Embodiment of love
@pchberrytea tagged me!! And then my partner had to help me take it because I couldn't figure out how to do it well??? Its fun and cool they just do uquiz better.
I tag @maxiseden since I think this would be fun for your blorbos and @plasma-packin-mama cuz I love Delilah & Arcade and would love to see what they get!! And! Copying Tea here, if you want an excuse to be tagged for this then CONGRATS. It's you. You've been tagged. You're it.
Also, I guess some spoilers for pairings for my characters...?
💕 RULES: Take this quiz for your OC/ship.
Without further ado:
Amy/Butch
[ love is beautiful because it's built deliberately ] when casey mcquinston wrote "that's the choice. i love him, with all that, because of all that, on purpose. i love him on purpose" and when jenny slate tweeted "i just want someone to grab my little face and scream on purpose, on purpose i am going to care about you" and when jodi picoult wrote "after fifteen years, love isn't just a feeling. it's a choice" and when the good place said "if soulmates do exist, they're not found they're made"
Man this one HURTS. It hurts in the long term, and it hurts in the short term. They communicate terribly, they understand each other better than most people understand them, they argue a lot and also are the bestest friend the other has ever had. I've said this for a while, but if things had panned out differently these two would've been best friends all the way back in the vault. And this invokes all that for me, but also. In context of where they end up by the end of the story... It hurts so so so bad. They never stop choosing each other even long long after.
They're always touching each other, holding each other, putting their hands on the other. A punch, a hug, holding each other's face. Hands holding, Butch arm around Amy's shoulder, Amy always ready and willing to hold Butch when he needs it. The world is shitty, but they're together.
Sunshine/Half Pint
[ devotion: love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause ] when ruth said to naomi "where you go, i will go, and where you stay, i will stay. your people will be my people, and your God my God" and when hozier sang "i'll be the dreadful need from the devotee that drove [orpheus] underground" and when deathcab for cutie sang "if there's no one beside you when your soul embarks, i will follow you into the dark"
So if Butch/Amy hollowed me out, this one knocks me in the teeth and guts me. YES. YES. THIS IS THEM. These courier dorks will follow each other to the very ends of earth, to hell and back again, will be by each other's side till the very end and beyond. They die by each other's side. Literally. It doesn't matter what happens this two are soulmates eternally devoted to each other.
They are "I love you in this life and when I'm someone else entirely" and "I love you when you burn down the world", "I love you when you're a monster", "we're monsters together".
Leo/MacCready/Hancock
[ love as gentleness after a lifetime of cruelty ] when ocean vuong said "sometimes being offered tenderness feels like the very proof that you've been ruined" and when pablo neruda said "like a jar you housed the infinite tenderness and the infinite oblivion shattered you like a jar" and when anais mitchell wrote "all i've ever known is how to hold my own, and now i wanna hold you, too”
crying, actually crying
This is the boys. This is the boys all the way. They're all so fucked up and hurt and love each other so much, and yeah they're TENDER. When I think of Leo/Hancock it's such gentle touches and adoring looks and holding each other gently. It's softly spoken words. It's staring into each others eyes. Mac/Leo is sharing the weight of a trauma, it's defending the other to the other, it's giggles and warmth by the fire as they help the other unwind. Hancock/Mac is camaraderie. It's being debaucherous fools who wind up holding each other. It's having their arms wrapped around each other and laughing.
Hopefully there will be a pt.2 with more members of the quartet (Sunshine/Half Pint/Deacon/Danse) (ik ik ik trust me it WILL work even if I forget why sometimes) (we've gone to crackship hell and we WILL radicalize Danse). Maybe for Mae/Takeshi? Maybe for Mae and someone else? A lot maybes.

Sole Survivor Christmas Head Canons
I was tagged by @scorpio-skies! This took a couple days because I wanted a couple of Christmas-y screenshots to include here. Enjoy! :D
1. What was your soles attitude towards Christmas before and after the apocalypse? Are they religious?
Nate Howard the family man loved Christmas in Sanctuary Hills, with Nora, Shaun, Codsworth, and all of his family and friends having a great time. It was a nice change of pace from Anchorage and the war effort he had just left so he relished the chance to enjoy the time.
Post-apocalypse however, Christmas has become a tough time, seeing other families enjoying their time together brings back the memories and the pain, usually leading to him finding solace at the bottom of a bottle and drinking himself into a stupor.
He never really considered religion pre-war. Even in the heart of the war as a soldier, he didn’t give the concept much thought. Post-war however, he has thought a lot about the afterlife in particular, hoping that one day he’ll see Nora again. The religion he’d most associate with in the Commonwealth would be the All Faiths religion preached by Pastor Clements in Diamond City (which basically allows people to believe whatever they want as long as they find peace through it).
2. What was their childhood memories about the Christmas holidays? What did they get for presents from their family/friends?
He remembers spending Christmas one year at his uncle’s cabin in Anchorage, long before the war came to America. It was there where his uncle first taught him how to shoot a rifle, also teaching him to only shoot if he had a good reason to. As a child, he’d get standard toys and games (and a rifle from his uncle which his parents definitely didn’t approve of).
3. What was Christmas like with their spouse/partner and other members of their family? Presents they would give each other?
Christmas during his service wasn’t always guaranteed but once he retired, Christmas was always a great affair, with a big party thrown at their house for friends and neighbours with copious amounts of alcohol, Christmas songs on holotape, and awkward cheesy dancing. In the evening, once everyone else had gone, he and Nora would relax by the fire and watch that year’s Grognak Christmas Special together.
Their first, and only, Christmas with Shaun was mostly made up of a quiet day with just the four of them (Codsworth was included, of course), where they just opened Shaun’s presents and put them in his room, ready for when he’d be old enough to play with them. For Nora, he got her law degree framed and gave it pride of place on the shelf, whilst she got him socks (she was never any good with gift-giving but sometimes she had her moments… this wasn’t one of them).
4. What would sole give the companions/friends for Christmas?
Preston – He’d get him a new duster, radstag hide with an armoured lining and an upgrade for his laser musket, courtesy of Arturo.
Piper – Given which Christmas this is, and how far they’d progressed in their relationship, he’d propose and move her and Nat into Sanctuary with him.
Leo (another OC) – He’d get any science books he could find for Leo, hoping that the distraction would calm his mind and maybe even bring him back to some sense of normalcy, reading things he previously studied with Ernie.
Dogmeat – The finest brahmin meat caps could buy. Also a bandana, goggles, and armour because war doggo.
Danse – He’d give Danse a day at the firing range with him, followed by a feast of snack cakes and whiskey.
Burke (OC from @scorpio-skies) – He’d give Burke one of his old comic books from before the war and the rifle he had as a boy, promising to teach him how to shoot properly.
Old Longfellow – Alcohol, drink, booze, spirits, and liquor.
Hancock – He’d get him Addictol to try to curb his addictions, realise he won’t change, and just get him some Jet.
Rhys and Haylen – Along with Piper, he’d try to get the pair to kiss, trying to tactically place mistletoe between them at every opportunity.
Codsworth – Codsy would get fluffy pink socks to wear over his appendages and a top hat.
Cait – A genuine swatter would be perfect for Cait. That, and finally accepting her offer of a sparring session in the Combat Zone.
Nick – Cigarettes, a new trench coat, and he’d show him the memorial he and the other companions had made for his former fiancée, Jennifer.
Curie – Science books, equipment “borrowed” from the Prydwen’s research centre, and he’d accompany her around the Commonwealth to gain new experiences.
X6 – He’s lucky Marcus hasn’t killed him outright. No presents for him.
Mac – Ditto.
Strong – A pet mirelurk hatchling which, much to Strong’s joy, grows up to be a queen.
5. What other sole do you know they would like to kiss under the mistletoe?
Don’t know many people’s OCs yet unfortunately but he’d give @scorpio-skies ‘s Nora Hart a friendly peck on the cheek, whilst avoiding the glare Danse is shooting his way.
And now for a few screenshots of Marcus’ Christmas in the Commonwealth (I had to take them on console and the lack of a free cam makes things really tough!).
If only I could mod in some mistletoe here...
Nice shot of their full ensembles, Marcus in his red Argyle sweater vest and Piper in the Christmas dress.
A nice shot of the Sniper of Santa-tuary about to make a faraway raider listen to Reason.
Ho ho BANG!

Ficlet 3
“You look like you could use this.”
Leo looked up from the bar counter as Hancock pushed an inhaler of Jet towards him, eyebrows furrowed under his hat. He picked the inhaler up and turned it over in his hands idly.
“What’s wrong?” Hancock sat beside him and propped his feet up on Leo’s knees. He grinned at MacCready, who was working the bar that day. “What’s up, Mac?”
“Working. Can’t say the same for you.” There was no venom in his voice, however, and he served Hancock a beer without being asked.
“Thanks.” Hancock drained it in one go and then returned his attention to Leo “So, spill. What’s wrong?
"It’s… Danse,” Leo said carefully.
“Oh, God, what’d he do?”
Leo watched Hancock shake a few mentats out of his tin and take them dry. He almost cringed, feeling the ghost of bitterness across his tongue.
“He… look, Hancock, it’s really personal.” Leo fidgeted, and Hancock sat up straighter.
“What happened? Did he say something sideways to you? Did he… hit you?”
“Jesus, John, no!” Leo looked surprised. “No, nothing like that, he’s not like that. It’s just… we had sex last night.”
MacCready picked up his wash rag and moved to another section of the counter pointedly.
“Okay. Yeah, nothing new.”
“Well, when we were done we were laying there and it was quiet, you know? And…” Leo put his head in his hands. “Hancock, he just kinda looked at me with this dopey ass grin and you know what he said to me?”
“Uh… Can I wear the power armor next time?”
“‘Ad victorium’. He said 'ad victorium’. Don’t…”
Hancock erupted into laughter, drawing the attention of the nearby settlers.
“Hancock, seriously-”
“Ad v-victorium! Jesus! Oh fuck, that’s good!”
“You’re the worst.”
