A four and a half hour drive from Leitrim to Liscannor and the sweet little hotel.
Quinn and Danielle rode in the back of the Skoda, and being with them for those precious hours was a delight.
A lovely dinner by the fire in the restaurant next door - a soft bed, and an early risingā¦.
Iād brought vines and ivy and flowers and branches and wrestled a rose bush for a handful of bright red rose hips. I sat on the floor by the bed to make the bouquet I promised for Morgan to carry, only a couple of hours away. I opened the door to the balcony to let the cold mist into the room, and heard the congregating ravens talking among themselves. They seem to know precisely when the hotel starts serving breakfast - and they gathered along the railing, waiting for snacks.
Brian woke up, and asked me if I had the Motrin pills I usually keep in my purse. I handed him the little silver antique pill box in the shape of a tiny book which Iāve carried for years. He took two, and headed for a shower.
I continued working on the floor, behind the bed.
When he came in wrapped in a towel, I asked him to not forget to hand me back my silver pillbox.
āItās on the bedside table.ā
No. No it is not.
We spent the next 45 minutes crawling over every inch of the hotel room on our knees - it is gone.
And then I looked at this fellow, standing on the railing - I swear he winked at me.
Ravens.
Shiny thingsā¦..
