The Liberty L-12 Aircraft Engine, Planes,Automobiles and Records!
The Liberty L-12 engine was a V12 design with a water-cooled configuration, developed during World War I for aviation purposes. In May 1917, a month after the United States had declared war on Germany, a federal task force known as the Aircraft Production Board summoned two top engine designers, Jesse G. Vincent (of the Packard Motor Car Company) and Elbert J. Hall (of the Hall-Scott Motor…

Having a day and need to distract myself so I'm going to over analyze a throw-away line from Speed Racer 2008. Any mention of Speed Racer in this essay is in regards to that movie.
Before reading this understand that Speed Racer is a movie about macro economics effecting the individual. Any science talk is just flavor to that, and studies like this take a lot of liberty.
youtube
"Pops. Thats a Bernoulli Converginator!" "Transponder Shmonder. You want real kick you go Bernoulli."
What the fuck is a Bernoulli Converginator and why is it a big deal.
Now. First assumption. Bernoulli is a companly like Edison Motors or Tesla. Named after someone famous in the history of physics and electronics and speed.
I'm watching a video about Spider-Man 2, and how to make a good sequel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCVYDrtecDY
In it we hear Doc Ock talking to Peter about Bernoulli, and Peter asks "Did Bernoulli sleep before he found the curves of quickest descent?"
I'm going to assume that this was a well researched line, because Spider-Man 2 tries to be at least somewhat accurate with its real world physics, I think.
Looking it up, the Bernoulli family lineage has a lot of mathematics in it. Daniel Bernoulli is who we're talking about in regards to Speed Racer, for sure. His findings lead to the invention of the carburetor.
Sidebar: He was friends with Euler. I wonder if Speed Racer Universe has a company called Euler. They created a theory that explained how steel can bend without cracking. The racing cars in Speed Racer, the T-180, are essentially jets with wheels. They don't turn the wheel to turn the wheels. They turn the wheel to turn the engine.
Bernoulli's principle states that an increase in the speed of a fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in static pressure or the fluid's potential energy
Another sidebar, apparently Mach is the measure of how fluids relate to the Bernoulli Principle. No clue what that relationship is. From what I can garner, it has to do with the idea that going faster fucks with the pressure of air impacting the thing going fast.
Actually, I don't think thats a sidebar. I think that can lead to the answer of "what the hell is a Bernoulli Converginator". We have an answer to what the Bernoulli half is now. Its short for Bernoulli's Principle, which has to do with Mach speeds and how they influence the pressure around something going fast.
That leads to the next question, what is a converginator? Converginator as far as I can tell is something that the Speed Racer movie came up with. So, lets break it into its principle parts. Converginate and "or". "Or" is usually a suffix that means "something that does the thing being modified". Convergence is the act of unifying, in multiple definitions. So, this is a device that unifies bernoulli's principle.
What the heck does that mean. We know that it makes things go fast, and its a power supply, and it has kick. Another throw away line with lots of weight becomes important here.
Actually, rolling back a bit first. Some more bits about the converginator. When they get the Mach 6 Car going, it starts up sounding like a V12 Engine. Or as Speed puts it, "Sounds beefy Pops."
So something about it has something similar to gearing. The design of it reflects that too. It looks like a scifi version of 6 piston engine. T-180s are all electric. So what the heck is making that noise? For right now, I'm going to either assume magnets or something causing a lot of increase or decrease to pressure.
Might be important to talk about why they're using a Converginator. The finale of the movie showcases the battle between new technology optimized by a company, and a dedicated practice working with the tools they know for the customer they know. The company they're up against created a car that uses something called the Transponder. I'm going to ignore that for now, or until this essay decides its suddenly relevant. What we need to focus on now is how a Bernoulli Converginator works to Speed's abilities and knowledge.
Now, onto that important throw away line. Speed spins out, and his car stalls, and these races don't do pit crews. He has to figure out how to get it running again, and he can only rely on the foresight of Pop's designing, and his own knowledge of that design. That foresight leads to him remembering that he can jumpstart the car with the Bernoulli Converginator. So, this thing has to be making power somehow. Either that, or its messing with potential energy.
The fluid in this case is probably air, given that aerodynamics is important. This thing can turn air pressure into electricity. Thats pretty damn cool. It reduces the pressure of the air around the car, and turns that pressure into electricity. Converting that air's potential energy into kinetic energy. This lines up with the movie I think, cause when Speed does that, he fuckin zooms. Cars don't just magically go faster than their top speed. This guy didn't just jumpstart his car. He made a mario panel speed boost to the finish line with an expert supermove that only the bernoulli converginator can do.

A WWI Liberty V12 Aero Engine Distributor Cap Cigar Ashtray
This is the only one of its kind that we’ve ever seen, it’s the distributor cap from a Liberty L-12 WWI-era V12 aircraft engine that’s been turned into a cigar ashtray. The Liberty L-12 was a 27 liter water-cooled V12 designed by engineers Jesse G. Vincent and Elbert J. Hall whom the American Aircraft Production Board had hired shortly after the US joined WWI in 1917. Here we see Major Henry H.…

You would be amazed at how many Fortune 500 companies were founded in exactly this way.
For instance, the present incarnation of Ford was actually the third car company founded by Henry Ford. The second- also called Ford- was shut down in 1902, after Henry was forced out after disputes with his investors. The backers, expecting to liquidate the factory, brought in a local engineer named Henry Leland to appraise the machinery; as it happened, though, Leland had recently designed his own engine that would perfectly compliment cars the factory could produce, and persuaded the owners to instead relaunch more or less as Ford had left it, but using his engine. They renamed it Cadillac.
In 1909, Cadillac was sold to the fledgling General Motors. During WWI, GM was offered a $10,000,000 contract (~$200,000,000 in today's money) to build the massive V12 Liberty engines used in a variety of planes and military vehicles, but turned it down, because the founder and CEO of General Motors, William Durant, was a pacifist. As a result, one of GM's top executives quit the company to pursue the contract on his own, and in 1917 founded the Lincoln Motor Company. It was very successful, and after the war the company designed a scaled down version of the Liberty engine and a luxury car to go around it. In 1922, Lincoln was bought for $8,000,000 by Henry Ford.
To put it another way, Cadillac- famously a GM brand- was reborn from a Ford company, and Lincoln- famously a Ford brand- was founded by a GM executive. Where the story gets VERY interesting, though, is that the executive who founded Lincoln... was Henry Leland, who had been allowed to stay on at GM after Cadillac was bought up. So, not only did Cadillac have their roots with Ford and Lincoln with GM, but both companies consider their founder to be the same person.
I don't think you can find a non-religious situation with more overtones of religious schism than that.
i think that companies that get big enough to have devout followings should be able to have schisms like churches

Q: What's better than a 7-litre V8? A: A 27-litre V12. That's what. For you yanks out there, that's 1647 cubic inches. This insane machine was dubbed "Lucy" by its creators Clive and Bruce Woolley, after Clive's mother's middle name. Sitting at the heart of this monstrosity is a 1943 Liberty tank engine. Initially a WW1 airplane engine, but by WW2 it had found itself being put into service in tanks. Now it scares people around South Africa. It is a beautiful creation, and one ideally seen (and heard) in real life, especially to see (and hear) rather large flames being spat out by the 12 individual exhausts. Utter madness. Oh, and 1550Nm with a redone at 1650rpm. With mundanity seemingly being bread into just about every vehicle by just about every manufacturer these days, it is incredible to see that there are still individuals out there willing to build such utter madness! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #v12 #27litre #tankengine #liberty #rollroyce #diybuild #homemade #madness #dragon #breathefire #shootingflames #flameon #southafrica #johannesburg #joburg #jozi #classiccarafrica #cpca #autofotograf #autofotografwien #wienerfotograf #wien #oliverhphoto #libertyl12 #fokker (at Johannesburg, South Africa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHcuJHsl3_T/?igshid=16e9ntos3ny0a

Project Cyber
There was a reason for the earlier noise. Stellar Spirit was testing a new model of her latest passion project. It was fitted with a V12, rather than the V10 of the previous (and first) model. It had much larger boost pods, as well. Rather than 1,200 from before, it was now pushing about 1,350 horsepower, and could reach just over 600 kilometers-per-hour with the boost engaged. Like before, she did have to cheat reality to keep the damn thing faithful to the source material, but not as much as she had previously, meaning it was more metaphysically stable.
The machine functioned almost flawlessly now. Perhaps with a bit more tuning, it'd be ready for the next race. Now, she just needed a backup AI to take the place of Spark in case of her absence... One that wouldn't require her to rely on someone else to have it function correctly...
Should she do it? Should she recreate the original cyber system from the source material? Or should she try something entirely new? That was... a difficult question. It was most certainly tempting, but... she wasn't sure she could nail it first try, and she preferred to get things right the first time.
... Then, it hit her. She'll do both. She'll base the backup system on the source material, but take a few design liberties to keep it interesting, and to prevent it from just being a direct copy. Proooobably gonna keep the original voice, though.

A27M Cromwell IV ‘T190003’ by Alan Wilson Via Flickr: Official designation:- Tank Cruiser MkVII Built by Leyland Motors, Farington, Lancashire, UK. British registration T190003. On display in the Tank Story Hall at The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, UK. 26-7-2016 The following information is from The Tank Museum website:- “The origins of Cromwell are complicated. They began with an attempt by Morris Motors to design a new Cruiser Tank for the 57mm gun, and ended with Rolls-Royce developing a new V12 engine known as the Meteor (derived from the Spitfire's Merlin) for use in tanks. Designed in 1942 it took nearly two years to rid the new tank of faults and it was not ready for action until June 1944. By this time it was, in many respects, two years out of date. Firepower had been improved by the fitting of a 75mm gun but nothing could be done to improve protection and the tank had to rely very much on its speed. In terms of mobility, however, it was excellent. The engine, coupled to a Merritt-Brown transmission, supported on the famous Christie suspension, enabled the tank to maintain high speeds across country or spin around in its own length. Cromwell tanks were issued to 7th Armoured Division and the reconnaissance regiments of other armoured divisions. In this role they were superb, heading the six-day dash across Europe which freed Antwerp and Brussels at speeds which prevented the Germans from establishing strong defence lines. Cromwells remained in service for some years after the war and a few served with British forces in Korea. The Cromwell was produced in eight marks in 1943-44. Many (including the Mark IV) were ordered as Liberty engined Centaurs but completed as Cromwells. In turn, remanufacturing earlier Cromwells produced the Cromwell Mark VII and the MarkVIII.”

The oldest flying Boeing today, the beautiful Model 40. This gorgeous piece of art was restored by the talented @pembertonandsons in Spokane, Washington and now is part of the WAAAM Western AntiqueAeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River Oregon.
In 1925, the US Post Office issued a requirement for a mailplane to replace the ex-military DH-4s then in use. The new aircraft was required to use the same water-cooled Liberty V12 engine as used by the DH-4, of which large stocks of war-built engines were available. The resultant aircraft, the Boeing Model 40, was a conventional tractor biplane, with the required Liberty engine housed in a streamlined cowling with an underslung radiator. The aircraft's fuselage had a steel tube structure, with an aluminum and laminated wood covering. Up to 1,000 lb of mail was carried in two compartments in the forward fuselage, while the single pilot sat in an open cockpit in the rear fuselage. The wings and tail were of wooden construction, and the Model 40 had a fixed conventional landing gear.
The Model 40 made its first flight on July 7, 1925. Although the prototype was purchased by the US Post Office, the production order went to the Douglas M-2.

Liberty Walk Lamborghini Aventador Draws Attention In Hollywood

Liberty Walk Lamborghini Aventador Draws Attention In Hollywood
Here’s the recipe for social media achievement: take one Lamborghini , ideally a roadster, add a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer liberty walk widebody kit , apply army-green satin vehicle wrap, throw in four deep-dish aluminium wheels, and slam this to the ground. Next, add photos and wait fifteen minutes. Voila! Instant likes. This particular Los Angeles-based tuning shop has done just that. RDB represents Repair, Design, Build, as well as the guys have clearly already been working overtime on this most recent build, transforming a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4 Roadster into a mean, green, eye-catching machine.
[embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=5yif_w2I8L8&feature=oembed[/embed]
Even in share trim, the first generation Aventador is no slouch. When it first showed in 2011, this was a “clean sheet of paper” style for the marque. Sporting the 6. 5-liter V12 motor that develops 690 hp at 8, 250 rpm, the Lambo routes capacity to all four wheels via a good automated single-clutch manual 7-speed gearbox. The car’s framework consists of an one-piece carbon fiber traveler cell mated to front side and rear aluminum structural subframes.
RELATED: 8 Cool Photos Associated with Cars You Didn't Understand Looked Good With A Broad Body Kit
Beginning with this solid platform, RDB then proceeded to take this to the next level. The carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer widebody kit used on this particular build comes from Liberty Walk , the Japan-based supplier of high quality sets for a wide variety of makes and models. Additionally , signature forged alloy tires complete the stance.
“It’s got a lot carbon fiber, it's ridiculous. Within and outside, ” states Vik Tchalikian of RDB. “All the vents, the particular wings, all the canards, front side lips … rear vender … side skirts. actually, really aggressive style. ”
This particular build would not have been comprehensive without performance enhancement too. “This car has a complete exhaust system so it's really noisy, ” said Tchalikian.
According to the builder, there is been some Lambo trash-talking lately on social media. “You guys know us, all of us don’t like to get involved in theatre too much, but recently we have been seeing some Aventadors that are literally getting wraps and wheels, and virtually talking big on Instagram … Claiming all kinds of poo really, ” he mentioned. “They don’t have widebody, these people don’t have stances like this, these people don’t have all this stuff heading on…”
“We’re doing this so often that we are used to it now. All of us don’t need to showboat …You guys see it. You know what we are all about, ” he mentioned.

La Formula.. Social !
Nuovo Logo (mandando in pensione l’ormai icona storica).
Social.
