Adare Manor is located in the village of Adare, in the county of Limerick, Ireland. The Neo-Gothic manor was built in the 19th century for the Dunraven Earls upon the site of a 17th century structure, in which some of the walls were retained. The 7th Earl of Dunraven couldn’t afford to maintain the Adare Manor, so the estate and its contents were sold in 1982 to an investment consortium. In 1987, Thomas Kane, an Irish American from Florida, purchased the estate and converted it into the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort. In 2015, the property was purchased by Limerick businessman J.P. McManus, who hosted pro-am golfing events on the property. Adare Manor is scheduled to host the 2027 Ryder Cup. Set on the banks of the Maigue River, the 840-acre estate boasts parkland, extensive gardens, a golf course, grounds for the Limerick Cricket Club, self-catering lodges, two three-bedroom self-catering cottages, a Michelin star restaurant, a spa, and the Padel Club. (Padel is a mix between tennis and squash) The Padel Club activity center offers two indoor padel courts, a 17-meter pool, a sauna, a steam room, a full gym, a contemplative studio, and a sports simulation room used for virtual golf, baseball, hockey, and more. Adare Manor has 104 bedrooms. Forty-two of them are part of a new wing linked to the original structure by a colonnade.

#i feel like im searching google maps for lost media. strangest genius says theres a harry clarke window in ballylooby county tipperary#i thought hmm well if i do get to visit my mom's friend that isn't TOOO out of the way btwn limerick junction and his house!#so i went on google maps to try and find this church . the book says it is called Duhill Catholic Church#if you search this it takes you to Dunhill with an n in waterford. which is kinda nearby. so i went to their website thinking perhaps my#book just misspelled it every single time. they have a whole section of their website on the stained glass windows at the church#(with the world's worst photos) and not a single one of them is by harry clarke#ok well the book says it's in a catholic church by cahir. so i searched church and clicked on each of the ones by cahir#the closest catholic one has no mention of stained glass in any of the reviews and no photos#and from the photos of these windows in my book i KNOWW there would be photos in the reviews. bc they are soo gorgeous#SO WHERE COULD THEY BE??#talkin

The facade of Castlegarde, County Limerick, the core of which is a five-storey tower house said to have been in continuous occupation since first constructed by the O’Brien family. After being confiscated by the crown and granted to Sir George Bourchier at the end of the 16th century, the building passed through various hands until 1820 when acquired by Waller O’Grady, a son of Standish O’Grady,…

Wyoming's new poet laureate charms snarky kid
Fans, fellow writers, and curious newcomers filled the Rock Springs Public Library meeting room, eagerly waiting to hear from Barbara Smith, Wyoming’s newly appointed poet laureate. When Smith stood to speak, her voice brought words to life, painting vivid pictures of Wyoming’s landscapes, changes over time, rich history, and the people whose lives still enrich us. After the reading, the…

John Joseph Hogan’s Missionary Life Begins - 175 years ago
One hundred seventy-five (175) years ago today, October 24, 1848, John Joseph Hogan, age 19, departed from his family home in Cahirguillamore, County Limerick, to travel to St. Louis to study for the priesthood. Not the traditional path to holy order perhaps, but his chosen path to fulfill his desire to become a missionary on the plains of the still-new country in America. Young John Hogan was…
