Lighting Fixture Market Outlook, Competitive Strategies And Forecast
The global lighting fixture market size is expected to reach USD 140.76 billion by 2027, expanding at a CAGR of 4.5% over the forecast period, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Rapidly growing demand for energy-efficient products in the residential and commercial sectors is majorly driving the market for light fixture. Furthermore, introduction of technologically advanced lightings, such as smart lighting, will impel the growth of this market over the forecast period.
Light fixtures are used for the commercial and residential purposes to cut down energy waste and increase the lifespan of bulb. Several initiatives taken by the government to reduce energy consumption will create potential opportunities for the lighting fixture market. For instance, the governments of India and Japan have planned to phase out incandescent bulbs by 2020 as incandescent bulbs consume 80% more energy than LED bulbs. In 2012, the European Union directive banned the sales of 40W and 25W incandescent bulbs to reduce the energy use by bulbs.
Rapid growth of the commercial sector across developing countries is impelling the demand for luminaires. Other factors promoting the growth of this market are growing awareness regarding energy conservation, regulations directed at energy-efficient products, and introduction of technologically advanced lighting. The government bodies are imposing regulatory pressure on the commercial and industrial sectors to adopt light fixture as these sectors consume more power. In 2019, the U.S. government banned the sale of bulbs that do not reach a standard of efficiency. Moreover, growing need to raise employee productivity and reduce production cost are increasing the adoption of light fixture in these sectors.

Smart Light Fixture and Control Market Will Reach $152,029 Million by 2030
The smart light fixture and controlmarket was valued at $52,047 million in 2021, and it is set to reach $152,029 million by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 12.6% between 2021 and 2030, according to a research report by a market research company P&S Intelligence. This growth can be ascribed to the dropping of average retailing price of LED bulbs credited to the growing production efficiency and reduced material prices.
Furthermore, the emerging problem of the energy crisis is forcing governments and people to shift toward smart lights, which can reduce the consumption of electricity.
The smart lighting industry is already popular in developed countries and is projected to grow significantly in developing countries also in the years to come. As the government has taken several initiatives to encourage the use of smart lights to reduce energy consumption.
LED lights will dominate the smart light fixture market in the future. This can be credited to the several benefits of this technology, including its low costs and better illumination effectiveness than traditional lights.
The smart light control is a network of numerous lighting fixtures linked together to control smart systems. The industry is growing mainly because of the increased pace of technological enhancement and continuous development in smart controls.
With the usage of dependable procedures and distributed control systems, controllers provide significant lighting functionality and customer value, performance, and energy effectiveness.
In 2021, the offline channel category held the larger share, mainly because instructions for installations for light fixtures are offered in detail by the salesman, helps in choosing high-quality items.
APAC held the largest share of approximately 40% in the past. This can be ascribed to the increasing initiatives by the governments of developing economies to encourage the usage of energy-efficient lights.
In addition, to draw customers' attention, key players are spending heavily on advertising their products in hospitals, schools, malls, salons, and other public places, also the rising acceptance of smart cities is contributing to the growth of the demand for energy-saving products like LED lights.
Moreover, the per-capita income of people is on the rise, which encourages them to switch to high-tech systems, propelling the demand in the region.
North America held a significant revenue share in the past, in which the U.S. dominated the region, due to the growing requirement for wireless lighting fixtures. The major benefits of these products include programming flexibility, energy efficiency, extended lifespan, and long-distance control are motivating the leading companies in the region to produce wireless lighting fixtures.
The dropping average retailing price of LED bulbs and several government initiatives to encourage the use of these lights will drive the demand for smart light fixture and control systems.

I can't believe that the 1978 Disco Ship house in Las Vegas, NV hasn't sold and the 4bd, 3ba, 2,458 sq ft home is back on the market. Uniqueness for only $449k is a bargain.
Enter the modified entrance hall. Note the newly placed beams and wainscoting.
Walk straight ahead and down the gangplank onto the deck of the ship (living room). Note the crow's nest lookout and the sky above.
The sails are on the yard arms and the ship's wheel is behind the lookout.
The wainscoting makes it look like you're on the ship with the moon and the ocean on the horizon. The coffee table, crow's nest and ship's wheel are permanent fixtures.
On this side, take the gangplank to disembark at Port Royal.
Port Royal has a very festive kitchen with brocade cabinetry.
I think that this room is supposed to be the dining room b/c of the service window and counter to the kitchen.
On the other side of the kitchen there's a full bar, (labeled "full bar"), a large flat screen, plus a stage.
Standing on the stage. It looks like there's a disco ball and theatrical lights on the ceiling, too.
This bedroom features an interesting headboard and a fridge.
Large bath.
Bedroom #2 is a good size.
Bath with a large vanity table and separate toilet.
And, this is the decorated primary suite.
This small area has a kitchenette and a shower room.
Interesting little room has 2 ladders, stairs to the basement, a footbridge, all sorts of stuff.
Then outside, there's a fenced yard with a covered patio and center "lawn" of Astroturf.

Life & Trust Oct 13, 2024
It goes without saying that I went into L&T with a healthy amount of skepticism. Pretty much everything about how the show was marketed pissed me off, and all of the early teased info about the experience itself (the stupid masks with antlers, the fact that the show is basically a carbon copy of the Punchdrunk format, etc) made it sound ultra annoying. When I walked into the building last Sunday evening, my expectations were low. Which, inevitably, led me to find myself pleasantly surprised by the parts of L&T that worked, and to be massively ticked off by the things that didn't.
Spoilers below, including 1:1 info.
Preshow:
On arrival, I was escorted by a bar staff member to a small café table in the middle of Conwell Hall. Even with all the hype and photos on social media, the space is impressive, from the marble floors and columns to the antiqued brass fixtures to the massive Diego Rivera style show-specific mural hanging above the bar. It's cavernous, opulent in an Art Deco kind of way. There's a lot of cute paper ephemera on the tables, but between the menus, the business cards, the full-size old timey newspaper (full of in-world easter eggs), not to mention the drinks, the canapes, the votive candles… it's a lot of clutter. There's piped in music that's not quite period appropriate. I know there's some concern about disturbing the residents who actually live on the upper floors, but there's no reason they can't have like one person at a piano or something. They don't need a whole band, but some live entertainment would be nice.
Because I knew that people attending the 6pm "cocktail hour" get first admittance into the performance space, that's the entry time I booked. But that meant I had to stand around for the better part of an hour before doing 3ish more hours of standing, walking, and running inside the show. Other people, primarily couples and groups, got put at tables with seats during preshow. Because I was solo, I had to stand. Infuriating. There's no reason those tall café tables can't have bar stools or chairs. L&T seems to cater to couples and groups, which makes sense financially, but if they want to encourage repeat visits, they should make the preshow more accommodating to and comfortable solo guests. Just sayin'.
The Show:
The staff member I met during preshow escorted me and a handful of other guests to a small waiting room where we were held before being shown in to meet "the CEO", aka an older actor playing Old Faust J. G. Conwell. He was great, but the whole intro announcement/exposition scene is too long. Conwell's monologue is fine, but the second half of the scene with the demon? witch? goes on and on for no real reason other than to buy time for the previous group of audience members to filter into the performance space. (Maybe I'm just a broken shell of an immersive theater fan at this point, but I thought this scene and a few other moments in the show reveal too much of the bones of L&T's structure, feeling like ways to fill time rather than opportunities to pull me into the world. But again, maybe that's my fault.)
And what a space. Each subfloor is absolutely massive, yet all of the rooms (except the finale hall) feel a little claustrophobic because of the low ceilings. I know there are entire sections of the set I didn't see, but because it's at least four or five floors of disorienting, labyrinthine spaces, I don't feel like I was missing out.
The first room I walked into was what I can only describe as The Poodle Room… because it was a dark, creepy little office full, like floor to ceiling, of poodle figurines of various sizes. There are definitely some areas and rooms that you can tell a lot of care went into the design and detail -- the Conwell family suite is beautiful, something like an Egyptian tomb is bizarre and eerie, an old tavern and a series of tenements feel lived in.
There's also a Magical Devil Juice Forest with twinkling, color-changing fiberoptic lights on every branch and leaf. There's a dingy vaudeville theater, a nickelodeon running loops of early silent short films, a grimy artist's studio, a plush boudoir with a broken crystal chandelier in a heap on the floor, a coal mine. It's a lot. And yet, some of the spaces in the show have seem unfinished somehow or appear as an afterthought.
Based on what I'd read online, I was expecting the weird devil deer masks all the audience members wear to be super uncomfortable. In reality they're no worse than the Sleep No More masks. The antlers are a little annoying and totally unnecessary. But like a lot of things about Life & Trust, the masks seem to be the product of a certain aesthetic or viral moment the creators are desperately striving for. As Paul Hollywood says, most of what I saw felt like "style over substance."
The performances, all of the ones I saw anyway, were excellent. I tried to avoid characters that had excessively large groups of audience with them. Unfortunately, most of the familiar performers whose work in this new show I really wanted to see all seemed to have huge crowds with them at all times. Luckily, I didn't have to wander around for long before finding another character with few or zero people following them -- which may have been purely by chance or how the creators and performers designed the character tracks. Appreciated either way.
I saw a selection of scenes with the Miners, the Vaudeville Couple, Evelyn, Naima, the Maid, and Dorian, all of whom were played that night by extremely strong and engaging performers. I liked the tone shift with the Vaudeville Couple's scenes, how their sincerity and silliness turns performative and degrading as soon as they're offered money to entertain. I liked the working class Miners balance of hope and despair, the secret affair and role reversal between Naima and her Maid, and Dorian's shapeshifting physicality as his brittle and decadent façade begins to decay.
I followed the tarot reading Con Artist, basically from the top of the show. I should have made more of an effort to stay with them through their entire loop, but it just got to be too difficult to navigate the space as more and more people latched onto the character. The performer in this role was just subtle enough, just intimidating enough, which is no small feat because I imagine the character is extremely difficult to like, especially if you don't get the 1:1 early in their first loop where they explain some of their motivation. Interestingly, the 1:1 reveal of the Con Artist's lack of empathy gives them more humanity. They manipulate and steal from other characters in a way that feels curious, not outright evil. They made pointed eye contact with me in the scenes following the 1:1, marking me as an accomplice. When they eventually confront their own reflection in a hall of mirrors, they are at their most shattered and vulnerable. They collapsed, reaching out to me again for stability and comfort, but even this could have been a kind of manipulation. But you know what? I didn't mind, it was one of the few times in the show I forgot about the outside world all the other audience members around us and was actually… you know… immersed.
By the end of the last loop, my whole body hurt, I was sweaty and exhausted, and fully ready for the show to be over. But ohhh no, the finale had to happen first.
I'm sorry to say, unless you followed Faust Young Conwell or Mephisto -- or have a basic understanding of the primary framing narrative -- the finale makes no sense. The use of the finale space was smart, having the performers up on platforms allowed the audience to see most of the action (unlike some other recent immersive shows *COUGH*THE BURNT CITY*COUGH*), but the whole sequence was waaay too long. The lighting is cool, Conwell does a sick slow motion Matrix backbend at one point, and there's a striking final visual of the straightjacketed body in the water tank, but the whole thing could have been cut down to half the time and be just as impactful. And there was a curtain call?? I get wanting to honor the performers at the end of a show, but it took me right out of the moment. I mean, if you're going to do a show that's so similar in structure and style to Punchdrunk, why not end with character walk outs like they do? Although walk outs may have been difficult because because there's literally only one exit out of the finale space. Still. One of the things I like about immersive theater is that it doesn't feel like a play… I can stay in the world longer if there's no button on the end of the show, like a curtain call, you know?
Final Thoughts:
Reading back over this write up, it sounds like I had a bad time. And that's not the case, really I swear. There's a lot about L&T that works. It's beautiful, the original music is a nice touch (some people hate it, I really enjoyed and appreciated it), and the performances are truly pretty outstanding.
Mostly what doesn't work are the story and the structure. It doesn't have that hard-to-define Special Something that Punchdrunk shows have or even Third Rail Projects had with Then She Fell.
Life & Trust isn't going to haunt me the way other immersive shows do. It's trying too hard to be Instagramable, and thus sacrificing the soul and spirit it needs to be a lasting influence on this particular format of theater.
I'm glad I went and I absolutely did not hate the show, but it's simply too expensive to be worth multiple visits. Nor am I going to be thinking about it 10 - 15 years later.
P.S. I genuinely don't know if I'm going to do a write up on the Sleep No More show I saw on this trip. There's really not a lot to report. I might just write something when it finally closes… whenever that actually happens.

A Soft Place
In a post-Rumbling world, where the threat of Titans no longer looms, Vanessa Sinclair finds herself living a quiet life, working at her family’s bakery in Wall Rose. Curvy and self-conscious, Vanessa has always faded into the background, overshadowed by her more outgoing friends. But everything changes when Captain Levi Ackerman, Humanity's Strongest Soldier, begins visiting the bakery regularly. What starts as a simple exchange of tea and pastries quickly evolves into something more. Levi, drawn to her quiet strength and beauty, takes Vanessa on a journey that forces her to confront her insecurities, while learning that sometimes, what lies beneath the surface is more than enough. (Levi x Plus Sized OC)
Chapter Eighteen
Three months had passed since that chaotic, firework-filled night, and in that time, everything had changed for Levi and Vanessa. Their relationship had bloomed into something Levi hadn’t even known he was capable of having—a kind of happiness that felt almost foreign to him, but in the best way possible.
Levi found himself looking forward to each day in a way he hadn’t before. His life, once filled with nothing but battles, strategies, and death, now had something else—a quiet, steady joy that came from having Vanessa by his side. They had both settled into a rhythm, a comfortable closeness that neither had expected, but both cherished.
For Levi, life had always been about survival. He had built his existence on discipline and control, keeping his emotions in check because there was always another battle to fight, another mission to complete. But now, with the war behind him and Vanessa beside him, he realized there was more to life than just surviving.
Vanessa had shown him that.
In those months, Vanessa had blossomed as well. She was more confident, more sure of herself than ever before. The bakery thrived, and Vanessa thrived with it. Her smile was brighter, her laughter more frequent, and there was a lightness to her step that hadn’t been there before. It was clear to everyone around her that she was happy, truly happy, and a lot of that happiness came from Levi.
And it wasn’t just Vanessa who had changed. Levi had too.
He found himself smiling more, though in his usual understated way. The lines of tension that had once been a permanent fixture on his face had softened. He was still the same stoic, disciplined Captain, but now there was something more behind his eyes—something warm, something content.
The people close to them noticed it too. Hange had commented more than once on the way Levi’s mood seemed to have improved over the last few months. “You’re almost... dare I say it, pleasant now,” she had teased him one afternoon, grinning from ear to ear. “I’m blaming Vanessa for this. She’s the only explanation.”
Levi, of course, had grumbled something under his breath about Hange needing to mind her own business, but he couldn’t deny it. Vanessa had changed him. She had softened the edges of his life in ways he hadn’t expected, and now, he couldn’t imagine going back to how things were before.
Vanessa, for her part, had become more comfortable around him too. Where she had once been shy and unsure, she now had a playful confidence that Levi adored. She teased him sometimes, in ways that made his heart race in ways even Titans hadn’t.
One afternoon, while they were walking through the market, Vanessa had fallen into step beside him, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Hey, Captain,” she said, her voice light and teasing, as she nudged his arm gently.
Levi had shot her a sideways glance, the corner of his mouth twitching upward despite himself. There was something about the way she said “Captain” that always got to him. It was both playful and affectionate, and every time she said it, it sent a shiver down his spine that he couldn’t quite explain.
He didn’t respond right away, but Vanessa knew. She could always tell when she had gotten to him. It was in the way his lips pressed together just a bit tighter, the way his eyes would flicker with something that was half-annoyance, half-amusement.
“What, no response?” Vanessa had teased further, her laughter soft and full of affection. “I thought you liked it when I called you that.”
Levi had grunted, trying to maintain his usual stoicism, but he couldn’t hide the small smile that had tugged at the corner of his mouth. “You’re getting cocky,” he muttered, though there was no real bite in his words. He loved it, and she knew it.
Vanessa grinned at him, her eyes bright with affection. “Can’t help it, Captain,” she had said with a wink, before slipping her hand into his as they continued walking through the bustling streets.
Levi hadn’t known it was possible to feel like this. To feel... happy. For years, his life had been nothing but battle after battle, loss after loss. He had buried friends, comrades, and even parts of himself, believing that this was all there was. But now, with Vanessa, he realized that there was more. There was life beyond the fight. There was happiness beyond the pain. And for the first time, Levi felt like he was actually living.
He found himself thinking about that often, especially when he was with her. Whether they were spending quiet mornings together in her bakery, sipping tea while the first customers trickled in, or walking through the city, side by side, Levi realized that this—this—was what living was supposed to feel like.
It wasn’t just about surviving. It was about finding joy in the small moments. It was about being with someone who made everything just a little bit brighter. Vanessa had done that for him, and every day, he found himself more grateful for her.
Their relationship had grown stronger in ways neither of them had expected. They had shared quiet moments, passionate kisses, and even more playful teasing that had brought out a side of Levi that not many people got to see. But more than that, they had found a rhythm together—an ease, a comfort, a shared happiness that felt natural.
Levi still wasn’t the type to be overly expressive with his emotions, but Vanessa didn’t mind. She understood him in ways no one else did. She could read the subtle shifts in his expression, the quiet ways he showed affection—whether it was the way he always made sure she had the best seat at the table or the way he’d brush a stray curl from her face when she wasn’t looking.
And in return, Vanessa gave him a sense of peace that he hadn’t known he was capable of having. She made him feel seen, understood, and above all, cared for.
One evening, as they sat together in the bakery after hours, the soft glow of the setting sun casting a golden hue over the room, Levi looked at her—really looked at her—and felt something warm bloom in his chest.
He hadn’t known happiness like this before. Not even close. But now, with Vanessa beside him, he realized that this was what it meant to live. To truly live. And he wasn’t going to let it slip away.
Vanessa caught him staring, her lips curving into a soft smile as she tilted her head slightly. “What is it?” she asked, her voice gentle.
Levi shook his head, the faintest hint of a smile playing at his lips. “Nothing,” he muttered, though his eyes betrayed the depth of his feelings.
Vanessa chuckled softly, leaning closer to him as she rested her head against his shoulder. “You’re a terrible liar, Captain.”
Levi’s heart skipped at the sound of her voice, that familiar shiver running down his spine again. He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her just a little closer.
In that moment, everything felt perfect. And for Levi, that was more than enough.
…
A few days later Levi is adjusting the cuffs of his jacket, his movements calm but deliberate as he walked the familiar path to Vanessa's house. The cool evening breeze brushed against his face, and though it was a routine by now, he still felt a flutter of anticipation in his chest. Every Friday evening, without fail, he would come to her door, ready to take her on their weekly date. It had become something of a ritual between them, one he cherished more than he cared to admit.
Levi wasn’t one for grand gestures, but he took these moments seriously. It wasn’t about extravagance—it was about consistency, about showing up for Vanessa in the ways that mattered. And every time he walked up to her door, there was a quiet thrill that ran through him, knowing that behind that door was the woman who had become so integral to his life.
Tonight, he was taking her to the symphony, something a little more formal, and he found himself wondering how she’d look. The thought made him pause briefly, his heart skipping a beat, before he shook his head, trying to focus. Vanessa always managed to take his breath away, no matter how many times he saw her.
As he reached the door, Levi let out a soft breath, steeling himself before he knocked. The sound was firm but gentle, and within seconds, the door swung open, revealing a familiar face.
“Levi!” Vivian’s voice was warm and full of cheer as she greeted him. She beamed at him, her maternal energy radiating in full force, and for the hundredth time, Levi found himself taken aback by how genuinely welcoming she was.
“Good evening, Mrs. Sinclair,” Levi said, his voice respectful as always. He still wasn’t entirely used to the way Vivian treated him—like he was family, like he belonged here. It was a feeling he hadn’t had in decades, not since his mother had passed, but it was... nice. There was a warmth in Vivian’s presence that Levi silently appreciated, even if he wasn’t the type to express it outright.
Vivian, as usual, looked Levi up and down, her eyes twinkling with approval. “Looking sharp as always, Captain,” she teased, stepping aside to let him in. “Vanessa’s just finishing up. She’ll be down in a minute.”
Levi nodded, stepping inside the familiar home. It was cozy, filled with the scent of baked goods from earlier in the day, and Levi had come to associate the warmth of this place with Vanessa and her mother. It was like a haven—quiet, comforting, and full of life in a way that was so different from the cold, military life he was used to.
As they waited, Vivian leaned in slightly, lowering her voice conspiratorially. “You know, Levi, I was just telling the girls at the market about you. They couldn’t believe Vanessa snagged herself Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.” She winked playfully, her tone full of pride. “I’ve been bragging about you!”
Levi felt the faintest hint of a smile tug at the corner of his lips. Vivian’s approval had become something he quietly valued, though he rarely voiced it. There was a sincerity to her that reminded him of his mother—kind, strong, and fiercely protective of her daughter. It wasn’t lost on him that Vivian trusted him, and that trust was something he held with deep respect.
“Thanks,” Levi said simply, his tone gruff but grateful.
Vivian gave him a knowing look, patting his arm affectionately before stepping back just as footsteps echoed down the stairs.
Levi’s breath caught in his throat as Vanessa came into view, descending the stairs with the grace he had come to admire so much. She was wearing a stunning navy blue dress, simple yet elegant, the fabric hugging her figure in all the right ways before flowing down to her ankles. Her hair was pinned up in soft curls, and the delicate shimmer of gold jewelry framed her face perfectly. She looked... breathtaking.
Levi blinked, momentarily speechless, as he tried to gather his thoughts. No matter how many times he saw her like this, he was always captivated by her beauty, as if it was the first time all over again.
Vanessa smiled warmly when she saw him, her eyes lighting up as she descended the final step. “Levi,” she said softly, her voice filled with affection. “You look amazing.”
Levi cleared his throat, trying to shake off the daze she had put him in. “So do you,” he replied, his voice steady but laced with admiration. “You look... perfect.”
Vivian, who had been standing off to the side with a proud grin, made a small, pleased sound before stepping forward. “You two have a wonderful time tonight,” she said, her voice full of encouragement. “And Levi, make sure she’s back safe, alright?”
Levi nodded, meeting Vivian’s gaze with a look of quiet assurance. “Always.”
With that, he extended his hand to Vanessa, who took it with a smile, her fingers fitting easily into his as he led her toward the door. Vivian gave them a final wave, watching them with a look of contentment as they stepped out into the night.
Levi couldn’t help but glance at Vanessa as they walked side by side, his hand still holding hers. The way she moved, the way the soft glow of the street lamps illuminated her features—it was almost overwhelming. He had never expected to feel like this, to want someone so deeply, to care for someone in a way that went beyond anything he’d ever known.
As they made their way through the quiet streets, people couldn’t help but notice them. Heads turned as they passed, men and women alike admiring the striking couple. Levi, ever stoic, kept his eyes forward, but Vanessa could feel the attention they were getting, and it made her blush slightly.
Levi noticed, of course. He always noticed. “You alright?” he asked quietly, glancing at her from the corner of his eye.
Vanessa nodded, though she couldn’t help but feel a little flustered. “It’s just... everyone’s looking.”
Levi’s grip on her hand tightened slightly, his voice calm and steady. “Let them.”
Vanessa smiled at his words, her heart fluttering in her chest. There was something so endearing about the way Levi was both protective and assured. He made her feel safe, like nothing in the world could touch them when they were together.
As they arrived at the grand hall where the symphony was being held, Levi led her inside, his usual confidence returning as they stepped into the opulent space. The music hall was breathtaking, with high ceilings and intricate chandeliers that sparkled above them. The soft hum of conversation filled the air, and the gentle clink of glasses added to the elegance of the evening.
Levi, ever the gentleman, led Vanessa to their seats, pulling out her chair for her before taking his own. As the lights dimmed and the orchestra began to play, Vanessa leaned in slightly, her hand finding Levi’s under the table.
Levi turned his head slightly, glancing at her from the corner of his eye. “You enjoying yourself?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Vanessa nodded, her eyes shining in the dim light. “I always enjoy myself when I’m with you,” she whispered back, her words filled with affection.
Levi’s heart swelled at her words, and for a moment, he allowed himself to relax completely, the soft strains of music washing over them as they sat together, hand in hand.
…
During the intermission, the soft hum of voices and clinking glasses filled the air as the audience stretched their legs and mingled in the grand hall. Levi and Vanessa had stepped out into the elegant foyer, where a soft glow from the chandeliers bathed everything in warm, golden light.
Levi, ever the gentleman, stood close to Vanessa, his eyes scanning the crowd out of habit, even in such a peaceful setting. His posture was relaxed, but his ever-alert nature never fully left him. Vanessa, on the other hand, was soaking in the ambiance, her fingers brushing against Levi’s arm every so often as she spoke softly to him.
“Captain,” she began, her tone teasing as she gave him a playful nudge. “You know, I’ve been thinking…”
Levi raised an eyebrow, glancing down at her with mild curiosity. “What is it?”
Vanessa’s lips curved into a mischievous smile. “You do realize there’s a ten-year age gap between us, right?”
Levi blinked, his brow furrowing slightly. “I’m aware,” he replied, his voice calm as always, though there was a faint edge of amusement in his tone. He wasn’t quite sure where she was going with this, but he had a feeling it wasn’t going to end in a simple observation.
Vanessa couldn’t help but giggle at his matter-of-fact response, clearly enjoying herself. “I mean, don’t you feel like an old man taking me out to the symphony?” she teased, her eyes twinkling with playful mischief. “I should be calling you ‘Grandpa’ instead of ‘Captain.’”
Levi’s eyes narrowed slightly, though the corner of his mouth twitched upward in a way that showed he wasn’t actually annoyed. “You think that’s funny, huh?”
Vanessa, seeing that small smile threatening to break through Levi’s usually serious expression, only pushed further. “Well, Captain,” she said with a playful lilt, leaning closer, “if we keep this up, people might start thinking I’m your caretaker.”
Levi let out a soft grunt, shaking his head in mock exasperation. “Tch, caretaker? You’re the one who needs looking after. Who’s the one always spilling tea in the bakery again?”
Vanessa’s cheeks flushed slightly at the reminder, but she laughed anyway, not willing to let him get the upper hand. “Oh, so now I’m clumsy? You’re just deflecting because you don’t want to admit you’re old.”
Levi crossed his arms, his eyes steady as he looked down at her, that small smirk finally breaking free. “I don’t need to admit anything. Being older just means I know more than you do, and I have better instincts.”
Vanessa tilted her head, a mock-serious look on her face. “Is that so?” she asked, biting back a grin. “So... does that include knowing how to dance better than me? Or did they not teach you that back in the Stone Age?”
Levi’s smirk grew, and before Vanessa could react, he stepped closer, catching her completely off guard. His hand found hers, and with one smooth, fluid movement, he twirled her around in the middle of the foyer, pulling her close before dipping her gracefully. The other guests around them barely noticed, but for Vanessa, it was a dizzying, heart-fluttering moment.
When Levi pulled her back up, his face was close to hers, his voice low but filled with smug satisfaction. “I think I just answered your question,” he murmured, the warmth of his breath ghosting across her skin.
Vanessa’s heart raced, her face flushed with both surprise and amusement. She blinked up at him, speechless for a moment, before breaking into a wide grin. “Okay, I’ll admit, you’re good,” she whispered, breathless.
Levi let out a soft, satisfied hum, clearly enjoying her reaction. “Good to know,” he said casually, though the way his hand lingered on her waist said more than his words ever could.
Vanessa, still feeling the rush of the impromptu dance, let out a soft laugh, leaning her head against his shoulder for a moment. “Fine,” she said, her voice playful but affectionate. “You win this round, Captain.”
Levi’s lips quirked into a rare, small smile, his hand resting lightly on her back as they stood together. “I usually do,” he replied smoothly, his tone teasing but with a fondness that hadn’t been there in his life for years.
Vanessa playfully rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the affection that welled up inside her as she leaned into him. It was moments like these—when Levi let his guard down just enough for her to see the warmth beneath his cool exterior—that made her heart swell with love for him. The age difference didn’t matter to her, and she knew it didn’t matter to him either. What mattered was that they understood each other, supported each other, and in these small moments of teasing and affection, they found joy in a life that had once been filled with nothing but war.
“You know,” Vanessa said after a moment, her tone softening as she looked up at him, “age difference or not, I’m glad I’m with you.”
Levi’s expression softened at her words, his eyes meeting hers with a look that spoke of quiet gratitude. “Me too,” he said simply, though the weight of those two words carried a depth of emotion that only Vanessa could understand.
As the intermission drew to a close, Levi, ever the gentleman, offered his arm to Vanessa once more. “Ready to go back in?”
Vanessa nodded, slipping her arm through his, a smile still playing at her lips. “Lead the way.”
And with that, they returned to the symphony, hand in hand, their hearts full of something neither of them had expected to find: happiness.
..
After the symphony ended, Levi and Vanessa lingered for a few moments, letting the final notes of the music settle around them like a calming breeze. It had been a perfect evening—filled with quiet moments of connection, soft laughter, and Levi's subtle, endearing efforts to show her how much he cared. Vanessa smiled as they stood from their seats, her heart warm as they made their way to the exit.
As they reached the grand double doors that led outside, Levi opened them, and they were greeted by a soft, swirling curtain of white. Snowflakes drifted down from the sky, covering the cobblestone streets and buildings in a light dusting of snow. It hadn’t been snowing when they arrived, but now the city was quickly transforming into a winter wonderland.
Vanessa paused at the doorway, her breath catching in surprise. “Oh, wow,” she murmured, her eyes wide with delight as she looked up at the sky. The snow was falling softly, blanketing everything in sight, and it was breathtaking.
Levi, however, was already scanning the scene with a more practical eye. The snow, though beautiful, had arrived unexpectedly, and he knew how cold it could get once it settled. Without a second thought, he reached up and unbuttoned his jacket, slipping it off his shoulders in one smooth motion.
Before Vanessa could protest, Levi draped the jacket over her shoulders, the fabric still warm from his body heat. It wasn’t just a gesture—it was instinct. He had always been protective of those he cared about, and even though Vanessa had her own coat on, it wasn’t thick enough for the snow that had begun to fall more steadily.
“Levi,” Vanessa began, glancing down at the jacket now covering her. “You don’t have to—”
“Your coat’s too light,” Levi cut in, his voice calm but firm as he adjusted the jacket around her shoulders. “You’ll freeze out here.”
Vanessa blinked, taken aback by how quickly he had moved to protect her from the cold. Her heart swelled with affection as she looked at him, her smile soft and full of gratitude. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice quiet but filled with warmth.
Levi didn’t say anything in response, but the way his hand lingered at her shoulder for just a moment longer said everything. He always did this—took care of her in these quiet, unspoken ways. It wasn’t just about the jacket, or the snow, or any one thing. It was Levi’s way of showing his affection, of looking out for her without having to say the words.
They stepped out into the snow together, and Vanessa pulled the jacket closer around her, feeling the warmth and comfort it provided. The snow was coming down steadily now, coating the streets and buildings in a thin layer of white. It crunched softly under their feet as they walked, and the cold air was crisp and fresh, making the world feel both quiet and alive at the same time.
Levi, now walking beside her without his jacket, didn’t seem to mind the cold. His breath was visible in the air, but his posture remained as straight and composed as ever. The cold had never bothered him much—he was used to much harsher conditions from years in the military—but even so, Vanessa couldn’t help but feel a little guilty that he had given up his jacket for her.
“You know,” she began, glancing over at him as they walked, “you don’t always have to be such a gentleman.”
Levi raised an eyebrow, glancing back at her with that familiar deadpan expression. “I’m not trying to be a gentleman,” he said simply. “You were cold. It’s practical.”
Vanessa chuckled softly, her breath creating little puffs of mist in the air. “Right, practical,” she echoed, though her smile grew. “Well, whatever your reasoning, I appreciate it. You’re always looking out for me.”
Levi didn’t respond immediately, but there was a softness in his gaze as he looked at her, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly. “Someone has to,” he muttered, though there was no edge to his words—just quiet affection.
Vanessa’s smile widened as they continued walking through the snow-covered streets, their steps slow and unhurried. The city around them had fallen into a peaceful silence, the usual hustle and bustle of daily life now muted by the snow. The only sound was the soft crunch of their footsteps and the occasional distant clatter from a passing cart.
As they approached Vanessa’s home, Levi’s hand found its way to the small of her back, gently guiding her over a patch of slick ice on the ground. His touch was light but steady, and Vanessa felt a surge of warmth despite the cold air around them. She glanced up at him, her heart full as she realized just how much she had come to care for this man—this reserved, gruff, yet endlessly protective man who always seemed to know what she needed before she did.
When they reached her door, Vanessa turned to face him, her breath catching slightly as she looked up at him. The snow continued to fall gently around them, and for a moment, everything else seemed to fade away. It was just the two of them, standing together in the quiet of the night.
“Levi,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy.”
Levi’s expression softened, and for a moment, the usual guardedness in his eyes seemed to melt away. He didn’t say anything, but the way he looked at her, the way his hand lingered just slightly at her waist, spoke volumes.
Vanessa smiled, her heart full, and without thinking, she stood on her toes and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his cheek. The cold air made the warmth of the moment even more intense, and when she pulled back, Levi’s breath hitched slightly, his eyes locking onto hers.
He leaned in then, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips, the snow falling softly around them as they stood there, wrapped in the warmth of each other’s presence. It was a slow, tender kiss, filled with everything they hadn’t said—their shared affection, the quiet way they had come to rely on each other, the love that had grown between them in the months they had been together.
When they finally pulled apart, the world around them seemed a little brighter, a little warmer, despite the cold.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Levi said quietly, his voice steady but full of emotion.
Vanessa nodded, her smile soft as she watched him turn and walk back into the snowy night. Even as he disappeared into the distance, she could still feel the warmth of his presence lingering around her, his jacket draped over her shoulders like a protective shield.
And as she stood there, watching the snow fall softly around her, Vanessa couldn’t help but think that this—this—was everything she had ever wanted.

Shop Fronts: Your Business's First Impression
youtube
When it comes to attracting customers and making a memorable first impression, the design and appearance of your shop front play a pivotal role. In this article, we'll explore the significance of shop fronts, their impact on your business, and some essential considerations when designing or renovating them.
The Importance of Shop Fronts
Your shop front is the face of your business. It's the first thing potential customers see when passing by, and it sets the tone for their perception of your brand. A well-designed shop front can entice people to enter, while a neglected or unappealing one can deter them. Here are some key reasons why shop fronts matter:
Curb Appeal: An attractive shop front can draw the attention of passersby and make them curious about your products or services.
Brand Identity: Your shop front should reflect your brand's identity, conveying its personality and values.
Visibility: Clear and eye-catching signage can make your business more visible, even from a distance.
Customer Engagement: A well-designed shop front can engage customers emotionally, making them feel welcome and eager to explore.
Design Considerations
When designing or renovating your shop front, several essential considerations come into play:
Signage: Your business's name and logo should be prominently displayed. Choose fonts, colors, and styles that align with your brand identity.
Windows and Displays: Showcase your products or services through well-placed windows and displays. Ensure they are clean, well-lit, and regularly updated to keep things fresh and interesting.
Lighting: Proper lighting can highlight your shop front during the day and make it stand out at night. Consider energy-efficient LED lighting for both aesthetics and cost savings.
Accessibility: Ensure that your shop front is accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. This not only serves a diverse customer base but also complies with accessibility laws.
Materials: Select durable and weather-resistant materials for your shop front, as it's exposed to the elements year-round. Materials like glass, aluminum, and high-quality wood are popular choices.
Color Palette: Choose a color palette that resonates with your brand and appeals to your target audience. Consider color psychology to evoke specific emotions or associations.
Branding and Signage
Your signage is a critical component of your shop front's design. Here are some tips for effective branding and signage:
Clarity: Ensure that your signage is clear and legible from a distance. Use fonts and colors that are easy to read.
Consistency: Maintain consistency in your signage across all platforms, from your shop front to your website and marketing materials.
Size: Consider the size of your signage in relation to the building and surrounding structures. It should be proportionate and not overwhelm the overall design.
Illumination: If your shop operates after dark, illuminated signage can make a significant impact. LED signs are energy-efficient and offer various lighting effects.
Maintenance and Upkeep
Once you've designed an attractive shop front, regular maintenance is essential to keep it looking its best. This includes cleaning windows, updating signage, repainting as needed, and ensuring that lighting fixtures are functioning correctly. A well-maintained shop front reflects positively on your business and demonstrates your commitment to customer experience.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Before finalizing your shop front design, it's crucial to check local zoning regulations and building codes. Compliance with these regulations ensures that your design doesn't encounter legal issues or delays.
shop fronts are a vital aspect of your business's overall success. They serve as the gateway to your products or services and have a significant impact on customer perceptions. By carefully considering design elements, branding, signage, maintenance, and legal compliance, you can create an inviting and appealing shop front that sets the stage for a positive customer experience and business growth.

Enhancing Privacy and Hygiene: A Guide to Toilet, Washroom, and Restroom Cubicles
Toilet cubicles, washroom cubicles, and restroom cubicles are essential fixtures in public and private spaces, offering users privacy and comfort while ensuring hygiene. These partitions not only serve a practical function but also contribute to the overall aesthetic and cleanliness of the restroom. With growing concerns about personal space, cleanliness, and environmental sustainability, the design and material choices for cubicles have evolved to meet modern needs.
The Importance of Toilet Cubicles
Toilet cubicles are the cornerstone of any restroom, providing individuals with the necessary privacy and comfort during their use. In commercial, industrial, and public settings, privacy is critical to the overall user experience. Without proper toilet cubicles, individuals would feel exposed and uncomfortable, leading to a negative perception of the facility.
Toilet cubicles typically consist of walls and doors that enclose the user’s space, creating a barrier between them and the rest of the restroom. These cubicles can be designed in various sizes, catering to different types of facilities, from small offices to large shopping malls. The use of high-quality materials, such as laminated wood, stainless steel, and aluminum, ensures durability, resistance to water, and ease of cleaning.
Washroom Cubicles: A Step Further in Comfort and Functionality
Washroom cubicles are a broader term that includes not only toilet partitions but also cubicles for shower facilities and changing rooms. In gyms, hotels, and airports, for example, washroom cubicles are designed to cater to different user needs, such as storage for personal belongings, and the ability to change clothes or shower in private.
The design of washroom cubicles focuses on optimizing space without sacrificing privacy. Often, they feature sleek, minimalist designs that maximize both usability and aesthetic appeal. Features like ventilation, proper drainage, and anti-bacterial surfaces are increasingly becoming standard, ensuring that these cubicles remain hygienic even with high traffic.
Restroom Cubicles: Balancing Privacy, Accessibility, and Design
Restroom cubicles refer to the partitions found in public restrooms and often cater to a wide range of user needs. Restroom cubicle designs have to balance not only privacy but also accessibility, particularly for people with disabilities. Universal design principles dictate that these cubicles must allow enough space for wheelchair users and be equipped with supportive features, such as grab bars and wider doors.
In addition to practical considerations, restroom cubicles can also serve as a design element. In high-end establishments or hotels, cubicles may be made from luxurious materials like glass, marble, or wood to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the restroom. Lighting, color schemes, and the choice of hardware all play important roles in creating an inviting, modern restroom experience.
Material Choices for Durability and Hygiene
The choice of materials for cubicles plays a significant role in both functionality and maintenance. Materials like phenolic, stainless steel, and high-pressure laminate are durable, water-resistant, and easy to clean, making them ideal for high-traffic areas. For added hygiene, many cubicles now come with antimicrobial coatings, ensuring that germs and bacteria are minimized.
Conclusion
Toilet, washroom, and restroom cubicles are indispensable in maintaining privacy, hygiene, and comfort in public spaces. Whether in commercial buildings, offices, or public facilities, the design and material choices of cubicles have a significant impact on both user experience and the overall cleanliness of the restroom. As the demand for more sustainable and user-friendly designs increases, the cubicle market continues to evolve, offering solutions that meet both functional and aesthetic needs.

I don't know what's going on with this 1911 home in Spokane, WA, but I do love before & after photos. This house sold in 2019 for $900k.
The new owners completely redid it, and in 2021 the 5bd, 4ba, 5,520 sq ft home was sold for $1.15m. It was recently relisted for $1.212m, but was taken off the market. Check out the before & after.
Above is the original, below is current. So, the change they made to the entrance hall is basically a cleaner look. The home is a lovely Craftsman style.
They also gave the inglenook a more defined look- the original decor was light and frilly. I think that it's more Craftsmanlike this way. What do you think? I mean, they didn't ruin it at all with the reno.
I'm leaning toward liking the redo much better. The library looks fabulous.
They left the painted dining room, but gave it a level of sophistication and took away the wallpaper and multi-color pastels.
The old and new sun room decor. This was a very skillful redo.
What do you think of the new green kitchen? I love the flooring.
This is so well done. Look at the chef's stove and backsplash.
Beautiful pantry.
The bedrooms look very different, but this will give you an idea of how the decor was changed.
I don't know if they were made smaller, but they've been tastefully decorated with less florals, etc.
Actually, I like both baths. The original has vintage fixtures and the renovated one has a reproduction sink and a new shower, plus teal tile.
The old rec room and the new, complete with a full size wet bar.
The old pergola in the yard and the new one. Well, I have to say that I really love the renovation. They did a great job. To see all the before and after photos, click on the links below:
