NEVERMORE FANDOM I NEED YOUR HELP

I don't care if its still august I live for halloween.... so as you do, im already planning my costume because im extra like that and I refuse to ever stop dressing up even if im bedridden for the holiday! (but that's a story for another time).

despite me not being 6ft (I am so jealous of that) I am planning on doing a Lenore costume/cosplay because I love the victorian inspired garb that is the nevermore uniform, and its also and excuse for me to look hot in a cravat..... here's where I need some advice ( or someone to talk me out of a bad idea ) TECHNICALLY I have really long hair, but since its curly, when in a ponytail, its near the exact same length as Lenore's. my hair isn't black, but its so damn dark brown that from some distances it looks black, so I don't need a wig or anything to look convincing... here's the issue though, I don't have poliosis, so I don't have any white hair, so there are two options, the first (sane) one is to buy some with extensions and just hide them under my thick hair so it looks like I have two toned hair like Lenore's.... OR, having NEVER cut my hair more than an inch or dyed it... ever, but something in me is telling me I need to bleach my lower section of hair for the costume and give myself an undercut.

Happy (early) Halloween! Here are some photos of the from my home-shoot of Lenore from Castlevania - If you know me personally, I love ALL things Vampire and the Castlevania games and series is no exception. I was very apprehensive and worried about how the photos would turn out due to feeling incredibly sick in the stomach from a bug to imposter syndrome telling me I’m not a professional and to give up right then and there. Regardless, I’m very happy with how some of the photos turned out! While I know the cosplay is not 110% accurate and it was made up with things I had already laying around the house, I’m still proud of myself for bringing a character I love to life after my long hiatus from cosplaying all together. I’m glad my brains creativity can physically be shown. PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS! My heart can’t tolerate unnecessary hate..

(Side note I honestly hate how this dress was made so I am honestly just going to make another one for this cosplay so it won’t look so cheap and fit loosely, and I’m going to modify the Cape)

ok so in regards to this post i made yesterday i thought i would just like add to it.

going to once again state i literally have no clue what i'm talking about everything i talk about i say with like 99.999% uncertainty and i'm always open to being wrong and having conversations about characters and stuff like that's my JAM.

anyways, i have only two real possible like things to back me up on this:

the fact that it looks like a dear skull. in the comics we learn that theo loved to hunt and he would often bring home venison for lenore and it ends up being her deathwish meal. i also looked up a deer skull for this and guys as somebody who hates bones i did this for you all

i want to say the picture below looks like it's horse hair that's overgrown, or i want to say it's like bits of bark from a tree. either support my idea.

see the way that looks makes me immediately think of the way he died. since we all know he died by basically having a tree fall on him in a storm.

my only question is how did he get out here? because, being honest and this will not be poetic in the slightest, bro looks a bit deranged. and we know that theo, when he was at nevermore, was the top student.

which then just makes me wonder if he went rogue/he did something that fucked up his place in the spotlight and he was booted out and look he's here. i suggest all of these things not out of thinking i'm correct but because i literally have no clue.

with episode 100 coming out literally tomorrow, this could be the dumbest thing i've ever posted because i could have my theory shot down immediately. and if it is, i'm going to laugh. and if it isn't– i might just like, i dunno, crawl into the fetal position and wonder how i was correct.

i never get things like this right.

You can never go wrong by taking it slowly with a sewing machine...but it's also fun to floor it on the foot pedal. Live dangerously.

That cloak is taking me so long to complete. It's so heavy...but it's so snuggly.

Upcoming Halloween

All right, we're in spooky season now, so I can talk about this.

Here is my costume prep/advice to beginners/I'm figuring it out as I go/whatever you want to call this.

(Pre-made costumes are lovely and wonderful, but I love the creation process that comes with making your own.)

Patterns: There are patterns you can purchase online for Lenore's dress and cloak if you look on sites like Etsy, but I like starting completely from scratch, even if that means cobbling together and customizing existing patterns. I feel like you get a little more creative freedom picking and choosing the elements you want.

Advice to beginners No. 1: Never buy patterns full price. Craft stores will often have patterns on sale.

If you're going to make Lenore's cloak out of faux fur to recreate how it appears in the series, there are two things you should know:

Fur fabric is expensive. Good quality stuff can be up to $50 per yard. If you don't want to break the bank but still want the look, I recommend buying from a craft store that specifically specializes in fabric and waiting for a Black Friday sale. Black Friday will have the best deals.

Fur fabric is heavy. Like really heavy. It's a workout cutting it, pinning it, and holding it in place while you sew it. (It tries to escape the machine.)

Current status: Really wishing I could just do this.

Not only do I HATE the wig, but that day was so overwhelming as a whole that I wanted to puke and pass out basically the whole time. The con was held a horrendous location and I seriously consider not attending next autumn. In the spring tho yes, I love the spring location 🥲 hopefully I'll be able to take some decent photos next time

If you've been following me long enough, you might know that in addition to fanfics and fanart, I also sew too, and prepping for Halloween is partly why I've been less active online lately.

Anyway, this man's coat now canonically has a name in my head and it is The Bitch. (She/her pronouns because why tf not?)

I have thus far broken three sewing needles.

I used an entire spool of thread. That has never happened before.

There is glue all over my fingers.

My mother has told me twice, 'good luck on your sewing endeavors,' and I have asked her if that's really the word we want to use here.

I yell at my machine when it misbehaves, but who in the galaxy doesn't?

I despise faux leather with fiery passion.

In all fairness, I think faux fur is probably the most difficult fabric to work with by virtue of barely being able to fit the damn stuff under the presser foot, but at least it was Lenore's cloak last year that was furry and cloaks are, by comparion, easy to make. Her dress was the hard part, but I made it out of cotton.

But I think the end result is gonna look great.
