Bakit? May Iba pa bang deserving?

Leni is Drake is All of Us
Leni Robredo is the new Vice President of the Philippines.
Congratulations to everyone in my favorite country for having the best candidate take the second most powerful post in our land. VEEP yo!
I will not go all political for this post’s purpose, but let it be known that I voted for Leni and I truly believe that she has the best skills and training to be our leader. My hope is that her win will usher in a refreshing breed of government men and women whose hearts and minds are truly in serving the public and not themselves.
This whole blog or whatever you want to call it at this point is all about work and the stories around it and there is no better poster child (or mom in her case) for this at the moment than Leni Robredo.
Let’s take a step back to several months ago. When Leni declared her intention to run, only a handful of people knew her, mostly from the district she represented in congress for the last three years and in the city where her late husband Jesse Robredo was short of a legend for being an outstanding mayor. Outside of that, most people knew her as Jesse’s widow.
I remember reading a tweet back then that casual Filipinos have no idea who she is and if you even prompt them by saying she’s Jesse’s wife they would all still stare at you blankly not knowing who he was.
When the first elections survey came out only 1% of the results indicated they would vote for her. Let that sink in, ONE PERCENT. Facing a long fixture in the government and someone whose family name every Filipino is familiar with, Leni was literally a wild card.
Her rise to eventual winner would be the envy of all marketing professionals and would be a great case study. Her brand health performance is a dream. From awareness to the ultimate goal of conversion and loyalty, she hit all the marks.
She and her team did key things very well.
1. Leni was launched properly clearly communicating who she is - In the first leg of her campaigns, her message was loud and clear. Leni is not just a widow. She even barely mentions her husband in her public appearances. Leni has had a long exposure to public service starting as a public attorney and in the recent years serving as Naga’s congresswomen. Coupled with a streamlined branding, Leni’s identity was solidified.
2. She engaged her supporters as part of the campaign - Leni used social media very well, a channel her running partner was not able to maximize. Her team posted images that are easy to understand and share, also providing sources for icons, profile pictures and banners. I believe she is the first one to populate the social media with all of these materials way before President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s team did. Most importantly, Leni’s use of Twitter and Facebook was always timely, with a clear message and reaction on any key issue, real time.
3. She avoided negative associations - One major difference with Leni and Mar Roxas is she never fully adopted the ‘Daang Matuwid’ campaign and this is probably her best decision. Ever. Full disclosure, I am a believer of the ‘Daang Matuwid’. For all the criticisms against it, I truly believe that it has helped our nation in the last 6 years. Yes, it can be improved to ensure inclusive growth across the nation’s population but it also has its merits. However, a lot of people find this promise, which worked very well in 2010 elections, unappealing anymore. They’re tired of promises of a straight path when everyday they see something wrong happening in the country. To most of Filipinos, 'Daang Matuwid’ is nothing but a passé slogan. What worked in 2010 is a negative baggage now for the admin’s bets. And Leni recognized this. She found her own message that struck the perfect balance of not being too far from 'Daang Matuwid’ but still differentiated, focusing on the poor and the neglected with a leadership that is good, honest and inclusive.
4. She had a single-minded message - She started her campaign with a promise to uplift the poverty-stricken as this has always been where she has worked best, and she stuck with it. With any issues being thrown at her, she always goes back to her campaign’s core. She even created the now buzzword 'laylayan’, a word that I probably have not heard not used until the last few months.
5. She transformed in front of all of us - If you watch Leni’s introduction as the LP’s admin VP bet, you would see the difference with the way she speaks during the time compared to her lasti two debates. Leni at that time looked forced into running and I cannot blame her. She looked tentative and unsure. During the course of the campaign, I even asked a friend 'Do you think she really wants to win? Because what if I vote for her and turns out, she does not even want it?’. But all my and probably the other voters’ doubts disappeared when she gave a rousing mic-drop worth ending to her debates, stating how ready she is to win this thing because 'The Last Man Standing is Woman’ and that the 'Best Woman will Win’. Creating again socisl media status and posts-worthy messages. This showed that Leni is confident and is sure of what she is getting into.
6. She worked and she works - Leni Robredo won because she and her team worked tirelessly to create awareness that pushed the voters to select her as their VP. From crazy campaign sorties to TV commercials to grassroots campaigns in social media, her team did it all and did it very well. In the end, Leni Robredo is a product and brand that works. In her inteview with Winnie Monsod back in March, Leni’s schedule was shown and she started her day at 7 am and ended it close to midnight, showing her dedication and work ethics. Her positions in the country’s key issues and her future programs are all definite and stripped away of the traditional political tones. Those alone, minus all the PR and marketing, should be reasons enough to vote for her.
It’s an inspiring journey above anything else because the odds were truly against her, having faced a tough competition and starting from the bottom. I’m sure everyone can relate to this situation because we’ve all been in the exact same position in different aspects of our lives. Career, love, fitness or even in our daily struggles in our lives. As Drake said in undoubtedly one of our favorite songs to quote when we finally succeed amidst all the adversities thrown our way, 'started from the bottom now we’re here’.
Vice President Leni Robredo and her whole team is definitely here.

Gaya-gaya. 😂 Pero para lang din malinaw na galing sa tao ang boto. Hindi po yan PCOS machine, kamay po yan ng mga taong bumoto kay Leni Robredo. And, just FYI, those hands voted for different presidents. Hahahhaaha but those hands all dug in the same ice cream tub because ang init na nga ng panahon, ang init pa ng eleksyon. #LabanLeni #LeniismyVP #PiliPinas2016 #VotePH2016

Dahil binoto ko si Miriam:
Ang aking personal na sagot dito.
1. Hindi lahat ng nag-LeniisMyVP ayaw kay Marcos.
2. In fact, I considered him as my second option.
3. Hindi po ba pwedeng Leni won our vote because of her humility and honesty.
4. Leni is just a candidate of LP. She may have the same visions with the party. Pero hindi siya responsible sa allegations with SAF44 and Kidapawan.
Just saying.

SI MADAM LENI ROBREDO 'YUNG EX GIRL FRIEND MONG HINDI MO BINIGYAN NG PAGKAKATAON PARA IPROVE 'YUNG WORTH NYA DAHIL MAS NANIWALA KA PA SA SABI-SABI!
Almost half of my FB friends are bashing Madam Leni Robredo for leading the VP race. Change isn't coming. Ngayon pa nga lang di na kayo marunong rumespeto. When Bongbong Marcos was leading last night, tahimik lang ang Robredo supporters. Ngayong sya na ang leading, dinaya daw. Can we just learn how to accept facts rather than continiously embrace and spread fictions?
