thank you all for your love and support!! it genuinely means so, so much to me and i could not be more grateful. watching mamma mia! for the first time honestly really inspired me and i've loved ABBA for a while now already, and i thought it'd be fun to make bots inspired by the songs!! (and yes there are like 3 or 4 songs not included, i know)

i decided to do them split up based on the fandoms i am apart of, because the songs (i feel) are versatile and I don't think that there are characters from a single movie/show that would be able to be used for every song. i would've loved to do abba/mamma mia x challengers, but not every song can be applied to tashi, art, and patrick, which is why i did characters from different movies/shows :)

So now that we're 1 week out from our first look at Universes Beyond: Marvel, I figured I'd go ahead and toss this out here: what Marvel characters do you most want to see get a card? Feel free to chime in with either popular characters you think actually have a good chance or those obscure characters that you would love to see even if you don't think they're super likely.

For me, I'm 99% certain Thor and Deadpool will make it in, but I also think Squirrel Girl has a fairly good chance. She's not exactly mainstream popular, but she's not the most obscure character and I'm sure MaRo probably jumped at the chance to sneak some squirrels into the Marvel set.

My obscure picks are Koi Boy and Escapade, entirely because both characters are canonically trans and I just want to see more trans characters on Magic cards. I think they have a 1% chance of getting cards, but I would love to see them.

The thing is, I’m just not a fan of the whole “is a killer of killers just as evil as the killers he’s killing?” theme that Kraven The Hunter is about. Especially at a time LIKE THIS (with you know who, even tho there was no way the filmmakers could’ve predicted such atrocious timing.)

Anyway, if they really wanted to emphasize that Sergei was a hypocrite, then…

They should’ve highlighted his fascination with the weapons poachers use when he recycles them for himself.

They should’ve emphasized his overindulgent use of a private plane and how harmful that is to the environment he claims to value.

They should’ve included a strain in his and Dimitri’s relationship, given Sergei only visits him once a year for his birthday and never any day besides that (is there any love between them if his visits are solely based on guilt?)

They should’ve emphasized that the brown leather vest he wears was made from an animal he killed himself (because how else did he get it?) Foreshadowing him putting on the lion’s vest in the finale.

They should’ve emphasized that his refusal to leave Calypso alone and his persistence to work with her despite her grievances has put her in danger, just as his father’s refusal to leave him alone and his persistence to work with Sergei has put Dimitri in danger. That they are selfish in similar ways.

The movie definitely needed to highlight Sergei’s “negatives” more, because his objective of murdering poachers was just not enough to make him a “villain” in my eyes. So Dimitri’s line about he and their father being the same, actually Sergei being worse than their father, really confused me.

I think this movie suffers from the misunderstanding that society today does not view the act of murder as inherently wrong. That majority of the population nowadays believe in nuance when it comes to situations like this, and the why is much more important when it comes to us rendering a verdict.

Kraven simply killing poachers is not enough to make 2024 viewers see him as “evil”. If anything, the direct opposite. So they really needed to invest much more in his flaws if they truly wanted to make him out to be a soon-to-be-villain, rather than just an anti hero.
