Staking A Claim | Reggie Mantle
Tumblr media
[gif is not mine; all credit to the creator]
Word Count: 1K
Pairing: Reggie Mantle x Fem!Reader, 2nd person POV
Description: Nobody knows the two of you are dating, until Reggie decides to stake a claim
Warnings: implied sexy things, sneaking around, intimidation
A/N: I’ve written something similar for Frausto from All American, but I wanted to change it up and reuse the idea. No spoilers, as this is just a snippet of time that takes place at Riverdale High and I’m only on season 3 of the show
- - -
You stepped out of the women’s locker room after football practice, your sore muscles aching with every step. You were snug in Reggie’s ‘Riverdale Bulldogs Football’ hoodie, the thought of wearing it in plain sight giving you a little thrill. Nobody knew the two of you were together, and if anyone were to ask about the slightly bigger size to the hoodie, you knew you would just lie and say you’d ordered a bigger size because you wanted it. Not that anyone would ask you about it; being the only girl on the football team was enough to intimidate about two-thirds of your class. It didn’t matter that you were only on the football team because there wasn’t anyone else who’d scored more points than you - or because you wanted the off-season practice outside of soccer - running with the football team gave you a different kind of power in the Riverdale High hierarchy.
Hot Killer by Julia Wolf played through your headphones as you sauntered down the hall to the student lounge, hoping to grab a VigorAde from the vending machine before heading home. You made no acknowledgement of the people there, heading straight for what you wanted.
*~*~*~
“D’you think she can hear us?” Kevin Keller asked, eyeing your turned back.
“Even if she can, what makes you think she’d say anything to us?” Betty shot back, looking to her boyfriend for some support.
“Sometimes I wonder if she realizes that people think she’s scarier than Cheryl Blossom, pre-Toni,” Jughead mused, running a soothing hand up and down Betty’s thigh.
Reggie shifted uncomfortably in his seat, hoping he wasn’t giving anything away. “Guys, she’s not that bad. Serious and intense, yes, but not that bad.”
Archie scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Normally, I’d agree with you about one of our teammates, but she’s just built different. I don’t care that she’s the main reason we beat Centerville last week or that she’s captain of the women’s soccer team when the season is over, I agree with Jug: she’s scary.”
“I’m telling you you’re wrong.” Reggie could feel his anger and frustration rising, unsure why he wanted people he considered friends to like her.
Veronica arched a perfectly-manicured eyebrow. “Methinks the football player doth protest too much.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Reggie huffed, leaning forward. His gaze flickered to your back for the briefest of moments but of course Veronica caught that.
“Vee is right,” Betty muttered, sitting up a little straighter as she put her detective brain to good use.
“What aren’t you telling us, Reg?” Archie prodded, joining in on the questioning.
“I-”
*~*~*~
You smiled to yourself when your favorite flavor of VigorAde dropped down from the machine. You opened it, taking a long swig as you debated whether or not to grab something to eat. It was a stall tactic more than anything; you knew when people were talking about you and this time was no exception - except for the fact that your secret boyfriend happened to be among them.
Your playlist started on the next song, but you subtly pressed pause, wanting to be able to hear what was going down behind your back. You could hear Reggie defending you, your heart constricting at the warmth spreading through your chest. Betty and Veronica were right, you thought, taking another drink of VigorAde, Reggie was definitely protesting too much for someone claiming to just be defending a teammate.
“What aren’t you telling us, Reg?” You heard Archie ask as you finally turned around.
Your gaze met Reggie’s as he opened his mouth to respond. “I-”
“He isn’t lying to you, Andrews,” you cut in, drawing attention to yourself now. “There’s nothing to tell.”
Reggie’s eyes narrowed as he studied you, and you couldn’t tell if he was hurt or confused or both. The two of you had previously made a pact to keep your relationship a secret, but lately he’d been hinting at the possibility of going public. “Like hell there isn’t,” he growled, standing up and stalking towards you. To anyone else it would be scary or intimidating, but you knew Reggie better than anyone - even Moose, he’d confessed to you one - and knew that this was all just for show. He reached out and placed a hand on your cheek so softly that it took every ounce of your willpower not to close your eyes and lean into his touch. “Care to tell the truth?”
Calmly, you reached up and grabbed Reggie’s wrist, taking his hand off your cheek. “You really wanna do this right here, right now?”
Reggie shrugged, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “It’s as good a time as any, I’d say. Unless you’re scared?”
The challenge in his tone had you rising to the occasion, always fighting to prove yourself and Reggie knew that. “Me? Scared? Never.”
“Prove it,” Reggie smirked, both hands grabbing your hips and pulling you flush against him. “Kiss me. Show everyone you’re mine and I’m yours.”
“Okay, okay,” Kevin’s voice rang out as he stood up, reminding you that it wasn’t just you and Reggie in the student lounge. “This has gone on long enough, and I, for one, don’t want to be witness to whatever the hell this weird sexual power dynamic is that’s happening.”
You rolled your eyes. “Oh shut up, Keller.” That interruption had been all you needed to get your shit together, dragging Reggie down for a public heated kiss.
When the kiss ended, Reggie pressed his forehead against yours as he tried to catch his breath. “Fuck,” he whispered, swallowing hard, “that was-”
“I know,” you replied, giggling. “Guess the cat’s out of the bag now, huh?” You peered over your no-longer-secret boyfriend’s broad shoulders to marvel at the shocked faces in front of you. “What are you all gawking at?!” You questioned, your intimidating persona back with a vengeance.
The group got up to leave and Reggie turned to his friends. “I’ll catch up with you later.”
Once it was just the two of you alone in the student lounge after hours, Reggie took your hand and led you to the couch, sitting back and manspreading so you had no choice but to straddle him. His hands returned to your waist, sliding up underneath his hoodie. “Now,” he murmured, his voice thick with lust, “where were we?”

Hey
Favourite riverdale episodes from any season??
Hello there👋 Thank you so much for the ask!
Ok so:
Season 1:
I’m gonna have to go with either 1x06 or 1x13 for very obvious reasons.
Season 2:
I’m gonna go with either 2x12 or 2x22 for obvious reasons (again).
Season 3:
i’m gonna go with 3x16 not only because of bughead (even tho they are the main reason) but also because this episode was actually enjoyable for me.
Season 4:
This is a tough choice but I guess I’m gonna have to go with 4x07, 4x16 and 4x19 because in 4x07 we got to see cute and domestic bughead (and even cute choni which was amazing) while also seeing them as the investigative duo we fell in love with in season 1. 4x16 because we got to see Betty and Jughead being (again) the investigative duo we fell in love with in season 1 and we got to see them unravel the mystery together (and it was also one episode before the cursed episode that ruined the show forever but I refuse to believe that any episodes after 4x16 exists aside from 4x19 so it was also a very good show finale). 4x19 because we got to see dark!Bughead which was everything I dreamed it would be. It also showed us why bughead are perfect for each other. When Jughead wrote the story (where him and the gang kill their principal and then Reggie, Cheryl and Veronica start to feel guilty and Betty and Jughead start killing off their friends so they wouldn’t get caught) and showed it to Betty she didn’t get scared or something like that, she was actually on board with it and loved it (she also got horny but that’s beside the point). So basically what I’m saying is that this episode was amazing and showed us why bughead are soulmates.
Season 5:
I only watched 4 episodes from season 5 but I’m gonna have to go with 5x17 because this episode kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was the first time in a very long time that I actually enjoyed an episode of Riverdale and also because this episode had so much bughead in it that I actually believed they were gonna get back together soon (but then the CW thought about the 5 episode event and crashed my dreams).
Season 6:
I only watched one episode from season 6 and that episode was 6x05 so I’m gonna pick that one (also, bughead In that episode>>>>>>).
if there are any mistakes, spelling errors or anything of that sort then I’m sorry. English is not my native language❤️

Are you confident Bughead will be endgame on this show? That’s literally the last strand I’ve been holding onto, but the thread is weakening. I really can’t believe that they would take this ship, their absolute most popular and loved one, and just end it like this forever. I am so angry with the writing!!
Hey there, anon! It is unbelievable, isn’t it?
What a tricky question you ask! confidence + prediction + the Riverdale writers ... As Jughead would say: yikes!
The thing with these writers is that they use a lot of words without knowing their meaning. “Endgame” is one of them. “New” is another. “Exciting”. “Darkness”™. “Adult stories”. “The message”…
Dangling the bughead “endgame” carrot at the end of one or two seasons of no bughead or -worse- of b*rchie and j*bitha f.e. is not an endgame. The general definition of endgame -outside of chess- is: the last stage of a process. If the process (i.e. the season’s content) isn’t about bughead, then bughead coming together at the very end is not an endgame, it's a peripeteia i.e. a sudden or unexpected reversal of circumstances.
In shipping, endgame is a couple that will inevitably end together (for ever and ever and ever). In order for something to be inevitable, you have to create that sentiment, you have to build the couple up.
There’s an article about the misappropriation of the word “endagame” that I find particularly funny, as it starts by mentioning Riverdale!
Anyway, this is a long-winded way to say that, yes, I do believe that the show will end with bughead and varchie as their main canon couples. It’s just that, like you, I’m so very tired with these story lines. There is satisfaction to be had at the notion of endgame but a seasonful of investigative bughead would be infinitely preferable. For me (and I can only speak of myself) the journey is more important than the destination -even if for the simple reason that -in TV show time- it lasts longer!
Why do I think bughead is still … that word? Everything’s under the cut, so as not to clutter your dash!
1. A lot of people have been theorising that what happened in 5x18 was not the original plot. I agree.
Let’s start with 5x18 varchie.
Their break up came completely out of left field. Its unexpectedness is reminiscent of 4x17. I make fun of how s5 is a reboot of s1+s2’s leftover ideas, so another copy-paste shouldn’t feel out of place, and yet … really? Another repetition? To what end? If the season’s goal was not varchie, b*rchie was already there waiting at the beginning of the time jump! Why abandon that plot? In terms of romantic varchie time, that was extremely limited, since after their kiss in 5x7, Veronica’s divorce kept them apart until 5x17 … Why have Archie being extremely jealous of Chad, Veronica getting involved in all of Archie’s schemes (firefighters, bulldogs), Archie getting involved in Ronnie’s (rescuing daddykins) or Veronica telling her father she chooses Archie over him in 5x17? Also, for those who remember, there was this by the-writer-who-shall-not-be-named.
The reason of the break up is as ludicrous as Veronica moving into Archie’s childhood bedroom (with its effing slanted roof!) on the premise that long term the Andrews’ residence has more room! (By the way, I don’t know what surprised me more: that Veronica thought that Archie and uncle Frank would know who Ina Garten is or that Jughead didn’t.) Why is Veronica astounded by Archie’s involvement in the same activities he has been involved in all through the season?! For f***’s sake, she’s the one that gifted him the fire truck!
Ok. Now let’s give 5x18 j*bitha a try.
For me, 5x18 could either have gone bugheadwards or j*bithawards. J*bitha had some heartfelt talks, a hand touch, a hallucination and a kiss. Bughead had one unfinished heartfelt talk (the only one in the whole season for Betty), two shoulder touches, two hallucinations and Jughead attempting to reconnect with Betty (without specifying what his intent was, it's true).
While I do think that j*bitha is a ship that has been adequately teased, the way they were explored in 5x18 was … not underwhelming exactly (after all, they’re not my ship, so I didn’t have any expectations about them) but … maybe lukewarm is the word? They had but minimal dialogue, only enough to establish that Tabitha’s parents were in town. Then a song where Tabitha initially rejects Jughead, although she had been supportive before. Then another song, where the lyrics were heavily altered and didn’t make much sense anyway (we hadn’t been properly introduced to the Tates) but where the original lyrics were very compatible with Bughead’s history and state of being as of 5x17. The kisses were ok, I have no problem with the actors’ chemistry. But -and this is strictly a personal opinion- Jughead’s flirting scenes (not the make-out ones, you perverts!) with Cora were better and so was the j*bitha kiss in 5x10. For the 5x18 j*bitha to flow, more dialogue and more flirting was necessary (always a persona opinion). So, no, I don’t think j*bitha were supposed to sing what they sang in 5x18.
Production for s5 wrapped up one week after the official announcement of the 5 special episodes for Riverdale and The Flash: “we expect it will take us until Fall 2022 to get back to a regular schedule” was the official quote. Re-organising the cw’s overall schedule didn’t happen overnight. Yes, more likely than not, the writers knew about the specifics of s6a before shooting 5x18-5x19 and had time to re-write them.
2. The couples spoilers for s6 do not make sense plot-wise.
If the end-goal for 5x19-6x1 had been b*rchie, j*bitha and v*ggie all along, these were pairs already happening (except from v*ggie) at the beginning of the time-jump. As for v*ggie, last time we saw them, Veronica pulled a face when she heard that he had had (still has?) an affair with Hermosa. And what about Nana Rose?! (ok, that was a joke! ... or was it? 👀)
The majority of both the fans and the general audience are bugvarchie shippers. Teasing b*rchie and j*bitha as a means of maintaining the viewers’ interest in a will they/won’t they way, only works if the audience finally gets what they want. In this season. Not the next one! There is so much trolling one can take after all. In the space of 1.5 year (4x17-5x19) b*rchie will have been teased ... THREE times (and still lacking build-up)!
I cannot myself see b*rchie, j*bitha and v*ggie as endgame couples. For the audience to invest in them after 4 years of bugvarchie, the writers have to a) give j*bitha an absolutely incredible development that will surpass bughead and the cinematography to go with it (good luck with that) and b) undo Archie’s character (highly unlikely) and/or give Betty a lobotomy (at which point a lot of people will quit en masse, because Archie as The One All The Girls Want just doesn't resonate with the majority).
I have no idea if s6a is an AU or not. But if it’s not, no one will be left to watch 6b.
Can I guarantee a bughead endgame? Of course not. I have no idea how the minds of the Riverdale writers work. But I do think that Jughead and Betty getting back together is more than wishful thinking.
Fervently shipping Jughead/Betty, Jughead/his book and Betty/therapy, sincerely yours, @raymondebidochonlifechoices
I hope you have fun with the Riverdale universe regardless, dear anon. Riverdale has given us one of the most beautiful getting-together stories in s1 and lots and lots of beautiful canon bughead afterwards. Here's to many more! Much love to you!

I’m done with Riverdale.
I gave Riverdale and the writers of this show so many chances to fix their shit. I gave them so many chances to write better storylines, to stop with the repetitive shit, to stop writing the same boring couples every single season, to stop with the character assassination, to stop with the fan service, to try different relationships and refreshing dynamics, to stop destroying characters/couples for the sake of other characters/couples, etc. And the show just continues to let me down over and over and over again. Last night’s episode was the worst episode in Riverdale history. Relationships were destroyed left and right, characters were assassinated and written out of character. Archie was completely OOC in last night’s episode. He was a complete fucking asshole and prick. Archie in no way looked like the hero and protagonist of Riverdale. He didn’t live up to the values, ideals and standards that he claims to have. Instead, he came off as an unsympathetic, emotionless, disgusting, cheating, fickle piece of garbage douchebag. Archie Andrews is no fucking hero and the writers completely destroyed his character within 45 minutes and a single episode. He is irredeemable from my point of view and his character is beyond repair at this point. There is nothing that can fix that mess of a character. His treatment of women in general is disgusting and misogynistic. The way he treated Betty in 5x08 was absolutely abhorrent, degrading and despicable. He acted like he had zero emotions or feelings for her and that he just used her for sex. He then dumps her and runs back to the same toxic relationship with Veronica. Even after seven years, Archie hasn’t changed or grown at all. He’s still the same stupid and immature punk that he was in high school. FUCK ARCHIE ANDREWS. He’s THE WORST main character, lead, and protagonist I’ve ever seen on any show. Not even Elena Gilbert from TVD or Lucas Scott from OTH is as horrible or badly written as he is. Archie is much more of a villain than a hero. There’s nothing that the writers can do to make Archie a good character again. His character is beyond reproach and they should be ashamed to have a piece of shit like Archie leading their show. Veronica is acting like a thirsty, desperate, trampy whore throwing herself at another man while she’s still married and the ink hasn’t even dried on her divorce papers. She has revealed herself to be an extremely controlling, domineering, conniving, money hungry and manipulative bitch. She is so fucking detestable and unlikeable. I can’t root for her character. I actually HATE Veronica now and I never thought I would say that. The writers completely butchered her character just as badly as Archie’s. It’s evident that after five seasons, the writers don’t know what the fuck to do with her character but have her be Hiram’s chew toy or having her constantly chasing after Archie like some pathetic desperate hussy. She’s become the worst character on the show and she has had zero character development. All of her storylines are the same: they either revolve around her father or around men in general. Veronica is a shallow character that lacks complexity and depth. She is nothing more than Hiram Lodge with lipstick and a skirt/dress. As someone who is Latina, Veronica is a horrible representation of Latina and hispanic women in media. Veronica Lodge is an absolute embarrassment to the Hispanic and Latinx community and I’m ashamed of her character at this point. She doesn’t represent me and I don’t want her kind of character to represent my community. RAS and the writers clearly hate Camila Mendes. I can’t say that Camila’s acting is helping matters either. Betty is an emotionally unstable, whiny, pathetic doormat for Archie and a complete fucking emotional mess. She was nothing but a sex toy/booty call for Archie so that he could get his rocks off. As soon as the sex wore off, Archie and no problem with dumping her and throwing her away ;ike a dirty tissue. And Betty didn’t fight for herself. She didn’t fight for her feelings. She didn’t stand up to Archie for disrespecting her like that and using her. Archie used her for pleasure and than acted as if she were nothing to him. And Betty just fucking took it?? Why doesn't Betty just stand up for herself for once? Why doesn’t she stop being such a doormat for him and letting Archie stomp on her feelings all the time? Does she have no self respect? The one thing that makes Betty’s character somewhat salvageble is the fact that Lili Reinhart is an amazing fucking actress and for that, you can’t help but feel sympathy for her even if she’s being written as a pathetic doormat and Archie’s sex toy. Chad is a narcissistic, abusive POS who is Hiram 2.0. What was the purpose of his character on the show? Just to cause some tension between Varchie? What a waste of an actor and character. Jughead is a pathetic drunk and a lazy bum with no purpose. His sole reason for existing is to get drunk every episode, get abducted by aliens and be saved by girls. The writers are ruining my fave character on the show. Kevin is a cheating piece of shit. He has no clue what monogamy is or what a real relationship stands for and means. He’s nothing more than a walking and talking negative gay stereotype. Reggie was completely destroyed this season. They had him turn on his friends and side with Hiram, the town bully. Reggie is a complete douche and any character development he had in the earlier seasons has vanished. The writers butchered his character horribly and it’s a shame because Charles Melton is a decent dude and actor who deserves a better storyline and material. Cheryl is a sociopath with no remorse for her horrible behaviour and she treats Toni like garbage. I don’t know how Toni can stand being with her or around her. She doesn’t give a shit who she hurts in the process as long as she is creating chaos for her own amusement. Cheryl is a horrible person and the fact that she has had no development for hasn’t changed makes things worse. Also, it’s evident that Madeleine Petsch (along with the rest of the cast, LBR), is completely phoning it in all season. Her acting is terrible and cringeworthy. At this point, Cheryl is so awful and toxic that I don't think I want her to be with Toni or for Choni to reunite in the future. Toni deserves better than this red haired creature. Toni is, once again and as usual, being sidelined. I expected this to happen sooner than later. I figured that Toni would be relegated to a support character once more or to go back to being Cheryl’s punching bag. Though Toni being sidelined isn’t really her fault or the writers fault because Vanessa is on maternity leave. As if the characters haven't been destroyed, the relationships have been slaughtered and decimated left and right. Choni is toxic as fuck. Barchie was made out to be nothing of substance but sex (plus the way they got together is sickening including the cheating and the FWB plot line which amounted to nothing in the end). Bughead is an awkward repetitive and annoying bore with no chemistry. Varchie is the worst couple on the show, toxic as hell with no chemistry and takes up too much screen time. Kangs was destroyed for absolutely no reason. The only couple that has potential to be something great and substantial is Jabitha but considering the writers track record, I expect them to ruin them for Bughead. It’s only a matter of time. Tick tock. ⏰ To top it all off, the storylines are absolutely fucking ridiculous this season. Archie with his stupid overblown hero complex trying to save Riverdale? BORING. Hiram being the same boring villain AGAIN and trying to take down the same group of teenagers he was harassing seven years ago? REPETITIVE. The Mothman/Aliens storyline? We’re dealing with fucking ALIENS??? Aliens of all things? What the actual fuck are the writers smoking?! Then there’s the whole Polly storyline which is boring and repetitive.. Try something different for fucks sake. I’m not gonna get into the whole TBK nonsense which also reeks of repetitive storytelling. There's way too many plot lines and storylines being told and it’s a jumbled, incoherent mess. There’s only so much nonsense that you can take before you finally snap and say enough is enough. I’m at that point. For me to cut something or someone out of my life for good, it’s got to be something or someone really horrible. Riverdale is one of those things. Riverdale has made my viewing and fandom experience absolutely fucking miserable. It’s caused me significant upset and emotional distress because of how attached I was to these characters and relationships. Now it seems like it was all a waste. What was the point? Why did I stick around to watch the characters and the relationships on this show get butchered? The writers don’t know what the fuck they are doing. They continue to be stuck in the same rut and a time jump hasn’t fixed that. I’M DONE. There’s no more chances. The show is dead to me as are the Riverdale cast and the writers. The show should just end this season. Season 6 should either be cancelled or shortened to 10 episodes. Stop wasting the audience’s time with this garbage.

S1E2 A Touch of Evil
alternate title: all the out of pocket shit that happens in each episode of Riverdale part 2
I did this instead of my child studies homework. you're welcome <3
CW for adult/minor relationship
episode 2 opens with ANOTHER JUGHEAD MONOLOGUE and an alarmingly detailed shot of Jason Blossom's dead body (hot new info: he was shot in the head).
immediately after this we transition to shirtless Archie, who is feeling angsty because on July 4th he heard a gunshot but didn't say anything bc he'd been hooking up with his teacher at the time.
this is a good time to mention that obviously this is not a consensual relationship because he is a minor and she is an adult. thankfully, the show stops trying to make it aesthetic and cute and starts addressing how toxic and not-okay it is in this episode.
Betty is refusing to talk to Archie so instead he shows up at Ms Grundy's house (still with no shirt) to try to convince her that they need to tell the police what they heard. she tells him, "this is not a negotiation, Archie. if anybody knows that we were there, I could lose my job, you could be expelled, we could go to jail." there's.... a lot to unpack here, but thankfully Jughead does that for me later.
Betty's toxic mother Alice shows up to try to make her more upset with Archie and Veronica for "betraying her" over the weekend... which they did technically do when they kissed at a party, but Betty doesn't actually know that. Betty agrees with her and then goes to hang out with them anyway bc she's a girlboss.
Jughead shows up at Archie's locker to try to reconnect and there's really ominous music playing over the scene for no reason.
"what? sardonic humor is just my way of relating to the world" homie you need therapy shut up
Kevin has bounced back from finding Jason's body and is making sexual jokes about Archie again. also, he tells us that he's the sheriff's son, which is important later.
Veronica apologizes to Betty by sending her flowers and cupcakes and booking them a spa appointment, which is a really cute gesture until you remember they've been friends for two days.
the sheriff starts to tell the students that they've found Jason's body and that there's going to be an investigation over the loudspeaker, and Cheryl just steals the microphone from him to threaten the killer with the electric chair. honestly, good for her.
Archie and Cheryl are paired up for a frog dissection, and Archie offers to take the lead in case the dissection makes Cheryl uncomfortable. Cheryl responds, "why? you mean because my brother is being dissected with a blade just like this one, possibly at this very moment?" and then stabs the frog. I love her.
Kevin is hooking up with a guy called "Moose". just felt like you should know that.
Archie starts awkwardly singing at lunch, and Betty is so upset by this that she runs off. the feeling is mutual.
Jughead walks in on Archie and Ms Grundy making out in the music room, which they are doing despite the WINDOW INTO THE CLASSROOM.
Cheryl and Betty are hanging out, and Cheryl keeps asking questions about Betty's sister Polly, and eventually admits that she thinks Polly might be involved in Jason's murder. naturally, Betty responds by telling her, "Cheryl, get the hell out of my house before I kill you."
Archie tells Jughead what he heard on July 4th, prompting the first logical thought from any the main characters all episode: "a kid is dead, Archie!"
he also points out that, hey, she's not worried about your relationship, she's worried about GOING TO JAIL.
this scene smash cuts to Alice Cooper entering Betty's room with "sage, to banish the evil spirits!"
she then partially predicts the twist ending to the mystery of Jason's murder halfway through the second episode.
some football players ask Jughead if he's the killer, for no discernible reason other than that he wears dark colours.
"we're not gonna hug in front of this whole town. so why don't we do that bro thing where we nod like douches and mutually suppress our emotions?" Jughead please stop talking I stg
good news: it turns out that super talented musician and her girl group from the last episode is also the mayor's daughter. nepotism wins again!
bad news: we now have to watch a musical number and dance performance from Josie and the Pussycats and the cheer squad
Cheryl hallucinates that Archie is her brother bc apparently she's never seen another ginger play football before. this triggers a breakdown when Cheryl finally processes that Jason is truly gone. this scene actually made me tear up a little – for as bad questionable as the writing in this show is, the actors are very talented.
the next morning, Archie goes to tell the sheriff what he heard on July 4th, but the sheriff has already gone to arrest Cheryl (at school, for some reason). Jughead's narration tells us that Jason had not actually died on July 4th - he died over a week later.

Summary: Sweet Pea/Reader Request: reader was sexually assaulted by a friend of hers, & she distances herself from the friends, because they tell her that she’s lying & she opens up to sweet pea, maybe he comforts her? I just could use some comfort even in the form of sweet pea TW: Sexual Assault, Gaslighting, Verbal Abuse, Abusive Relationships/Friendships -Thoughts-  ~flashback~
You’re not sure what you were expecting when you’d gathered your friends at your usual hang out spot. You no longer shook at his presence but you weren’t expecting him to show up. Still you’d told them you had something important to say; with him there, his hand around your best friends waist had you shutting down. “Y/N, come onnnnnn you drag us all out here in the middle of the night for what? Is it about what happened at that party again? You know  Lance didn’t actually do anything, it was a dream is all.” -They were friends with him first, why would they believe you. Of course you were lying.- “I’m moving.” You shrug a little; not surprised when their faces don’t crumble. You’d barely been spending time with them after the party, after the incident as they’d called it. “When?” Lance tilts his head leering at you as he always seems to do now. “Three days.” “Where?” You shake your head.
“Close by apparently, job transfers and all.” You nod, they understand two of then had moved to the other side of town because of their parents getting job transfers. –Might as well lie about this, they think you’re lying about everything- Your parents hadn’t had any problem buying the trailer for you. They seemed relieved, being able to send you out of town to get away from your nightmares, your whining, -your lies- You’d discussed it with them, and they’d given you an ultimatum when you’d come home.
~~~You’re trying to sneak through your back window, of course your parents are awake, and of course Lance had called them saying how drunk you were, how high you’d gotten at the party. They don’t bother asking what happened, launching into a tirade about how irresponsible you are, how childish and immature. How you’re destroying any chance of a future for yourself. Your father spouts off about expecting you to end up knocked up from one of ‘these parties’. Your mother take a gentler approach compared to him. “How about this, there’s a nice covenant in Riverdale and-“ “I’ll go, but not to the sisters.” Your mother’s surprised at your agreement, your father beams. “We can get you one of those trailers, in that trailer park, we’ll pay for it, just keep your grades up. Three days to pack what you want.” He leaves after that, your mother does as well, you can hear them moving in their room and as you walk upstairs, head swimming and heart racing you catch yourself in the mirror. –Doesn’t even look like anything happened, just that you fell, you really did just get drunk and dreamed the whole thing up- You wake up the next morning, looking back in the mirror, you can’t help but cry, you’re shaking and dry heaving occasionally looking back into the mirror to catalogue the bruises and imprints he left against your skin. You decide about telling your friend, grabbing your first box and starting to pack your books.~~~
It’d taken you four days to move everything over and settle yourself in the trailer your parents had gotten; it’s in the back of the lot, barely still in the trailer park. You avoid any of your neighbors, trying your best to not panic as you make your way towards Riverdale High. You’re keeping your eyes on the floor. –They’re looking at you cause they know what you’ve done. You’re that liar that got thrown out from Centerville.- You cringe at your internal monologue, trying your best to shake it off, freezing when you crash into someone. “ You okay?” You look up, brushing yourself off and nodding, not looking at whomever you bummed into. “Sorry I didn’t mean to.”
“It’s no problem, where are you trying to find?” You look up into the boy’s face, hoping you’re not blushing, or if you are you can brush it off as the embarrassment from the fall. “Math, with-“ His hand nudges the schedule and you offer it to him. “Huh, you have almost all your classes with me, I can walk you to most of them, the only class you don’t have is science, but you have that with Fangs so-“ “Fangs?” You question and he beams. “My friend Fangs, I’m Sweet Pea, you are?” He holds his hand you for you to shake, handing you back your schedule. “Y/N.” “Did you just move here?”
“Yes, from Centerville.” “Centerville, Jesus, you glad you got out?” He whistles slightly and you sag in relief. “Yes, it was awful.” You relax, comforted by his similar reaction. “I can’t imagine, actually I don’t want to. Is it true that half of the main school have been in the corrections center?” “No, that would mean they got caught.” You offer a wry smile and Sweet Pea smiles back. “Well then, let’s hope none of them follow you here.” You laugh nervously nodding.
You’re thankful that Sweet Pea seems to keep you in his sights. It not hard considering you share all your classes so far. “So we can eat lunch with my friends if you want?” “Sure, sounds good.” –Don’t freak out. They’re not like yours were.- You follow Sweet Pea outside, toward a table with a group of guys in black leather; they’re joined by another group. You watch as they turn nodding to Sweet Pea. “Alright introductions then, everyone, this is Y/N. She moved from Centerville a few days ago.” You wave and the entire group at you.
“This is Toni and Cheryl, Cheryl’s Captain of the River Vixen’s, which feature, Veronica, Josie, and Betty; Betty’s dating Jughead, who’s leader of the Serpents, which includes Toni, Fangs, and me.” He gestures to each person as he names them. You wave to each of them and they wave back. “Is it a dumb question to ask what the Serpent’s are?” You’d heard whispers of them in Centerville but the rumors varied from an after school club to a prison run gang. “We’re a gang.” Fangs states and you nod, relieved at the open answer.
Sweet Pea had been the one to invite you to his trailer, you were nervous, but followed him in surprised when no one else was in. “You live alone?” “Yeah, it’s just easier, my parent’s have their own place I just wanted to stay.” He nods to the couch and you sit down watching him as he moves around his home. “Out of curiosity why did you move here of all places? Can’t have been for the ‘pep’ can it?” –Lie- “I uh, my parents were going to send me to the Sisters and-“You cringe at his frown. “Why?” -Lie to him. Lie to him.- “They thought it would be better for me.” –They didn’t want to deal with you; they were tired of the lies. Like your friends, like Sweet Pea will become.-
“Better how? Or is that one of those, not allowed to talk about it.” You shrug. “I just; I made some bad choices, got on the wrong track.” He drops the thread of the conversation instead asking how you’re finding Riverdale and how you feel about living in Sunnyside. He talks about himself telling you about chaining himself to his old school, and protesting about Riverdale trying to get rid of the Serpents.
It’s not long before Cheryl decides to throw a party for some reason or other, everyone is excited and you hope the terror you feel can be interpreted as the same. You arrive with the Serpent’s, specifically Sweet Pea, he’d insisted it was easier for everyone to carpool, and he had an extra helmet for his bike so it wouldn’t be a problem for you to ride with him. “Come on Y/N Cheryl’s parties get crazy it’ll be-“ Whatever he’s saying fades out, as you step forward.
~~~ “Seriously Y/N, it’ll be fine! No one will care you weren’t invited. Seriously just come in and have some fun!!” You offer a strained smile as you follow your friends stepping through the door to hear music blasting. You’re moving around the main room, cringing at the sound, you can’t hear your own thoughts, let alone anyone saying anything so when Lance appears holding out drinks for everyone, you think nothing of taking it. Everyone else is drinking why shouldn’t you.~~~
Sweet Pea holds something out to you and you recognize it as a water bottle. –Don’t take drinks from anyone, always watch your drink- You hesitate, but take it anyways, surprised when it’s sealed as you open it. “Come on everyone’s this way.” Sweet Pea herds you further in and you wait for his hand you touch your shoulder, to steer you where he wants you. –Upstairs to the bedrooms, god knows this place must have extra rooms no one will check in- He walks with you, hand hovering behind your back as you turn past the stairs and back through the kitchen to the backyard. You stare fearfully at the pool for a moment, stepping back, bumping into Sweet Pea’s arm.
“You okay?” –Lie.- “Fine.” You take a swig from the water bottle and notice how everyone’s gathered in a circle eating pizza. “Hey you two made it! Sorry about the secrecy Y/N, we usually do an inner circle party once a month!” Cheryl nods to you and you tilt your head. “Inner circle?”
“Yeah we’re all really close, we went through a lot together, you’re part of that now.” -They know, they know, they know.- “So, as usual Sins and Secrets time!! It’ll be interesting now since we have Y/N to confess to, and we get to hear her deepest secrets.” Toni laughs as Fangs explains the rules; Sweet Pea sits next to you. “Cheryl can go first to show you. Since it’s her party.” Toni nods. “I slapped Jughead when I thought his dad killed my brother.” You turn to the rest of them and they shrug. “That’s not that dark Cheryl..”
“I don’t want to scare her off. Come on Y/N confess.” –Lie, Lie Lie, if you tell the truth they’ll never talk to you again. You don’t have anywhere left to run, lie, lie lie.- “ I uh, I moved from Centerville because- I just-“ You swallow; you don’t realize someone’s arm is around you until they’ll pulling you closer. “Hey it’s okay, you don’t have to say anything.” You shake your head. “No you guys should know I’m a liar, get over with the realization you don’t want to be friends with me.” You swallow, shaking still as you look around at everyone.
“I left Centerville cause I lied about a lot of stuff, happening to me.” You can see Cheryl frowning, as do Veronica and Betty. “You lied about being sexually assaulted?” they guess and you nod, still shaking. “Why would you lie about that?” They sound upset, angry even. –You did it now, they’re going to hate you, might as well spill all of it.- “Well I mean we were dating so it’s not like it counted cause we were dating and even then I didn’t say no or anything I didn’t even try to leave.” –You tried to run he just was too fast, he didn’t want you to move, he gave you too much to drink, it wasn’t drugs they flushed out of your system too fast to be tested anyways.- “My, his friends agreed with him, it makes sense, I was just wanting attention cause he broke up with me, it wasn’t anything serious either way we just-“ You fade off watching everyone staring at you.
“Sorry, I just, I can leave it’s no problem for me to-“ “Fucking hell I can see why you left Centerville, full of rapists and people who look the other way.” You freeze. “What?” –No you’re supposed to hate me, I lied, I lied.- “That must have been horrible, I’m so sorry that happened to you.” “No, but it didn’t like everyone said I was just making it up, it wasn’t real so-“ –They’re angry for you. They want to hurt him as much as you do.- You quiet as they all seem to crowd you in comfort, Betty and Cheryl taking your hands and Toni awkwardly hugging you as Veronica nudges Sweet Pea away, you turn gripping for what you now know was his arm.
You’re not one hundred percent sure what the look they share is, but it flashes across all their faces and Sweet Pea offers to take you home moments later, you nervously grab a slice of pizza eating it as he leads you back out of the house and to his bike. “Hey, listen Y/N, I’m sorry all that happened to you.” You shrug. “I’m sure there’s been worse.” Sweet Pea sighs kicking the ground. “Just because there’s been worse doesn’t make what you went through okay.” You nod to him and he pulls you into a hug as he holds the helmet out to you.
You swing your leg over getting off as he pulls up to his trailer. “Sweet Pea, I, I didn’t tell them everything.” “Hey it’s okay, you don’t have to. It’s your choice to talk about it. “I, can I tell you?” He nods opening his door and sighing as you sit on the couch. He sits next you and you burrow under the blanket and into his side. He chuckles slightly and you smile up at him. “I’m here, you can tell me whatever you want.” You nod closing your eyes.
~Lance had brought you upstairs before leaving you to sit in the room for what felt like hours. You’d been confused, sluggish to respond when you’d felt the zip tie sliding against your wrist. “So you don’t run off and say anything.” His voice is distorted and you sit, sliding against the side of the bed trying to snap the tie off the post. You manage to dig it into your skin enough where you know it’ll leave a scar. Your knees are also bruised a product of trying to pull yourself free, using your own body as a counter weight. Lance returns laughing at you. His voice is echoing and you don’t realize its because he’s not alone. When he shoves you, jerking the tie back against your wrist and almost throwing you onto the bed is when you fall back into unconsciousness, whatever sedative combining with the drinks to knock you out.~
“What’s his last name?” Sweet Pea growls out and you shake your head. “Sweet Pea, please don’t he’ll know it was me.” “He’s going to need to answer for that, one way or the other. Serpent’s protect their own.” “That extends to friends?” You ask surprised, unsure how the Serpent’s manage to protect so many people. “Relationships.” “We’re not in a relationship.” You state confused when Sweet Pea seems shocked. “Sorry right, still, he’s going to pay for that.” “There’s more.” You reach for the water bottle on the table and Sweet Pea pulls it to you, you place it back on the table after drinking from it, shifting away from him slightly. “Y/N, come back, you don’t need to move away from me; I don’t think less of you.” You sigh shakily.
“You don’t need to tell me right now, take a break sweetheart, come here, come here.” He slowly reaches for you and you fold into his arms, as he tucks the blanket around both of you, you curl into him shaking as you sob. “They thought I was lying, they said they knew him best, they said-“ “Shhh, shhh love, it’s alright, it’s over, it’s over. You’re safe now.” You don’t bother nodding just sighing and laying your head on his chest. “Thank you.” You say as you start to drift off.
When you wake up you haven’t moved. Sweet Pea hasn’t either and you watch him for a moment trying his best to stretch his arm to grab at his phone, you reason his other hand would be far closer but it’s currently wrapped around you, you nudge him with your forehead and he turns. “You can move your arm, if you want.” “No.” He states and you frown. “It’s literally easier for you to do it with this arm, just move it.” You tug at the arm wrapped around you and he just tightens his grip.
“Just let got of me and I’ll grab it for you if you want.” Sweet Pea shakes his head pulling you back to his chest as you half struggle to get up. This causes you both to tip off the couch, you’re waiting for your head to smack against the floor but you open your eyes to see Sweet Pea smirking at you, your head cushioned by his arm. ‘See that’s why I didn’t want to move it.” “So it could get crushed by my head?” “No so it could protect you.” “Oh that’s dumb. I’m not-“ You close your mouth as he glares.
“If you say you’re not worth protecting I’m never letting you go.” “I’m not worth protecting.” You smile shyly, face flushed. “Was that serious or do you just want to mess with me?” “It’s semi-serious.” You counter and Sweet Pea shakes his head moving back to the couch nodding at you to do the same. “Semi-serious meaning.” “I’d very much like you to not let me go, but that’s just my preference.” Sweet Pea nods thoughtfully. “Come on.”
“Where are we going?” “Pop’s, it’s good one of our preference’s lined up, but now we have to see if others do.” “Pop’s the diner right?” He nods and you swing your leg over on his bike. “Please don’t tell me you’re going to judge me on my order.” “No just pay for it.” He shouts of the roar of his engine.

@ketty-b i put your ask under a cut, doll:
The thing I most hate from this episode is Jug’s interaction with the Serpents and with Archie.—i admittedly did think the serpent reaction was a little weird. i guess that some people were mad about his book, just not the ones we thought could be ( @stillhidden for the win!)
i understand it in a way but also not in other ways. this was a guy who was willing to die for them and was their leader. where’s the loyalty?
clearly the 10% of me that isn’t slytherin is hufflepuff.
I was hoping he’s gonna put distance between him and “core four” and will hung out with serpents instead 😭 the fact that they turn their backs on him and that he’s coming to live in Archie’s house is the worst for me.—i assume it’s all plot devices and narrative reasoning. they might want to start to rebuild the core 4 relationships and you can’t do that if he’s across town. the thing is, the show isn’t really about the serpents, it’s about betty, jughead, archie, and veronica. jughead’s arc seems like it’s going to be distant then connect back to the mains along with him.
I’m sure he’s the reason why b*rchie is discussed where they gonna meet for hookups.—probably.
And I’m agree with you that this is a trope for a drama between all of them, but I’m sad that right now I don’t see any longing feeling for him from Betty 🙁 she seems like she is get over it (I’m really hoping that writers gonna fix this in future episodes, but right now it looks like only the Jughead is still suffering, and I hate this). But I’ll be glad if you convince me to change my mind 😂—i think that people don’t take betty’s personality into account when it comes to her feelings for jughead. when archie rejected her in the first episode, she pretended she was fine the next day. until she couldn’t. as she’s gotten older and her traumas kept piling up, she just kept pretending to be fine. she didn’t even get to mourn her father publicly because of who he was so she held it in until she took it out on his headstone. didn’t she fake a whole ass therapist to keep her mother off of her back? does no one remember alice’s treatment of her? telling her to smile and take her meds? that environment doesn’t really say, please, tell us how you’re feeling. she’s currently lying to her therapist about her nightmares and it doesn’t look like anyone in riverdale knows she was kidnapped.
i know it’s hard when she’s standoffish towards jughead because it looks like his emotions bleed from his pores but i think her behavior is just as loud, in a different way because betty’s not the person to wallow in pain out loud. she’s going to do it silently, quietly, and hope no one notices she’s dying inside.
Anyway right now I just hope that we’ll have Juggie in the serpent’s jacket again!—i wouldn’t be surprised if we see it again but the glasses are oddly working for me, ha.

you probably have realized this but the way teen dramas treat latinas is so aggravating like theresa in the oc and anna in one tree hill (bi storyline included) were always treated (even veronica if we go by b*rchies reasoning) as an obstacle for the main guy to reunite with the main white girl or they just didn't exist. The treatment of veronica is worse cause she's one of the mains and idk i just cant see my favorite character be embarrassed by the guy who's supposed to be in love w/ her 😭😭
as a latina myself, i have realized it. i have spoken up about it several times whenever i get asked questions about why can’t i give b*rchie a chance or why i dislike b*rchie so much and i’ve had several people calling me out for saying what i said, that people should be able to ship whatever they ship without me saying they’re sexist or racist/xenophobe, but i still think that shipping ba in the context of riverdale and supporting the ~narrative~ their fandom supports is the ultimate fuck you for the portrait of a prominent latina character in the media. a character who was originally white and was turned into a latina only for her family to be criminalized, no other.
a lot more under the cut!
the other day me, @monica-posh (who’s black) and @archiercnnies (who’s another latina like me) had a very interesting conversation over representation and how we are always bound to be represented in the media by characters who are poorly written in an already poorly written show, “bitches”, “strong women that need no man”, or doormats who are always apologizing for stuff they sometimes never even did, or forgiving white characters for horrible stuff they have done without even getting a proper apology from the ones who wronged them. the short end of the stick gets shorter and shorter the darker the character’s skin is.
the oc and one tree hill were shows written in the early 00′s. i know this shouldn’t be an excuse, but it kinda is, considering how much the world evolved with the representation discourse since then. however, riverdale is from a very decade in a very different world and it was beautiful to see what a diverse cast they really were, until you actually watch it and realize how they write it. all pocs on riverdale at some point are turned into villains or antagonists to the three white straight mains. even veronica and her family have antagonized bh before. they are all written off without an explanation, killed, or given minor storylines that are carelessly written and forgotten.
granted, the ‘big bads’ have all been white so far... except hiram. whose main purpose is to be a mexican man who terrorizes the little perfect american town. and the mexican man’s daughter is the one who archie falls for interrupting the white boy-and-girl-next-door dream of being together. a daughter of immigrants is the problem of the little american town. i couldn’t make that shit up.
there’s the problem of the writing room, too. i googled and searched and i think even though ras is a latinx man, most of the other writers are white. and men. and it’s only getting whiter and more manly as the seasons progress. how can these writers ever stop and think wait, i am doing this and that and putting this latinx character in an embarrassing position? no, they don’t think that, they don’t think omg i am making two white kids embarrass a latinx girl, they think omg DRAMA. they can’t see it because it doesn’t affect them. we don’t have to go so far: if you ask a man reviewer what they want to happen to x couple in s5, they’ll say they want the girl to pine for the guy. if you ask a woman reviewer, they’ll say the contrary.
there’s a huge distance between the writers - white men - and me, a white latina woman. there’s an even bigger distance between the writers and the black girl. or the black trans person. etc. etc. and they don’t know how to write for us, because they don’t care. vanessa morgan had to speak out in public and jeopardize her job so she could see some alleged change happening. things are still changing. people are still trying to understand, from the top to bottom.
one thing that attracted me in riverdale and in varchie, specifically, is how archie was always choosing veronica and putting her first, despite her not being the girl-next-door. i have never seen on screen the narrative that the bas tried to conjure that she was only an obstacle, and i still don’t. i am always very upset with how veronica (and the lodges in general) is written and how they can’t even give her an original storyline that doesn’t revolve around her father, but i never thought this applied to archie and veronica and i still think it doesn’t. yes, it’s a very stupid writing choice that these writers took by making her sing a song that he’s written for her best friend in front of them? it is. but at the same time, i do not think this is what makes her an obstacle on their road or on his road to betty. i don’t think this is what the writers are trying to tell us, i really don’t, and i might be very disappointed about it in the end of it all, but the reason why they have veronica going through all this shit is because they don’t even realize how much it makes them look like they hate her. it’s just how they see them, as a latinx character: passionate! dramatic! artistic! dangerous! femme fatale! it fits her!
it’s a sad thing, really, this storyline. but i don’t think archie has ever pretended to be in love with her or was written to do so. and this belief makes me hold on to varchie in canon for sure. they will give them all the dramatic! passionate! fire! storylines and they will have them overcome their obstacles, and i much more would love watching them painting a wall then her needing the help of a white man to save her from yet another white man, but all the racist/xenophobe subtext here is something the writers (and even cami!) might not even realize, tbh.
(other things to think about: why did they have to make jughead not-poor so he could be in an established relationship with betty? why do fans want both jughead and archie to fight for/save betty but no one wants anyone fighting for/saving veronica? why couldn’t they write veggie as a compelling love story instead of whatever that was? etc etc etc.)

While you're looking into rps can we talk about Devereux Academy for a minute? A basic look at their main and rules reveals Kristin Stewart as an FC but she's asked repeatedly not to be used in rp, people getting originally tested for being Dom Switch or sub at 17, the rp wording is almost an exact replica of another rp that ran for a while, and they are allowing the Motta family to be whitewashed with a white Robert Pattinson FC. I'm sure theres more i was just too disgusted to keep looking.
This isn’t the first time I’ve been told to take a look at @devereuxacademy or heard about it being problematic. I can’t tell you about the dash and I’m not going to troll through everyone’s blogs, so if there is something on the dash that anyone would like to share with me (problematic plots, not tagging triggers, admin behavior, etc) then feel free to send another ask.
More than one person came to me when this rp first hit the tags, asking if I thought they had stolen parts of their rp. I reported this by answering multiple different asks about it and they never responded, which is very telling. Honestly, I think they did. Intentionally or not, they do have a lot of parts of other, existing roleplays in their plot and there are so many copy and pasted things that it looks to be done on purpose. You can say, “but it’s a D/s academy rp and there’s only so many ways to rp in a school, so of course it looks similar to other rps of the same genre” except for the part where even academy rps have their own unique plot points, including the history of the world, social economics, and the school as well as the history of the administration. And that wasn’t the last time it was brought to my attention, or the only reason. I do see it, if we’re looking for my opinion on the matter of stolen plot content. I can see at least three different roleplays that were already in the tags for a long time, weaved together to make this group. I don’t really see anything that is original in the plot or worldview info, aside from maybe the intense details on IVF as the reason for there being so many triplets. Don’t quote me on that, though, it may have been used before. I just haven’t seen it.
It weirds me out that they have all of their characters being thrust into nsfw situations before 18, with what should be an 18+ concept like BDSM, and at the same time they’re a discord rp as well as a tumblr rp. It says on their application that the characters are tested to find out which mark they are at 17. That’s a minor, being tested in a nsfw way because however you slice it BDSM and D/s are nsfw and nobody under the age of 18 can legally or morally be allowed to even dip a single toe in and that includes taking a test to find out what kinks they like and whether they’re going to want to be catching or receiving when it comes to sex. It just makes me wonder what’s being hidden in the discord. I’d also like to mention that they do have the option to play teachers as well as students, which is just weird and gross to me in this instance. The content is nsfw, clearly some students are going to get with teachers. It’s weird enough when it’s a sfw college rp and students do not smut with teachers, but being a teacher is a respectable character choice so I can see why you’d want to do it. If you were going to focus on talking to other teachers and developing plots with other teachers. In this instance though... the power dynamic between teachers and students are way different and there is a sexual overtone automatically because this is a kinky smut rp. You can also play a character as young as 21, which just makes me hope there are no relationships being written out by naive 21 year olds with their 30-40-50+, way more mature, could be their parent teacher. That might sound like I’m making up something that would never happen, but I have seen someone try to play a 62 year old lesbian that was predatory towards 19 year olds and even claimed one in a D/s rp like this. We all know how Glee rps work, we all know this line has already been crossed. We all also know why that’s gross- it’s an abuse of power and there is no way that a teacher/student dynamic could be cute because there will always be a sense of one person being way more mature than the other and being in a seat of power. Another reason to wonder what’s being hidden on this discord.
There are incorrectly casted families. In particular, I’m seeing POC families with fcs that should not belong because they do not match. I’d really like to know how it is that two Filipino girls and a black girl are twins. As a general note to the admins, you can’t erase half of someone’s ethnicity either. There are other families where one or more character is half right but also half wrong in an offensive way. And some families that are just wrong. I do give them props on some of this being right, but that doesn’t erase the other problems. You can’t whitewash people. Not all Asians are the same. Not all Latinx people are the same. Brown people aren’t interchangeable. Let me just list these so they’re easier to fix:
In the Adams family, Alex Newell is African-American but the fc has a sister that’s  British, Polish and Caribbean. That might be picking at straws but I always find it offensive when people pick and choose how to group ethnicities- like deciding all Asians are the same so they can be related. Either way, she’s over half white which doesn’t match up.
Laura Harrier is Rachel Berry, she is half black and half white with Jewish background so that’s a really nice choice but then she’s twins with two Haliee Steinfeld fcs? Hailee who is Filipino... She’s also been accused of using the N word and being racist so she’s on a lot of people’s banned lists for the same reasons as Lea Michele.
Brianna Tju is in a Chinese family but she’s half Indonesian. She’s also a Disney Channel star, so some people find that problematic from the start, because most of her resources are from kid’s shows at an age that is too young to be roleplaying. She’s only 22 now, which is old enough to rp, however the only real resources she has are from something that aired in 2015 and was likely filmed in 2014 or earlier. When she was definitely a minor.
Kaya Scoldelario is Brazilian. She’s whitewashed by being placed in the Clarington family.
Zoe Deutch is Jewish. Her siblings are Matthew Daddario (Slovak, Italian, Irish, Hungarian, and English) and Haley Lu Richardson, who has a white background that doesn’t include Jewish. This is the Corcoran family as well, which should be Jewish, since they’re all related to Idina Menzel.
Victoria Pedretti is Jewish and she’s in the very white Evans family.
None of the older Fabrays are Jewish, and Ashley Johnson is Native American but also somehow a twin of the white Frannie Fabray.
Principal Figgins is played by someone that is Pakistani but the Figgins on the masterlist is played by Dev Patel, who is Gujarati Indian.
Tyler Hoechlin is also partially Native American, but he is placed in the Flangan (Irish, like straight out of Ireland) family that has Rory recast as Thomas Dogherty (Scottish) with an Ariana Grande (Italian) twin as well.
Kristen Stewart is on the masterlist but she has asked numerous times not to be used in roleplay because it makes her uncomfortable. I just covered this for another roleplay, and I’ve seen other people mention it, so it’s common knowledge at this point. She has been saying this for a long time. She’s also placed as the twin of Danielle Campbell, who is Mexican and Cajun French while Kristen is just white and the canon family member (Gilbert, so Adam Lambert) is Jewish.
Zendaya is also placed as a twin to Samantha Ware. Zendaya is mixed race, half black and half white, while Samantha is black.
Yvette Monreal is the twin to Demi Lovato. Yvette is Chilean. Demi is Mexican and Portuguese.
Avan Jogia is a Hart, but he is Gujarati Indian and white. He would be a better family relation to Dev Patel than anyone else on the masterlist and vice versa. As a refresher, Samuel Larsen (the canon fc for the Hart family) is Mexican, Danish, Spanish and Persian.
Maddison Jaizani is Iranian, but she’s listed as a Holliday which makes her related to Gwyneth Paltrow... a blonde, white woman.
Jacob Elordia is Basque and his sibling on the masterlist is Marie Avgeropoulos, a Greek actress.
Rafael Silva is Brazilian, but he is a Lopez triplet, related to a Mexican-Irish sister (Lindsay Morgan) and a Mexican-Jewish sister (Alexa Demie).
Sugar Motta is played by Vanessa Lengies on Glee, an Egyptian actress. Her family is whitewashed with two white fcs, Kelli Berglung and Robert Pattinson.
Kaylee Byrant is Japanese but she is twin to Madison Beer (Jewish) and Daisy Ridley (white).
The Puckerman family has lost its Jewish heritage. The only two on Noah’s side are Adelaide Kane (white) and Luke Pasqualino (Italian). Jake Puckerman has been recast as Justice Smith, who is half black and half white but is not Jewish. His sister is Samantha Logan who is half Trinidadian and half white and Pauline Singer, who is full Fijian.
Antonia Gentry is cast as a Weston. She is Jamaican, her listed twin is half white and half African-American. The newest acceptance for a Weston is for an African American fc.
Lili Reinhart is on the masterlist, but she’s problematic. She’s defended the abusive behavior of her cast mate, Cole Sprouse, who was very publicly accused of sexual assault and abuse. She’s also been accused of blackface annnnnnnd she’s used queer baiting to get people to watch the show. (She teased a girl on girl relationship publicly, telling people to watch the show because they might finally get to see something between Betty and Veronica, knowing that the fans wanted it, but then when she was asked about it in a later interview she scoffed and acted like it was absolutely impossible and would never happen, some would say she even sounded offended by the thought-- which is what everyone got mad at Melissa Benoist for doing with Supergirl.)
David Corenswet is Jewish, cast with Emily Browning as a sister, who is not.
I applaud the Brazilian change for Lauren Zizes, but Ashley Fink was a welcome representation of plus size actresses and the new fc is less than half her size. She’s still plus size technically, but she’s “model plus size,” which is not at all the same as Lauren’s body type. I ran this by someone that this change would affect and they were not pleased. They were the one that pointed this out to me, because it bothered them as a plus size person to see one of the few plus size characters recasted with a skinnier fc.
Dove Cameron is also on the masterlist, but she’s on a bunch of people’s banned lists. She replied to a fan that said they wanted her to notice them that they were stupid and had no life if that was one of their goals. She’s been rude to cast and crew on set. Dove has also been accused of throwing a fit and making the writers change the Descendants script to take the relationship that was written out for a black actress. She’s being accused of yellow fishing, which I believe is the term for trying to look Asian. She wore a Native American headdress in a cultural appropriation type of way. She’s been accused of being fatphobic and hiding behind photoshop on her social media while saying she doesn’t photoshop, so she’s giving off a false sense of reality to her fans. She’s been talking badly about someone that is trying to get their sexual assault story out there. The latest thing that’s come out about her is a rant about how mental health isn’t real and that people just need to logic their way out of depression? Which would be coming from a seat of high privilege. She wrote a series of tweets on the topic, calling negative mental health and the feelings they cause “a choice.” There’s a whole hashtag on Tumblr for her.
I’m not at all surprised to see that all of the diverse characters are open. No Artie, no Unique- who could definitely be recast as an actual trans woman, now that we’re living in the age of recasting for reasons of problematic natures- if we can have a new Puck, new Finn, new Rachel, and new Santana why not an appropriate Unique? She is literally the only canon trans woman, why not treat her with respect? They recasted Cooper to better fit the proper ethnicity, so...

I am so excited for tonights episode and seeing what Barchie have in store for us but I have seen that some people are concerned that if it is Barchie in the shower together and it is real and not a dream or something (there is some speculation that its Jughead’s nightmare) then Betty is cheating again because she is with Glen which is bad for her character development. But here’s my thoughts on it. First off at this point we don’t know for sure that Betty actually is in a relationship with Glen, we know they’ve got something going on between them but unlike with Jughead and Veronica where it is made clear that Jessica is his girlfriend and Chad is her husband, Betty’s relationship with Glen hasn’t been defined clearly. To me it seems like they have a much more casual relationship more of a FWB kind of deal. The main reasons why I think this is because firstly Glen doesn’t know the name of Betty’s cat, she has to tell him. This seems small but I feel like if they were in an established relationship then he would know her cat’s name. We also know that he doesn’t have a key to her place so that is another milestone in a persons relationship that they haven’t reached so if they are in a relationship its likely a fairly new one. But the most significant thing to me that makes me think it isn’t an exclusive relationship is that when Glen asked Betty if she want’s to go back to his place and she says she has plans he looks a little put out like he’s worried/ thinks she might be going on a date with someone. Or at least thats how I read the scene when I first saw it. This implies that she is free to do so again reinforcing that idea that they aren’t exclusively dating each other and that they are free to see other people. If they are in a casual, non exclusive relationship then I see nothing wrong with Betty being intimate with Archie so long as she has made it clear to Glen that they are not exclusive. I think women get a bad reputation for having casual relationships which I think is a stigma that needs to end. Sleep with as many people as you like just do so safely and make sure everyone is on the same page.
Ok but what if I am wrong and Glen and Betty are boyfriend and girlfriend? Well thats where the difference between tv and real life comes in. If it were real life than obviously its completley unacceptable. However I also recognise that in TV cheating is often used to show that two characters have such strong feelings for each other that they can’t control themselves or contain those emotions. Its a plot device. Often you’ll get two characters who clearly have deep feelings for each other but are not together and are in fact in other relationships. To show how deep those feelings for each other are the characters will act out of  character and cheat. Usually this happens multiple times and is always with each other. The best example I can think of is Leyton form OTH. Lucas cheats on Brooke multiple times with Peyton. He also cheats on Lindsey with Peyton. But he never cheats on either of them with anybody else, its only ever with Peyton. This is to show that cheating isn’t in his or Peytons character, they aren’t players or serial cheaters, its to show that their feelings for each other are so intense that it makes them act out of character and they end up cheating exclusively with each other. The same can be said for Barchie. Archie doesn’t cheat on Veronica with anyone but Betty and Betty never cheats on Jughead with anyone but Archie. Another common thing that this troupe entails is that when the couple are together they never cheat on each other. Leyton were always faithful to each other because now they dont ever get put in a position where they have to fight or hide their feelings. This troupe also serves as a cautionary tale. Leyton often tried to ignore and push down their feelings for each other and as a result they would bubble over from time to time causing them to cheat. Barchie are very much the same they ignore their feelings for each other instead of confronting and talking about them. I tend to think of Barchie as a fizzy drink bottle. The fizzy drink represents their feelings, but they’ve contained them in a bottle with a tightly screwed on lid. Every now and again something happens to shake the bottle up until the pressure inside gets so intense its ready to pop. Then the moment the lid loosens even a little its an explosion and they’ve got a huge mess on their hands.
Honestly I would prefer it to be the first scenario of Betty and Glen being more FWB than anything but if it does turn out Betty is cheating again then I don’t think it means Betty is this terrible, awful person who is irredeemable I think it just means she still has some more growing and learning to do and that she and Archie really need to talk about and confront the feelings they clearly have for each other. Like I said I am very excited for this episode more so than I have been in a long time for Riverdale. I also really hope that the shower scene is a real scene, I’ll admit that I’m a little worried that they will troll us by going the jughead nightmare route just because of how many times I’ve been let down in the past. But either way we are going to be getting plenty of Barchie content and I am planning on reblogging all of the gifs so you’ve be warned my blog is about to become a Barchie kingdom.

Riverdale S5 Ep2 Thoughts *Spoilers*
Thoughts under the cut so it’s not long and annoying!!
- Can’t wait for this Archie centric episode ugh it’s so dumb how the show derived from the ARCHIE Comics isn’t about Archie anymore… teen wolf did the same thing with it’s main character and it’s so dumb
- Slughead fadshjfkaslja
- Archie 🥺😭 poor baby
- Bret’s ALREADY dead? Damn.
- Typical Cheryl lol
- Archie can be so good at faking dating Betty but not Veronica :(
- Jughead shut up???
- Veronica caring about Jughead’s feelings I’m so—but she’s acting like they’re the it couple of Riverdale High and iff they break up everyone will be devastated lol literally no one other than Jughead would care. Still, she’s babie and trying to keep the peace even though she shouldn’t have to be the better person like always.
- Ahhh Hiram. And Archie once again being attacked by an adult. NOT HIRAM ACTING LIKE HE DIDN’T HAVE A MISTRESS, AND ALSO BRINGING FRED INTO IT? FRED NEVER CHEATED I????
- So Hermosa can be at Pop’s when Veronica’s working but Jughead, who basically lives there, can’t?
- Veronica being held at gunpoint my baby 😭😭😭 HERMOSA?? I mean it quite literally was self defense but this show always forgets about that.
- Veronica looks so fucking good ughhh Her having shit not attached to Archie’s side is so good for her MUAHHHHHHH
- “Betty’s instincts are good” lolololol Charles stop lying
- Of course they all have to wear red. “Why, you hate monger?” “for killing the weirdo who was going to kill you for some dumbass reason that makes no sense and I don’t remember” yeah am I surprised smh
- It’s weird that no one has known that Hiram never stopped being the bad guy. Like??? LODGE WOMEN CONSPIRING AGAINST HIRAM THAT SHOULD HAVE GONE DOWN IN LIKE S2 OR S3???? YASSSSSSSS FINALLY
- That Charles look……….. mmhm I already saw the spoiler that he’s behind the tapes smh but I’ll save that rant for when we do find out
- I love that this is happening finally with Veronica taking down Hiram and it’s really fun to watch but it’s not that gratifying because it should have happened long ago… but now that she has Hermosa with her, now she can get her mom back onto her side like s1? It just… it’s amazing that it’s finally happening but c’mon this should have been done in s2 or 3
- Still annoyed that Betty took his spot at Yale or whatever and never gave it back lol she really doesn’t care about him. AND he still doesn’t know she cheated, and Veronica’s the only one who’s thinking of his feelings. Mmhm.
- FALICE IS SO CUTE AHHHH Them being their little family could be so much cuter if they forced Bughead to break up <3
- Right Penelope still isn’t in jail for all the shit she’s done sigh
- CHONI SCENE AWW even though it’s for an alibi for Penelope to like kill her entire family. So why now does Penelope care about Cheryl’s feelings
- Donna knows Betty doesn’t care about anyone but herself why would she even TRY. Joan’s mom spilling everything over the phone lol ok???
- Knowing Bughead is going to implode makes Bughead a little bit easier to handle
- Is Hermosa encouraging Veronica to send guys to beat up her dad or something
- They’re charging a child as an adult….? I know that happens irl even though it shouldn’t. I mean obviously he still did wrong but charging him as an ADULT?
- Oh goodie another tape… it’s so gross that Bughead sleep in the same bed together like that
- Jellybean </3
- Ew her name for him in her phone is Daddykins
- VERONICA IN THAT DRESS WOOOOO WHAT A BEAUTIFUL QUEEN!!
- “A dog who needs to be trained.” Veronica standing up to Hiram his always so good even though they always just make her pretend she didn’t. We love and miss badass Veronica muahhhhhhh
- I feel like in the future Hermosa will be the new Hiram and I don’t like that because they always reuse their dumb boring plots
- Cheryl’s outfit could be so good if she didn’t have that hat but somehow she still pulls it off
- The way Penelope comes out of the hidden wall
- it’s so fucking weird that Cheryl doesn’t act like she hates Penelope and that she didn’t do what she did.
- JUGHEAD DOESEN’T HAVE HIS HAT ON OPRAHHHH
- It would have been so good to see Betty uncover that bug but okay. Could have made bh’s boring investigation bs somewhat interesting
- Why couldn’t we have just had a nice family thing. JUST LET FALICE BE HAPPY DAMMIT
- This Charles reveal isn’t surprising at all because we’ve known since he showed up. Maybe if not every new character was bad we could have been surprised by this.
- If Betty was a “good detective” like the writers try to make everyone believe, Betty would have instead made Charles confess and record it secretly. But Betty and Jughead are awful detectives and try to be the hero when they’re anything but and assume they’ll listen to them.
- HERMIONE!!!!!!!!! QUEEN SHIT!! This should have been done in s2
- YES BUT WHENEVER VERONICA WANTED TO LEAVE YOU COULD HAVE BACKED HER AND LEFT LIKE??? Anyways power move!!! When the Lodge storyline has been the best thing of this ep
- Mary 🥺😭 “Or to Betty and Jughead” girl what?? What does destroying the TV do bro literally nothing. Poor Mary :(
- JUGHEAD ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT BETTY’S FEELINGS?? Not them making BH act like an actual couple NOW when they’re going to implode. But also when will Jughead find out about Barcheating smhhhhhhh
- ADULTS STOP HURTING ARCHIE. HE’S A CHILD. What the fuck is this. Stop encouraging Archie to BEAT you?!?!? That’s so unhealthy. Now they’re hugging…
- I found out about JB because of the Jeronica gc and I know it’s because she doesn’t want Jughead to leave but this show really has to ruin every character to make anything crazy that Betty/Jughead/Bughead do seem incomparable it’s so??? What was the reason… it seems like they just put everyone’s name on a spinner and spun Jellybean and had to somehow tie the tapes to her. This is so fucking dumb, truly. One more ep until we’re free of Bughead’s boring high school investigative bullshit and we can have change and better plots and dynamics. One more until the time jump!
- DRINKS? Jughead you’re not 21 and your dad is a recovering alcoholic.
- But thank GOD Jughead has a scene without Betty. Imagine it automatically being good because bh isn’t forced to have screen time for no reason.
- So is no one else gonna know that it was JB taping their house because the entire core four+ got one.
- I just love that everybody else’s plots were better than BH’s, like always. Though I wish Archie’s arc of wanting help to not be so angry was over a psan of episodes and not just one.
- Veronica was naked…. do VA get another sex scene? Why? They’re broken up…….. plot twist it’s Reggie. We could wish. Nah but we’ve seen V use sex to like.... distract herself, or maybe it’s goodbye sex. Idk but hearing people are slut shaming her once again........ fuck off maybe???

Also, spare me “it’s the comics”
I was one of those little girl’s who read the comics. They were fairly simple concepts but I liked them...parts of them. These “it’s the comics” people are completely misrepresenting them and acting as if they are source authorities. Even if their warped depiction were accurate, Riverdale is clearly not the comics or Cheryl wouldn’t be a lesbian, Moose wouldn’t be bi-sexual, Midge wouldn’t be dead, Frank/Mary would never have divorced, Jughead’s mother wouldn’t be a drug lord, Pop Tate would still own his shop, Mr Weatherbee would care about  his students, Ms. Grundy wouldn’t sleep with Archie and Betty’s father wouldn’t be a dead serial killer. Those are only a few deviations from source material. Oh, and no, Jughead wouldn’t necessarily be asexual either. The majority of his history he was depicted as a woman hater or liked women but didn’t like the constant girl drama of Reggie/Archie & suffered a secretive broken heart when younger so chose cheeseburgers over women. He was never meant to be seen as gay (sorry for people who misread 1940′s America of what a laugh riot they thought it was to be a woman hater because misogynist) and the asexuality was one writer’s choice.
Anyway, a few year’s back they did a storyline with massive media attention about Archie finally going to choose to propose and marry one of the girl’s after year’s of using them. They picked Veronica and made him happy while Betty was depicted as a loser without a successful career or relationship. Then they had him marry Betty, but in this fantasy he chose Veronica first, but he was jealous of the men around her then she announced was moving before he proposed, so in a fit of anger proposes to Betty. Veronica gets together with Reggie and Archie is upset but denies it’s jealousy. This is par for the course of how Betty is treated in the Archie verse even in a fantasy where he ends up marrying her.
Throughout it’s history she is alternatively lying and scheming to get him or a sunny, do it all girl next door being Archie’s endless doormat whom Jughead will often take pity on or stand up to his best friend about. They occassionally have a SL where she chooses herself, tells Archie off, or chooses to date someone else steadily but they never really stop the idea she is second best and cannot be entirely fullfilled without Archie. I hate that Betty. I think that is why I am taking Riverdale molding her into that Betty so strongly because one reason I started the show was because they finally broke her of Archie’s spell. I actually like the Betty in the comics when NOT around Archie in a romantic capacity she’s a lot like formerly seen on Riverdale before this recent arc.
To sum up- No, Betty/Archie were never Endgame in the comics. Mostly the comics are ambiguous preferring to keep perpetually teenagers living off the triangle for decades, pitting fans against each other as the main hook to keep people reading (though that is not the draw it used to be which is why introduced Cheryl, then Val, etc..). But Veronica clearly wins most of the skirmishes with only scattered victories for betty. It basically has devolved into which side would “win” Archie and THAT perfectly illustrates how toxic the part of fandom that embraces that trope from the comics is.

Can i request an imagine for cheryl where the reader is a co captain for the vixens and she is sick at practice?
Tumblr media
Cheryl Blossom - Vanilla and Cherries
Genre; slight angst? Fluff? Idk.
I love her a lot, omg.
I think I overdo it again. Sorry about that. It took me a long time to write this because I wanted to write more than just reader being sick at practice.. But I think I overdo it. This one was supposed to be short and light but well 😂
I hope you don't mind...? Let me know what you think though but I hope you still enjoy it. Thanks for the request! 💕
---
The beat of the loud music came from the speaker echoed the entire place caused you a sharp pain of dizziness inside your head.
You were barely paying attention at what's happening around you.
It was a blur.
You saw some movements, jumping and dancing, flashes of yellow and the smell of vanilla and cherries.
You inhaled deeply, trying to calm yourself and trying to focus. You can feel the soreness at the back of your throat, so you hope to ease it with a cool water as you slowly grab the bottle beside you.
Your hands were shaking.
Cheryl's loud voice beside you caused you to flinch, holding back a groan when another of sharp pain shot right inside your head.
Cheryl sighed loudly, "This is hopeless." She crossed her arms on her chest, "Start again!" She hollered, frowning while watching the girls take their place to start another routine. "Look at them," she shook her head, "What do you think, Y/N/N?" She turned her head at you, asking for your input.
Her postures relaxed slightly, uncrossing her arms slowly when she finally take a good look at you and realized your unusual silence, "Hey," she put a hand on your shoulder in concern.
People wouldn't believe the sight if it weren't for the fact that you are one of those people that Cheryl Blossom does not despise. You're her best friend and favorite person beside her twin brother, she cared for you.
You're one of the reason she was still here, fighting after everything that had happened to her with you as her anchor. You accepted her as she is, though there was a few fights about her character.
You gulped before looking at her, forcing a smile. "They are good. Just need to fix their tempo and improve a little bit more, Cher." You weren't paying attention and didn't really understand what you were saying, it was like an automatic respond.
Cheryl scooted closer to you and wrapped her arm around your back, "Y/N/N, you're quiet than usual. What's wrong?" She stroke your clothed arm softly.
"Nothing's wrong, Cher. I'm just tired, I guess." You shrugged slowly, careful enough to not show any pain on your expression.
There was another thud when some of the girls bumped into each other, making another mistake from their routine causing Cheryl to sigh loudly - bringing her attention away from you. "I didn't have to look to know that was another failure from all of you hopeless creatures." She rolled her eyes.
You breathed out gently, "Cher." You mumbled in protest at the choice of her words and slowly making your way forward.
You told them you wanted to demonstrate, to show them the right way of the team's routine - ordering some of the girl to help you.
Your body were heavy, it was like there was something holding you back, ready to pull you down.
"Y/N, you're burning up." Betty's eyes widened in concern when she took her place to help you, rubbing your shoulder worriedly.
Veronica shared the same concern when she cupped your neck and placed her hand on the skin to feel the temperature.
Cheryl's eyes twitched at the over friendly gestures as she watched you with her arms crossed, not happy at the sight.
She was always overprotective over you. She had to share you with the other girls and she doesn't like it. Cheryl Blossom does not share.
You waved their concern away with a smile, "I'm fine. Come on, you wouldn't want to spend another hour on practice, would you?"
Veronica shuddered, "Definitely not."
"Okay, take your places!" Cheryl clapped her hands when you gave her a nod to show that you were ready to start.
The pain when you moved around was unbearable. Every movements, there was pain everywhere.
Cheryl was alarmed when she saw how sluggish you were, something was not right. You were always such a good dancer, you always perform with such perfection, so to watch you like that worried her.
The girls started to form another routine, getting ready to lift you up to the position of the main routine - standing on each other's shoulders with you in the highest position.
Another movement you made, you felt your world spinning and you were down on the ground in seconds, hard and loud. The thud definitely caused Cheryl to jumped up from her seat in a second to make her way to you, worried more than anything.
"Did someone drop her?!" She stomped, pushing the girls away from surrounding you and knelt down beside you. "Y/N/N?" She gasped as she carefully held you, feeling your body burned with fever.
She snapped her head towards Betty and Veronica, "You knew she was unwell, why didn't you say anything?!"
They shared a guilty glances toward each other.
"Make space, you guys. Don't surround her too close like that." Toni voiced out, feeling your neck up with her hand in worried.
"Practice is over!" Cheryl ordered, dismissing the girls while trying to lift you up. "Move!"
Toni stayed to offer, "Let me help."
You were oblivious on what's happening while you tried your best to stay awake. But your eyes were droopy and there was more pain, everywhere all over your body and head.
The smell of vanilla and cherries invading your nose when you were brought to a sitting against a chest, arms protectively wrapped around your body when everything went black.
Hours later though, you could feel yourself slowly gaining your conscious, opening your eyes slowly, staring at the ceiling of the room in a total blankness.
First thing you noticed was a smell that soothes you immediately.
The smell of vanilla and cherries.
Cheryl, you thought knowingly and your body immediately relaxed at the thought of you with her - at her house, in her room, laying on her huge bed.
"How are you feeling?"
You turned your head at the source of the voice and found Cheryl observing you with a blank expression on her face, sitting on her vanity's chair in a straight posture.
"Cher, what are you doing over there?" You hoarse out a question, clearing your throat at the soreness.
Cheryl stood up and make her way to her nightstand, grabbing a mug of water - opening the lid before letting you to take a few sips.
You rested your head back onto the pillow while she put the mug away. You closed your eyes for a moment, feeling safe despite being in Cheryl's room.
"I'm mad at you." Cheryl's quiet voice could be heard in the eerie silence.
You opened your eyes, looking at her in guilt. "Sorry I messed up the practice today." You took her hand to offer your apology.
She shook her head, huffing as she took her hand away from your soft grip and crossed her arms. "You could break your neck, Y/N."
You blinked in confusion, "Cher, it was just a fever."
Cheryl glared at you. "What would happen if you were already up there and suddenly fainted, Y/N?" She asked.
"But I didn't, Cher." You said softly, feeling sorry for not being honest to her.
"There's a few scenarios here." She continued, ignoring you while staring into your eyes.
"One, you could have been in the wrong position to land properly despite they were there and ready to catch you."
You nodded slowly.
"Two, you could lose your balance up there and fall without no one to catch you should they weren't in the right position to do so." She hissed, eyes tearing up at the thought.
You sat up slowly and pulled her gently into your arms, feeling her holding back a sob.
"You could get hurt, Y/N." She whispered against your shoulder. "I don't want anything bad to happen, especially to you, mainly you."
You sighed, finally understanding the main reason she was so upset at you. "I'm sorry."
You have nothing else to say except sorry because it is your fault for not being honest. Worse, you were risking the girls' safety.. And yours because you didn't want to worry her.
And to be honest, after letting you in, after showing you her everything that is Cheryl Blossom, fears and everything.. she was terrified of anything happening to you. Because she only has you. Only you, her best friend, her anchor.
You sniffed loudly, the smell in the air was barely there but you can still smell it despite of your cold. "Vanilla and Cherries." You spoke quietly. "Your perfume smell so nice."
Cheryl pulled back gently, "What perfume?"
"Vanilla and Cherries." You sniffed again. "I like the smell." You confessed.
"I wear no perfume, Y/N." She whispered, looking up at you.
You titled your head, "It was always there. It soothes me, always. Must be your lotion then." You shrugged.
Cheryl swallowed and reached out her hands, cupping your face. Your eyes widened slightly, heart was beating fast at the look on her face.
She leaned closer, watching you closely when she rubbed her thumb against your lips and the smell of vanilla immediately went through your nose.
You can feel her heart thumped loudly the moment her lips landed on yours. Her lips was so soft against yours, fitted like a perfect puzzle.
She pulled back softly after a few seconds. Her breath was heavy, yet it was hitting your face softly.
You licked your lips, "Cherries." You mumbled quietly.
"I'm always here. Can't you see?" She whispered softly, staring at your eyes meaningfully.
It wasn't the smell of vanilla and cherries that soothes you.
It was her.
It was Cheryl Blossom.

Works in progress Sunday
I was going through my google documents and found a lot of drabbles and abandoned fanfic ideas, so I decided I will post some of the ones I like. Hopefully I will able to turn these little moments in actual stories some day, but for now I hope you guys like these glimpses. This one is from this past halloween.
“I’m sorry, you need to have a partner to enter.”
Betty was standing in front of the booth that was selling tickets for the halloween escape room. Every year Riverdale held a big halloween fair which was attended by everyone. Halloween was big in Riverdale, probably even bigger than Christmas, and the fair was the town’s main attraction. It was populated by food stands, haunted houses, spooky rites and all sorts of other activities. But this year there was something new, the Blossoms had sponsored an escape room. The person to solve it in the fastest time would get a mystery price.
Betty had been excited about it from the moment she heard about it. Growing up she loved a good mystery, she spend all her time watching detective shows, often times solving the murder halfway through the episode.
Now all her excitement came crashing down, because she wasn’t allowed to enter the escape room alone.
“Can’t I just enter on my own,” Betty was confident that she would be able to solve it.
“No,” the reply came quick. The girl behind the counter looked bored and slightly annoyed that she was making such a big deal out of it.
She looked over at Veronica and Archie who had already purchased their tickets. Veronica made eye contact and came storming over, probably seeing the disappointment on her face.
“What is it?”
“I can’t buy a ticket, because I don’t have a partner.”
“B, you can go with Archie if you want. I know how excited you were. I’ll just enjoy myself on the fair.” Veronica held her ticket towards Betty, but she shook her head. She loved her friend dearly, but she doubt Archie and her would make a good team.
“Thanks V, but you two should go together,” she put on her determined face, so Veronica knew she was serious.
She could see the doubt on Veronica’s face, but she lowered the ticket and went back to Archie’s side. Betty smiled at them and waved indicating they should go in.
The smile dropped the moment they disappeared behind the doors. She gave the girl one last pleading look, but all she got in return was a blank stare. She sighed and moved aside to let the next pair buy their tickets.
The rule was stupid. They were supposed to go in pairs, because apparently the escape room was super difficult and super scary, but they didn’t know Betty Cooper if they thought she couldn’t handle it on her own.
She huffed in annoyance and inspected the rest of the fair. Normally she would be walking around trying every food and activity, but her mood had officially been lowered.
She was sulking when she heard a voice behind her. A voice so familiar and yet so different from what she remembered.
“You wanna go in together?”
She turned around to see Jughead Jones standing behind her. Her childhood best friend, her teenage crush and the boy who left her behind at the age of 15 when he joined a gang and decided it was too dangerous for her to be involved with him.
That boy had now transformed into a man.
Betty stared at him for a moment, wondering if he was a ghost. It was halloween after all, it would be appropriate.
“What,” she sputtered after a few moments. Not the most intelligent thing to say, but she was surprised.
Jughead gave her a half smile. “I heard your conversation with Veronica. I also don’t have a partner, so wanna go solve it together. We were a pretty good team. We solved where all the charity money went within two days, remember?”
Betty wanted to laugh. They hadn’t spoken to each other in three years and now he was standing before her and talking to her like no time had passed at all.
But she didn’t laugh, instead she turned to anger.
“Are you serious?”
Jughead removed his hand from his pocket and showed her two tickets to the escape room.
“I am.”
Betty looked at the tickets with a weird sense of longing. She didn’t know why she wanted to do the escape room so badly, maybe she wanted to show this town what she was made of. But going in there with Jughead, was it worth it?
Jughead saw her deliberation and took a step closer, before she could react he took her hand and put the ticket in it.
“Come on, Betts,” his childhood nickname for her made her stomach flip, but she ignored it.
“Why are you doing this?” she asked him, suddenly feeling vulnerable. He was still holding her hand and she was back to being her 15 year old self. A feeling she did not like.
He shrugged. “Just wanting to help an old friend.”
“An old friend?” she asked.
Was that all she was.
His eyes betrayed no emotion, no motive why he was suddenly so friendly and so present. He was good at wearing a mask, a skill he learned when he was a teenager, but he never masked his emotions from Betty, at least he used to never do it.
“Fine,” she pulled her hand back. “Let’s do this.”
She walked towards the entrance of the escape room and didn’t look back to see if Jughead was following her.
------
If you would ask Jughead to describe the past few years of his life, his reply would be one word.
Shitty.
Not very eloquent, but his life hadn’t been eloquent.
When he was 15 he transferred to southside high, there he was forced to join a gang for his own protection. His dad, who runs the gang, had been in and out of prison for the past 5 years. He was currently in.
People tended to glamorize gang life, but Jughead had a few scars to show anyone who thinks they want to join one.
But in all honesty the fighting and illegal stuff that he did wasn’t the biggest reason his life sucked. It was the fact that he had to leave everyone behind from his old life. His friends and his girlfriend, people threatened him to cut all ties otherwise bad things would happen to them, so he did. He knew those people weren’t ones to play around and he couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to them.
But 3 years have passed and he thought he was fine. Then, as he was standing in line to buy tickets to the escape room, one of the only fair activities he thought would be fun, he saw a blonde ponytail and heard a voice that haunted him in his dreams.
Betty.
Only a few feet in front of him was the girl whose heart he broke, the girl he still thought about every single day.
His resolve that he held on to for three years quickly faded away and he did something stupid, but he missed her and he just wanted to spend some time with her.
So he invited her to do the escape room together with him.

so heathers eps 2-3
it's a few days late but I just woke up from a dream about my TomTord Roommate and I don't want to be actually productive. I had to go back and copy-paste this from Word because Tumblr’s new text post editor has a woefully small character limit. Gotta love how Wordpress of all fucking places is going out of their way to make their new pet project hostile to writers.
Anyway.
Good things:
the pacing feels like an actual show now
it took them three whole episodes but they finally managed to make JD/Veronica interesting and actually dark. Think the ending of Gone Girl if both characters viewed it as a happy ending.
I love Heather Duke's peacock motif. It's very fitting with her personality and is incorporated tastefully.
Changing “Teenage Suicide (Don’t Do It)” by Big Fun into a musical produced in-universe is a fun idea... I think? It gives me a lot of similar vibes to Riverdale having to justify performing Heathers the Musical in-universe , though that only lasted an episode, whereas this looks like it’s going to be an overarching plot. I honestly think they should just pull a Riverdale and have a full-on musical episode -- at least that would give musical fans something to enjoy. I guess this isn’t a good thing so much as a thing that didn’t annoy me. It’s not conceptually poisoned like a lot of other things here.
Anything else? No...? Well then, moving on.
Several new problems have emerged:
Veronica's bug motif is absolutely heinous and I don't have any clue what it's supposed to represent, especially when they keep changing what exact bug she's wearing.
Also you don’t have to vomit blue all over every Veronica scene. It’s very weird because they don’t usually throw red or green or yellow lighting all over everyone’s else scenes. Sure, it’ll feature prominently, such as the shot of Heather M sitting on her bed surrounded by yellow stuffed animals, but that’s at least a characterization detail. I’m talking solely about lightning choices here.
Removing the death of Heather Chandler has destroyed any sense of direction the show could have had. I asked TTR what the characters wanted and what goals they were working towards and she just said, "I have no idea." They had Heather Chandler blackmailing JDonica and Heather M. getting gaslit and victim-blamed by everyone around her, but both of these things were done by the end of the episode.
This is a problem a lot of teen dramas have, but I think it’s worth noting that the pop music choices rang from “okay” to “.... but why though.” Like in the scene where Heather C. reveals she’s still alive, it plays “Halo” by Beyoncé, get it, because they thought she was dead! Except it doesn’t fit the tone of the scene nor Heather C’s intentionality, and there’s nothing funny about the contrast, either. What?
Heathers looked at the controversy around 13 Reasons Why's suicide scene and said "bet." Except it's not even done well because the entire point of 13RW s1 was getting to know Hannah and understand why she kermited. We always know she's killed herself, sure, but the series utilizes the tapes and frequent flashbacks to characterize Hannah, especially by the time we actually see the suicide. This episode just dumps trauma on Heather M. and has her kill herself at the end. Of episode 2.
After the funeral scene, the rest of ep3 is just pointless generic teen drama, only half of which was made interesting by that Gone Girl twist at the end (where JD kills Ram because Veronica is going out with him and Veronica finds this thrilling and romantic).
The other plot, about Heathers D and C fighting for power, culminates in Heather C forcing D to break-up with Kurt and then bouncing D off the stage during play auditions. Problem one: this is all drama I could get in any teen show. Problem two: you could have easily set up Duke/Kurt in episode one by having a scene where Kurt asks why Duke just she let Chandler humiliate him in front of everyone, allowing us to see that Duke's subservience to Chandler has actual personal costs to her (since the eating disorder angle is out). Problem three: having Duke constantly just back down whenever Chandler challenges her is boring and lame. Why not have a sing-off between the two Heathers? Why not have Heather D. gain the self-confidence her movie self did after C's "death" and then not be fully willing to play nice anymore, especially after Chandler forced Duke to publicly break up with and denounce Kurt for no real reason?
But we can't have the sing-off, because it's getting pretty clear that this show has the same problem RWBY does, where the writers/directors care more about the characters they made than the actual main characters. Characters like the teachers, Betty Finn, and whoever tf this new black girl is get to be major players because their personalities were not as previously well-defined as JD's, Veronica's, or any of the Heathers'. This is also pretty apparent in how Kurt and Ram have both been rewritten to not be douchebros at all (racism aside, because remember, the show doesn't think racism is that bad), despite the episode's title, “Date Rape and AIDS Jokes,” referencing their movie characterization. The show is so obviously uninterested in its supposed main characters that JD and Veronica have only had two real romantic moments together in over two hours of content. Heather M. has gotten the most development... only because the show realized it hadn't given any reason for anyone to care about her before she killed herself off.
JD’s dialogue is fucking horrendous. Imagine if every single word out of Jughead’s mouth was the “I’m a weirdo” speech but five times as long. And you know what, in defense of Jughead, at least Lean Jesus has things going on in his life outside of plowing Betty and wallowing in his own melodrama. He has hobbies, goals, and complicated relationships with other characters. The only things JD has are Veronica and bitching at his dad/his dad’s new girlfriend about how love is a wound and all this other nihilistic shit he got off r/im14andthisisdeep. I’m honestly surprised he didn’t counter Veronica talking about how she wanted to be normal with “Normal is just a setting on the washing machine.” Another missed characterization moment: JD bringing a sword from his katana collection (that’s only seen once in episode three) to school and threatening Kurt and Ram with that instead of the gun. I think that would have been fun.
The show also hates black women. And Native Americans. In such a way that it actively contradicts itself (the pilot established that Heather C. actually isn't just a keyboard warrior and goes to irl protests, so why would Heather C. not say a word about Westerburg's school statue being a Confederate soldier holding an Indigenous person's decapitated head?)
