summary: head cannons of Matt with an actress girlfriend!
☆SFW
Matt thought he knew everything there was to know about fame; the screaming fans, the off guard photos, and the rumors. When he started dating you, though, he was shocked at the intensity of your life.
☆ Every time you’re out in public, you get recognized by a fan or paparazzi, without fail.
☆ You’re waiting in line for your coffee, holding Matt’s hand as you engage in meaningless, light conversation with him.
☆ A loud gasp interrupts you mid sentence, causing you to look in the direction of the noise.
☆ A fan stands there with a hand covering their mouth, eyes blown open in pure shock. “Oh my God! Y/n?! Can I have a picture please?”
☆ You never turn a fan down and soon, when other people realize who you are, it’ll become like a little meet and greet, and Matt becomes the photographer.
☆ When the paparazzi recognizes you, though, you’re not as quick to pose for a picture.
☆ “Matt, don’t look,” you warn, eyes darting between him and the paparazzi snapping pictures of you through the restaurant window.
☆ Matt never listens, he immediately cranes his neck to see what you’re talking about. “I said don’t look!” you squeak, trying to pull his attention back towards you.
☆ “Fuck off,” Matt groans, throwing the paparazzi a middle finger and returning to his meal with you.
☆ Matt is always excited about your newest project, whether you’re playing a main, side, or background character.
☆ You’re getting ready for the premiere of your newest film, Burn It.
☆ “Matt what are you wearing?” you laugh.
☆ “Just supporting my girl,” he replies. He does a small twirl, showing off his outfit. He’s wearing a shirt with the movie poster printed on the front, your face right smack in the middle and the title in bold letters right above it.
☆ “It’s the premiere, you gotta dress up,” you laugh, secretly enjoying the sillyness of it all.
☆ “Fine. But I’m wearing this under my suit,” he replies, exiting the room. After a while, you start hearing the trailer to the movie playing from your room.
☆ He’s equally as supportive of your small roles.
☆ “Hey guys! So Chris, Nick, Y/n, and I are at the movie theater and we’re about to watch Y/n’s new movie The Escape,” Matt says, introducing the theme of their YouTube video.
☆ “Babe, I literally played cashier #3,” you chuckle from behind the camera, holding a big bucket of popcorn.
☆ “I’d watch it if you played a piece of grass,” he replies seriously.
☆ Whenever a new movie of yours releases, you’re usually booked and busy with press tours and interviews.
☆ During these interviews, the initial questions are usually about the movie, but as the interview progresses they become more personal.
☆ “So, Y/n, have you found Mr.Right?” the interviewer asks, fidgeting with the cue cards in front of her.
☆ The question is corny, and you’ve been asked it millions of times before, but you always answer truthfully because you’ve never hidden your relationship status.
☆ “Yup and his name is Matthew Sturniolo,” you reply cheekily, sending the camera a wink. When Matt watches the interview, he feels like a fan who just got a shoutout.
☆ There have been roles that require you to kiss your costars and Matt is never a fan of those.
☆ “Beautiful take!” the director exclaims, clapping his hands loudly in approval. “But let’s get it one more time! Add a little more fire! More passion,” he instructs, snapping his fingers.
☆ Matt joined you on set today, and quite frankly he wishes he didn’t. He hates seeing you kiss another man, even if it is just for show.
☆ Once the director gets the perfect shot, you’re all sent to lunch. “Hi baby,” you hum, walking over to Matt and wrapping your arms around his waist.
☆ You go in for a kiss and he quickly leans in, wanting to claim you in front of everyone.
☆ You are no stranger to rumors and speculations, especially not when a male costar is involved.
☆ “Actress, Y/n trades in her YouTuber for a REAL celebrity,” “Y/n found a new boo?,” “What happened to Matthew Sturniolo and who is the new guy in Y/n’s life?”
☆ Matt can’t stop reading the gossip newsletters and blogs, and even if he knows they’re just rumors he finds himself becoming sad.
☆ “Matt! Where are you?” you shout through the house. You find him on his bed, scrolling relentlessly on his laptop.
☆ “Whatcha doing? Wanna play Mario Kart?” you ask, crawling into bed next to him. Your eyes blow open in shock when you see his screen.
☆ “Matt stop reading that shit!” you exclaim. “I can’t help it,” he groans, running his hands down his face.
☆ You snatch the laptop and drag him out of bed for a night full of Mario Kart and cuddling on the couch.
☆ With a schedule as busy as yours, it can become difficult for you to make time for your personal life.
☆ “I miss you,” Matt whispers through the phone. You’re on a press tour for your newest film and your side of the bed has been empty for 2 months now.
☆ “I miss you too, baby,” you murmur. It hurt to know that you still had another month of this tour left.
☆ “When you come back I’m never letting you go,” his voice is sad, but he knows 3 months isn’t forever.
☆ “I can’t wait,” you giggle, eyes falling on the digital clock across the room. It’s getting late and you have an early interview tomorrow.
☆ “I have to go baby, but I’ll call you tomorrow, okay?” Matt’s sad to let you go, it feels like he rarely hears your voice nowadays if it isn’t playing from his TV.
☆ “Okay, beautiful.”
☆ When you’re invited to events or award shows, Matt always joins as your plus one.
☆ “And the nominees are…” the announcer says, listing the names as she reads them from the teleprompter.
☆ Matt squeezes your hand when your name is said, a huge smile spreading across his face.
☆ “The winner for best actress in a leading role is…” the suspense is killing you, but you feel the victory in your soul.
☆ “Y/n!” The entire crowd cheers at the mention of your name and you can’t help but shoot up from your seat in excitement.
☆ “Oh my God, Matt! I won!” You exclaim, pulling him in for a kiss.
☆ You scurry on stage, nervous hands taking your award and preparing for an improvised speech. You end the speech with a special thanks to your friends and family, making sure to specifically thank Matt as you blow him kisses from the stage.
☆ He watches with teary eyes and a huge, dopey smile.
☆NSFW
Matt loves joining you on set and sometimes things can become a little heated between you two.
☆ You hated photo shoots, especially when it involved lingerie and/ or bikinis. Matt, on the other hand, loved photo shoots and he was always quick to join you for them.
☆ “I’m so cold,” you shiver, plopping onto the couch next to Matt. You’re wearing a lingerie set so small that you might as well be naked.
☆ “I know of a few ways to warm you up,” Matt replies, only half joking. He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively, earning an excited giggle from you.
☆ “Oh yeah?” you tease, pulling him in for a kiss.
☆ Before you know it, he’s pushed your panties to the side and is fucking you so hard the couch is moving with each thrust.
☆ Although Matt knows your relationship with your male costars is purely professional, he can’t help but become jealous.
☆ “How was work today?” Matt asks, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
☆ “Eh same old same old. We’re stuck on the same scene,” you reply, hoping he won’t ask any further questions.
☆ “Hmm that sucks,” he hums. “What scene is it?”
☆ You gulp nervously, knowing how much Matt is going to hate your answer. “The bathroom sex scene.”
☆ You feel his body stiffen immediately. “It’s just because the set is small and the angles are awkward,” you continue.
☆ “Mhm,” is all he says.
☆ Later, when you’re getting ready for bed and doing your nighttime routine, he pins you against the bathroom counter and fucks you dumb.
☆ “This pussy is mine,” he grunts into your ear, earning a whimper from you.
☆ When you’ve been gone for long press tours, he becomes needy and you two have to resort to phone sex.
☆ “I miss you, baby,” he murmurs. “I miss you too, so much,” you reply.
☆ “No, like, I miss you,” he reiterates, allowing his hand to travel below the waistband of his sweats.
☆ “Touch yourself,” you instruct. “Pretend it’s me.”
☆ You continue to talk him through it, not stopping until you hear his beautiful, breathy moans.
☆ “You did so good,” you praise and he swears his dick gets hard again.
☆ When you finally do return from your long trips, Matt is extremely needy.
☆ He’s waiting for you impatiently at the airport, ready to engulf you in his arms as soon as he sees you.
☆ When you get home, he attacks you with a bunch of kisses until they become more needy and passionate.
☆ His hands wander all over your body, massaging and kneading at your skin like it’s the first time.
☆ You push him back into the bed and straddle his lap, bouncing on his cock until he’s satisfied.
☆ “Oh my God!— Fuck! I love you,” he moans, bucking his hips into you as he climaxes.
☆ “Holy fuck. Maybe I should go on tour more often,” you giggle, peppering kisses along Matt’s face. “Please no,” he mumbles.

Alexander Siddig:

“At my first meeting with Garak I became visibly flustered. That was entirely my choice. It wasn’t written into the script. So I set off in that direction right from the get-go. And Andy (Andrew Robinson) obviously loved it, and that character became a series-long character because of that first scene. It’s an innocuous little scene on one of the little replimats on the station, and it only lasted like five seconds but it packed a punch because of the visible, kind of a charged, discomfort. That really made it. [...] I subconsciously keep that door open with just about every character that I play, and I always keep it as ambiguous as possible. One of my first roles was in [the TV movie] A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia with Ralph Fiennes and I played Feisal and again, not in the script, but that was charged with homoerotica and implied homosexuality. I’d just come fresh off that project. And I’ve done it numerous times since, characters that are written straight I just make sure are not quite straight. That’s just one of my things, probably because I’m not quite straight myself and that’s probably perfect." - Alexander Siddig in a recent interview with comicsbeat.com

Transformers One: Is It Good Or Nah?
Tumblr media
Hello, hola、こんにちは。So…it’s been 84 years since I’ve last written on this side of the Hundred Acre Woods. For that, I do deeply apologize for my absence aksksksjsjsj. Anyways…so the Transformers franchise, in terms of the movies, has a very shaky history.
We all know the Transformers movies; it’s pretty known by now that the movies are just a rollercoaster of quality. For every Bumblebee, there will always be a Revenge of The Fallen. When it comes to me specifically, I have a very complicated relationship with this aspect of the franchise for a better part of my life. The original G1 movie is okay. The first movie is alright, ROTF is Satan’s spawn, DOTM is good, AOE is a chaotic mess that I both hate and love, and the less said about TLK, the better. Then, a miracle happened in the form of Bumblebee (2018) and it sets the path of redemption for these movies. It continues with Rise of The Beasts and while it’s an 8/10 movie for me, it’s still a great movie that continues the momentum. Now, it brings us to today.
I wanna bring this up before talking about Transformers One because you will not believe me when I say that this movie is EVEN BETTER THAN LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE FILM SERIES. YES, IT OUTDID EVEN THE GREATEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIES BY A FREAKING LANDSLIDE. JUST…how did we even get a movie like this? The fact that it exists is truly the most mind boggling, yet pleasant surprise so far in the series to date. Words cannot describe the experience I have gone through at this moment. Just…what did we do to get something this incredible and this damn good. Amazing is an understatement; Transformers One is easily the best Transformers movie to date.
The way it gives us genuinely some of the best moments in Transformers history is an indicator of the majesty they wanted to make. Sure, no movie is truly perfect. However, for this one, the amount of things to discuss and think about is something that rivals even the most complex media such as Earthspark and Animated. So what am I doing here standing around for? Let's talk about a movie about two bros chilling in an Energon mine, five feet apart cause they’re not gay! :D
For this review…I’m going to give this movie’s pacing the respect it deserves (due to how crucial it is to the story) by highlighting the most important details I want to talk about in order. After we get the nitpicks and other good stuff out of the way, I’m so excited to unleash all the inner brainworks in my head at the moment. So let’s goooooo.
3, 2, 1, Pingu.
(Also, I will be going into spoilers, so Sparknotes version: it’s a rare 10/10. ✨)
Tumblr media
The Good, The Bad, and The Badassitron
Tumblr media
Let’s go get the nitpicks out of the way. I say nitpicks because they thankfully don’t drag down the movie for me. First things first: I wish that the main trio of Decepticons (Doritoscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave’s boobs) play a much bigger role here. I felt like how we got from Starscream in charge to now all of sudden loyal to Megatron after having the crap beaten out of him is where the movie could benefit from a few minutes more to the runtime. To me, their loyalty to Megatron by the end is something that needs to be earned. However, like I said, it didn’t bring the movie down for me because they’re not the focus here, The focus is on Megatron’s relationship with Optimus. We’ll get there when we get there. Bee’s fine for what he is, but I feel like he can be cut out of the movie and replaced with someone else. The story would be as it is, like he really doesn’t have much of a reason to be here. However, like I said, he’s fine for what he is. The only other nitpick I have is that it’s weird that the Quintessons have little to no direct involvement in the main conflict, since it’s their rule that led to this mess in the first place. However, since we’re getting two more movies, I’m curious to see how this is gonna play out in the future. Anyways, that’s all I have to say about the issues I have with the movie, so let’s get to the good stuff…EVERYTHING ELSE.
Oh my god, the music score? Easily among my favorite scores in Transformers media to date. The way it not only incorporates music from shows such as Transformers Prime so beautifully, but it gives the world so much life and majesty that is straight out of a Biblical epic. The ending song at the credits reminds me so much of On My Soul, just what an utter bop. Of course, I also need to mention the biggest highlight of this movie…the animation. Oh my god, this movie is utterly gorgeous. Not only are the settings so vibrant and brimming with life and personality, but I absolutely adore the facial expressions on the characters. I’m glad that it’s emotive enough to not fall into the Uncanny Valley, and the characters felt so real. I especially love Orion’s facial expressions, because of how well they convey his growing heartbreak and loss of innocence over the course of the story that we’ll discuss later here. Overall, the music and animation are good enough reasons why you need to see this movie on the big screen. Just…MMMMMMM. Delicious food.
The characters are also really likable and enduring. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like Badassitron going in, but honestly, he’s a Bumblebee done well. He has plenty of funny moments and jokes, and I like how they don’t have him make quips during the more serious moments here and there. He is the comic relief done right. I’m pleasantly surprised by how they handle Elita’s character. At first, based on the promos, she seems to be the Ultra Serious Girlboss who girlbosses her way into the Elita One we all know and love. However, as it turns out, it’s revealed that she’s a neurotic, yet well meaning dork and I love that for her akskssk. I especially love how her relationship with Orion develops over time as they went to find the One Piece. She went from being irritated with his tendency to cause mischief at work and ignoring protocols to warming up to him because of his resilience and optimism (no pun intended) of their people being freed. Honestly, it’s so refreshing to see a flawed, yet likable Elita here and she’s perhaps one of my favorite iterations so far. Moving on, and oh man…where do we even begin with our good buddy Sentinel Prime. Not only is he one of the evil ass motherfuckers in the franchise so far, but he is a fantastic main villain. Just seeing this despicable bastard manipulate his way into power makes you love to hate him, he’s also pretty funny, and the way he poses a threat to our heroes provides enough interesting groundwork for the conflict between two of our main amigos. Also, shoutout to Jon Hamm. He did an excellent job at portraying Sentinel as this smug, arrogant little bitch. Just, amazing. And speaking of portrayals, the entire voice cast did an amazing job here. You can tell how much they clearly respect the characters they’re portraying while also breathing new life into them. This is what animation studios need to do; hire actors that suit the characters well DAMMIT. Other positives I have is the amount of neat cameos of our favorite blorbos in the background, the comedic timing is excellent thanks to the voice actors’ deliveries and banter with each other, and in spite of the darker tone the more it progresses, it also has a very cozy, fun feel to it due to one of the movie’s main central themes. And speaking of themes…this is where we will end the section here.
Now…I am saving the best for last. What I mean by that is that there are two characters that manage to be my favorite aspect of the movie overall. So…let’s go talk about them.
A Tale of Two Friends:
Tumblr media
I’m struggling to use the right words to describe how I feel about Orion and Megatron. To me…they’re the true standouts in the movie for me. Their relationship is portrayed with so much care and gravity that they both felt like real people. Not only are they both likable and charming, but seeing their relationship break apart over the course of the movie is hauntingly beautiful and tragic. Trust me, it’s not the shipper speaking here. It’s so refreshing to see them together in the big screen for the first time since The Last Knight, but it’s also so interesting seeing them in a different light than what other Transformers media did. I’m starting in the order of the movie because the movie’s pacing is perfect. Every scene connects to each other perfectly and it makes room for the wild ride we’re in for.
First, let’s start with Orion.
Tumblr media
We start the movie off with Orion breaking into the Iaconian Hall of Records and search for anything on the status of the One Piece. Then, he gets caught by some guards and a chase ensues. Right away, we get a good idea of his mischievous, yet curious personality and his determination to discover more about the surface world. He won’t take no for an answer and while it does lead to him getting in trouble often, it’s genuinely admirable to see him have the initiative to make the best of his situation in life. Then, right before he gets caught, Megatron comes in with a cart that serves as a distraction for Orion to slip away and they both head to work.
Tumblr media
Right off the bat, we see that Megatron is the more relaxed, more cautious out of the two. He tries his best to stay out of trouble and to keep his good ol unhinged buddy alive due to his wacky shenanigans. At the same time, he also has the same kind of energy he shares with Orion in that they both keep their heads up in spite of their circumstances. Adding to the layers is Orion bringing him the Fallen sticker, which is how we get a good idea of how much they care for each other. True, they have their own frustrations with each other. Megatron is frustrated by Orion’s tendency to get in trouble, along with not recognizing his discomfort with some of the things he drags him into such as the Iacon 5000, and Orion is frustrated by Megatron keeping his head down to avoid trouble. However, they always have each other’s back and they are each other’s equals.
We also see that they’re both kindhearted people who will stand up for the little guy through risking their lives to save Jazz from the collapsing Energon mine, even though it resulted in Elita being demoted. From the start, their desire to make their world a better place is set in stone there. This is furthered strengthened by Orion standing up for Elita by flipping off Darkwing and both him and Megatron needing some milk afterwards. Also, quick side note: Orion’s sass and dynamics with the other characters is so damn refreshing. I love how he literally has no chill in speaking what’s on his mind, and I especially adore how he interacts with Elita. Pure malewife material aksksksz.
Back on track, he then drags Megatron into the Iacon 5000 so that they can prove themselves to be just as worthy as the upper class racers in the game. As they fly through the race track with mere jet packs, their fellow miners cheer for them and they were pretty close to finishing in first place had it not been for the combo of an injury Megatron got and the first place winner coming in. I’m not gonna reveal who won the race, but let me say that who won it is a pleasant surprise. Anyways, this earned the attention of Sentinel Prime and he went down to their recovery ward to personally congratulate them on their boldness in participating. He even offers them a nice ol place in his crib, which they might've accepted if Darkwing didn’t throw them down into Undertale due to his jealousy and anger. Throughout this scene, we see Orion and Megatron being validated by the Prime they’ve admired for so long for breaking out of the status quo and it lays the foundation for later on. Eventually, they met Bee, found the map to the One Piece, and ventured into the surface world while accidentally dragging Elita along for the ride. Pretty landscapes and peril later, they end up in the cave where the bodies of de Primes are at. They wake up Alpha Trion and he reveals the bitter truth:
Uh oh, it turns out Sentinel Prime is a LIAR and that he betrayed the Primes in order to be in charge of the Cybertronian population. Here…we see the innocent viewpoints of Orion and Megatron shattered permanently from here on out. While Orion reacts with anger as he should, Megatron is utterly furious with this horrific revelation. The Prime he has admired for so long, the Prime who just gave him an opportunity to move upwards just minutes ago…turns out to be a cowardly, spineless fraud that took away their autonomy to having basically a crucial organ in their bodies and to make choices for themselves. It isn’t helped by Sentinel giving up the Energon (that they risked their lives in mining for) to the very evil overlords that are responsible for their people being this way for so many generations.
What happens back in the cave is one of three excellent scenes that is borderline uncomfortable due to how realistic it is. We see Megatron essentially having a mental breakdown from finding out his life is a lie and Sentinel is a big stinker. When Orion tries to calm him down, he finally vents to him about his frustrations with Orion’s tendency to cause trouble over the years and calls him out for not thinking before acting on his impulses. It also helps that we see his patience starting to be worn thin earlier in the recovery ward and when Darkwing threw them both in the Undertale. Then, he finishes his breakdown with one simple, yet effective confession: he doesn’t want to just take Sentinel down…he wants to kill him. To say that hearing Megatron say this left me and the theater in shock is a massive understatement. It genuinely caught me off guard, but in a good way. We finally saw Megatron at his breaking point: his entire life, including being worked to death, has been for nothing. It’s a great scene because it’s an argument where you understand both perspectives here. You understand Orion’s bewilderment at Megatron’s unhinged behavior and wanting him to take a deep breath so he can clear his head while you also understand Megatron finally having enough of being a doormat for too long and Orion putting his own wants before others. Neither side is right and wrong, and I appreciate how Orion’s and Megatron’s emotions are valid here. From this point on, all hell breaks loose.
Tumblr media
After they gain their T-cogs and the recording to cancel Sentinel on Twitter by Alpha Trion, the main amigos enjoy the euphoria of transforming for the first time. However…we see Megatron enjoying the euphoria of having the T-cog too much. After fighting off one of Sentinel’s soldiers, he forcibly takes the callout post and vows to make Sentinel pay for his crimes. When Orion tries to protest, Megatron coldly tells him to step aside or else there’ll be a problem between them. Orion’s expression here is why I love his facial expressions the most as mentioned earlier. You can see all the thoughts he’s having right now, especially the shock of seeing his best friend giving into his darker thoughts expressed back at the cave. Now, the coin is flipped. Orion is the sensible, level headed one of the two while Megatron is the impulsive, stubborn one that he always scolds Orion for being so in earlier scenes.
As they make their way back home, they ended up captured by some Decepticons and are being interrogated by Starscream and his band of mean girls. When Megatron walks away from the interrogation nonchalantly, Starscream tries to assert himself as the leader. However, it ended up breaking into a fight that quickly went HOLY FUCKING SHIT, HE NEEDS SOME MILK when Megatron overpowers him. We see a horrified Orion in the crowd and they can only look at each other. Their friendship will never be the same after that…especially now that Megatron finally got a taste of power that’s been denied to him all his life. I know that this is probably gonna be a point of contention for some people with how Megatron’s turn to the Dark Side is portrayed here, so let me provide this perspective:
How long did Megatron have these thoughts?
Given presumably how many times he had to bust Orion out of trouble, and having to keep quiet just to stay alive, you have to wonder how long he kept quiet about his frustrations and hidden rage at the circumstances of his life. From that angle, giving into his intrusive thoughts is inevitable. He just needed the push to act on them. Essentially…the poor guy needed therapy, and sadly, there are no therapists on Cybertron. 😔
Eventually, Megs and Badassitron got captured along with Starscream and several other Decepticons by Airachnid. It’s now up to Orion and Elita to team up with the remaining Decepticons left and YOU GOTTA HELP US. Here, we see Orion finally realize how badly he screwed up for not understanding how his actions affected the people he cares about over the years. It got through his head that he didn’t appreciate Megatron’s patience and willingness to protect him from the consequences. While he means well, he doesn’t realize how selfish he’s also being with the things he does in his overactive ways. Upon realizing this, he takes responsibility for the amigos being in this mess…a mess that happened because of him. That was his mistake. He is now left with no choice but to go forward and make things right by his friend and the people they love. Then…we get another one incredible scene and that is Elita’s pep talk to him.
Tumblr media
While it starts off a bit comedic due to how this is clearly Elita’s first time with cheering someone up and Orion pointing it out, it then leads to her expressing how she always admire his optimism towards a better future for their kind and his refusal to back down in the face of struggle. It’s the embodiment of the movie’s most important message: having hope even when the odds are against you. That fact that we have such a strong theme in a turbulent era we’re in at the moment is why this scene works so well. Change starts with one person, and then becomes bigger and stronger when they continue to fight against injustice and inspire others to do the same. Thus, Elita’s pep talk gave Orion the drive to get back up and keep moving forward by teaming up with the Decepticons, go back to Iacon, and free their buddies. The theme is furthered strengthened by Orion rallying the other miners into helping him, as he now has the power to make things better for his people.
Quick side note, but Elita is an interesting foil to Megatron’s in terms of how they react to Orion’s unhinged sassy king energy. While she’s also annoyed by his tendency to get in trouble a lot, she has also admire his ability to remain optimistic even with their shitty conditions. Once he takes responsibility for his decisions, she softens up towards him and she remains his dearest friend by the end. In contrast, by the time he has apologized for his mistakes, it’s too late for Megatron. It’s clear that these two are what shaped Orion into Optimus, for better and for worst.
Meanwhile, Megatron gets tortured by Sentinel after repeatedly defying him. Then, he gets the Decepticon symbol carved painfully into his chest by the blue son of a bitch. That essentially became the straw that broke the camel’s back and it ultimately drove Megatron into a point of no return. After the other main amigos rescued the other amigos and a ROBOT FIGHT occurs, Megatron now has the opportunity to finally show Sentinel that his day of reckoning has come. Now, he must die. However, after putting the callout post on Twitter, Orion realizes what his bestie is about to do and tries to stop him. However, Megatron quickly overpowers him and prepares the final blow to Sentinel. Then…what happened next left me and the entire theater in stunned silence for a good few minutes up until one point. At first, I thought to myself:
“Ain’t no way he’s gonna do this. There’s no way they’re bold enough to have Megatron do this.”
But then…it happened. The shot from the fusion cannon meant for Sentinel ended up hitting Orion instead, sending him flying near the entrance to the planet’s core and hanging on for dear life. The moment he cries out to Megatron for help…I bursted into tears right there. His innocent perspective has been destroyed permanently, and he’s now a broken shell of his formerly spunky self. To add more salt to the wound, Megatron reaches for him…only for him to declare that he’s done saving him from trouble after one too many times. Then, he sent him falling into the core. Megatron has crossed the line, and with eyes now red with hate and pain, he finally killed Sentinel in front of a now devoted group of followers who will obey his every word. He has now become the person he has sworn to destroy…
As that’s going on, Orion’s broken, lifeless body is gently brought down inside of the core and it’s revealed that he is the one who is destined to receive the One Piece…aka, the Matrix of Leadership. Thus, he is now reborn as the Optimus Prime we all know and love. The use of a theme from the G1 movie is the cherry on top of an utterly haunting, yet powerful scene that needs to be seen on the big screen.
After he has risen and put an end to Megatron’s madness, he decides that the best option for them both is banishing Megatron and his followers from Iacon. The fact that he chose this option instead of simply killing his former best friend really speaks a lot about not only his character, but also how much their relationship has essentially been ruined by how different they are in terms of wanting change. Alas, Megatron goes off into the sunset with his followers and Optimus is left there…mourning the death of their once great bond. When it showed a memory of how they met afterwards, it made me sobbed uncontrollably. At this point, you’re left with one question:
Will they ever go back to where they were at before?
Thus, we end on a bittersweet ending…an ending of two former friends who were torn apart by the sins of the fathers and the aftermath of said sins. All there’s left to do is wait and hope that everything will be okay soon.
Tumblr media
Overall…Orion and Megatron are what makes the movie for me. Their chemistry, their character development, and the phenomenal performances of Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry are what makes them the most layered, most complex iterations of the characters respectively.
Conclusion: IT’S SO GOOD, YOU GUYS.
Tumblr media
Words cannot describe how Transformers One is a phenomenal love letter to the franchise I hold very dear to my heart since I was a kid. Overall, this is a fantastic movie that you will love.
It has phenomenal characters, gorgeous animation, an amazing score, and a powerful story of how you have the power to change the world and make it better. For the very first time since Cyberverse, I award the very rare 10/10 to this film.
Please check it out. I applaud everyone involved in this project for making it a beautiful work of art for the fans. It is indeed more than meets the eye.

Shuggy modern day AU where Buggy has a circus artist school/daycare for kids and Shanks constantly brings his godchild Luffy. That kid is so hyperactive that all the teachers don’t want to work with him anymore but anytime Buggy tries to refuse him coming back all Shanks does is flirt Buggy into submission.
Alvida constantly rips Buggy a new one at the evening wine session.
Meanwhile Luffy has the best time getting all bendy like snake man, hop on trampolines and swing on the trapeze.
Maybe Zoro is also there learning how to throw knifes.
This is,,, The cutest thing.
Buggy tries his best not to succumb, but have you seen Shanks? The guy is charming. And it's not like Buggy hates Luffy, either, he's just pretty fucking annoying and hard to deal with (but he has talent and he's a genuinely good kid). So Buggy always ends up letting the kid in. Alvida always laughs at Buggy for this but at the end of the day, she tells him not to get his hopes up because guys like this one only want to flirt to get their kids into school, and Buggy agrees! He hates Shanks! He doesn't even like him! His body is betraying him, okay? He's just hot. That's all. One day it's Luffy's father who comes to pick him up from there, though, and Alvida can see the disappointment in Buggy's eyes. She doesn't need to say anything to get on his nerves because he already can read the "I told you so" in her eyes.
One day, Luffy's the last one to stay waiting for somebody to pick him up from school, and Buggy has the responsibility of waiting there with him. And with Zoro. The kid refuses to go without Luffy. Besides, Zoro is also waiting for his dad to come pick him up. Anyway, long story short, Mihawk (Zoro's dad. Like in every Au. What a surprise) appears and ends up taking Luffy home too and Buggy is suddenly free of the burden. Seconds after this (before Buggy can finally go home) Shanks' car suddenly appears and he starts apologizing and asking where Luffy is. And something like this happens (don't expect narration besties I am still sick):
Shanks: So sorry I was late, I had uh, things to sort out. Where's anchor? Buggy: Huh, yeah, things to sort out. Mihawk took your kid home. Shanks: My home? The kid's home? His home? Buggy: Do I look like I asked? Shanks: You probably should, since you're the one in charge and all. Buggy: Hey! The kids are friends! And I'm not asking Mr.Hypnotizing-Gold-Cat-Eyes here for his direction, thank you very much. Call him yourself. Now, if we're done here- Shanks: Wait! Wait. I was picking up my daughter from her music lessons. Uta. Buggy: Did I ask? I have had enough with one of your bastards already, I don't want to know- Shanks: I just don't want you to think I forgot about Luffy I- I am not the perfect role model but I care about him. I was in my way. Buggy: Yeah, no, I know. Kid talks about you all the time, Mr.Best-Guitarist-In-The-World. Now, seriously, I need to go home. Shanks: It's still early, though. Buggy: And running this place and still doing shows isn't exactly a thing that takes up little time, so- Shanks: But you can skip one training session. Today only. Right? We could hang out Buggy: Hang out? What are you? Twelve? Do you want to go on a silly movie date later and hold hands during the scary parts? Shanks: ... I wouldn't be opposed to that. Buggy: You're unbelievable. Shanks: But if we do watch a horror movie I don't want one about clowns, they're not scary and I rather like them. Buggy: Don't push it, I can show you how scary a clown can be. Shanks: Playing hard to get? Buggy: I can't fucking stand you! I could literally go full murder clown on you and you'd get horny by it Shanks: I told you I like clowns-

hiiii!!!
if ur still taking request for jack harlow, here’s one
y/n and jack are co stars on white men cant jump and they’re in s secret relationship. they’re at the premiere and one of the interviewers ask if y/n and jack are a thing because they’re always flirting.
heyy guys! i know it’s been a good five months since i’ve posted and im so sorryyy i completely forgot about this, i found this in the drafts and decided to finish it for yall. idk if i’m going to the bachelor series i started, but instead of worrying about that, enjoy what i wrote a few months back for yall. i love y’all so much and hope y’all have been doing good❤️❤️
no smut just fluff
“what was your reaction when you found out you got the role in this movie?” the interviewer asked, pushing the microphone my way. “umm, we’ll i grew up watching this movie all the time with my dad. he always showed me all these funny old school movies growing up. so when i got the call that i got the part, i was actually with my dad! he was so happy and proud and it was just a moment i’ll never forget.” i explained smiling, just thinking of the memory.
“so is that what really made you want to do this movie?” the interviewer asked, making me nod my head. “yeah. that an—“ i was quickly interrupted by a pair of hands harshly grab my waist. i quickly spin around seeing the tall curly brown haired man behind me, dying laughing making me roll my eyes. “ i got you didn’t i?” he asked laughing as i pushed him. “shut up.” i mumbled. “y’all got that, right?” jack asked the camera man.
“you should’ve seen your face, y/n.” the interviewer laughed. “yeah well, he thinks it’s so cute to scare people.” i started taking the microphone from the woman’s hand. i turn my whole body towards jack as i spoke into the mircophone. “it’s gonna be cuter when i punch you in that pretty face of yours cause you scared me so bad.” i finished “what you gotta say about that?” i asked pushing the mircophone in his direction.
“ i don’t know..” jack said confused, sucking his teeth. “ i think somebody mad cause i successfully scared her. that’s what i’m hearing.” he shrugged his shoulders, sucking in his top and bottom lip to form a perfect straight line with his lips. “i was literally in the middle of answering question, and you came behind and scared me.” i said defensively. “or maybe, you’re just mad cause you fall for it every time.” jack said confidently. as i opened my mouth to say something, nothing came out.
i rolled my eyes and gave the interviewer back her microphone as jack laughed with his finger pointed at me. “hush modeee.” he bragged laughing. “this is what it’s like working with jack harlow, by the way.” i said in the mircophone, still pointing at him. “it’s like working with a 5 year old.” i added as he calmed down, the interviewer laughed at my joke before continuing with the question she asked me earlier.
“i’m sorry, what was i saying? i completely forgot, because of somebody.” i pointed at jack, looking up at him. i noticed the way his baby blues sparkled while piercing my whole body, still. the way a soft smile crept in corner of his mouth, while his messy curls lightly blew from my wind. i felt my core start to arch for the man beside me while his hand creep on my back, dangerously low resting a couples inch’s above my ass.
“y/n?” the lady asked, grabbing my attention. “i’m sorry? i wasn’t listening, what were you saying?” i said, giving her my undivided attention. i watch her look at me then at jack before smiling again. “i was telling you that you left off answering what made you want to be apart of this movie?” she asked as i nodded.
“right! i said because it means a lot to my dad. honestly another reason is jack harlow. he’s just suck a handsome man, why wouldn’t you not want to work with him? look at him.” i heard a soft laugh leave the ladies, indicating that she thought it was a joke. it wasn’t. i was being serious. once jack told me he was going to be in the movie, i wanted to work on something with him. so did i.
“what do you have to say about that, jack?” she asked as i looked up at jack, exactly how he was looking at me earlier. “i-im uh, flattered r-really.” jack stuttered with his eyes still on mine. “ y/n is the best scene partner ever.” jack said, breaking eye contact. “so that’s all you like me for, is just making scenes?” i asked jokingly defended.
“you know what i mean, don’t do that.” he smiled looking down at me. i couldn’t help but not to warm myself around him. his arm embrace, making me feel at home. i couldn’t help my smile from leaving my face as jack warmed his arms around my back, leaving a soft kiss ontop of my head. “all jokes aside, this is my girl. sweetest person i’ve ever met. i love this girl so much!” he said not letting go of me. the interviewer pout before awwing us.
i rested my head against jacks chest as he wrapped his arms around me, embracing me in a hug. “so another the internet as for the two of you, are you guys dating? i mean me and the internet can tell there’s some type of tension between.” jack and looked at eachother before laughing our asses off at the interviewers question. “jack and i are not a thing.” i admitted while still laughing.
“yeah, she’s like my best friend.” jack also replied. i released myself from our hug, but kept one arm wrapped around jacks waist as he cropied my movements. “okay.” she said defensively, after she shot her hands up. “just checking, you know i love the drama.” she laughed. “i mean don’t get me wrong, he’s a very attractive man. but we’re just friends.” i smiled.
“well thank you so much for answering the question y/n! both of you look so amazing tonight and i can’t wait to watch the movie!” she smiled for the last time. we said our goodbyes and walked off, leaving that interview in the back of our minds.
“you really do looking stunning, baby.” jack whispered in my ear as i looked up at him with our arms still at eachothers waists. “oh, i know.” i smiled.

You are awesome. I love your response to the one anon who talked about Ryan vs. Chris.
I’ve always felt there was a subset of tumblr “fans” or fans of gossip that live to snark and say rude things about Chris. Way before soba noodles came along. There are some popular blogs on here I detest and loathe because they’ve said some truly cruel things due their anger and disappointment in him but since others loved these blogs they would agree with them. I can’t understand the concept of following a fanbase on tumblr for a celeb just to sit there and post negatively about them to other people.
Ryan is a bankable star but are his movies really that quality? Is his acting really quality? I don’t know if I agree because six underground remains one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while. He also reminds me of Deadpool in literally every movie I’ve seen him. However, I still find him funny and likeable usually so I’ll tune in occasionally to his stuff. He and Blake are cute but also sometimes annoying but it doesn’t bother me.
I agree that CE is going through a bit of a career rough patch but honestly? I think you can kind of say the same about other actors too.
For example, I think Chris pine had a bit of a rough go with his directing debut (panned by critics and audiences alike - roasted by everyone). Dungeons and dragons was well received but didn’t do too much at the box office. Same with WISH. Same with don’t worry darling.
All happened this past year and this year. But are Chris pine fans roasting him 24/7? I mean, I don’t really know but I don’t think to the extent of which Chris E’s fans are doing to him. They probably hope he will get more opportunities to shine and want the best for him. Because they are his FANS.
It’s not really about comparing likeminded actors but I think CE fans and former haters have really crossed serious lines and it sincerely bothers me. The comments they’re left on that ASP post - throwing around the term nazism like it’s NBD. It’s revolting to me and I don’t see how they are pleased with themselves.
Sure I may have an unpopular opinion but I don’t think I’m wrong. I like that you remain positive but also realistic. You’re not a blind Stan and it’s really nice to see some spaces where you are maintaining your peace and giving others that as well.
Chris isn’t perfect, and I have said where I felt he lacks in his acting. But I’d much rather focus on positive things in his career. I see no point in constantly just focusing on the negative. What a miserable way to think.
Ryan can be bankable with the right script and role. But it can be very one note. This is someone who became aware of Ryan in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. I enjoy him but he’s not switching up his characters that much either.
I like one Chris Pine character and that’s Rise of the Guardians because I don’t have to see his face. I’m not a fan and that’s why I choose not to mention him. So we’re moving on.
I’m sure there’s a lot going on that most of us will never really know. There’s a lot of trolling, a lot of lying, a lot of distraction, and I just don’t care. I’m going to stay in my attic with fanfics and hopefully a new role real soon.

anything you’ve been watching/reading lately that you’d recommend? i think you have stellar taste in media (aka it often matches mine lol) so am curious! hope you feel better soon 💖
Ummmm yes, love this ask!!! (Also I’m so flattered 🥰 you have great taste as well btw)
Books:
Mo Ryan’s Burn It Down! If you’re at all interested in the entertainment industry and how it all gets made, this is basically required reading
the Succession script books (pricey but personally worth it)
I just finished Jill Gutowitz’s Girls Can Kiss Now and felt very seen, a wee bit too relatable
And I’m currently also reading Ann Patchett’s This is the Story of a Happy Marriage, which is a great book for my fellow writers to read
Substack:
I’m a paid subscriber to Hunter Harris’ Hung Up newsletter and I’ve never once regretted it lol
Gotta shout out Dracula Daily as well as the one podcast I listen to rn, re: Dracula (I listen and read at the same time which is perfect for me lol)
Gilmore Women - a Gilmore Girls recap newsletter that talks about everything wrong with each episode lol. I sped through the first six seasons and now I’m depressed that I’m caught up lol
TV:
Minx s2 - it is on Starz which I know most people don’t have but this season has been EXCELLENT
Only Murders in the Building s3 - it’s like a comfort show for me at this point, despite being about murder it makes me feel so cozy. Nora Ephron vibes
The Bear s2 - everyone’s been talking about it already but I just finished and god it was GOOD
The Sopranos - everyone should be doing # Sopranos Sunday with me!!! It’s so fun!! This show is soooo good, really living up to the hype for me
Acapulco - really cute show, makes me wish I was still on vacation in Mexico
Poker Face - bring back standalone episodes like this!!! Bring back character actors doing incredible guest star roles!!!
The Other Two - just. It was the funniest show on TV. It really was. 30 Rock’s spiritual successor which is pretty much the highest praise I can give it
Movies:
Red Eye - I rewatched it after Oppenheimer and it really holds up. Fun, tight thriller that is only like an hour 20 lol. Also Brian Cox aka Logan Roy is in it (and Jayma Mays my beloved)
Theater Camp - as a Jewish theater kid who went to and/or worked at a summer camp every year of her life from ages 4-20, there was no way I wasn’t gonna like this
Mamma Mia series - obviously everyone on tumblr knows about these already but I made my family watch them with me for the Fourth of July and god if I could live in the world of any movie it’d be this one ❤️
Man Up - very cute & fun British rom com I first discovered in college and rewatched this summer. Everyone has incredible comedic chemistry in this, and Lake Bell & Simon Pegg have great sexual chemistry as well (quite a lot of British faces who were nobodies when this was made who’ve gone on to bigger things - most notably Phoebe Waller-Bridge who’s only in a single scene)
X-Men: First Class - my favorite superhero movie ❤️
Indiana Jones series - I rewatched the whole series and saw the new one in theaters this summer. The first and third are literal masterpieces. Second one is mean spirited and racist. Fourth actually has quite a bit of charm, but then it fell apart in the back half. The new one…woof. Nobody but Steven Spielberg should be allowed to direct Indy movies.
Asteroid City - the longer it’s been since I saw it, the more and more I think it might be Wes’ masterpiece
Past Lives - incredible. But I know you already know that one lol
Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret - perfect, perfect film.
The Other Guys - we need Adam McKay and Will Ferrell to get back together, the fate of studio comedies hangs on this (anyway this movie is hilarious - but also if hell is real Marky Mark is obviously gonna burn for all eternity)
Comedy:
John Mulaney: Baby J - I saw him do this special live when he was touring it and I’m mad he cut the FBI bit but he’s still got it

Barry: wow (4x08)
I mean... "wow" seems like a pretty good word for it.
Cons:
Footage not found, honestly? This was more or less perfect television. The only shot I didn't like was the fade up on the clapping audience towards the end with Sally directing a high school production of Our Town. I think because we'd had a few very iconic, in-your-face shots leading up to it, and that one felt like it pushed over the edge for me, in openly acknowledging, I guess, the theatre of the whole thing? But that's the tiniest of nitpicks.
Pros:
Where to even begin? I think what I'll do is just run down the ultimate fates of the characters we most care about.
Fuches does this final act of services for Barry, absolving him of any wrongdoing in their relationship while doing the most redeeming thing he can in terms of his own role in the man Barry turns out to be. He rescues John for him. It's so interesting that they don't talk, they don't have any sort of final words with each other, and Fuches's final actions are to shoot and kill Hank, and then to pass Barry's son back off to him, a man that he has every reason to believe will just continue a cycle of violence. It's a gift that Fuches gives to Barry, but it's also a pretty bittersweet idea, if you think about it. But Fuches arguably gets the best ending of any character, in terms of escaping off into the dark of night to do who knows what else with the rest of his life. He doesn't seem to play a role in the film adaptation that we see, so he seems to have escaped his consequences.
Hank... I mean, watching him break down as he admits that he killed Cristobal, that final shot of him and the statue... Jesus Christ. Hank has been walking around without his heart for the past eight years, and Fuches forces him to admit the truth of that, then shoots him directly in his literal heart... it's just, it's horrifyingly beautiful. I was really fucked up by it if we're being honest. Hank also made only a very brief cameo appearance in what we saw of the movie, which just emphasizes how pointlessly tragic this story is (in a good way). Everything that Hank went through, all the pain of it, and it ultimately didn't even make the cut for the story of Barry and Cousineau. I love that we are thwarted from seeing any sort of final showdown between Barry and Hank, any final moment of reckoning. Because the truth is, Barry never gave a shit about Hank. Hank gave a shit about Barry for a while, but in the end, he only lured Barry to Sally and John in order to appease Fuches. I love how ultimately they were not really central to each other's stories.
Cousineau serving life in prison, being blamed for Janice's death, is the worse fate anybody in the entire show suffers, I think. It's poignantly pointless and terrible. His ego, his constant grasping for relevance, and at the end of the day he gets a movie made about him that paints him as the villain. He kills Barry not for attention but for pure and simple vengeance. But in doing so he kills the only chance he had to clear his own name, and for true justice for Janice to be found. Janice's father is never going to know or believe the full truth, and Cousineau is going to be remembered forever more as a murderer of not only a cop, but also a vulnerable, traumatized young man who asked him for his help.
Sally's ending is grim in a quieter sort of way. The fact that she never wanted to have a kid, that she didn't want the life she ended up with, has been clear to us these past few episodes. We start this one off with Sally just laying it all out there for John. Telling him they're fugitives, that Barry is a murderer, that Sally is too. She breaks into tears as she confesses that she's not a good person and she hasn't been a good mom. But after the shootout between Hank and Fuches's men, Sally calls for John, looking for him. And once she and Barry talk and she realizes that Barry isn't going to turn himself in, she leaves. And she takes her son with her.
We see her in a teaching role, working at a high school. It's unclear if she still yearns for glory, if she still feels herself reaching for something she'll never attain. The moment when John gets permission to have a sleepover at a friend's house really stuck out to me, because John says "I love you" to his mother, and she doesn't say it back, instead responding to ask him how the play was, seeking external validation for her talents. It paints the picture of a woman who is doing what she can to protect her child, but who never actually wanted motherhood, never mind single motherhood, to be thrust upon her.
And Barry...
Barry won, but he's dead so he doesn't know. Barry got that fantasy reputation, he got absolved of his sins as he requested from God, he got buried with full honors, he got lionized and glorified in film. He wanted to be an actor so he could shape the story of himself, and now somebody else has shaped it quite conveniently for him. That scene we saw of him sitting on the porch swing telling his son about his heroism in the war, that's what Barry was after. He was after someone, somewhere, telling him that he wasn't to blame for his own actions. The whole damn show, he ran from people who tried to tell him to own up. He tried to buy Cousineau's forgiveness, he exploited Sally's own shit to get what he wanted, which was a role as a family man with a wife and son.
And then Sally leaves him, taking John with him, and Barry has a moment where he says he'll turn himself in. It seems like he means it. We've seen him on the cusp of feeling full guilt and responsibility for what he's done in the past, but this is the real deal. And then he gets shot and killed by Gene Cousineau. He's remembered the way he wants to be remembered, but what does it matter?
God, the shot of Cousineau sitting down on his couch while dead Barry sits in the armchair... that was chilling. That's going to stick with me for a long time.
We get our final dose of... can you call it comedy? At the very end, as we watch John getting to see snippets of the movie made about his father's heroic life and tragic death at the hand of the villainous Gene Cousineau. It's a terrible, wooden movie full of god-awful writing and cheesy performances, bizarre and ridiculous and telling a story that bears no resemblance to reality, while using almost identical scene setups and scenarios in certain key spots, to drive home how the narrative was able to get twisted in such a way.
The best part, the most on-the-nose thing, was having Barry give the MacBeth speech in the movie. "Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." INDEED. That's indeed the whole damn thing, isn't it???
That shot of John smiling at the movie before it cuts to black is also going to haunt me. He is reassured by this. By his father the hero, his father the victim. Never the bad guy. Barry is immortalized in the very lack of accountability that he always sought, and now we have to wonder what John is walking away from this movie with. A belief that everything his father did was actually okay, because Hollywood tells him so? Potential future alienation from his mother, if Sally dares try to be honest about their past, as she was during that brief moment in which they were Hank's hostages? Ultimately, Barry leaving a son behind in his death was such an important thematic element in this show, because it makes us question which cycles might possibly be broken, and which will continue from here.
This is a brilliant episode of a brilliant show. I'm astounded.
10/10
And to wrap up my over-all feelings on Barry... honestly, this show doesn't really have any major missteps. The things I didn't love about it where personal preference things, mostly around the actual treatment of Hollywood, which sometimes felt like the Whole Point and I was missing something, and other times felt like set dressing I couldn't quite understand. This is a show about the narrative, about how we shape the stories (and lies) we tell to ourselves and to others. I think it succeeds on every possible front when it comes to exploring that theme, and the writing is incredible, the performances brilliant. This gets pretty damn close to a perfect score from me, y'all.
9.5/10

'Wednesday' Review (no spoilers)
Well, I'm always complaining that I get too many show recommendations when everyone knows I usually just re-watch the same 5 shows or watch YouTube & I also complain a lot about binge culture & say I like to watch shows slowly but I literally watched it in one sitting so...I must've liked it! Honestly, the Tim Burton style was perfect, the dialogue was witty, & the plot was fun & addictive.
Jenna Ortega is amazing. Wednesday Addams is such an iconic & beloved character, & this show relied heavily on her demeanor & presence. So, a strong lead actress was the most important element of the show in my opinion. I honestly can't even imagine the role being pulled off more perfectly. This is only the second thing I've seen Jenna Ortega in, & she's blown me away both times. The other thing I've seen her in is Scream 5, & as a huge Scream fan, I would argue that she made that movie what it was with her performance too - & that was a very different character. Clearly, she's just a fantastic actress with a huge range & an amazing screen presence.
Also, most of the rest of the cast did a fantastic job too. Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan (I had to Google both those names, but Enid & Tyler) both had fantastic chemistry with Jenna Ortega & so did Joy Sunday (Bianca) (yes I had to Google that too) both as a rival & frienemy. I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way but just to be honest as I think back on the series, my biggest criticism is that Percy Hynes White (Xavier) just had no charm or chemistry with the lead. The actor can hardly be blamed entirely for that, though I do think either he's part of the problem or the way he was directed is. But really, the issue with Xavier was mainly a writing problem for me, because I just found his character way too bland & that's a pretty huge weakness in a show where so much of the plot relies on this sort of love triangle. Like, I need to either hate one of the guys or struggle with who to root for or something but Xavier just gave me nothing. He had no personality or interiority as a character outside of pining after Wednesday & sometimes being sus like....literally just nothing going on with him to make him feel like a real person & give me something to latch onto as a viewer.
I thought that the rest of the family had the perfect amount of screen presence for a show focused on Wednesday going off on her own where her family is still important to the plot & to her character. They did a really great job playing that balancing act. My biggest criticism of the family aspect of the show is that Morticia's wig made me want to die. Everything else - the backstory, the plot itself, was fantastic. And I loved Fester & Thing's roles both so much as well as the element of Wednesday being protective of Pugsly. The dynamic between Wednesday & Morticia is well done & explored, & I like that they gave them a little tension & how the story used it. Gomez Addams continues to be an iconic character in every incarnation.
The mystery itself was fun, although I think maaaybe it's possible they introduced a few too many elements? This is a cursory "I literally just watched it" review, so maybe not, but it felt like there was just a LOT going on & it could sometimes be a bit much to keep up with. That said, the show is clever. It's not just witty dialogue, it's a detailed & smart mystery plot, overall. I had at least part of it - not solved, but figured out (I knew something was off with a certain character because of clues) I should say - very early on. And I did solve at least part of the mystery well before any of the characters. I think this is a sign of strong writing because a good mystery should be giving you clues early on to figure things out, so this is meant as praise.
I think that it was a very fun & satisfying show. It's 100% worth checking out if you like acerbic humor. The directing style almost reminded me a bit of Wes Anderson. The general pace & dialogue & style reminded me of 'A Series of Unfortunate Events.' I thought it was a super fun show & I hope it gets a season 2, which it's definitely set up for. But, either way, it was a fantastic ride & I had a great time.

My Thoughts on the Mario Movie
I just opened this blog and I'm stuck bored at the laundromat, so now seems like a great time to ramble. Will be getting into spoiler territory.
Just to give background, I literally grew up on this franchise. SMB3 was the first game I ever beat. My favorite cartoon was The Super Mario Bros. Super Show (if you can't tell by the blog URL). I started to write at 9 years old after stumbling onto a Mario fansite and being inspired. This was my introduction to fandom.
When I initially saw the movie, I had mixed feelings. I was floored when they acknowledged and even expanded upon the original story of how the brothers made it to the Mushroom Kingdom. Yes, they're just some guys from the real world, that's the point! They're just some guys!
For the negatives: The pacing is awful. They don't take long enough to pause on any one moment or expand on any point made. They immediately jump to the next thing each time. My boy Luigi barely got any screen time. The voice acting wasn't bad, but it wasn't great (but I can look past that). I'm still not a fan of the final fight taking place in Brooklyn because then that raises a lot of questions that aren't answered (How do the citizens of Earth react to a massive turtle dragon attacking the city??? Did this get news coverage??? Are we just handwaving this??? What????).
As for the positives on my initial viewing: Loved Bowser. They nailed his personality. I knew they would the moment they announced that Jack Black would be voicing him. I loved every moment he was on screen. Zero complaints. The casting of Charlie Day as Luigi was also perfect in my book (even if that one was more controversial for some reason?). It just... Fits. Anya-Taylor Joy needed better direction, but her voice worked well enough and you can tell she really enjoyed her role from the previews. Chris Pratt was certainly there but not as bad as I was expecting.
And the references! God. The references. The movie really looked at its older audience and said "Hey. This is for you too." (I'm hoping the blue toad with glasses was supposed to reference Toadbert, but that may have just been me hoping.)
But, as I said, my feelings were mixed.
Initially.
But then I thought about the movie more and more.
What's important in the Mario franchise is that the CORE is there. I'm not talking "giant turtle kidnap princess saved by plumber the end." I mean the brothers. It's Super Mario BROTHERS.
This was my biggest fear going into the theatre. Mario and Luigi actively care for each other in the games, first and foremost. They bicker sometimes. Luigi can get a bit jealous in some of the games. But in playing the games, it's explicitly clear: They care for each other. They'll protect each other. They'll risk their lives for each other. In the Mario&Luigi games especially, they're not afraid to comfort each other and show affection for each other. "Toxic masculinity" does not exist here.
My fear going in, especially Chris Pratt as lead, would be that this would be outright abandoned. This movie was produced here in the USA, and us USAmericans tend to be HIGHLY touch-averse, to the point of it being cultural taboo. It would have been far too easy for them to ignore or change their relationship to the more 'typical' depiction you see of brothers in media.
But.... no.
THEY NAILED IT. ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT!
The most important part of the series! THEY NAILED IT!!!
Mario and Luigi's interactions are PERFECT in the movie! That's them! As they should be! Constantly reassuring each other before they're separated! Mario standing up for and protecting Luigi since they were kids! Luigi insisting that Mario isn't bringing him down like their dad says! When they reunite! THE FOREHEAD TOUCH! They're on the verge of tears! They only care that the other is safe even though they're in the middle of a massive battle!
The pacing is awful. The voice acting is okay. I still don't like the final battle taking place in Brooklyn without showing consequences. But in the end, that doesn't actually matter to me! This is going to be an introduction to the franchise for so many people! So many new fans, so many kids, so many people who will grow to love it as I do, and the most important part is THERE! The movie is far from perfect, but that doesn't matter to me as much now!
Hopefully we get more of the brothers in the next movie (There's DEFINITELY a next movie). I am actively excited for what the first movie brought and can't wait to see it expanded. It's perfect for what it needed to be.
(Also Donkey Kong's "WELL YOUR DAD'S RIGHT" is the funniest subversion of that trope I've ever seen and had me in tears in the theater, gotta give credit where credit is due.)

Finished first playthrough of The Quarry with my sis and bro-in-law.
When I originally played (and loved) Until Dawn, I knew what I wanted was another story like it with a new cast and more choice and nuance and variables to play with. The Dark Pictures Anthology didn’t really feel like it achieved this, with smaller, more compact stories that have overall just been a bit less compelling somehow (not helped by how many of them have ‘twist’ endings that just undercut all the spoopiness completely . . . ).
The Quarry, however, definitely delivered. Not all the choices determine whether or not the cast live or die; a lot of them just affect the way it plays out, or the relationships between the characters. You can encourage romances, rivalries, arguments, friendships etc. and it all helps shape the feel of ‘your’ playthrough. And you get to see some classic horror names like Ted Raimi and David Arquette in new roles!
UD had a great story, and The Quarry . . . is also really fun :3 Despite the mystery of WHAT being relatively easy to figure out early on, the HOWs and WHYs weren’t obvious and materialised over time at a good narrative pace. Being adults with lives, me and my family ended up playing this over 2.5 separated sessions but we were always itching to get back to it and see what happens.
(Time being of the utmost importance whenever my sister is involved, since she is medically unable to resist the urge to google and spoil herself if kept waiting too long to find out what happens xP)
We ultimately lost 2 of the main cast - Jacob, who was one of my 2 least favourite characters so I didn’t bemoan too much, but also Kaitlyn whom i DID like and appeared to lose due to a responsiveness issue with a critical QTE, which I absolutely swore about >:[
I don’t expect to like every character in a horror movie story like this, but some I thought I would really dislike ended up growing on me a lot. Dylan ended up becoming my low-key fave and HE survived (mostly >_>’ ) so that’s the important thing :3 Ryan was also a star boy.
We may try for a ‘perfect’ replay, time permitting (so probably not Dx but if not, I may do it solo!). The main game complaints I had were:
- The camera is so close to the character’s head at some points in the game play sections that you literally cannot see what the fuck you are doing or where you are going, or where there even IS to go. Hidden secrets = good. Secrets you can’t find because you can’t see ANYTHING = shit. I don’t know if the intention was to create claustrophobia but it didn’t; it just meant I COULDN’T SEE SHIT.
- Some of the environments were so dark with no character-held light source that, again, you could not see shit. Pitch black environments are not fun to explore, end of.
- How annoying it is to be afraid to explore in the ‘wrong’ direction in case you accidentally progress the plot. In a small number of scenes, they let you explicitly choose when to move on, but a lot of the times, clicking the wrong thing would just mean missing out on stuff.
- The ending approach (not our specific ending that we achieved, just in general) sucked. The ‘epilogue’ just gives you a character card for each character saying whether they lived or died, and a line about their ongoing circumstances if they lived. Then we jump to a really long, annoying, boring faux podcast about the whole thing that plays over the credits depending on how much evidence you collected. And that’s it! We spent all that time choosing not just the actions of the cast, but also how they interacted with each other, the relationships they built with each other. We don’t even get to find out how they reacted to each other’s fates? Or what happens to them immediately afterwards a la the interviews at the end of Until Dawn? HUGE letdown. Game devs i am once again begging you to please give us emotional and not just mechanical/functional payoff.
Regardless of their flaws, Supermassive’s horror games remain one of my big recommendations for couch-co-op fun/scares. Although not everyone in the room can ‘play’ (the later games do have some multiplayer options we haven’t tried to be fair because the single player format works for us), everyone can participate in the decision-making and everyone can jump at the jump scares and everyone can cry when we screw up a QTE, and it’s just a great time xD Think of it like an interactive horror movie so with all the added stress of knowing you’re responsible for who lives and who dies. Wholesome family content!

Let me start off this review by saying I think may be my film of the year (definitely between this and Banshees of Inisherin). What is puzzling is that this never got a true wide release. At most, it showed in around 600 theaters. For reference, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever played in over 4,300 theaters. A filmmaker as famous as Spielberg probably deserved more showtimes, but audiences are not flocking to non-franchise films.
The Fabelmans is an autobiographical look at Steven Spielberg’s life, from his introduction to filmmaking, to his family dynamic and how he got to the inspiration of why so many of his films include broken families and missing fathers.
The immediate draw is his love of cinema. It it what was sold about the movie. And we explore every aspect from Sammy (as Steven) getting his first camera to being tasked with directing his high school’s beach day. Filmmaking is the entry point, but it leads you to the deeper theme.
That theme is the dissolution of marriage and learning to cope with a fracturing family. Real-life Steven created this film as a way to sympathize with his father (Burt in the film), while his character and the film itself sided so firmly with his mother (Mitzi). This obviously came from a realization later in life of the sacrifices his father made and the burdens he had to shoulder.
This is, I guess, where I get into spoilers.
Mitzi fell in love with Burt’s best friend, Benny, who the kids call Uncle. Benny is played by Seth Rogen and I suppose this is a good time to start talking about performances.
Seth Rogen as Benny: I have heard people say and thought to myself while I was watching this in theaters that this is literally just Seth Rogen. He never becomes the character. It’s like when you’re playing a video game and it goes to a cutscene and your character looks wildly different from anyone else around. What really takes you out is when he does his trademark laugh. I wanted to like him and I think an actor like him was a good casting choice, but not Rogen specifically.
Michelle Williams as Mitzi: She is eccentric, quirky, a wild spirit and is a perfect foil to Paul Dano’s Burt. She has an artist’s heart and loves to create and explore. She just wants to have fun and play things dangerously, this is what draws her away from Burt and to Benny. Benny is the class clown who doesn’t take anything too seriously. He is the less stable of the two men, but that is not what Mitzi is after. Williams puts on a performance that excels in balancing the love she feels for her kid, her husband, and what she truly wants from her life.
Paul Dano as Burt: Paul Dano is one of my favorite actors and his ability to command the screen while not being boisterous is top tier. He can mold into any role. The Fabelmans is no different. As believable as he was as the Riddler in The Batman, he is just as believable as Sammy’s father. The entire emotional arc hinges on Dano’s ability and he does not disappoint. He has to become the bad guy of the family, but because Spielberg has become sympathetic to his family’s situation, he does not come across as evil and is not shown in a bad light. While Sammy’s parent’s divorce was the result of Mitzi, Burt took the blame out of the love he felt for his wife.
Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy: Steven Spielberg himself. I can’t imagine the weight he had to carry playing arguably the most famous director alive. There was an authenticity from the actor and honestly this whole film hinged on it. Sammy had to be conflicted about his ability, his social standing, and his religion. He had to balance out his parents, his sisters, and Uncle Benny. He was sufficiently awkward and a genius filmmaker by high school (the special effects for the war film were a stroke of creativity that I don’t think I could conjure in my lifetime).
This was the best film of the year and I feel like nobody has seen it. The Fabelmans has so far been a box office bomb and the death of original filmmaking continues. It is nearly impossible for a non-IP like Top Gun or Marvel to do well that has a $50-$100 million budget and even then Black Adam was a box office flop, but DC feels like an outlier for big studio performances.
The man who made E.T, Close Encounter, Jurassic Park, on and on, could not release a successful film about his life. To me, that is incredibly sad and concerns me for the future of theatrical releases. I adored everything about this movie and it was perfect. Please go see it if you can.
Rating: 5/5
Would I Recommend? With my whole chest.

"Wow..."
That was all he could muster at every display she showed, jaw open a massive smile as butterflies flittered around him momentarily. Was she an angel? Look at the water! Stars! It's like she came from heaven all on her own! Stars were one of his favorite designs, and while he'd never openly admit it, even his boxers were designed that way. Star shapes all over them.
Did that make him childish?
It took him a moment to register that she was asking him a question. Danny was, quite literally, star struck with her regal beauty. He almost found himself bashful, she was so astounding, and here he was, just a simple cat. Well, that's how he felt about himself. While famous, he still felt like a simple farm cat.
Just an enormously wealthy, and popular one.
But that money went back home, or to charities that he knew would use the money properly. Funding research into incurable diseases, that was very important to him. For... reasons... that he generally didn't tell other people. It was a bit of a downer, and he didn't want to bring the mood down. His apartment was only two bedrooms, and only one kitchen, and living space.
Not what you'd expect from a movie star.
Tumblr media
"Oh, me?"
A chuckle.
"Well I can't do anything even remotely close to the amazing things you do. I grew up on a farm, but I specialize in musicals! I'm trying to branch out, I've been in roles with no musical numbers at all. And I'm learning a little bit about directing, both picture and sound. I find everything about the movie business interesting."
He quickly moves to catch up with her, before it becomes a standard walk again.
"I've been singing and dancing since I was a kitten. Even during chores, like watering the plants, I'd dance around with the watering can, haha."
Danny wasn't one to take such an inviting gesture lightly. He loved the chance to show off, not as a boastful measure. He was extremely self confident in his ability. So he did exactly that. He began singing an aria, while simultaneously dancing in a fashion that could only be described as 'organized chaos'.
His voice never wavered, on perfect pitch, despite the show of athleticism. His steps were perfect. Not a single mistake in anything he did, and this was all improv! When he was finished, he wasn't even gasping. He was that athletic, and nimble, despite is incredibly slender frame.
Tumblr media
Then he tips his hat.
"How was that?"
Tumblr media
"I don't really enjoy coffee myself either. I prefer to blend teas because of how gentle they can be." Charlotte hurried to keep up with him, taking a few larger steps over some puddles that were in her path, "I'm also just not confident in my coffee brewing abilities save some basic popular blends."
She was admittedly relieved he wasn't really on any sort of curfew or time crunch at the moment. Hurrying away too fast really wasn't an option for the rest of the night either. Small tricks, however, were still something she could muster. The only trouble to it was how to not make it an entire Pandora's Box. She was also paying attention to his reactions and body language just obviously enough so he knew.
As she gave Danny a little nod to his insight about hiding such abilities, she skipped a few of her steps with a certain weightlessness that had her lingering in the air between each click of her heels. Showing a bit of it was easier than entirely explaining it, and it was easy to keep this little trick subtle with what energy she had left, "Well, since you're asking: I can ignore gravity some; even fly under more usual circumstances."
There was a little pause in her movements as she made a pair of small constellation butterflies in the palm of her hand, "I can also make these little ones. I use them for a lot of different tasks."
Letting the butterflies flit away from her to circle him, she took a few skipping steps ahead of him. All of this was to land deceptively on the surface of a puddle, only making the the surface ripple, as she gave him a bit of a theatric bow. Interestingly she also did something else to the surface, causing the water to instead reflect back a vibrant starscape like the wings of the butterflies.
All in all an easier trick to do with her magic that didn't have her trying to push away the lingering smog above. Also less exhausting as it only required her making contact with the water surface. She also did it because she caught his little lingering look to the sky before.
"Ah, I've also been told my cooking and baking is "out of this world"...According to some customers, that is." Charlotte had regained a bit of her confidence with him now, as her tail started to sway in a more slow and playful way, "But what about you, Danny? I get that you're in the biz, but I'd love to know what you really glow at for it."
She gave him an inviting gesture for him to show off if he wanted to.

TROUBLE
Austin butler x reader
request : “Smut where y/n accidentally gives Austin a boner during filming and it is impossible to hide literally leaving nothing to the imagination in his tight leather pants and baz has to call cut and tell him he better go sort himself out. To say the least Austin is so embarrassed and is trying his hardest (excuse the pun) to cover himself because he might as well just have no pants on the amount of detail you can see. Maybe y/n goes to help ease his embarrassment and problem. 😉” - @cchl
a/n: i have no idea why i love this concept so much but i do. enjoy <3 austin has black hair in this because it just makes sense. twisted it around just a smidge but i hope it’s to your liking, dove !
warnings : pure smut, dom!Austin x sub!reader. mentions of daddy kink, dirty talk, use of pet names. fem!reader.

🝮
The Elvis movie production has been doing fairly well; Austin had been ripping through his lines and singing his heart out by now. You couldn’t help but be proud of your long-term boyfriend as you watched him become engulfed with his role as he’s done countless times before. Baz knew what he had been doing with casting Austin for the Elvis role, but you weren’t thinking of it in the way that he was. A chance to see your boyfriend in the most lavish of replica Elvis outfits, tight but still so loose. Being on set with him every time because he insisted you were his good luck charm was definitely paying off.
You had been helping Baz around set all day, something he suggested you’d do instead of sitting in Austin’s chair bored out of your mind all day. It took a while for you to actually spot Austin due to constantly running around, another hour going by until you finally had a break. He started filming the ‘68 comeback special when you finally notice why Austin had been in the dressing room for hours on end. You practically gawked at the god in front of you, already being ordered around with places he would stand and how loud to sing. God, you could stare at that man all day when he was dressed as Elvis.
“Earth to Y/N? I asked you to go fix his hair.” Baz had spoken up, waving a steady hand in your face making your boyfriend chuckle in your direction. He knew what these outfits did to you, you made the mistake of telling him and you knew just exactly what he’d been thinking.
“Yeah. I’ll go just- do that right now.” You stammered, making your way over to where he had been standing and getting on your toes to make that one stray hair fall into place and back into his gelled quif of hair. In your haste, you managed to drop the hairspray bottle and in a hurry to pick it up, you bent down in front of him, making the black dress skirt you’ve been wearing to snake up your waist giving him a perfect view of your ass just about. And the fact you hadn’t been wearing any sort of underwear underneath. Something you had no idea about, you were too much in a rush to get ready for the day to think apparently.
You sighed with relief as you finally got the bottle only to be met with lust filled blue eyes as soon as you met his height again. You furrowed your eyebrows, oblivious to the fact that you’ve just given him a show.
“Princess, don’t move.” He warned, grasping onto your wrist. You had no idea why but as your eyes trailed down to his hips, you realized what you had just did making a pink tinted blush arise to your cheeks. You did as he told you, trying to scramble and think of an excuse to get him alone in that moment.
“What’s taking so long?!” The stage manager had called out to you two who both sported rosy cheeks with sheer embarrassment.
You tried to speak but Austin squeezed your wrist tighter signaling for you to let him handle it. You were far too flustered to come up with any words other than gibberish and he knew that. “Mind if we take a little five? Don’t feel good.” He practically blurted out, not waiting for any sort of confirmation back before pulling you into his dressing room and locking the door behind him.
“Jesus Christ, baby. Why aren’t you wearing any underwear?” His eyebrows furrowed this time, holding your wrist still and used it to pin your arm against the door above your head. Your eyes went wide, you now understood why he had gotten so worked up.
You and Austin had a pretty healthy sex life to say the least, it was really the only way he could settle down after a long day on set and you always happily obliged. You wouldn’t be surprised if in your hurry to put on clean clothes if you had just forgotten. “I-I must’ve forgotten. I’m sorry, daddy. I didn’t mean to-.” He didn’t let you ramble on any further before he crashed his lips into yours, ripping the buttons of your dress shirt so he could throw it on the floor in a hurry. He didn’t care if you didn’t have any clothes to go back out there with, he wanted you and wasn’t letting you get away.
“You can never get enough of daddy’s cock, can you baby? Have to tease me at work like this.” He whispered lowly in your ear, his voice still leaking with that southern twang that he couldn’t shake away for the life of him. You definitely weren’t complaining. His hand slowly snaked up your thigh, a finger dipping into your glistened folds making him grunt at the touch. “Good girl.” He spoke in a lower whisper against the shell of your ear, his free fingers fumbling with the zipper to your skirt, letting the material fall to the floor.
With just as much ease, your bra hit the floor in no time, leaving you exposed while his suit had still been on, his print now too prominent to ignore. He took your chin in his hand, tilting it up ever so slightly so you were looking up at him as he rubbed your skin with his thumb. “Here’s what you’re gonna do, baby. We don’t have much time so you’re gonna be a good girl and take what i give you, yeah?” He softly spoke, your head nodding almost right away, so entranced with your boyfriend to care if anyone heard. He was too pretty like this to resist or even try to push him off.
You watched with eager eyes as he unzipped the suit, revealing a sight you could never get tired of. His boxers had followed suit not long after, falling to the floor to reveal him fully erect. He snapped his fingers, pointing at the floor in front of him before you even got the chance to take him in. You dropped down to your knees in front of him, earning a chuckle from above as Austin admired how much of his spell you were under to follow his every command without any question.
“Open, pretty girl..” He muttered above you, running his thumb along your bottom lip opening your mouth for you before you could even act. You leaned forward, taking his tip in your mouth, looking up at him through your eyelashes to see if you had the permission to go further. With a simple nod, your tongue started to twirl around his tip, your hand coming up to wrap around him to help keep him in place.
He groaned from above you, dipping his fingers in your hair to keep any pieces from falling onto your face and ruining his view. You continued your movements down further until he hit the back of your throat, forcing your hand down to lay on your thigh. “Doing so good for me.” He trailed off into a moan as you managed to take all of him in your mouth without any ounce of hesitation.
You began to bob your head up and down, hallowing your lips out as you stuck your tongue out so he’d get as much stimulation as you could. He never understood how you got so good without very little of his guidance since you had been a virgin before he met you but he definitely wasn’t complaining or in the mood to question it.
Before he let your movements go any further, he tapped your chin for you to open your mouth, letting him go with a pop. A strand of your own drool dripped down your chin, your lips red from the very little time you were down on the floor, Austin knew he couldn’t resist you any longer in that moment.
“Up.” He ordered, you got up instantly and didn’t regret it as he bent you over the small couch that was in the room, tapping your legs open slightly to gain him more access. His one hand rested against the headrest of the couch, his other lining himself up between your folds, pushing himself in with ease. He moaned as you instantly tightened around him as he started to thrust his hips slowly. You whimpered at the pace, wanting more, needing more of him and he knew it. That’s why he hasn’t given into his urges just yet, he loved teasing you every waking moment he got.
Within mere seconds, his pace quickened, making sure he was deeper into you with every quickened thrust. You were a whining mess for him at that point, just the way he liked you as filthy moans slipped past your lips. It didn’t take you much to fall apart as his hips became more violent, your fists white with how much you had been squeezing the side of the couch. You tightened around him again and he knew that you were close.
“Taking me so well, princess.” He leaned down to whisper in your ear before bunching up your hair and forcing your body up against his chest as his thrusts got way more brutal to the point that he had been pounding into you at that point in time. His hand snaked around your body to toy with your clit making you gasp before his other hand cover your mouth from the loud sound coming out.
“Cmon, darling. Cum for me.” He snarled in your ear, pressing a finger into your clit. That was just enough to do you in, releasing yourself all over him earning a rewarding chuckle from behind you. He hadn’t been far behind you, ramming himself into you one last time before letting himself go, making sure you felt it as he came in you for the first time making your whole body tense.
With a few slow thrusts, he finally pulled out, wiping the sweat from your forehead with a smirk. “Thanks for the motivation, baby.” Was all he spoke, a light kiss to your forehead following as he scrambled to get ready and meet Baz once again on set.
You definitely were teasing him on set again tomorrow. You had to for your sanity in the next year to come.

okay! natsume dub thoughts now that s1 has finished airing:
this is a mess and i love it.
i have no clue what the dub director was doing. this is a shitshow.
i cannot hate it because it is natsume and it is still entertaining but. *gestures at it*
i will never take this dub seriously and it will be the subject of my mocking for years to come probably
ALSO can they PLEASE release a full cast list i want to know who is voicing who. we only know the vas that appear in episode one 😭
okay individual va thoughts:
natsume: i didn’t like this va for him at first but he’s come a long way over the course of s1 and i’m looking forward to seeing his performance over the next five seasons and hopefully the movies too. overall i think he did a good job!! but this will always be yuki from tsuritama’s voice. i literally cannot stop thinking abt yuki from tsuritama when he speaks.
baby natsume: i think this va did a good job but there’s not many baby natsume scenes in s1… s4 is the real test with the childhood home arc.
nyanko-sensei: my absolute favourite casting choice. that is nyanko-sensei/master kitty cat. i also loved his progression over the course of this season there is a clear difference in performance between episode 1 and episode 13
cat girl nyanko-sensei: she barely appeared but i like her voice
reiko: same as above. i think her va fit her well.
nishimura: barely appeared but i think he did a good job
kitamoto: same as above.
sasada: i love her va it is perfect for her.
touko: i’m sorry i really wanted to like this casting choice 😭 i know her va was excited for this role but it’s so. i have no clue what directions she was given she started out okay then progressed to the fakest old lady voice i’ve ever heard and then in episode 13 it was a more believable old lady voice but i hated it more. but i’m trying to be nice. 😭
shigeru: he barely appeared 😭 but i like his va more than touko’s
tanuma: LEAST FAVOURITE i literally hate it so much that is not my friend tanuma kaname. that is a completely different person and i’m so mad. it is so entertaining though. but i’m so mad. i laugh every time he speaks. it is so bad.
natori: i Love this voice it sounds like an off-brand j michael tatum and it’s so funny. it’s exactly what i have been joking about for years when talking abt a hypothetical english dub. i am so happy with this. it’s so entertaining. his deliveries are really off but again. it is so entertaining to me.
hiiragi: hiiragi my BELOVED i love her voice. i can’t wait for her to appear in later episodes the moon-splitting festival arc will be so fun.
urihime: had like. two lines. she was fine 😭
sasago: same as above. i probably won’t be able to judge either of their performances until s6 takuma arc gets dubbed.
fox child: technically a recurring character and i love his voice. it’s so cute. excited to see him again in s3 :)
hinoe: yes!!!! she sounds so obnoxious and i love it
misuzu: his voice fits but i have no other opinions
the midrank youkai: they’re fine but they will never be the japanese vas.
