Aldhani heist modern AU for Andor Appreciation Week 2023 - Day 3: Favourite Arcs ##

(Coruscant/Aldhani Valley) Vel Sartha, society girl, implicated in last year’s Aldhani Bank heist

Leaked documents from the Security Bureau allege collaboration of political and criminal elements on a not yet seen scale.

An investigation into the claims of Security Bureau agent Lt. Dedra Meero, who assembled the leaked file using confidential security documents, has been started. Experts doubt the validity of her claim that a yet unnamed leader, code name “Axis”, orchestrated the attack - in which eight bank employees and security officers lost their lives - with the goal to raise funds to establish a broad revolutionary alliance.

The investigation into the heist, in which over 12 tons of gold and an unknown amount of legal tender was stolen, has notoriously been kept under wraps, with no official suspect being named by Aldhani Valley Police as of yet. A political dimension had not been part of the conversation about the motive for the heist up until the leak. Some of the file was assembled from confidential sources, including a politically highly incendiary illegal missive by the SB about Sarthas’s cousin, Senator Mon Mothma. Parts of the document seem to come from redacted files and sources, with no explanation how Meero has obtained these. According to inside sources, intra- and interorganizational security leaks in the Bureau are already being investigated. The document claiming to identify the perpetrators and their motive was leaked online by a yet unnamed person, going by “A friend of Lt. Meero”, who claims to “not longer be able to sit idly by while a good officer who knows the truth gets no recognition for her work”. Meero’s lawyers maintain that she herself has not broken confidentiality and did not leak the document herself. Whoever leaked the documents faces charges for disseminating confidential SB information. The file also names Karis Nemik, founding member of the Alliance of Socialist Students (ASS) and a former officer of the Imperial Army, identified only as Lt. Gorn as co-conspirateurs. Also named are Cinta Kaz and Taramyn Barcona, two veterans of private security outfits that have served in multiple military tours overseas, as well as two more men, Cassian Andor and Arvel Skeen, who have minor criminal records. There are no current criminal investigations into any of the seven suspects. Besides Sartha, none of the accused have been present in the public or on social media in the last year. Unsourced rumors that at least the accused Lt. Gorn was actually one of the bodies found at the scene have yet to be confirmed.

Meero draws alleged connections between the suspects foremost through photographic evidence. Most of this evidence is already under scrutiny by officials and a vocal crowd online, with claims of image manipulation already going viral.

Various civil rights attorneys and organizations have already spoken up about the political dimension in the accusations against Sartha - especially because of her connections to the current senate - and Nemik, who has been an outspoken political activist in recent years. 

Members of the Mothma Senatorial office and Vel Sartha’s PR team have yet to comment.

Meanwhile, Sartha shared a cryptic post with the caption “Throwback to last year - I had been camping all spring!” on her various social medias.

Update Regarding the Death of Josephine the ISB Bonsai

After our investigation, Supervisor Meero and I have determined that the death of Josephine was due to someone smothering the poor bonsai in bacta gel. We are still looking for the culprit. However, Director Krennic has informed us that they stole the bacta gel from his office. He also suggested that the culprit is likely a Rebel who foolishly believed that bacta would heal the bonsai's broken branch. We are not sure how he came to this conclusion, but I am not allowed to question the conclusions of the Directors.

There is still a 500-credit reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest!

Rest in peace, sweet Josephine.

I’m pondering the same. Were they criminals or ‘criminals’ I.e. convicted of criminality against the Empire but not necessarily by anyone else’s standards, or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time like Clem Andor or…even worse…convicted of criminality in a similar way to Ezra’s parents, and because Dedra was so young and raised by the Empire, she’s never questioned it? 🤔🤔🤔

Also anyone else confused about Dedra’s age now? I’d assumed she was a similar age to Denise but Dedra ‘I was raised in an Imperial Kinderblock since the age of 3’ Meero implies she’s much younger as the Empire hasn’t been around long enough otherwise…my calculations could be wrong but the Empire isn’t even 20 years old at the Battle of Yavin in ANH so for Dedra to have been raised by the Empire from the age of 3…

Unless it’s simply a case of not being permitted to refer to anything before the Empire so it’s always been an Imperial Kinderblock to Dedra even though it may have started off as a Republic social services scheme… 🤔🤔🤔

the "my parents were criminals" Dedra moment really really reminded me of that Rhea Seehorn quote where she said she played Kim as "someone who has had an alcoholic for a parent" from the very beginning. With a very important seasoning of ... Kim Wexler knew that to be actually true. But does Dedra?

18. What are they like when they're drunk? How do they act together? & when 1 is drunk, while the other one's sober? (I have no idea why or how Syril and Dedra would be drunk together, but.)

11. Well, we both know the only person making lunches is Syril. <3 But as for notes, I think they would be functional, like THIS IS DRESSING on the little jar of salad dressing or CUTLERY IN OTHER COMPARTMENT or things like that. Maybe like, a choice quote from the Emperor on the back, or some interesting fact or other. It's not that I don't think Syril is That Kind Of Wife Guy because he absolutely is, I just don't think the concept of a little note that says "I love you! Have a great day!" etc. in a lunch is something that either of them are familiar with. I don't think it would be in their vocabulary.

18. Ooh I have been thinking about this recently actually! I don't think either of them drink much, if at all. Neither of them like the idea of losing control. So they're both complete lightweights and genuinely out of their depth in social situations where drinking is expected (or worse, encouraged!). Thankfully for them both neither of them have many of those to go to, although that might change in season 2! If they get drunk together I think they'd both be a little more relaxed than if they did so apart from each other. He might absentmindedly reach for her hand underneath the table and she might absentmindedly take it, something like that.

Dedra I can sort of see getting blackout drunk by herself if she's crashing out. If Syril's still in the picture then as soon as he found her like that he'd be in crisis mode - sitting her up and making sure she's breathing, fetching her water and blankets and something to be sick into, tossing out whatever it is she's been drinking. I guess how Dedra reacts depends on how conscious she is when he gets to her - she either fights and insults him, or is too incapacitated to do either.

If he's not around for whatever reason, then the next day the sunlight will find her eventually. She might have responsibilities to attend to that mean she has to peel herself off of her bed or the couch or the floor and clean up as best she can and head out - or she might have nothing to slow her fall at all any more. I guess we'll have to see. (😭)

Syril is definitely not the sort of person to drink alone alone, but I've written him going to a bar, and I do think if he makes some friends that they might cajole him into coming to the pub. He's a lightweight and he's also so desperate to belong, so I feel like he might be that friend who's like "🥹 I love you guys 🥹" and then falls over. Dedra would be deeply unimpressed if she saw him but maybe something would stir at the sight of him looking at her with a rosy glow in his eyes...

If Dedra isn't around any more then I don't think he'd want to drink even if people tried to persuade him.

I don't know *what* they would drink, though. Neither of them would like beer. Wine would have to be good quality and neither of them are going to waste their credits like that. Maybe a cocktail but again, those are expensive! I can see Dedra sipping at a negroni perhaps. Neat liquor if she's on a bender.

30. No pet names! Dedra calls him Mr. Karn at work and Syril outside of it. Syril might think of her as darling or honey or sweetness but he'd never call her that except as a slip of the tongue. It's Lieutenant Meero in front of others and Dedra when they're alone together and Supervisor in the bedroom.
