I am giving myself Brain Homework this summer while I try to make the most of some of the realizations I've been having and the potential benefit from my meds now. Along with hopefully getting back to therapy I want to try to do some reading on my own to see if I can set myself up to be a little more resilient the next time I am up against challenges like the ones that have been making things so difficult for me

So far my hopeful reading list is:

Picked up a copy of Unmasking Autism by Devon Price today because I think I'm going to want a copy around in the future

Going to read our copy of How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Price because I think it's very needed

I have read parts, but never the entirety of The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk (I know, I know) and I think it is time to get through it properly

I recently checked out a copy of The Lightmaker's Manifesto by Karen Walrond from the library because one thing I am trying to center lately is how to stay tethered to the work and activism I want to be doing while acknowledging that I was really traumatized by certain experiences as a result of it this last semester in our queer student group, that I think are a large part of why my OCD has flared up so much (and that revealed its presence after so long in the first place).

Who made it: Trailer Park Group Every year, each distributor is allowed one trailer that exceeds the standard 150-second runtime. It stands to reason that Universal would dedicate that honor to “Oppenheimer,” the Christopher Nolan tentpole it deemed so important, the studio erected a billboard featuring a countdown timer on S. La Cienega Blvd. more than a year before it opened. “This is a national emergency,” begins Trailer Park’s three-minute supercut, which brings breathless, race-against-time energy to the Manhattan Project portion of the film, alternating between awesome nuclear-fission imagery and punchy, apocalyptically self-important zingers, like Matt Damon spouting, “How about because this is the most important thing to happen in the history of the world?” Other trailers, like Inside Job’s two-minute “Lightmaker” spot, do a more accurate job of representing the whole film, but “Secrets” positioned “Oppenheimer” as the must-see, “most important” event movie of the summer. How does the movie measure up? The trailer got millions to buy tickets to Nolan’s masterpiece, but may have skewed their expectations in the process, overrepresenting Emily Blunt’s role (as Oppie’s wife), while reducing the Robert Downey Jr. dimension to just two shots...'

She collected all the bits that the lightmaker didn't seem to want. Maybe it's a gift, or maybe he has enough already. Either way, it came from the lights, so it must be something special. She considered asking him about what they do, but decided against it. Figuring out the true value of things is a staple in fairy stories, so why miss out on that?

Shimmerina was just flying around when she saw these colorful flashes lighting up the sky. She became excited- were these other fairies? She went over to where they were, at which point one thing became clear: she should not have done that.

We have been fully approved (June 2018) and are now waiting for an expectant/birth mother and father to select us as the adoptive family. One thing we learned from our agency that surprised us is that about only half of the adoptions they handled this past year were with birth mothers that come to the agency. The other half were with birth parents that the adoptive families connect with through their own personal networks! ⁣ ⁣ So we have a request that may seem strange, but here we go 🙂 If you know of anyone within your personal networks that is in a situation in which they may not wish/be able to parent and is considering adoption, we ask that you mention us and see if they'd be interested in connecting with us. This may seem like an odd request, but if it means sharing our story to a bigger audience to bring our baby home, then we're all for the discomfort. ⁣ ⁣ Earlier today was a hard day. I liken this time of waiting to when we waited for God's perfect timing for pregnancy amidst miscarriages and negative pregnancy tests over almost two years. I'm so excited to see what plans the Lord has for our family in 2019. We pray everyday for our little Nugget that we haven't met yet. We pray for Nugget's Mama and Daddy. We pray for Tristan as he will have to adjust as well to an addition. We pray for us as parents to be Godly in our examples and to continue to trust God's promises of our obedience. I can't wait.
