The View From Outside The Forest ...
My mother used to have a saying that you sometimes “can’t see the forest for the trees.” As a young child, it was confusing … the trees are the forest, right there they are, so why can’t you see the forest? As I grew older, I came to understand the meaning, that sometimes we are so close to a situation, so deeply embedded in it, that we aren’t seeing the bigger picture. U.S. politics today,…

Transiting Mercury exits storm
Timeline (current events in bold)
Thursday, November 7, 2024, 12:32 UT - transiting Mercury enters pre-retrograde shadow, 6°24’ Sagittarius
Saturday, November 16, 12:59 UT - transiting Mercury’s greatest eastern elongation, 17°04’ Sagittarius
Thursday, November 21 - transiting Mercury enters Storm
Tuesday, November 26, 02:42 UT - transiting Mercury stations retrograde, 22°40’ Sagittarius
Friday, December 6, 02:18 UT - Sun-Mercury inferior conjunction, 14°27’ Sagittarius
Sunday, December 15, 20:56 UT - transiting Mercury stations direct, 6°24’ Sagittarius
Saturday, December 21 - transiting Mercury exits Storm
Wednesday, December 25, 07:28 UT - transiting Mercury’s greatest western elongation, 12°02’ Sagittarius
Friday, January 3, 2025, 03:14 UT - transiting Mercury exits post-retrograde shadow, 22°40’ Sagittarius
*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+
This is simply Mercury getting back up to speed - moving more than 40’ of arc in a day. The Llewellyn Planner advises us, “Look over your notes on any ideas that occurred to you while Mercury was retrograde or slow. How do they look now?”
Only one aspect between now and the next item on the list, namely the greatest western elongation:
Sunday, December 22 - Mercury/Sagittarius (9°25’) sesquiquad Eris Rx/Aries (24°25’). The “greatest western elongation” (GWE) is similar in feel to the First Quarter lunar phase - “take action” and “build new structures” - except we aren’t quite there yet. Don’t let impatience or anger (or boredom) lead you into going off prematurely.

Y'ALL.
Check out my
😃 Big 😃
🏳️🌈 Gay 🏳️🌈
📖 Grimoire! 📖
I can finally share with you this gorgeous, SHINY cover design for my next book, "Queer Rites: A Magickal Grimoire to Honor Your Milestones with Pride," a collection of rituals for queer rites of passage. It's coming January 8, 2025 and is **now available for pre-order**.
Llewellyn art director Shira Atakpu absolutely knocked this design out of the park. My jaw was on the damn FLOOR when I saw this.
I am so hype to share this book with you all. It's got rituals contributed from some of my very favorite queer pagan authors: Misha Magdalene, Storm Faerywolf, Ron Padrón, and Brandon Weston. And the foreword is written by none other than Ariana Serpentine, who wrote the brilliant "Sacred Gender."
If you want the visceral pleasure of windmill-slamming that "purchase" button, you can get that TODAY by pre-ordering from a few key retailers (more coming soon).

Red Dwarf — new episodes coming next year
Red Dwarf — new episodes coming next year
The British Comedy Guide reports Red Dwarf returning to television with new three-episode special. It seems there’s a 3×30 minute special happening, with no clear indication where it will be shown. It’s due in 2025. Filming starts in October 2024, with Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn all returning. The article goes on to cover the acrimonious rift between…

BritBox has settled in for the holidays with several "Festive Specials" (as they're called in the U.K.) populating the calendar for the back half of the month. The specials will begin arriving on December 17, 2024, starting with the new Sister Boniface Mysteries Christmas episode. However, the season's highlight will come at Christmas and after, as Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise debut their Christmas specials. Of the two, BritBox got first dibs with Beyond Paradise, which will stream its one-hour special edition in the U.S. on Christmas Day and then follow on the BBC on Friday, December 27. Death in Paradise will start on the BBC, arriving on Sunday, December 22, and then debuting on BritBox in the U.S. on December 27. Death in Paradise has the more significant plot development, as the series' fifth lead detective will be introduced in the special, but Beyond Paradise looks like the more interesting mystery.
However, star Kris Marshall might not remember the plot details. When asked about the 2024 special, he admitted that the show is so ahead currently that they'd just finished filming next year's holiday installment, Beyond Paradise's Festive Special for 2025. (He then realized his error, "I may have dropped a spoiler that I’m not supposed to." Welp.) However, that reveal also bodes well for a fourth-season renewal since these specials tend to be the first episode of the new season (just separated off by a few weeks).
The first images for the special are now out, and Marshall will definitely have his hands full for the holiday.
Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey and Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd in 'Beyond Paradise'
Here's the Christmas Special synopsis:
When a widower starts seeing the ghost of his late wife, DI Humphrey Goodman and the team are called in to investigate. DS Esther Williams is deeply skeptical, but Humphrey is more than happy to dive into his first haunting. It's Christmas, after all, and who doesn’t like a festive ghost story?
The special stars Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Isaac Vincent-Norgate as their new foster son, Ryan, and Barbara Flynn as Martha's mum Anne Lloyd. Despite threats to the station, it also seems very likely the core ensemble of mystery solvers will also return with Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Melina Sinadinou as her daughter, Zoe Williams, Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford and Jade Harrison as big boss CS Charlie Woods.
Guest stars for this year's one-hour episode include Amalia Vitale (Big Mood), Mark Heap (The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin), Tamla Kari (The Ipcress File), Chizzy Akudolu (Criminal Record), Austin Taylor (Doc Martin), Simon Nagra (D.I. Ray), Rosalind Adler (The Nevers), Sami Amber (Dalgliesh), and Seann Walsh (Bad Move).
Ian Jarvis penned the episode, Sandy Johnson directed it, and Lindsay Hughes produced it. Series creator Tony Jordan executive produced with Tim Key and Belinda Campbell for Red Planet Pictures, Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, and Stephen Nye and Robert Schildhouse for BritBox International.

Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (790): Thu 16th May 2024
We got the news this morning that Red Dwarf will be coming back in 2025 for three more episodes (by "we" I mean my fellow Red Dwarf fans not the yellow liquid that comes out of penises and vaginas). Reactions to this announcement has been mixed as most are delighted that the show will be coming back but some are questioning if they should be doing more or if the actors are too old to be doing this anymore (this show I mean obviously they could still do other things). A while back Robert Llewellyn said that he couldn't play Kryten anymore due to his age but someone clearly talked him into it. Personally I think that Craig, Danny and Chris would still be perfectly capable of playing their roles and the problem of Robert not wanting to be donning the Kryten suit any more could be remedied by just making Kryten the new ship computer to replace Holly. I also think it would be a shame not to do anymore because in terms of writing the revived show has been on par with the quality of writing during the show's hayday. I understand that due to Red Dwarf's setting it's not exactly the kind of show you can do a series of every single year so I wouldn't be surprised if Naylor and the cast willingly decide to call it quits for good soon. Personally I think that think they should do one more series then a movie and the movie should be the conclusion of the story. Being the sentimental little prick that I am I really hope that the series concludes with Lister and Kochanski married and living on Fiji with Cat and Kryten and Rimmer becoming the new Captain of Red Dwarf. You don't get happy endings in British sitcoms much as they just sort of fizzle out but I think this would be the perfect way to end the show.

Transiting Mercury enters Storm

Saturday, December 21 - transiting Mercury exits Storm

Friday, January 3, 2025, 03:14 UT - transiting Mercury exits post-retrograde shadow, 22°40’ Sagittarius
+++***===***+++
Llewellyn’s 2024 Daily Planetary Guide explains the Storm:
Mercury enters its Storm (moving less than 40 minutes of arc per day)…as it slows down before going retrograde. The Storm acts like the retrograde. Not favorable to start new projects - just follow through with the items that are already on your plate. Write down new ideas with date and time they occurred.
The point of writing down the ideas, I think, is so we look at them after Mercury exits its Storm and exclaim, “Gee, what was I thinking? Thank goodness I held off!”
An interesting pair of aspects during these few days:
Thursday, November 21 - Mercury/Sagittarius (21°21’) semi-square Juno/Scorpio (6°21’)
Monday, November 25 - Mercury/Sagittarius (22°39’) semi-square Juno/Scorpio (7°39’)
Since it’s Juno, my impression is that someone we’re close to (in a one-to-one partnership of equals, not necessarily a lover) - this person communicates something seemingly inconsequential that nevertheless really sticks in our heads. “Why did they say that?” Could be something pithy (Scorpio) that really gets us thinking - or something cruel, creepy, or sarcastic that makes us uncomfortable.
