First Look: The Praga Bohema
Praga has revealed its road legal hypercar in pre-production prototype form: a high-performance, low-volume car designed around 3 core principles – lightweight, carbon, petrol.
The new Praga Bohema is a sub-1,000kg, mid-engined 2-seater that, in the right hands, is capable of extreme high performance on track targeting GT3 race car lap times on its semi-slick Pirellis. Yet it is also comfortable and practical for head-turning road trips.
With its carbon fibre monocoque and race-oriented fully adjustable suspension, it is extremely light, targeting just 982 kgs (wet without fuel), while its powerful Nissan GT-R-derived six-cylinder twin-turbo engine ensures reliability, ease of servicing and the potential for further performance tuning. Whilst the Bohema’s race-derived semi-automatic transmission will support a unique on-road experience with track-focused performance.
The Praga Bohema’s PL38DETT is based on Nissan’s famed 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine used in all its GT-R models since 2007. Initially drawing on Nissan’s experience at Le Mans, it is constructed around an aluminium alloy cylinder block, and there are double overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, with a continuously variable valve timing system on the inlet valves.
Uniquely, Nissan supplies brand new GT-R engines to Praga for the Bohema. Engine development and servicing requirements then sees Praga working with the UK’s renowned Litchfield Engineering; another long-time friend of the Praga brand. Litchfield has more than two decades of tuning experience and is known as the global authority on GT-R engines. Litchfield strips the new engines and converts them to dry sump, which reduces the overall height of the unit by 140 mm. This allows the engine to sit lower in the Bohema and prevents the risks of oil surge under high-speed cornering loads.
Litchfield also makes a number of modifications for increased reliability and power, including swapping to new twin turbos. In this base-Litchfield specification, Praga is targeting the Bohema production car to deliver up to 700 bhp at 6,800 rpm and 725 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm, but Litchfield is known for building 1000 bhp-plus engines from the GT-R unit.
Praga has a long-standing partnership with Kresta Racing, the Czech Republic’s most highly respected rally team, where its spotless assembly facility will hand-build each Bohema, beginning in the first half of 2023. The company is known for its high standards of car preparation and assembly and was founded by Czech rally legend Roman Kresta. His historic race victories include the Czech national rally championship on five occasions, whilst also spending a decade in the World Rally Championship, driving for the official Ford and Skoda WRC teams.

Some Best Types of Gravel for Driveways
First and foremost, proper material choice is crucial when it comes to the stability and drainage of gravel driveways. Most driveways depend on three kinds of gravel set on top of one another to function properly. These include river rock, dense grade, and pea gravel. Let us dive further into each option through investigating the history of gravel right here!
River Rock
River rock remains very popular. It looks very natural and its texture is rather smooth. The water flowing over them wears them down, thus the completed item is smooth, attractive rock. However, river rock is easily moved and does not hold up to steep slopes or sharp curves.
River rock prices are different depending on location and availability; thus, it pays to shop around in order to get the best deal possible. It is also often used for landscaping, fire pits, and erosion control.
Dense Grade or Processed Stone
Dense grade is also called crusher run or road stone. This is a combination of crushed stone and stone dust. When compacted, it becomes rock solid, and fairly durable. Although not as handsome, this is a very functional choice for a base.
On the other hand, it does not fare well when it comes to wet-weather driveways since the stone does not facilitate drainage. Prices in Connecticut will vary depending on your location, in relation to quarries and market demand.
Pea Gravel
Pea gravel is another of the most popular driveway materials. It basically includes small, smooth, naturally weathered stones in several colors. Unlike river rock, pea gravel doesn't shift as much under the weight of a vehicle and thus is a little more stable once installed on a driveway. It allows a lot better drainage than its river pea gravel cousins and seems to work well on areas prone to heavy rainfall.
Crushed Pea Gravel and River Pea Gravel
Crushed pea gravel is meant for those looking to have a cheap substitute for traditional river rock. This gravel is angular in shape, hence it interlocks way better compared to your typical pea gravel. It is cheaper compared to river rock, hence practical for most Litchfield County homeowners seeking a very stable driveway surface.
Gravel Size and Application
The size of gravel you need would wholly depend on the nature and type of your project. Gravel is available in sizes, its size based on the number but in reverse. The bigger the number, the smaller the size of the gravel. Certain common sizes include #57s, which are roughly the size of a quarter, and #89s, which are far finer.
youtube
Video Explaining Gravel's Various Sizes and Applications
Even larger stones become useful for when the area is a construction entrance or a road base. A proper gravel driveway installation needs to be prepared on the site, and this involves removing the topsoil-the hardpan beneath it used as the base for long-term stability.
Clean Gravel vs. Minus Gravel: Key Differences
Clean gravel products are thoroughly washed to eliminate fines, that are microscopic particles which could result in compaction issues in some uses. Because of the washing process, clean gravel is usually a bit more expensive. Clean gravel works well for drainage systems like French drains, house footing drains, curtain drains and sub-surface drainage for driveways, roadways and parking lots.
On the other hand, minus gravel does contain fines, which help it have a higher compaction rate; in the end, that would make it better for driveways or roads where one needs a solid compacted base. The smaller size of particles allows filling gaps, and they can compact as high as 96% engineered.
Gravel Size Guide for Driveways and Road Construction
Gravel is usually under 2-1/2 inches in diameter. Gravel sizes are generated by their "Size No." or "Size #," referring to grading or screening of the gravel. The smaller the Size #, the larger the gravel, while the bigger the number is, the finer the particles.
For example, a combination like #57s contains a mixture of a variety of gravel sizes including #5, #6, and #7. These combined sizes enable a multitude of uses due to the varied sizes contained within the mixture. Below is a list of some common sizes and their uses:
Baby Surge (1/4" minus) 5/8" minus 3/4" clean 1-1/4" minus 1-1/4" clean 2" minus 2" clean 2-4" quarry spalls 4-8" quarry spalls
Selecting the Correct Gravel for Your Specific Project
The longevity and functionality of your driveway or road project depends on choosing the right size and type of gravel. Smaller rocks are best used for surface layers and walkways while the larger stones work as load bearers such as in driveways and parking lots.
Preparation of the Site for Gravel Driveways
Proper preparation of your building site in New Haven County is necessary before you install gravel. First, you will have to remove the topsoil, which is high in organic matter and quite unsuitable to form a foundation for a driveway because it is unstable. Immediately below the topsoil is the hardpan, a real dense layer that forms a very solid foundation upon which your gravel driveway can rest on!
Otherwise, this would lead to an unstable driveway that eventually would be rutted or even develop sinkholes. Always make sure the excavation is just right through a refined step-by-step process, and the land is leveled well before laying down gravel so that problems in the future are avoided.
Questions and Answers Section (Q&A)
Q: How Much Gravel Do I Need?
A: To find out how much gravel you will need for your project, either take a simple formula approach or use one of many online calculators. Gravel can vary in weight from 2,400 to 2,900 pounds per cubic yard, but on average, it weighs 2,700 pounds, which is 1.35 tons of regular or building gravel. A ton of gravel may be enough for around 80-100 square feet with a depth of 2 inches and 40-50 square feet at a depth of 4 inches.
For purposes of estimation for a driveway assume an average width of 8 to 10 feet. If the driveway is over 100 feet in length then it is assumed that at least one dump truck load of gravel will be required. Projects range from single tons up into the thousands and we can deliver quantity needed.
Q: What Is Landscape River Rock?
A: These river rocks are ideal for landscaping, including but not limited to water features, rock gardens, and walls, and are 3 to 6 inches in size. Their cream, caramel, and grey hues bring a more natural aspect to designs. These rocks are very functional and have many uses in improving drainage, preventing erosion, and making decorative borders.
If you're searching for river rocks to add into your landscaping project or for edging a driveway or parking lot area at your professional building, call or Contact VP Asphalt Paving today for your FREE No Obligation Estimate, to directly place your order or become informed about our other available options.
Q: How to Choose the Easiest Gravel to Walk On?
A: For walkways, pea gravel is the best option because it has small, rounded stones with a stable surface and decently smooth. The water is drained out easily unlike larger gravel that can't be comfortable underfoot and doesn't shift much. This type of gravel is ideal to use on pathways.
Q: Should You Put Landscape Fabric Under Pea Gravel?
A: Although not necessarily, you can place a barrier of geotextile landscape fabric underneath the pea gravel to prevent contamination of dirt and the growth of weeds. Whether you want to use fabric or not, it is highly recommended that you give the gravel an extra minimum of 2 inches in depth for stability; with fabric, you're assuring a longer lifespan and a more beautiful gravel surface.
Q: How Many Tons of Gravel Do I Need Per Required Square Footage?
A: One dump truck load is about 18 tons, and it will resupply a 200-foot driveway on average. For a better estimate, multiply the length times the width times the depth of your driveway in feet, divide by 27 to give you cubic yards, then multiply by 1.35 to get the tons of gravel required.
Q: What is the average cost per ton of gravel and asphalt for residential driveways?
A: Gravel typically costs between $15 to $30 per ton, depending on the type and quality of the material. Asphalt, on the other hand, costs more—around $100 to $150 per ton, with hot-mix asphalt being a common choice.
For a standard residential driveway, the overall cost difference between using gravel versus asphalt depends on the size of the project, but asphalt tends to be significantly higher due to the material and labor required. Learn more about us Today!
Q: How much does it cost per square foot to pave a commercial parking lot with gravel versus asphalt?
A: Paving a and installing a commercial parking lot with gravel costs approximately $2.50 to $3.50 per square foot, including material and labor. Asphalt, however, ranges from $4 to $8 per square foot, for a complete installation which includes all labor and materials and proper permits and insurance requirements put forth by local building, wetlands/inlands boards and zoning officials.
Q: What Are The Average Gravel Prices Per Ton Delivered to My Job Site?
Gravel prices can range from $10 to $50 per ton, $18 to $85 per cubic yard, or $1,575 per truck load depending on the rock type and travel distance throughout the State of Connecticut.

Tuesday 6 September 1831
6 3/..
12 5/..
My cousin came on getting up
Fahrenheit 66˚ and thickish fine autumn morning at 7 – settled with Cordingley and George - breakfast at 7 3/4 – talking to my father, and waited near 1/4 hour for him – took him in the carriage and off to Halifax –
Got to Mr Parker’s at 10 1/2 – had in 1st Mr Charles Robinson, Washington thinks the draining will cost £20 – Mr Parker read aloud his lease – executed – signed by both parties – then came the other messers Robinson father and sons Thomas and George – the mill had been given up this morning and the partnership dissolved I suppose just now, at Mr Parker’s office – said what I had said before to Thomas Robinson when he called here – George Robinson to be the tenant the rent to be £100 instead of £50 per annum – a strict running lease from year to year, but would make no difficulties – no objections to any agreement among themselves – should be happy to do anything to serve them all – the new lease to be dated 10 November next – wished to do everything that was honourable – no advantage should be taken of the giving up of the mill before the time – Old Robinson at last so satisfied, that he held out his hand, and, on my going away (at 12) shook mine, and said ‘Honour – You’ve nothing but honour’ – thank you, said I, that’s all I wish –
Left my father to walk home and drove to the bank – Mr Rawson unluckily just gone out – desired Thwaite to give my compliments and say I was going very early on Monday morning and begged him to hurry the mans (Mark Wilcock) coming to beg pardon – to let me have a little notice – I wished to have Mr Sunderland if possible and one or 2 more present, and to make the thing as imposing as possible for example’s sake and all our sakes –
Then got £150 in bills and cash – called but the Saltmarshes out – then to the vicarage – Mrs Musgrave out – Sat 10 minutes with the vicar – the church to be consecrated on the 22nd instant to Saint James, neither older nor younger particularized – the deeds made out now – too late to make the older now – If Mr Musgrave thought my 2 seats would be better one seat nearer to the pulpit, begged him to change them for I had just been at Whitley’s and he had mentioned the possibility of them being better a bit-farther from the Sunday school children – hoped Mr Musgrave would occasionally call on my aunt, and be so good as administer the sacrament to her and her maid about twice a year – he would with pleasure – very civil –
Then called on my aunt’s account on Mrs Abbot, and then on the Miss Ralphs and Mrs Briggs the banker’s wife for about 1/4 hour each, and for about 120 minutes each one Mrs William Rawson, and Mrs Veitch and Mrs Catherine Rawson all at home – and spoke to Percy the coach maker – paid for my aunt’s Bath wheel chair 8 guineas, and would take £10 for the gig (he out of the £12 he had a chance of getting for it to have £1 and George £1), the money to be paid on Saturday if as I thought his customer was inclined to agree –
Then drove to Stony Royde – Mrs Rawson much better than yesterday but had just dined and was going to lie down so did not see her – then to Wellhead at 2 3/4 – sent the horses to bait – stayed dinner – (dinner about 3 1/2) – Told Mr W- he and I always very good friends, I had made my will and left him and Mr William Priestley executors understanding that he would act, saying Mr William Priestley was a very good partner – good deal of talk about roads etc. he will come on Thursday morning to go with me to look at Godley Road and see my new foot path thro’ Wellroyde Wood –
Whether the people get an act for a rail road from Manchester to Leeds or not, our navigation will pay as it does for 4 or 5 years to come – some very knowing rich men at Todmarden think the rail road wont pay, and they wont increase their present subscriptions which are not large, and the thing cannot go on without the subscribers come forward tho’ attorneys and engineers are anxious to get the bill – the rail road from Manchester to Liverpool only pays 6 percent and it is the passengers which do that for the company loses on goods which they carry at 10/. a ton – the canal used to carry at 15/. but the rail road company began at 10/. saying that was a beginning they might lower still more - but such are the expenses of rail roads that the company is petitioning the navigation to raise the dues again for carriage per rail road at 10/. per ton does not pay – is a losing concern – thus Marian’s information of paying 14 percent is incorrect – If I wished to have anything to do with rail roads better wait till people begin to tire of the [specimen] and then buy at a discount –
Coffee on leaving the dining room and off from Wellhead at 5 55/.. the vicar and his wife and her sister Ann coming to tea – sorry I could not stay – Off to Pye nest – sat 25 minutes with Mr and Mrs Edwards – very civil – never saw Mrs Edwards more comfortably so – their son Henry gone on hurried tour to Italy with a Mr and Mrs Litchfield (heard at Haugh end he was to return by Lisbon) – then to mill house – about as long with Mrs William Henry Rawson and one of her daughters (all very glad to see me) and then to Haugh end for 35 minutes – found Mrs [Henry Priestley] and Mr Salisbury P- [Priestley] and a vulgarish friend from the South (Miss Larken) at tea – played the agreeable much more to their amusement apparently than really to my own, and at home in an hour at 9 1/4 –
Had a basin of soup – sat talking 3/4 hour tête à tête to my aunt and came to my room at 10 1/2 – very fine day – Fahrenheit 64˚ at 11 3/4 p.m. read over draft of George Robinson’s lease of the mill – counted over money etc.

Carrera S with 600HP?? 🤯 ______________________________________ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [9/1/19] With modern engines being mostly turbocharged or having some other form of assistance in one way or another, official manufacturer power figures are becoming less transparent and engine exclusivity is becoming a thing of the past as manufacturers simplify lineups by just detuning to tuning up an engine in different models…But this isn’t all a bad thing..more of a marketing hype style thing that seems to have made its way to Porsche! Check out the new 911 Carrera S for example.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🏁 @Allcarnews Spec sheet: The new Carrera S packs a 3.0L Twinturbo flat-6 making what Porsche claims to be 443HP and 390 lb-ft of torque meanwhile dyno tests show a staggering 414HP and 406 lb-ft of torque at the wheels which, with a drivetrain loss factored in, is really close to 490HP and 480 lb-ft of torque at the crank! 🏁 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Another major point here to this underrating craze taking over BMW and Audi as well, is that all these turbocharged engines are often just variants of the other and can EASILY be tuned to make more power. One main example is the 4.0L TT V8 in the AMG range. In top spec it can make a crazy 630HP but in lower end models it makes around 503HP.. Now with minor modifications that 503HP and be turned up to 600+HP ruining the feeling of exclusivity in the Automotive world…. I say this as Litchfield re calibrated the ECU on the 2020 Carrera S and got… 572HP and 480 lb-ft of torque all for just $1,460. So yes, you can nearly get a last gen Turbo S amount of power without the massive cost of the car that easy these days. ________________________________________ ACN EXTRA: What’s YOUR take on this ________________________________________ -Text by @allcarnews -Images by Porsche ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #Porsche #Flat6 #CarreraS #Carrera4s An #allcarnews post // #German #TurboS #911 #911TurboS #GT3RS #GT2RS #tuned ||#powerful #performance #turbocharged #supercharged An #allcarnews post https://www.instagram.com/p/B14P_wGhkjl/?igshid=hzvl09utjshx

Finding the Best Real Estate Agents
Real estate agents play a big role in uniting house sellers and buyers. The experience in selling or acquiring the houses depends on the selected agents. There are various real estate firms within any desired region. Efforts in finding the best agents determine the chances of getting the desired quality of services. People need to research the available options of real estate agents within their area to select the ones who have been able to meet clients' expectations. House sellers need the highest value for their houses while house buyers need to get quality houses at the lowest prices. The agents need to have negotiation skills to be able to balance the interests of the buyers and the sellers. Interacting with professionals can help determine if they have the required knowledge to offer the right services. The experience of the agents can influence the quality of services they can offer to the clients. The duration of service can influence the chances of agents to meet the needs of the house sellers and buyers. Clients should get to the websites of the agents to see the category of houses they deal with. Buyers need to specify the location in which they need to purchase the houses to guide them in finding the agents. The networking of the agents can greatly influence their performance. Wide networks provide a pool of house buyers and sellers. Agents are aware of the prevailing market prices of the houses and can best represent the interest of the clients. The agents tend to share information with other professionals in the field and are thus updated on the right legal procedures for the transfer of ownership. Using the services of Litchfield County real estate agents protect clients from being manipulated on the prices for selling or acquiring the needed houses. Real estate agents need to carry out all the processes involved in the selling or buying of the houses on behalf of their clients. Clients need to consider the compatibility of the character of the selected agents as they will need to be together during the transactions. The agents should talk with the clients to listen to their interests regarding the needed quality of houses. Agents should work within the budgets of their clients. The required commission should be a consideration when selecting the agents. The low commission allows the sellers to realize a higher value for their houses. Using real estate agents in selling or purchasing homes helps to save time for people to concentrate on their activities. People do not need to be knowledgeable of the procedures involved in selling houses as it's the responsibility of the agents. First-time buyers and sellers of houses can be guided through the procedures. Real estate agents should ensure effective websites to draw the desired levels of market attention. A higher ranking of the websites helps to attract increased traffic. House buyers and sellers prefer contacting agents whose websites appear first within the search engines as they believe in their capabilities to contact clean deals. Check out more service from Litchfield County real estate agent.

Mindo
I was grateful to have my luggage back today in order to be prepped for the excursion. I wagged the class to exchange it for a wayyyy better excursion! Truth is I wouldn’t have got the chance to go to Mindo except for this one opportunity. Plus, the people I met at lunch the day before were way too much fun to say no to. After a rocky start getting Uber up and running (due to having to cancel my credit cards) my host family helped to order the car and the driver was trying his best to be as fast as possible so I wasn’t late. Phew! The minivan was a lovely crew of 10 who introduced themselves immediately. The driver kept us informed and entertained. He explained a little about the area and rules regarding tourism. Major trades being coffee/chocolate, oil, bananas and roses.
The town Mindo is famous for butterflies, jungle, waterfalls and hummingbirds. The word mindo comes from mindolar (a messenger). Because the town is far from other areas, in history someone would have to run messengers between towns.
Flowers & Butterflies 🦋
Whoever knew that orchids had such poignant names?! Dracula, Broken Heart, Tongue of the Mother in law (cos she speaks so much 😂). I was a big fan. The guide also showed us a plant that retracts when you touch it. So eery! There are 3000+ species of orchid and this jungle has around 2000. 😱
The butterflies were extremely beautiful. I loved that the big ones were kind of friendly and dopey! The bright blue classic “morpho” species were seemingly the bullies of the enclosure, constantly fluttering past the other species and putting them off course. They barely stopped flying. Very difficult to capture on camera. They live around 100 days, so I guess they feel the need to be busy. Outside of the enclosure were the hummingbirds tempted by tall bottles of nectar and some bananas pinned to a tree! They were amazing to watch. Even the other birds around them seemed to be faster than the birds I know. Perhaps a necessity in a biodiverse jungle. I nearly walked out with a butterfly, one of the other travellers having spotted it catching a ride on my pant leg.
Following this, we took a walk in the jungle to some waterfalls via a cable car powered by a car engine. The environment reminded me a lot of Litchfield National Park in Darwin, except climbing a few stairs makes your heart race when you’re at altitude. The leaves on each tree were humongous! It was great to see some colour in the vegetation from the bromealids (colourful leaves and stems) and orchids.
We headed to the zip line that made a terrifying sound when it stopped, much like a firecracker. Sooo, I didn’t take part! But instead found a little shack making coffee from scratch on site. They served us a taste of the freshly roasted coffee both as a bean and as a drink. Amazeballs!l We had some lunch nearby - another of those massive courses! And by this point I was not well so said I’d only have soup, but no, then maybe some tea, nope, so had a half of the pint of juice they gave us😍 Alas not long after, at the point of listening to the chocolate/making process, I was at my limit and spoke the fastest Spanish I have yet “disciple donee esta el baño, estoy enfermo!” The host fortunately understood me and within seconds was at the bathroom! Felt so much better after a quick vom but it’s not the greatest being sick in a house of chocolate! Felt bad for them and was shattered I couldn’t try their testers! We headed back after this, on a never ending bus ride. I swear the driver said we’d be 20mins til our destination on about 3 occasions! And having not felt well the whole ride, it was no surprise we needed a side-road dash a couple of times. Embarrassos! Got home ok and straight to bed...for a day. Soup the next day helped but dreaming about spanish grammar kept waking me up 🙄geez brain, shut up!

“WatchMojo” Prime 10 Film Genres That Died Out (TELEVISION Episode 2018)
The past few years have been something of a golden age for music documentaries, with the Oscar-profitable success of Trying to find Sugar Man and 20 Ft From Stardom opening up the field for films about much less obvious stars. Naughty tech-home is a sense. It is what screws your face up in mock disgust when a dangerous bassline belts out the system. It's what makes you get one other round of doubles in when it is best to have been ordering an Uber. It is what reminds you the way life-affirming this whole whirlwind of a culture may be. It is the lubricant of the sesh and, undeniably, the best dance music sub-genre of all time. However it was Sheeran whose music dominated radio, digital and streaming in 2017. Divide" notched up 2.7 million models, including sales and streaming exercise, and the 26 year-outdated singer-songwriter's single Shape of You" spent 33 weeks on Billboard's Sizzling one hundred chart and was streamed one billion times. The perfect document to come out of punk, or punk's dying knell? On this double album, The Conflict fused their rockabilly roots with their love of reggae, moving away from the choppy snarls of the scene that birthed them. This was the album that legitimised punk - hitherto a stroppy fad - into the rock canon. Its iconic cover, and songs concerning the Spanish Civil Battle introduced left-wing politics firmly into musical fashion. Following are curated descriptions of among the most typical genres and sub-genres you'll hear. There are APPROACH too many to checklist and it's rising all the time, so do not enable this to restrict you to all the opposite possibilities. Plus, most artists don't want to simply fit in a single genre, however figuring out their stylistic distinctions can further appreciation for his or her techniques. Perhaps we'll see. iHeart went chapter 11 last March. Relying on how the collectors handle issues, it might get damaged up and the stations sold or they could have a buying who'll take the whole mess. Hopefully, both approach, the new owners may see local curation as one among radio's strengths, and if I'm proper about how sure subgenres of rock music go mainstream then we would get another wave. In case you refuse to call Think about Dragons rock music though, you won't acknowledge it when it does.
Music was once straightforward. Some folks liked rock. Some folks appreciated pop. Some people liked jazz, blues or classical. And, mainly, that was type of it. Nevertheless, musicians are a stressed bunch and you may only play Smoke on the Water, At all times Crashing within the Identical Car or Roast Fish and Cornbread so many instances before somebody is certain to say: Dangle on a minute, www.audio-transcoder.com what would happen if we played all of them on the similar time?" And so it is that new genres are born. Now think about that occuring for not less than half a century or so - all over the world - and also you attain a point at which, in accordance with the engineer and information alchemist" Glenn McDonald, there are actually 1,264 genres of in style music; all you could do is go directly to his startlingly clever website and look - effectively, pay attention - for your self. Progressive home is usually what individuals think of when they think about EDM music. It's very talked-about music in nightclubs and is understood for it is upbeat, blissful sound. Progressive home is finest identifiable by it's verses, that are heavily featured in most songs within the genre. ALSO - to you individuals who dwell to right individuals on the internet: I'm making use of all of these genres to trendy-day producers. I will nonetheless briefly carry up the original masters, however I'm tryna keep it just a little contemporary. Additionally, nobody individual's view is absolutely the right one. Hold that in thoughts. So I'm not negating your article but saying the issue isn't that rock is for white boys and pop is for girls - that is something the business has decided. You most likely know that a lot of the pop music as we speak is written by a small group of 5 or so middle-aged Scandinavian men - another formula. The people need good music and much of what is written for pop is formulaic and after awhile monotonous- all the time the identical. Not particularly effectively-identified outdoors of its personal neighborhood, Black MIDI is a musical style wherein MIDI files are remixed and stuffed with 1000's, hundreds of thousands, and even billions of notes. The black designation has to do with the truth that when so many notes are located close to each other on a traditional two-stave piano score, they create a kind of black mess of characters. Solo: This can be used anytime, preferably after a spherical or two of chorus and verse, so as to add a bit jam feel. Used rather a lot in jazz and can actually create cool sections in music. Frightened about the loss, ethnomusicologists have begun attempting to doc, preserve, and even breathe new life into these disappearing traditions—much as linguists over the last twenty years have launched a concerted effort to help endangered languages within the face of predictions that three,000 are prone to vanish by the top of the century. On this letter, we present completely different approaches for music genre classification. The proposed techniques, which are composed of a characteristic extraction stage followed by a classification procedure, discover each the variations of parameters used as input and the classifier architecture. Tests have been carried out with three kinds of music, particularly blues, classical, and lounge, that are considered informally by some musicians as being huge dividers" among music genres, showing the efficacy of the proposed algorithms and establishing a relationship between the relevance of every set of parameters for every music model and every classifier. In contrast to different works, entropies and fractal dimensions are the options adopted for the classifications. This record isn't comprehensive, but merely goes over a few of the more well-liked sub-genres of EDM. Some artists do not fit very effectively inside any of the genres and simply create a brand new sub-genre. For instance DVBBS refers to their fashion as Woozy". A Man of Smoke
Mike is a 50 year old man with a background in electrical engineering, and he had a truly bizarre encounter with an ostensibly alien elemental entity on December 20th, 2003 in California’s Litchfield. Mike is actually his real first name, but his second name has remained unknown to protect the anonymity of the witness. He told his story thusly:
‘It was night-time in the winter and the moon was out and very bright in the clear sky. I live alone, and my street is a dead-end, and there is quite a bit of space between the houses. I like this area because I prefer my privacy. But that night, I wish I had a great number of neighbours so I could call them to come and see this thing. I went outside to get some air and clear my head because I was working on this project for IBM, which was designing a power relay station for one of their main computer rooms, and it was starting to get to me because I couldn’t figure out how the wire should go through the junctions without burning the building down. I went outside and looked up, and saw a dark, cigar-like object in the sky, hanging there like a giant blimp with no lights. At first, that’s what I thought it was - a blimp. It was right above my yard and not that high. I said to myself "what the hell is this guy doing, just hanging in the sky with no lights?" and all of a sudden there was a flash of pink light - and in my yard was this figure that looked like a man made of smoke. I have about an acre in my front yard, so he was pretty far away, but I could make him out. He looked like he was made of grey smoke, and his form was being illuminated by the moon. At that point, I don’t know what happened to the object in the sky, since my eyes were transfixed on the man or whatever it was, slowly walking towards my front door. I then heard the dogs in the neighbourhood start howling and barking, and this figure kept walking towards me. I called out "can I help you?" - and this thing was now less than 100ft in front of me, and still getting closer. It looked just like a man made of smoke. It was about 7ft tall and very slim, and I could see no face or hands, just arms, head, legs and a body. I quickly went back into the house and closed the door, and pulled down the shades. Then, the lights went out - and that really freaked me out. I went to the phone to call the police, but the phone was dead. Then, all of a sudden there was a pounding on the door and on the walls of my home. The pounding was so loud and strong that things were flying off a shelf I had in the living room. I ran upstairs and got a baseball bat to protect myself. As I was walking back down the stairs, I heard what sounded like voices in the living room. I could not understand what they were saying - it sounded like a chant or a prayer in some strange language. I went downstairs and yelled, swinging the bat as I walked into the living room, knocking lamps and breaking my television in the process. Then, all of a sudden the voices stopped, and the lights went back on. Still shaking, I grabbed for the phone, and thank god it was working - I called the police. The two officers came over in about 10 minutes and took a report. I could tell that the officers did not believe me, and they asked me if I was drinking or did drugs. I have never seen a ghost or had anything happen to me that was supernatural or whatever - but this changed my mind and made me realise that we are not the only living beings sharing this planet’.
Encounters with beings that could be interpreted as shadow people, ghosts or elementals are not usually associated with UFO reports - and this report simply hammers the point home to me that the UFO phenomenon is extremely important in understanding the existence of a wide variety of other paranormal entities. Philip J. Imbrogno said in his book: ‘Once we consider that there are multiple dimensions, other parallel realities - we can understand and make more sense out of his (Mike’s) encounter’.

So, how did Penn Yan get its name?
By Jonathan Monfiletto
Everyone can agree the village of Penn Yan derives its name from the Pennsylvanians (or Pennamites, as some sources state) and the Yankees (from New England) who settled the wilderness frontier that is now Yates County. And everyone can agree Penn Yan is quite a unique name, unique enough to cause people to wonder about and ponder over the origin of its name.
The name is so unique, in fact, one needs to input only “Penn Yan” – without “New York” or “NY” – into a search engine to find Penn Yan, New York because there appears to be just one community in the United States with that name.
According to my research into the origin of the name Penn Yan, everyone generally agrees on at least the basic outline of a similar-but-different story, as several versions of the same story exist in several historical records. Similar enough to make the story seem credible, as if it was handed down through generations who changed details they couldn’t remember, but different enough to make the story seem apocryphal to a modern-day skeptic such as me.
I help neither my own skepticism or the discussion over the origin of the name Penn Yan when I read Fran Dumas’ indication in her book “Penn Yan and How It Got That Way” that 1806 saw the first mention of the name Penn Yan in a public record yet hold my own hypothesis that the first mention must have come at least a bit earlier than that.
In a chapter of his “History of the Town of Lloyd,” a small town near New Paltz almost equidistant between Albany and New York City, Warren G. Sherwood discusses a group of people who became known as the Pang Yangers. These people purportedly started out from Litchfield County, Connecticut with the intention of following the Public Universal Friend – then in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area – straight from Connecticut to the New Jerusalem that became Yates County.
Along the way, these people came upon the Hudson Valley, found an unclaimed, uninhabited piece of land suitable to their lifestyle, and decided to settle there rather than continue on to the New Jerusalem. According to Sherwood, these people called their settlement on the west side of the Hudson River the Penn Yan Settlement as early as 1800 – meaning the term Penn Yan must have been around at least a little longer than that, for a group of people if not a specific community.
Hence, my hypothesis that the name Penn Yan was around and mentioned – if not in a public record – well before Dumas’ dating of 1806. And long before the origin story of the naming of the Yates County village is supposed to have taken place.
In relating Catharine Crane’s narrative about her life and the early history of Penn Yan and Yates County, I mentioned a subsection of her narrative in the Yates County Chronicle titled “Naming Penn Yan.” In Mrs. Crane’s words, that story begins, “On a certain day in the early settlement of Penn Yan, a number of citizens met under a large pine tree near the foot of Main street to agree upon a name for the village.” These men (I’m assuming there were no women in this group) had a runlet of whiskey, equivalent to 18 gallons according to my research; they bored a hole in the tree, drove in a peg, took a round of drinks (because many good stories in history and elsewhere involve drinking), and hung up the runlet. How the men hung up an 18-gallon container of whiskey without breaking the peg – or how big of a peg they needed to sustain the weight of the container – I do not know. But at any rate, as Mrs. Crane states for posterity, “Then business commenced.”
Several names were tossed around (what a lively debate it must have been!), but none seemed to grab a majority of support among the men gathered. Finally, Philomen Baldwin rose and stated, according to Mrs. Crane, “Gentlemen, if we cannot untie this knot we must cut it. We are part of us Penn-ymites and part Yan-kees; and I therefore move we christen our village ‘Penn Yan.’” Apparently, everyone present absolutely loved the name, unanimously adopted it, took a drink of whiskey of course, and then gave three cheers for Penn Yan.
In a “What’s in a Name?” newspaper column, James F. Osborne offers two (other, different) versions of the origin story. While Mrs. Crane did not state a year for the story’s setting, Osborne asserts it happened in 1810 – when the village was only two gristmills, a sawmill, and a few scattered dwellings – and mentions the village took on the name Morrisville after early settler Morris F. Sheppard. Since a village in Madison County already had that name, however, the name was found to be impractical and the residents here sought a new name for their community.
It was during a barn raising celebration that Philemon Baldwin (one detail that gets changed is the spelling of his first name), according to Osborne, uttered the quote that Mrs. Crane also attributes to him. In the other version reported by Osborne, Benjamin Barton, “a military officer of some distinction,” suggested the name Penn Yank after the two groups who settled the area. Then, Jimmie Greaves, “a Scotchman by birth and a merchant’s clerk by occupation,” soon dropped the “k” in his correspondence and conversation because it was more acceptable to the public. “Comparison of all available documents indicates that the village was not mentioned as Penn Yan previous to 1810,” Osborne states.
Stafford C. Cleveland, the Chronicle editor who I assume and believe interviewed Mrs. Crane and wrote her narrative, agrees with her the naming of Penn Yan is attributed to Philomen Baldwin. “It was a vexed question for some time, and other names came near being fastened on the nascent village,” Cleveland writes in his “History and Directory of Yates County,” published in 1873. Cleveland’s version is slightly different from Mrs. Crane’s memory, though: Cleveland simply stated, as “the liquor flowed and the discussion warmed,” the wisdom over the subject grew mellow and Baldwin called out, “Let it be called Pang Yang.” It was considered a compromise between the Pennsylvanians and the Yankees but met with repugnance until improved into Penn Yan and finally adopted.
In his 1892 “History of Yates County, New York,” Lewis Cass Aldrich asserts there was a “serious dispute” between a faction of settlers from Pennsylvania and a faction of settlers from New England, “all because they could not agree upon a proper and fitting name for their village,” with the Pennsylvanians and Yankees both wanting to name their village after a locality from their homeland. Finally, Philomen Baldwin entered the picture to settle the matter during a barn raising. “After the last rafter had been made fast in place Mr. Baldwin climbed up the frame to the plate and there addressed the assembled people,” Aldrich relates. From there, Baldwin suggested the name Penn Yan as a compromise between the two factions. This proposition was agreed to and soon thereafter ratified by the changing of the post office from Jerusalem to Penn Yan.
In 1914, Walter Wolcott wrote a book simply titled, “Penn Yan, New York” in which he naturally discussed the naming of the village. Similar to Osborne (though I was unable to determine a date or newspaper in which Osborne’s column was published), Wolcott mentions Morrisville as an early name for the village and the conflict this name presented since it already existed elsewhere. “…other names were proposed, but none seemed worthy of popular acceptance,” Wolcott states. So, a meeting took place (seeming to be a more low-key affair than a whiskey-around-the-tree get-together and even a barn raising) to decide upon a name for the village. Wolcott admits the story could be either a fact or a legend; in one report, according to Wolcott, Philemon Baldwin said, “Let the place be called Pang Yang,” while another report attributes to Baldwin the longer quote detailed by Mrs. Crane and Osborne. Still another version, as Wolcott relates, gives the credit for the naming to Benjamin Barton, who suggested the name Penn Yank until Jimmie Greaves dropped the “k” and created a more acceptable form of the village’s name. “From a comparison of documents, still extant, it would seem that our village was not mentioned as Penn Yan previous to 1810,” Wolcott writes.
In her 2012 book, Dumas includes an origin story completely different than the others recorded by historians before her. She offers the “earliest known description of the settlement” written by Oliver Prentiss, describing the scattering of mills, taverns, and other establishments that made up the village in 1808. According to Prentiss, Abner Pairce (Dumas states Pierce is the actual spelling of his last name), sat “on a rude kind of platform, in front of the tavern” and “named the place Penn Yang.” Efforts were made to change the name, but none succeeded until Jimmie Greaves changed the name to Penn Yan around 1815 or 1816. “The only fact that Prentiss got wrong,” Dumas asserts, is that it was actually Philemon Baldwin who named Penn Yan.
In a separate section of her book, Dumas states the earliest evidence for the village’s name comes from a town of Benton record – called “The Town Book” – dated January 21, 1807. This record describes roads laid out after the town was organized in 1802; this record mentions a road leading from Penn Yan to Augusta, an original name for the town of Middlesex. So, Dumas relates, “this particular record proves that Penn Yan was named certainly before the beginning of 1807, and probably during 1806.” She also mentions a similar 1802 record that does not use any specific name for the settlement but refers instead to particular residences or locations.
So, how did Penn Yan get its name? After nearly 2,000 words here, it seems we still don’t know the real answer – although we’ve got plenty of origin stories and one hypothesis.
