REVIEW
Hero’s Heart by Janie Crouch
Linear Tactical: Oak Creek #4
A bit of the wicked stepmother-stepsister vibe in this one with an equally evil father for poor Sloane ~ So glad she ran into Callum, Bear, and Theo when she did!
What I liked:
* Sloane Miller: strong, resilient, patient, calm, responsible, abuse survivor, difficult backstory, intriguing, falls hard for Callum
* Callum Webb: previous law enforcement special forces, Oak Creek Sheriff, widow, loner, protective, strong, lethal, rather taken with Sloane
* Watching the romance unfold between Sloane and Callum
* Lincoln Bollinger; IT guru, on the spectrum(?), always has ways to help out when asked, there for Callum and Sloane on the trek through Moldova
* Joy: waitress, outgoing, wants to open her own food truck, good friend to Sloane, strong, paid a price in this book
* Zac: good friend of Callum’s with good advice to share
* The positive small-town vibe of Oak Creek
* Being able to dislike the bad guys and wish karma upon them
* Knowing there is another book in the series to look forward to
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like
* The kidnapers and those in cahoots with them
* The twisted evil behavior of the Getty family and how they treated Sloane
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review.

He was out of the game. He should've stayed that way. When a former FBI colleague asks Callum Webb to rescue the kidnapped daughter of an American bigwig in eastern Europe, Callum’s just got one word for him... No. Okay, actually two words: hell, no. Callum is out of the international law enforcement game and has been for a long time. He’s happy in his role as gruff sheriff of the tiny town of Oak Creek, Wyoming. Even if the job doesn’t keep his nightmares at bay. Plus, rescuing a spoiled heiress is not high on Callum’s bucket list. When he ends up being the only viable option, Callum knows he’s not going to let a young woman die so he prepares for one last daring mission. But nothing is what it seems, and this mission will change Callum’s life forever in more ways than one..

Hero’s Prize by Janie Crouch
Linear Tactical: Oak Creek #3
Colton and Ella grew up together as children of couples in the original Linear Tactical series. They have known one another since they were in diapers and are close but not as close as at least one of them might prefer them to be. In this book we find out if the longtime crush of one will find the catalyst that will propel their friendship into more.
What I liked: * Ella O’Connor: business owner, baker and sweet maker, calm, peacemaker, intelligent, listens, supportive, loving, kind, caring, has had a crush on Colton for a long time
* Colton Harrison: adventure lover, extreme sports professional, popular, media influencer, questioning his life, thinking about his future, and so glad Logan shared info with him
* That both main characters had flaws, seemed real and were  easy to visualize, relate to, and care about
* The romance element of the story and how the relationship grew
* The side story of the camp for siblings of cancer patients and wondering if and how this will show up in the future
* The stalker portion, finding out who the baddie was, and that the person was caught and dealt with
* Lincoln Bollinger: Colton’s cousin, computer savvy, savant, very literal, tuned into numbers and math and patterns, aware, verbal filter sometimes iffy, would like to read his story in the future
* Getting to see the characters of previous books and find out how they are doing AND hoping there will be more books in the series
* The plot pacing, setting, and writing
*  That there was a happy ending for Ella and Colton and there is another book coming soon
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how difficult it must be for families with children that have cancer and how the disease impacts not only the child but the entire family

When a deadly accident leaves extreme sport superstar Colton Harrison questioning what his future holds, he decides to take a timeout in his hometown of Oak Creek. He knows the mountains and wildness of Wyoming will help him heal. But he has no idea how he’s known sweet Ella O’Conner all his life but is somehow only really seeing her for the first time now. People in his world may call her plain, but she’s downright beautiful to Colton. Ella is who he wants. Who he needs. Who he wants to spend the rest of his life with. But someone is determined that will never happen.

Hero’s Flight by Janie Crouch
Linear Tactical-Oak Creek #2
Childhood friends, sweethearts, then something happened that created a separation difficult to bridge. This is a second chance romance with wonderful characters that definitely deserved their happily ever after!
What I liked: * Derek Bollinger: ex-Air Force Combat Controller, pilot of helicopters and planes, working with Helitak, brother, son, survivor, has PTSD, protective, lethal, loves his wife, conflicted and in pain
* Becky Mackay: veterinarian, intelligent, intuitive, caring, wise, strong, dedicated to her marriage, wants to help Derek with his PTSD, has a bad guy to handle before the end of the book
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That it stands alone without reading previous books – though it was fun to see some of the old characters again
* Seeing characters from the next generation that will be having their stories told in this series
* The glimpse into flying, rescues, survival, and the need for women to be able to protect themselves
* That at least one of the bad guys was caught
* Knowing that Colton and Ella will be up next to have their story told
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Knowing how many people must suffer from PTSD as well as the impact it can have
* Not knowing what the outcome for Princess is

BLURB
Air Force Combat Controller Derek Bollinger knows what it is to feel that every breath might be his last. Enduring hell in an enemy prison for five weeks taught him that. The only thing that got him through it was the thought of his family, his hometown of Oak Creek, Wyoming, and especially of Becky Mackay. He survived, but with blood on his hands. His own. His friends’ who died beside him. His enemies’. And then... Becky’s . A night that should’ve been perfect for them both turned into a nightmare Derek can never wake up from, leaving him with only one staying the hell away. But Becky has almost lost the man she loves too many times—first to that prison camp, then to his own demons. She’s not going to lose him again. Yes, that night between them changed everything. Changed her . But change isn’t always a bad thing. And it’s time for them to stand together to face his PTSD and their future. Especially when an unexpected danger comes after them both. Together will be the only way to survive. ★★★★★ USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Janie Crouch brings you the protector romance you crave! Full length novels with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and a happily-ever-after guaranteed. Believe in heroes!
