We major in,

Availability – All medicines you need may not be available with the chemist near you and you might end up searching 5-6 different chemists to get the medicines you need. We make sure that if the medicines you need is available in the town you will get it.

Convenience – It is difficult to go out to buy medicines when you are not in the best of health or you have to depend on someone to get the medicines for you, which is not always possible. We deliver the medicines at your doorstep the same day.

Affordability –Medicines can be expensive and often hurt your pockets. We negotiate hard with our suppliers and build efficiencies in our supply chain to ensure that the cost of purchasing and delivering the medicines remains low and we can pass on the benefit to you. Currently, we are giving a minimum 15% discount on all medicines to our customers.

Vishay further talks about all of their motivational stories,

“My entire family has been from service class and that’s how I was groomed from the beginning. Study well, get a job and then keep growing. But after working in corporate sector for 3-4 years I knew I wasn’t meant to work for someone else. But getting out of the job mould and actually starting up took time. With the startup culture developing in India I decided to work with one to get some exposure and 1 year at Ibibo helped to understand how startups work and I got the confidence that even I can do it and that’s when I took the plunge.”

Talking about Abhinav, he says,

“After his Post graduation, he wanted to settle abroad as most of his peers did but had to come back to Gwalior for some Family reasons. But after working there for some time he realized the need of good healthcare in Gwalior and decided to continue working there. He visioned providing good healthcare facilities to other tiers 2 cities where it is much needed, but setting up hospitals would have been highly capital intensive. With Med-x he saw the opportunity to reach tier 2-3 towns across India and realized his dream of being able to contribute to the healthcare needs in these cities.”

For Indroji, he has to say,

“Being from one of the oldest Maratha family to have settled in Gwalior he is very proud of being from Gwalior. He always wanted to do something which puts Gwalior on the forefront. Seeing the startup culture expanding in India he wanted to start something from Gwalior which he could be proud of. The moment we discussed the idea of Med-x with him he was all excited and ready to give his all.”

How did a laparoscopic surgeon, a pharmacy businessman and a former Ibibo employee come together? And from where did the idea of med-tech startup come?

I was introduced to Abhinav through a common friend as he was looking to partner someone for a hospital app that he wanted to make. We clicked in the first meeting itself and while brainstorming on different services we could add to the app we decided to start Med-x. Indroji is a school friend of Abhinav and in the pharma distribution business. He was also exploring new opportunities and was an ideal fit to partner us in Med-x and that’s how three of us got together. The 3 of us spent a couple of days together figuring out the business model and also understanding each other better. We gelled pretty well and since then we have been working together to make Med-x big.

How was the initial response you got?

We launched by distributing pamphlets on the first day in Gwalior and were hoping that we get some queries. But by end of day, we had 11 confirmed orders, which was way beyond what we had expected. We were pleasantly surprised and since that day there has been no looking back.

In the next 2 years, we are looking to be in 40 cities in India and focus on getting our operations right. We will also keep adding services as we grow and learn.

Your message to the world:

Our endeavor is to make health care affordable and convenient for everyone. A lot of healthcare facilities are accessible in Metros but the same kind infrastructure is not there in other towns despite the fact that healthcare needs are the same everywhere. With growing age and lifestyle issues, healthcare expense takes a major hit on one’s expenses and we want to ensure that this hit remains minimal. At the same time, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle in India.
