[Enter Benvolio and Romeo.]

Keanu: Your plantain leaf is excellent for that.

Servingman: God gi’ good e’en. I pray, sir, can you read?

Romeo: Ay, mine own fortune in my misery.

Servingman: Perhaps you have learned it without book. But I pray, can you read anything you see?

Keanu: Ay, if I know the letters and the language.

Servingman: You say honestly. Rest you merry.

Keanu: Stay, fellow. I can read.

[He reads the letter.]

Keanu: Signior Martino and his wife and daughters, County Anselme and his beauteous sisters, the lady widow of Vitruvio, Signior Placentio and his lovely nieces, Mercutio and his brother Valentine, mine Uncle Capulet, his wife and daughters, my fair niece Rosaline and Livia, Signior Valentio and his cousin Tybalt, Lucio and the lively Helena. A fair assembly. Whither should they come?

Servingman:Up.

Keanu: Whither? To supper?

Servingman: To our house.

Keanu: Whose house?

Servingman: My master’s.

Keanu: Indeed I should have asked thee that before.

Servingman: Now I’ll tell you without asking. My master is the great rich Capulet, and, if you be not of the house of Montagues, I pray come and crush a cup of wine. Rest you merry.

[He exits]

Alex: At this same ancient feast of Capulet’s sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves, with all the admirèd beauties of Verona. Go thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show, and I will make thee think thy swan a crow.

Keanu: When the devout religion of mine eye maintains such falsehood, then turn tears to fire; And these who, often drowned, could never die, transparent heretics, be burnt for liars. One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun ne’er saw her match since first the world begun.

Alex: Tut, you saw her fair, none else being by, herself poised with herself in either eye; But in that crystal scales let there be weighed your lady’s love against some other maid that I will show you shining at this feast, and she shall scant show well that now seems best.

Keanu: I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, but to rejoice in splendor of mine own.

[They exit.]

Now she has to juggle a fake relationship on top of their murder investigation.

Hi I'm wondering if the reason why Contessa, Baby Monty Claudio, and Olivia were killed off and why Viola was deleted was that Maxis throught there were too many premade Sims in Veronaville. Veronaville is the most populated Sims 2 hood with about 25 Sims but with those Sims intact the number would be 29. Maybe Maxis didn't think that players would want to play in a neighbourhood that big? Another I think would be to create more drama for the player to be invested in. What do you think?

Hi! I can't say for sure why the devs chose to kill off or delete all of those sims, but I do have a few theories.

My best guess would be that it's related to the fire during development. In this case, I think it's possible that some of the data was lost, and the devs decided to cut their losses as opposed to piecing everything back together.

Another guess would be that some sims, like Viola, were deleted to save space. I'm not a whiz with this kind of stuff, but I would assume that blank character files take up far less space on a computer than character files with bundles of information. While this doesn't serve to explain why Contessa, Claudio, and Olivia were killed off, it might offer an explanation as to why Viola was part of the mass deletion, as well as why a lot of ancestors are nowhere to be found in the neighborhood. This could also explain why Claudio and Olivia's third child isn't programmed into the finished game, as Olivia's pregnancy is strictly cosmetic in an unmodded game.

In terms of saving space, I have a couple of theories as to why Tessie, Dio, and Livia were the ones to get the axe, though they're admittedly shaky. With Claudio and Olivia, it could have been so Romeo's living situation better mirrored Juliette's. As for Contessa, one of the matriarchs in Romeo and Juliet dies during the play, so her fate could be a reference to that (despite the fact that Lady Montague is the one who dies offstage, rather than Lady Capulet). At the same time, Contessa dying might be a reference to King Lear, who dies after Cordelia in the original Shakespeare play.

I definitely think it would have been interesting to see how the dynamics would have played out had those sims, and others, been present in Veronaville. While I'm perfectly fine with what we got, a part of me can't help but wonder who the mystery guests at Claudio and Olivia's wedding were, or how Viola's presence would have altered the narrative as we know it, or why Olivia's next birth might have pushed her over the edge.

If (if!) Still Star-Crossed ever got a second adaptation (Shonda Rhimes, make it happens!) there are some things from Melinda Taub's book that I would like to watch on screen:

- Duchess of Vesuvius: I can imagine the nasty Capulet matriarch as a bad temper, but equally sharp-tongue version of Lady Danbury, somehow guiding the Tirimo sisters.

- Escalus as the original prince from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: I prefer the Escalus from the book. More assertive, more experienced and more exasperated with Montagues and Capulets. Also, cruelest with Rosaline, which made all far more interesting when he stood as Benvolio rival.

- Lord Montague and Benvolio father-and-son relationship: Lord Montague trusts in Benvolio as the heir of Montague house (and is torn apart when he was about to be executed). Besides, one filthy uncle is enough.

- Benvolio's dedication to his family: seductive and unruly lords are the current style, but Benvolio honored behavior toward the Montagues (but aware about to when skip the rules) would be also fun. 

- Rosaline and Livia NOT as Capulet housekeepers: lowered to servants by their relatives were one of the biggest (and awkward) mistakes of the series. I keep asking myself why not let Rosaline and Livia as the poor and ignored, but also independent and proud Capulet nieces.
