They came out together, and Julian kissed Lila. Lila then held Julian's hands and gazed into his eyes.
Jia then hugged her grandson and told him how proud she was of him. Julian hugged her back, trying not to cry. His mom and dad had passed when he was a kid, and grandma Jia had raised him since then. Lila was the same, her parents had passed when she was a teen, and she's lived with her aunt and uncle. They're in Windenburg, so Lila and Julian made plans to take the kids and Jia and visit them once the kids are a bit older.

Hiiii Ali! 🤗 It was so hard to choose but i'll have to go with the bthb trail of blood fic (insert blood drop emoji here which i cannot find for the life of me lmao)
(Ps i hope you'll have fun at pride!🤩)
Hi Lilla! I did have fun at Pride - I miraculously avoided getting sunburned when we were standing around in an open field for like 2 hours waiting for our turn in the parade, but it was good to meet a few new people from the office and their friends :)
A wee snippet for you!
Seeing Evan’s jeep parked in front of his house fills Tommy with far too many butterflies for a man in his forties, but this is the first time since Tommy gave Evan a key to his place that Evan hasn’t texted first to make sure it was okay to come over. You’re allowed to come over whenever you want, Tommy had said the third time Evan had checked with him. That’s why I gave you the key in the first place.

Best books I’ve read this year: end of year edition
I read a lot of great books this year so it’s really hard to narrow down my favorites, but here are some I read during the past six months that I most enjoyed. (You can read part one here).
Best new releases: fiction
Not a ton of novels I loved but I thought Afghan American author Jamil Jan Kochai’s short story collection The Haunting of Hajji Hotak was absolutely stellar.
Honorable mentions: Flight by Lynn Steger Strong and Small Game by Blair Braverman.
Best new releases: nonfiction
Partisans by Nicole Hemmer - argues convincingly that Trump was the natural evolution of decades of reactionary GOP politics, not an abberration.
Ducks by Kate Beaton - amazing graphic memoir by the Hark, A Vagrant writer about working in the Alberta oil sands to pay off her student debt. An incredible portrait both of what it’s like growing up working class in a small town and the sacrifices that entails and the trauma of being one of the few women in a very harsh working environment.
Strangers to Ourselves by Rachel Aviv - fascinating series of vignettes by one of my favorite New Yorker writers exploring different people’s perceptions of mental illness and how we can become trapped in our own narratives.
By Hands Now Known: Jim Crow’s Legal Executioners by Margaret A. Burnham - this was hard to stomach because of the depth of cruelty it described but is well worth reading to understand just how all-encompassing a reign of terror Jim Crow was for black Southerners.
Getting Me Cheap: How Low Wage Work Traps Women and Girls in Poverty by Amanda Freeman and Lisa Dodson - Damning Indictment of how this country treats poor people and how women and girls, particularly single mothers, bear the worst burden.
We Need to Build: Field Notes for a Diverse Democracy by Eboo Patel - I would get every left-of-center person to read this if I could.
Honorable mentions: His Name Is George Floyd by Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa and Bad Jews by Emily Tamkin.
Best fiction (non new)
I ended up reading a lot of fiction by 20th century European authors, and particularly loved The Radetzky March by Joseph Roth, The Post-Office Girl by Stefan Zweig, Everything Flows by Vassily Grossman and The Years by Annie Ernaux. Reading these felt like getting a little tour of the century, particularly of how radically modern Europe was shaped by WWI and WWII.
Boy Parts by Eliza Clark and In a Lonely Place by Dorothy Hughes were my two other favorites, and are of a pair in that they’re refreshing (despite being over 60 years old in one case) takes by woman writers on a specific style of novel and make incredible use of an unreliable narrator.
Best nonfiction (non new)
I continued to read a lot of nonfiction about abortion and most appreciated The Girls Who Went Away by Ann Fessler, which details the human cost of the “baby scoop” era and Beggars and Choosers by Rickie Solinger, which criticizes the shift from rights to choice-based language in discussions of reproductive politics.
I also really enjoyed Mark Lilla’s The Shipwrecked Mind about reactionary politics, which honestly felt like a better version of The Decadent Society and Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong, which was written before the pandemic and felt extremely prescient about a lot of the discourse of the past few years.
Best poetry
I didn’t read a ton of poetry that really grabbed me but I enjoyed Sherry Shenoda’s The Mummy Eaters, which explores the author’s Coptic Egyptian heritage. From previous years, I enjoyed Philip Metres’ Shrapnel Maps and Richie Hofmann’s Second Empire.

Chapter 5
After the Mariah Carey highly embarrassing dance episode, I planned on never returning to Valentine’s Grocery for the remainder of my humble existence.
Unfortunately, Adam happens to favor their store brand ice cream. He’s been bugging me for three weeks. Three weeks.
Today, he finally broke this horse.
I’m sorry, but what exactly is stopping this man from going to get his own ice cream?
The corner of his mouth lifts. My knees aren’t faring so well. He notices my hesitation, picking up the phone behind him by the register, he presses a button.
“Attention customers, we are featuring a special in the frozen food section. With every purchase you make today, Mariah Carey will dance for you.”
He was complaining that he’d get fired if the customers pawed through the produce… yet then he makes this whole-ass announcement when he sees Lilla next.
“Your cookies are no doubt melted.”
They’re Thin Mints, not ice cream. Exactly how hot was your car that it melted them into goo?
“My father owns this place.”
[...]
“You don’t like working for your family?”
Yes actually! I want to spend the rest of my life sorting produce and explaining to Karens that their coupon expired 3 years ago.
“Can you go tonight? Or do you have to hurry home to hear your husband ridicule that basil plant?”
To be honest, I’m not quite sure that Adam would notice if a basil plant suddenly appeared on the kitchen windowsill.
“I invited you to the park on that premise,” he says, before tucking the music back into his ear. I’m not looked at or acknowledged again as he goes back to work, lining up all the herb plants for display.
Chapter 5 summary: Lilla is determined to never go back to the store (which is in another town anyway, so it’s not really that big of a problem). But Adam starts nagging her about buying the ice cream brand from the store, so she eventually breaks down and goes to get some.
As she’s checking out, Cash embarrasses her by making a store-wide announcement about dancing in the aisles. He then tells her that he has the Thin Mints that she’d purchased before walking into the store. They go out to his car to get them, and they start making the most awkward small talk. He invites her to come to some park where he likes to hang out when he isn’t working. Lilla says her husband is hardly the kind of man who simply hangs out at parks… that he isn’t romantic.
Later, Lilla goes back to the store to do her usual shopping. She runs into Cash again, and she basically unloads how terrible her husband is. That she’s always wanted a garden, but Adam thinks that it’s a waste of money. That she’d simply kill it all anyway. Cash doesn’t know why she’s so nice to somebody who’s so terrible to her, and wonders what she’d do for somebody who was actually nice to her. However, Lilla says that somebody would have to be nice to her first.
Chapter 6
I glance over my shoulder. His face is staring at my back. I feel my hair move. He plays with a section of it. The tips. Slowly winding it around his long finger, then letting go to repeat again and again.
Kind of an odd thing to do to a woman that you barely know. Whom you know is married.
Even glancing at the cover tells everybody that this is an affair novel. But at the same time… Why are we rushing into things?
We can either have a woman having a passionate fling with some random guy she met. Or we can have a slow-burn romance. This story seems pretty incompatible with having both.
“Hey there, I happen to be fond and in need of those billboards. Advertising is sort of my shtick. Well, it used to be anyhow, before the economy took a dive.”
[...]
“I dubbed a hamburger a bimbo, for a ‘Mom & Pop’ diner in Blossom. That is not exactly a Mona Lisa.”
Wait wait wait… Come back here and explain why a hamburger is a “bimbo”! How dare you drop this and not explain what this means!
Cash walks us over to the edge of the lake. The water is perfectly still, a mirror to the sky above. He tugs on his shirt, pulling it over his head. It’s cast aside, to the grass. One shoe. Two shoes. I swallow as his fingers unfasten the button of his pants. He strips down to his underwear and I look towards the lake.
In a fucking public park? Have you fucking seen the water in those parks?
“Wherever you take me, Cash.”
Chapter 6 summary: Lilla later meets Cash at the park he’d mentioned. And I feel like I missed an entire chapter… One where she tells him that she hates her husband and wants to have a passion-filled affair with a stranger. Because he’s being awfully forward for no real reason. Especially knowing full-well that she is married. Like dude… learn some fucking boundaries.
Anyway, he talks some about how much he fucking hates working for the grocery store. Lilla talks about what her job had been, but that… The implication that there’s no more need for advertising anymore is kind of odd, I’m not going to lie.
Cash then walks over to the lake and strips down to his underwear. Lilla eventually does the same thing, but I don’t think that they actually get into the water. Instead, they stand on the bank and Cash asks her where she’d go if she could go anywhere. She talks some about Adam being angry about the ice cream, but eventually agrees to go wherever Cash goes.

4 aug Santiago - Santiago

(hi sorry im late but!) utopia, answer, star 1117, fever and oh one day at a time ofc 💖
Questions from here :) Ty for sending an ask!! <3
· Answer: what is your favorite ateez performance? This!!! I don't know a lot of performances ig, i'm still catching up on the last 5 years of #content. But!! this one is SO good, and i'm so proud of them!! it's wild how hard they're slaying the vocals while dancing :')
· Star 1117: you have 24 hours with your bias. what is the thing you are doing first? - Wooyoung and Seonghwa: Clothes shopping :3 - Mingi and Yeosang: Go to an amusement park and have fun :)) But I'd love that with Woo and Hwa as well. For all of them, the important bit is that it's smth that can be a topic of conversation as we do it so we can chit-chat casually and it's not like an interview where i just grill him about what it's like to be an idol xD After the initial thing, i'd also want them to meet my dog Lilla and see my art! Maybe sing together since i'm lil bit of singer too. Tbh i'd want them to teach me some dance moves too, that'd be fun i think, even though i'd be so so embarrassed. Oh oh!! Also I'd love to watch ateez' MVs with them and tell them my fave songs and what i love in each one. it'd be a longass session :')
· Fever: what sort of concept do you want to see ateez try? i would love for them to do a mv that's like a medieval(ish) fantasy thing ;u; some of them would have littel elf ears, Wooyoung would be a horny bard, Yeosang would be a sorcerer.. . i don't think they'd ever do this but God i want that so bad. something that's epic in the original meaning of the word pff<3 i love fantasy things like that, and i think they would slay.
· One Day At A Time: free question. take things one day at a time and don’t be too hard on yourself. i love you 💕 :')) love you tooooo and i hope you're taking your own advice eheh <3

The Abandons, Kurt Sutter’s Western action drama for Netflix, has added six as series regulars: Lucas Till (MacGyver), Nick Robinson (Maid), Diana Silvers (Booksmart), Lamar Johnson (The Last of Us), Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale), and Natalia del Riego (Hail Mary).
Till plays Garret Van Ness, with Robinson as Elias Teller, Silvers as Dahlia Teller, Johnson as Albert Mason, Franciosi as Trisha Van Ness, and Del Riego as Lilla Belle. As previously announced, Lena Heady and Gillian Anderson lead the cast, as Fiona Nolan and Constance Van Ness, respectively.
Created and exec produced by Sutter (Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C.), who also serves as showrunner, The Abandons follows a group of diverse, outlier families pursuing their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, as a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, “justice” is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.
Sutter EPs for SutterInk. Additional executive producers include Stephen Surjik, Otto Bathurst, Emmy Grinwis, and Jon Paré.
Best known for producing and starring in CBS’s MacGyver, Till has also been seen in multiple X-Men films, Park Chan-wook’s thriller Stoker, and Jackie Chan action comedy The Spy Next Door, among other projects.

Cradle National Park
Today we left Barrington and headed to Strahan. The craggy ranges close to Barrington were stunning in the early light and we also went through some interesting place names including "Promised Land" so I wonder if Elvis ever visited here?
Our plan was to do a stop at Cradle National Park and to do a walk. We bought a national park pass for Tasmania as we will definitely make use of it and caught the shuttle bus through the park to Dove lake where we had a lovely view of Cradle Mountain itself. we then walked back to Ronney Creek via Lake Lilla. We saw a lot of wombat poo but we didn't see any though we did have a bird virtually land on us, clearly after food. We also heard the frogs and saw lizards. The walk was about an hour and thankfully the rain held off as it did look threatening at one stage. The latter part of the walk was a board walk over marshland.
Then it was back through the park on the shuttle, a quick bite to eat and then back to the car and our onward journey to Strahan. We had originally thought of seeing the Tassie Devils here but decided to plough onwards whilst the weather was fine and see them in a later location.
The scenery was very mixed with pine forests in places and massive tropical ferns in other places. some of the roads were Romanesque straight and other as windy as a switchback so it was a real day of contrasts.
When re arrived in Strahan it was a very small town by comparison to places we have been so far, really small given just how far it is to anywhere else. There's just one small grocery store, a couple of restaurants a post office and thats it so we had to go to the Tourist Information to find out info on where to buy beer, get money and we bought tickets to the play which we will see tomorrow after our boat trip. Its all about the convicts from the penal colony that we are visiting tomorrow!
Back to our apartment and washing day!

The top activities in Sweden to make your evening truly memorable
Going on an evening excursion in Sweden is like taking a trip into a magical world where everything is designed to make an unforgettable impression on you. The evening in Helsingborg, a seaside treasure, unfolds against the Oresund Strait, providing stunning vistas and a calm ambiance ideal for a promenade.
As dusk draws in, Gamma Stan in Stockholm, with its cobblestone lanes and old buildings, changes, giving the area a feeling of being frozen in time. The exploration of Sweden's rich past is made more enticing by the enchanting touch of the lit façades of centuries-old buildings. Leasburg Diversion Park in Gothenburg provides a lively nighttime retreat for thrill-seekers. With its bright lights, thrilling rides, and energetic atmosphere, the amusement park comes to life, making it the perfect place for fun with the whole family or a memorable night out.
The Northern Lights, a celestial masterpiece, appear like a canvas at Abisko National Park in the far north. The brilliant hues that fill the skies over Abisko as night falls make it an ideal place to see the magnificent Aurora Borealis dance—a really amazing and unique phenomenon. Whether you choose to take in the historic charm of Gamla Stan, indulge in the attractions of Lisaberg, stroll along the waterfront in Helsingborg, or see the Northern Lights in Abisko, Sweden offers a wide range of evening activities that are sure to turn your evenings into unforgettable experiences that last long after the sun goes down.
Here are some of the top activities in Sweden to make your evening truly memorable.
1.Helsingborg: One of Sweden's most well-known tourist destinations is Helsingborg. As a port city, it is situated near the Lund peninsula's body of water. The city is mostly renowned for its historical sites, which include the well-known Gothic church of Sankta Maria Kyrka and the medieval fortress of Kärnan. Several Swedish and Danish antiquities are on display in the outdoor museum known as Fredriksdal. The city's waterfront edge is renowned for its stunning promenades.
2.Gamla Stan: dates as far back as the thirteenth century; therefore, you can only imagine how many old buildings there would be scattered across the area. This village is surrounded by medieval lanes, cobblestone streets, and historic buildings. Renowned for its "Old Town" vibe, Gamla Stan is the location of the iconic Stockholm Stock Exchange Building. Gamla Stan is also known for its plaza, which has striking historical similarities. This location is highly respected since it was the scene of the Stockholm Bloodbath, in which Christian II, the Danish king, slaughtered Swedeish noblemen. The little town of Stockholm is home to around 370 properties with archeological significance, many of which are worthwhile tourist destinations.
3. Lisaberg Diversion Park: You can't help but wonder for a minute what make-believe is when you enter Scandinavia's biggest theme park. The experiences you will gain here are authentic and fantastic, of course. You will have no shortage of things to enjoy at the park, from spooky Halloween festivities to vertiginous rides, and from bizarre dancing to melodic music. Family evening picnics may be enjoyed at a number of picturesque locations inside the park that are studded with vibrant flower beds, waterfalls, and lush foliage. Fans of music may see fantastic performances at Liseberg Theatre, Rondo, and Kaninscenen, or they can rock out with the top performers on the stages of Lilla Scenen and Stora Scenen.
4. Park Abisko National: A portion of the well-known Abiskodalen mountain valley is home to Abisko National Park. The biggest alpine lake in the whole Scandinavian area of northern Europe is located here. The park is a well-known location to see the rare alpine flora and fauna.
You will have a breathtaking view of the tall hills on the northern boundary that are covered in greenery in the summer and covered in snow in the winter. Snowmobiling, dog sledding, and photography are among the most popular and thrilling evening activities, making it one of the greatest locations in Sweden.
5.Oland: Öland, the second-biggest island in Sweden, is sometimes referred to as the Stone Coast or the region of Stenkusten. Many find it to be a paradisal gateway because of the area's allure and atmosphere. The southwest is dominated by vast, open meadows, with some deciduous woodland covering found somewhat farther in.
In the distance, towering cliffs can be seen, which contrast well with the island's stone shore. The island is distinctive because exposed limestone makes up the majority of its surface. It boasts over seventy-five distinct natural areas, historic ruins, and rack fields.
Finally, the variety of fascinating nighttime activities available in Sweden reveals a tapestry of memories that last long beyond dusk. Sweden has a lot to offer, from the magical Northern Lights in Abisko to the ancient beauty of Gamla Stan and the unique experiences in Jukkasjärvi. Each activity offers a different mix of action and tranquillity as the waters of the archipelago shimmer beneath the evening sun and the wildlife of Värmland comes to life.
The secret to gaining access to these activities for those departing from India for their Swedish vacation is obtaining a Sweden tourist visa from India with ease, thanks to services like Sweden Visa from Delhi. Every night becomes a new chapter in a novel that is set against the backdrop of Sweden's breathtaking scenery and rich history, thanks to the cultural immersion and the kind Swedish hospitality.
Explore the charm of Sweden's nights, whether it's via the thrilling sport of dog sledding in Lapland or indulging in the gastronomic treats of Malmö. The trip from India to Sweden is enriched and unique thanks to this Scandinavian gem, which not only offers a wide range of activities but also a blank canvas for each visitor to draw their own special experiences on.

INTRODUCING ZEKE WOLF. A SHIFTER FROM AMITY PARK.
Growing up with a pack of shifters was always normal for Zeke. Not much phased him growing up because he’d sorta seen it all. That didn’t mean he didn’t want to experience the type of normal that would be weird to his family. When hunters came for his family it was traumatic, sure, but it also taught Zeke a valuable lesson. You’re born to die. It’s something he’s lived by ever since, going as far as getting the words tattooed on his skin.
For a lot of people seeing half of your pack/family get slaughtered would be pretty devastated. Zeke didn’t mourn the way others did. He saw his purpose was revenge. As he grew into his strength he began to brutally slaughter the hunters that killed so many of his own.
Meeting Colin Hopper was something that would change his life forever. His loyalty to the man is undying and although Zeke has opinions on some of the things he does he knows better than to voice them out loud.
He left his family first chance he got to work with Hopper, settling into Amity Park to blend in. He thrived off of the power that came with working for Hopper and only held back when told. In truth, Zeke was very sadistic and when he killed it wasn’t pretty. With his heightened senses and ability to rip someone’s throat out he has the power to fulfil the job he was assigned.
The Puckett family was the worst thing that ever happened to him. Zeke had been so confident that he could pull it off, he always did. Then that pathetic baker walked in as Zeke literally had Lilla and her grandmother in his grasp. The worst part of that all wasn’t spending a bit of time behind bars. No, he can’t remember where that damn cottage is and all he wants to do is find it and finish the job. Unfortunately, Hopper put a hold on that but Zeke is itching to take his plans out and get the job done this time.
He truly wonders if something happened that night that could be…bad. He knows his claws were out and he remembers the smell of blood. He can’t help but wonder if the young girl was hurt in the cross fire or if he’s just overthinking it. It drives him insane and some nights he has dreams about it and what could be.
Even at a young age Zeke loved stories and writing. He would read a lot and though he wasn’t the best at coming up with his own ideas he was able to tell other’s in a way that would make even the biggest skeptic believe. Sure, sometimes he skews the truth once in a while but that’s mostly to keep Hopper’s name on the down low. He quite enjoys his side job as a journalist and extra money is something Zeke would never complain about.
In the free time he has he does enjoy reading still as much as he loves going out. The minute he got a taste of the nightlife he never looked back. He enjoys drinks and, he works for Hopper so drugs are often involved. It really depends on his mood on if he’d rather stay home and read or go out and have a few drinks or so. The man is a man of pleasure and has no problem in indulging in the finer things in life. Being on Hopper’s payroll has always helped with that.
He doesn’t like having a lot of attention on him, given his line of work. He lives in a humble house and doesn’t do much to draw attention to himself unless someone pushes him over the edge. He prefers to lurk in the shadows and attack at the perfect moment.
