Safaricom further reduces the charges of sending money via M-Pesa
Tumblr media
It will now cost Sh6 to send between Sh101 and Sh500, down from Sh11.
Transactions of between Sh1,501 and Sh2,500 will cost Sh32 down from Sh41.
“All transactions of Sh100 and below will remain free. In addition, all Mpesa customers will continue to enjoy free transactions between Mpesa and bank accounts,” Ndegwa said.
According to him, the price cuts are permanent, effective 1st January 2021 and will enable more than 26.8 million customers to continue enjoying lower costs whenever they send money.
“Our new, reduced tariffs will equally apply to transactions for micro-Businesses under our new Pochi La Biashara service, and for Lipa Na M-PESA businesses using the Transacting Till to make payments,” he said.
He said the maximum a customer transact daily or hold in Mpesa account is Sh300,000.
“As part of our Customer Obsession strategy, we maintain our commitment to continue to introduce new measures and innovations that meet the needs of our customers,” he said.

How to check your Fuliza limit on Safaricom
Tumblr media
Fuliza is a service offered by Safaricom that enables users to complete their financial transactions even when they do not have enough money in their MPesa.
The service is available to all MPesa users but caries depending on one’s credit ranking on the mobile money service and how long you have used MPesa.
You will be charged 1% access fee and a maintenance fee on the outstanding balance as per below table. Normal M-PESA transaction charges apply.
MPesa transactions that users can complete with Fuliza are Lipa Na M-PESA, Buy goods, Paybill and Send money.
The only transaction not available with Fuliza is withdrawal of funds from your MPesa account.
To check one’s Fuliza limit, there are three steps:
Type *234#
Select 0 which reads Fuliza M-Pesa
Select option 1 which reads Check my limit
You will receive confirmation from Safaricom showing how much you can use when you have insufficient funds to make an MPesa payment.
The more times one uses Fuliza service, the more they get a chance of a limit increase. The limit is reviewed every three months.
MPesa users can also opt out of the Fuliza service but only once their debt is fully paid up.
Funds received or deposited into one’s M-PESA account are automatically deducted to clear outstanding Fuliza amounts.
