Lime Bar Golf Society - 13th June 2018
Another beautiful morning for golf at Riquelme as the Lime Bar golfers teed off. Played in the Stableford format the following scores were recorded. Gold Class: 1st Ian Grant 32pts, 2nd Tony Brain 31pts, 3rd Ken Farrow 30pts Silver Class: 1st Bud Butler 38pts, 2nd George Rushton 32pts, 3rd Digger 31pts Nearest The Pin: Hole 4 Ken Styan, Hole 5 Ken Styan, Hole 7 Bazzer, Hole10 Ian Grant, Hole15 Ian Grant (In 2), Hole17 Ken Styan A good day’s golf with some good scores. Ian and Ken let the rest of us win a few balls!! Returning to the Lime Bar for presentation and refreshments. Thanks to the Bar staff and the ladies for the football sweep. Eddie Allan.

On a lovely winters morning of we went to Altorreal full of hope for a good day out. Weather was overcast but not a hint of rain, although for some members it was still a bit chilly. Looking at the score cards, it was clear that some members took longer to warm up than others! Scores on the day were below average, but never mind we all enjoyed ourselves. The majority of the course was in good condition except for a few greens and tee boxes but what do you expect for this time of the year Results for this outing: Gold and overall winner with 32 points was Andrew Drinkall, Runner up, Peter List Silver division winner with 30 points – Martin Morgan, Runner up – Tony Alcock Best guest on the day – John Mc Adams – 33 points Nearest the pins on par 3`s: Dennis Newman, Phil Harris, Bob mc Dermont & Peter List, Nearest pin in 2 on par 4: Eric Owens, Nearest the pin in 3 on par 5: nada 2`s pot was not won, so will be carried forward, Football card winners: Dennis Newman & Jeff Ellis Thanks to Steve and his staff at the med bar and bistro, our next outing is at Vistabella on 13/2/18 Anyone wishing to join our society is welcome and we can either be contacted by e-mail at: [email protected] or pop into the bar where all details can be left and we will get in touch with you

The Lime Bar Golf Society Captain's Day
The Competition was held at La Torre Golf Club on Wednesday the 24th July 2017.
On a scorching hot day 26 players turned up at La Torre Golf Club for Captain’s Day. The day began with a putting competition with each player having to down a stiff tot before attempting the challenge of a 20m putt across and down an undulating putting green. All was going well until the last putt of the day by Captain Mike Heighway ( who had to use a left handed putter). Mike did what he does best…..and putted the ball straight into the hole!!! Some people have all the luck!!!
Unknown teams of 4 players set out in different groups playing the Stableford format. The course was in great condition although the bunkers proved to be a problem for many and this was reflected in the scores. A fantastic day was had by all and all players returned to the Lime Bar for prize giving and drinks and buffet very kindly provided by the Lime Bar. Many thanks to Pete and the Lime Bar Team.

Back 9 Winner – M Heighway 15pts (Who very kindly donated his prize to 2nd place K Farrow)

LIME BAR GOLF SOCIETY - LO ROMERO 12TH JULY 2017
On a very warm day on the 12th July 2017, 31 players converged on the Lo Romero Golf Club. The course was in great condition which was reflected in the great scores, playing Stableford format the scores were as follows:-
Winners Gold Division: 1st – J McGregor 39pts, 2nd – R Lyles 38pts, 3rd – J Williams 37 pts count back
Winners Silver Division; 1st – G Ruston 32pts, 2nd – J Nichol 31pts, 3rd – G Mitchell 29pts
Nearest the Pin: No. 5 – D Da Silva, No. 7 – T Jones, No. 12 – T Malcolm, No. 15 – R Lyles, No. 17 – T Malcolm
Match Play Quarter Final Winners: T Brain, C Taylor, Bud Butler, I Johnstone
Players returned to the Lime Bar for some well earned refreshments. Great food was provided by the Lime Bar. Many thanks to Pete and the staff of the Lime Bar.

LIME BAR GOLF SOCIETY
The Lime Bar Golf Society’s President’s Day competition took place on Wednesday the 28th June 2017 at Vista Bella Golf Club.
24 players took part in the competition with our club President, Pete Rushton giving advice on the 1st tee box to each player as they teed off (his advice often wasn’t anything to do with golf!).
Teams of 4 played the Texas Scramble format. With lovely warm weather and a slight breeze an enjoyable battle commenced.
Prize Giving was held at the Lime Bar followed by great food and drinks provided by Pete and his staff. Special thanks to Pete from all the players.
Results were as follows:-
Presidents Cup – Winners. Grant, Bud Butler, B.Foley, l. Thwarted
2nd Place – Heighway, Bazzer, Digger, J. McGregor

On a very hot but enjoyable day on the 17th June 2017, 34 players teed off at Elle Valle. The course was in great condition with the pins placed in very difficult positions which was reflected in the scores …… apart from those with dubious handicaps! The results were:-

Mike Heighway – 34 pts, Ian Grant – 31 pts, Lynne Newbury – 29 pts
SILVER SECTION
Alan Thorpe – 32 pts, Eddie Allen – 30 pts (cb), John Walls – 30 pts

On a fine morning 36 players teed-off on this nice course but with very tough pin positions.
The competition was played in the stableford format and the scores recorded are as follows:-
Nearest the pin on the 6th hole was Bill Denne, Nearest the pin on the 7th hole was Ian Grant, Nearest the pin on the 10th hole was Nev. Greenwood, Nearest the pin on the 14th hole was Lyn Newbury, Nearest the pin on the 17th hole was Dave Railton, Nearest the pin on the 18th hole was Gary Lester
Silver Class 3rd place was Dave Railton with a score of 31 points, Silver Class 2nd place was Nev. Greenwood with a score of 31 points (on count-back), Silver Class 1st place was George Rushton with a score of 32 points
Gold Class 3rd place was Ian Grant with a score of 29 points, Gold Class 2nd place was John McGregor with a score of 29 points (on count-back), Gold Class 1st place was Mike John Williams with a score of 31 points
A very enjoyable days golf in pleasant company, thanks to the committee, the Lime Bar staff and the ladies selling the football draw tickets.

The competition was played in the stableford format and the scores recorded are as follows:-

Nearest the pin on the 13th hole was Ian Johnstone. Nearest the pin in 3 par 5 on the 18th hole was Ken Farrow
Silver Class 3rd place was Bud Butler with a score of 27 points. Silver Class 2nd place was Ray Hanlon with a score of 29 points. Silver Class 1st place was Barry Shawyer with a score of 31 points
Gold Class 3rd place was Dave Wright with a score of 33 point
Gold Class 2nd place was Ken Styan with a score of 34 points. Gold Class 1st place was Ian Johnstone with a score of 39 points
