Why demography is still destiny
From the Financial Times review of No One Left: Why the World Needs More Children by Paul Morland
In 1950 in Italy there were "about 17 under-tens for every one person aged over 80," he writes. Now it is more like one for one. In Thailand in 1950 there were "more than 70 under-tens for every one person over 80 ... Within a generation the over-eighties will outnumber the under-tens." At current rates Japan and China will have lost more than 40 per cent of their populations by the end of the century. When the NHS was founded in 1948 there were 200-300,000 people in the UK aged 80 and over, a cohort that typically needs six to seven times more healthcare than people in their prime. Now there are more than 1.5m. “This is not just social change,” he argues, but a “complete social transformation.”

The more religious a US state the higher its fertility rate; but conservatism correlates even more strongly with high fertility.

Italy is in particular trouble: in 1950 there were 17 under-tens for every over-80, while today it is one-to-one. The dependency ratio has risen during that period from 15% to 40% and will reach 80% by the end of the century. Long before that, young workers will start fleeing the country rather than shoulder this enormous burden, a problem that will grow worse as wealthy countries scramble to attract a shrinking number of highly productive workers – an arms race that has already notably begun with digital nomad schemes.

The Dark Rose by Cynthia Harrod Eagles has uncle/niece incest. It's a historical romance set during the 1530's, and the uncle and niece actually do get married.
For real? This is verrrrrrrry good news. Thank you!
Paul, great-grandson of Elanor Morland, has inherited the Morland estates, and his own Amyas is set to be his heir. But Paul fathers a beloved illegitimate son, and bitter jealousy causes a destructive rift between the two half-brothers which will lead to death. Paul's niece, Nanette, becomes a maid-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, and at the court of Henry VIII she becomes embroiled in the King's bitter feud with Rome. Through birth and death, love and hatred, triumph and heartbreak, the Morlands continue proudly to claim their place amongst England's aristocracy.

You can hear her in podcasts across all genres, including Hit the Bricks, H.G. Wells Has His Regrets, Morland P.I, Where the Stars Fell, and Two Flat Earthers Kidnap a Freemanson. They have been featured in various award-winning video games, indie animations, and trending podcasts, as well as being a published author. When not in the booth, they can be found either bothering their dog Letty, or playing video games. Find Trenton online at trentonbuttvoices.com
And that's it, folks. That's our slate of ghosts, ghouls, haunted humans, and show-within-a-show characters for season three.
I'm pretty sure this cast is the best one there is to be found in the void, and I can't wait to show you what we've created... sometime this month.
Yours ghoulishly,
Courtney

Because no one else has taken the time to correct OP's absolute brain dead drivel lemme throw a couple things out there: 1. This sketch comes from The History of the Evangelical churches of the valleys of Piemont by Sir Samuel Morland published in 1658 (https://archive.org/details/historyofevangel00morl/page/344/mode/2up). According to the original source it's a depiction of the execution of a woman named Anna, daughter of Giovanni Charboneire. A couple things to note; firstly, this has absolutely nothing to do with the spread of Christianity and is almost a thousand years removed from the time of Charlemagne. The events depicted in the book are about the Savoyard–Waldensian wars which took place from 1655-1690 which was both a period of persecution by the nationalist churches against the Waldensian sect and territorial conflict between Savoy and France. At most we can say this was an intra-religious conflict in Christianity, nothing to do at all with OP's claim of witchcraft 2. Let's talk about witchcraft. Firstly, the Christian Church has since the time of St. Augustine institutionally opposed persecuting witchcraft because witches don't exist and have no power.
The Church affirmed that people may be self deluded into believing themselves to have powers but that this delusion was either the result of mental illness (to use a more modern idea) or was a diabolic influence on the mind, not in reality. See the Canon Episcopi for primary source data or Jeffery Davies, A History of Witchcraft in the Middle Ages for secondary reading. The main witchcraft craze and much over publicized witch hunts of the late middle ages were largely the result of Protestant/Catholic conflict in border regions following the Reformation, Puritan Salem being a notable exception. 3. Finally, the first major demographics to convert to Christianity in the Roman Empire were women and slaves because, uniquely opposed to traditional pagan religions, Christianity affirmed the inherent dignity and worth of all humans, not just the male elite. To quote Geoffery Blainey's Short History of Christianity: "Whereas neither the Jewish, nor the Roman family would warm the hearts of a modern feminist, the early Christians were sympathetic to women. Paul himself insisted in his early writings that men and women were equal. His letter to the Galatians was emphatic in defying the prevailing culture, and his words must have been astonishing to women encountering Christian ideas for the first time: 'there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Jesus Christ'. Women shared equally in what is called the Lord's Supper or Eucharist, a high affirmation of equality." TLDR: OP's claim is without any historic, theological, or intellectual merit. If one of my students gave me this I would give them remedial work on how to properly source information and do research.
This is just a reminder of how Christianity became so popular today.*
During the reign of Charlemagne, women were impaled on sharpened poles put in the vagina.
Slowly, over days, the pole would travel the length of the body through the organs, causing tremendous pain, simply because a woman was found collecting herbs in the forest. She was labelled a witch.
Their screams could be heard for days as an example to those who would not accept the foreign faith. Christianity became so popular because of sheer terror of what would happen if it wasn't accepted

Baby bust
In 1979, when Margaret Thatcher came to power, she inherited what Morland has called the ‘demographic dividend’, a huge number of twenty-somethings entering the workforce and a relatively small number of pensioners and children to support. Britain was in that sweet spot because, following the sexual revolution and the invention of the pill, the country entered sub-replacement fertility in 1973, a position from which it has never recovered - and so the high-earning Eighties was in some ways dependent on that lack of dependency. Now that same cohort are entering retirement age, and there are far too few younger workers to support them.

TURNER WILLIAMS JR. / us alabama marseille

This day in Classics of Rock…
March 28th
2013 - Hugh McCracken
American rock guitarist and session musician Hugh McCracken died of leukemia in New York City at the age of 70. He appeared on many recordings by Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Billy Joel, Roland Kirk, Roberta Flack, B. B. King, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, The Monkees, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, James Taylor, Phoebe Snow, Bob Dylan, Carly Simon, Graham Parker, Eric Carmen, Loudon Wainwright III, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Four Seasons, Hall and Oates, Gary Wright and Andy Gibb. Because of such high demand for his work, McCracken declined Paul McCartney's invitation to help form his new band, Wings after appearing on his 1971 album Ram.
2000 - Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page accepted substantial undisclosed libel damages from a magazine which claimed he had caused or contributed to the death of his Led Zeppelin bandmate John Bonham. Page's solicitor, Norman Chapman, told High Court Judge Mr Justice Morland that the feature in Ministry magazine printed in 1999 claimed Page was more concerned with keeping vomit off his bed than saving his friend's life, and that he stood over him wearing Satanist robes and performing a useless spell.
1992 - Ozzy Osbourne
Over a $100,000 (£58,800) worth of damage was caused at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, California, when Ozzy Osbourne invited the first two rows of the audience on stage. Several others took up the offer and the band was forced to exit the stage.
1976 - Phil Collins
Genesis began their first North American tour since Peter Gabriel left the band, appearing in Buffalo, New York, with Phil Collins taking over as lead singer.
1973 - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin released their fifth studio album, Houses Of The Holy in the UK. The album title was a dedication by the band to their fans who appeared at venues they dubbed 'Houses of the Holy'. The cover is a collage of several photographs which were taken at the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland, by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis. The two children who modelled for the cover were siblings Stefan and Samantha Gates.
1970 - Simon and Garfunkel
Simon and Garfunkel were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', the duo's only UK No.1. Only Art Garfunkel sang on the track.
1968 - Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd recorded a performance for the BBC 2 TV Omnibus - The Sound of Change show from Barnes Common, London, England. The special, which was produced by Tony Palmer, also featured performances by The Who, Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The show was later broadcast in September of this year.
1967 - The Beatles
Working on sessions for the new Beatles album Sgt. Pepper at Abbey Road studios in London, John Lennon recorded his lead vocal for ‘Good Morning Good Morning’, and Paul McCartney added a lead guitar solo to the track. Lennon had decided he wanted to end the song with animal sound effects, and asked that they be sequenced in such a way that each successive animal was capable of scaring or eating the preceding one.

THE GUINEA PIG IN ART
The guinea pig does not exist in the wild. Caviae tschudii were domesticated by the pre-Incan Andeans. They were used as housepets, as honorific gifts, and in religious healing rituals through Meso-America for centuries. They were also commonly represented in stone and ceramic sculpture. Despite the name, guineas pigs are not found in Guinea, nor are they related to pigs. The French name cochin d'Inde reflects the use of the generic term "Indies" to refer to the New World.
Guinea pigs were imported, along with gold and other commodities, into Europe in the mid-16th century, where they were kept as exotic pets by the wealthy. The first guinea pig depicted in western art appears in a portrait by an unknown Flemish artist of three English children, dated 1580.
In the 17th century, guineas pigs are often among the animals inhabiting paradise in paintings nominally depicting the Fall of Man or in images of the animals on Noah's ark. Such taxonomic pictures were often displayed in the curiosity cabinets of patrons with natural science interests. Guinea pigs could also be disguised symbols in mythological pictures, as seen above in the work by Rubens, where a pair eat fig leaves at the feet of Venus and Mars. Eccentric artists like Faustino Bocchi put them to ridiculous Boschian uses.
In the later 18th century, they are are one a several cute animals favored by painters of sentimental genre scenes.
George Morland, Guinea Pigs, 1792; Jan Brueghel the Elder, Animals Entering Noah's Ark, 1613; Jan Brueghel the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens, Venus Disarming Mars, 1612; David de Coninck, Ducks, Guinea Pigs and a Rabbit in a Wooded Landscape, after 1701; George Stevens, The Favourite, c. 1810; Jan Brueghel the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens, Adam and Eve in Paradise, 1615; Jakob Bogdani, Capuchin squirrel monkey, two guinea pigs, a blue tit and an Amazon St. Vincent parrot with Peaches, Figs and Pears, c. 1700; Faustino Bocchi, Allegory of Marriage, c. 1700; Andean Ceramic Guinea Pig, c.
