#Like it's fine if you want to cultivate an audience of just grown ass adults without kids or teens around. It's fine to block minors.

I get that apparently porn artists can get prosecuted for distributing porn to a minor just for being followed by minors, and in general I support people's right to be like "this is an 18+ space and I don't want any kids here", but I really really hate when people treat the potential for legal prosecution as a problem caused by minors and not something that 99% of them are going to be completely unaware of. It's an adult law made by conservative lawmakers and enforced by adult legal systems, not. Minors. Who have sex drives that start up around 13 or so, many of whom are going to look at "18+ minors dni" stuff and go "this sign won't stop me because I can't read" regardless, out of rebellion if not actual desire.
I also generally hate using the term "minors" because I think it leads too easily to treating anyone under 18 as some sort of collective group with its own culture or something instead of. Any human person under the age of 18.
(I also think way too many people just accept that porn and any discussions of sex is damaging/traumatizing for anyone under 18, but that's another story.)
#sorry that minor is not oppressing you.#I also generally hate 'age in bio' culture and specifically 'I'll block you if you don't have your age in your bio'#as well as the annoyingly harshest form which is 'I need a real age not just 18+'#this sort of intersects with the way the internet functions as technically public but blogs and pages often being considered private#Like it's fine if you want to cultivate an audience of just grown ass adults without kids or teens around. It's fine to block minors.#It's your own prerogative if you want to block ageless blogs. To have this boundary.#But I hate when it's treated as a moral failing to not have your age in your bio
