higher rank – it's like getting a VIP ticket without the VIP price tag.
Ad Formats and Extensions: Dressing Up for Success
Now, let's sprinkle some stardust on your ads. Google Ads isn't just about boring old text; it's a whole costume party! You've got sitelink extensions, where you can sneak in extra links to specific pages. Callout extensions let you brag about your unique selling points, like showing off that sparkly new tiara. And don't forget the call extensions, which let people ring you up directly from the ad – it's like having a hotline to your business. Structured snippets? They're your cue cards, showing off specific categories of what you're offering. Oh, and location extensions? They're like handing out maps to your hidden treasure.
Wrap-Up: From Navigating to Nailing It
So, there you have it, brave souls – the epic tale of how Google Ads, the modern marketing marvel, plays its symphony of clicks and conversions. From deciphering the cryptic keywords to mastering the art of ad auctions, you're now armed with insights that can turn you from a mere traveler into a triumphant trailblazer in the digital realm.
As you set forth on your Google Ads journey, remember this: it's not just about throwing money around. It's a dance of strategy, relevance, and quality. Craft ads that resonate, bid wisely, and watch your online presence shine like a thousand suns. So, whether you're a savvy marketer, a curious entrepreneur, or just someone who's always wondered about those mysterious ads on Google, go forth and conquer the digital frontier with Google Ads as your loyal steed! 🌟🎉🚀
Catch you later,

Recently I got back into playing Fallout 4 again. Also started watching Harley Quinn, and it got me thinking about how hard it would be to make a Harley Quinn build.
Did a quick search to see if anyone had already done this, and sure enough someone has, but I noticed they gave HQ a 6 in her Intelegence. Don't get me wrong, I get that she is canonically a brilliant person. She graduated valedictorian and was trained in the field of psychoanalysis.
My problem with her being given a 6 in her Intelligence stat, is that the perks you get are more about building Science! gizmos and that just isn't HQ. She's smart but likes to just bash and blow things up. So here is my attempt at making HQ in Fallout 4.
First, her stats will start off as S:4, P:4, E:3, C:1, I:2, A:9, and L:5.
Early on you have access to the baby book that gives you one more stat point, that we'll put in Charisma to bring that up to 2. Likewise, the Perception bobblehead is early enough that we can go ahead and count that as being at 5 instead of 4.
You'll note that Intelegence is only at 2, and the only reason it's that high is that she does have medical training, so we can put perk points into Medic. Nothing else though from that perk line though makes sense for our HQ so no need to have it higher.
But because she is a smart character canonically, we give her the 5 in luck so we can give her Idiot Savant. That skill is specifically described as "You're not stupid! Just... different." and the way she is different is she's fricking bonkers.
Another benefit of having that 5-luck is we get access to Bloody Mess, and you can sure bet however HQ goes about murdering someone she is going to create a bit of a mess.
The 9 in Agility should be obvious as she is an acrobat. We'll want to pick up both Blitz, Moving Target, Action Girl, Sneak, and Ninja from this line. Though keep in mind she is a more in-your-face sort of villain so sneak and ninja are lower priorities.
Endurance is at three because she is chronically immune to toxins and can take a bit of a beating in a fight. So we want things like Toughness, Lead Belly, and Life-Giver. Rad resistance would have been nice but is too far down the Endurance to get early for this build.
Perception is where it's at to give us access to both the Locksmith and the Demolition Expert perks. I see HQ as more the sort to just kick open a door instead of picking the lock, but as the game doesn't give us that option, she needed ways of opening doors that would otherwise get in her way. Likewise, she would not likely spend much time picking the lock of a trunk, and would just smash it open... but again the game doesn't give us that option.
Her Strength of 4 is because her primary weapon of choice is a big old hammer or baseball bat and we want access to both Big Leagues and Blacksmith.
Lastly, that brings us to why we want Charisma to be at two, and that's to give us access to the Black Widow perk. Watch the cartoon, I think you'll agree that she hits men a bit harder with her baseball bat. I'm not even sure I've seen her hit a woman yet with her bat... no wait I can think of one. But only one off the top of my head (mind you I've only just finished watching the first season).
A long-term goal for this character would be to build up her Charisma after getting her core perks so she can access the Intimidate perk. In the cartoon it's actually a plot point early on that people don't really fear her but more fear her association with the Joker. It's only after some time doing her own thing that she builds up her own reputation.
Finally, for equipment, she would go for some sort of blunt melee weapon like a hammer or baseball bat (and with her strength could modify them to be nice and dangerous).
However, in terms of clothes/armor sadly FO4 doesn't give us much in the way of anything that suits a HQ character that well. She wouldn't even likely wear leather armor instead going for some sort of provocative outfit. The only real options that jump out are a Vault Suit or a Baseball uniform.
As for what faction she's going to join? Obviously, she's going to take over Nuka World while siding with the Disciples, but for the main game, she might want to side with the Institute as that is a bit like the Legion of Doom. She would also do the Vault 88 quest line and totally enjoy doing the experiments (perhaps even setting up her own secret base in those caves).

My Winter 2023 anime reviews! I was waiting to write these until UniteUp! finished its run, which it now has, so...here we go!
Discussed below the cut: UniteUp!, Nijiyon Animation, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, Handyman Saitou in Another World, Buddy Daddies, Soaring Sky Pretty Cure
This past season, I actually watched a lot of shows that were primarily about men or boys! That's kind of unusual for me, but I had a good time. I even tried watching an isekai. More on that later.
I'll start with UniteUp! actually. This is my sleeper hit of the season. It was plagued by covid related production delays - which actually led to them putting out some interesting "behind the scenes" episodes to fill the air time that had already been set aside for the show. It's an idol show, but it's different because I feel like they are a bit more realistic about the Idol Business compared to, say, Love Live (which I am also a fan of, I'm not hating). The characters are all really charming, even if sometimes I forgot all of their names lol ensemble cast problems, and the music is really good (especially the Crossfire theme song). The concerts and dancing are animated really well - they're of course using CGI there, but that makes it look really realistic and accurate. I haven't heard much chatter about this show, although Cy from Anime Feminist was effusive in their praise of it, and I just want more people to watch UniteUp!
Since I just mentioned Love Live, I also watched Nijiyon Animation. Cute, super-short length episodes based on 4koma comics. lt was like a fun little dessert every week lol. Nijigasaki is my favorite Love Live, so of course I loved it. It was also a nice farewell to Tomori Kusunoki as Setsuna.
The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague was a big ole nothingburger. Pretty much no character development actually happens and we're never really sure if the titular characters are even dating in the end. Basically the only thing that happens is the passage of a year. Anime Feminist also pointed out the weirdness of the "if Himuro gets a fever, he turns into a little boy" thing, especially that scene where he is in little boy form and then accidentally pins Fuyutsuki to the bed in her hotel room and they have that blushing "ooh, oh no~" reaction that would be just...much less weird...if the guy wasn't literally in a child's body at that moment. At least there was a lot of cat content in this show, but near the end of its run I was just like "ugh, I'm frustrated with the lack of progression here but I feel like I need to see it through to the end."
Another show that had some pacing issues was Handyman Saitou in Another World, the one isekai I watched! It did have a cool premise and I like how Saitou can apply his practical 21st century knowledge of locksmithing and such to the generic medieval high fantasy style premise place. I liked Raelza too (she's played by Ai Fairouz, who is fabulous in every role I've heard her in) and there were some interesting elements. I just feel like we spent too long on the side story with the ninja and the witch. This guy loves this woman so much even though their "meet cute" wasn't so much cute as kinda creepy?! He steps on her shadow so she can't move and then kisses her? Yikes! Their story takes multiple episodes to resolve and I'm just like can we get back to the main quartet PLEASE? I did like the other adventuring parties we meet, especially the big buff dude who has a crush on Saitou. Now, the fact that death can potentially be reversed in this world did lead to some of the "oh no! This character died" story beats feeling hollow since they were always followed by "well hold on, we'll just do a revival spell" or whatever. And there is some fanservice that might as well have come with a big ole "You're not the target audience here, Emma" sign on it. Overall, I am not sorry I watched it, and I think it's a cut above the dime-a-dozen isekais that are pumped out every season, but it had its issues.
I loved Buddy Daddies. It's so much more than just "modern Spy x Family"! Kazuki and Rei are both relatable in very different ways, Miri is probably a more realistic depiction of a child her age compared to Anya (I am not a parent though), it was always fun to play "Which car is this person driving" (Ogino's Chrysler 300 is definitely an odd choice still lol) and I feel like it had a nice ending. It didn't treat its adult women characters super well - when Anime Feminist described Yuzuko as getting fridged, I was like yeah...you're right. And then Misaki was really trying to do better and atone for her mistakes, but she gets hit with the double whammy of cancer and her sudden murder. Damn. At least Miss Anna got out okay. I like to wonder what happens when Rei's dad kicks the bucket. Does he then immediately inherit the organization and the giant estate? He obviously has no interest in it, so what would he do with it all? Probably just burn down the estate and disband the organization, right?
And finally, it's the Pretty Cure series that finally did it, that finally got me Precurepilled...it's Soaring Sky Pretty Cure! I tried watching Delicious Party episode 1 last year, but between the art style and the "weird magical desert place that the battle happens in," I just couldn't vibe with it. But phew, Soaring Sky is SO good. I love the art, I love the characters, it's all just so much fun and enjoyable. I like to try to watch it first thing on Sunday mornings. It's obviously still running right now and we haven't even been introduced to Cure Butterfly yet, let alone the midseason Cure (an aged-up Ellee maybe?), which means there is a lot still to do. Also I have a theory that Yoyo is the mysterious hero who inspired Sora back in the day. Like she used to be a Cure herself, perhaps. That would be fun.
Other than Skip and Loafer and the second part of G-Witch, spring is looking pretty sparse for me, so...all the more reason to keep watching older Pretty Cure seasons, right? I'm working on Kira Kira and want to watch Star Twinkle after that!

Story. The Problem

[ID: 10 digitally sketched panels in b/w]

[Panel 1: Hare's running silhouette centered in frame, smoke trailing him. He thinks, "What the hell is wrong with me? Things have been rocky, yeah-- but, flipping out on Szarka? Running out on Dee when she needed me?"]
Tumblr media
[Panel 2: Hare throws open the gates to the Becile Estate. The gates are high with arrow points lining the top; the walls on either side are equally high and spiked. Hare continues, "That's not the guy I wanna be. That's not the guy I (italics) am, right?"]
Tumblr media
[Panel 3: Hare, as a small stick figure-like silhouette, walks the pathway to the front of Becile Manor, which stretches widely across the background. Hare continues, "(ellipses) Except, I did do those things. And worse, too. Maybe (ellipses)"]

[Panel 6: Hare shakes his head, rejecting the depressing thoughts as he thinks, "No time for that! I gotta save Dee!"]
Tumblr media
[Panel 7: An empty doorway inside the Manor. Hare's voice calls from off panel, down the hall, "Dee?? Dee?! Where is everybody??"]
Tumblr media
[Panel 8: Same shot. Hare is stepping through the doorway, looking concerned and saying, "Cartwheeling Christ, there you are--"]
Tumblr media
[Panel 9: Close up of Hare, grimacing and squinting in disbelief. He says flatly, "What."]
Tumblr media
[Panel 10: Tall panel. At the top, Scratch says, "Oh, good timing!" Then below, "You can translate for Dee." The art below the dialogue shows Scratch sitting at the head of the table opposite Hare (the viewer) behind a dungeon master's screen, making the ASL sign for 'you.' Locksmith and The Skull sit on the left hand side of the table, eyeing Hare skeptically. On the right hand side sits The Jack, smiling, Riker, looking up in mild suprise and smoking a cigarette, and finally Dee, hands folded and mouth flat. Everyone besides Scratch has sheets of paper, pencils, and dice. End ID]
