Big Hero 6 - On The Flip Side

“Go Go!”

Her fist stopped an inch away from the unknown person's face.  She looked up at her roommate, now free from her restraints.

“...She said she knows you.”

Go Go's eyes went back down to the hood.  In one swift motion, she grabbed the edge of the hood and pulled it up.

And an audible gasp came out of her mouth.

It was like looking in a mirror.  The same brown eyes.  The same black hair.  The same small nose.

The same look of astonishment on her face.

Go Go's shaking hand came down over her eye, pushing up the bangs on her face.  Right over the intruder's left eyebrow was a scar, almost perfectly cutting it in half.

The product of a bet that Go Go had made...

To her best friend.

Their eyes met again.  There was no doubt about it now.

It was her.

“...Nico.”

The whisper carried throughout the entire apartment, cutting through the shocked silence.  The lookalike blinked once and then gave her captive a half-smirk.

“Leiko.” ~~~~~

Don’t mind me.  I’ll just be making more headcanons in my head instead of the ones that I’m suppose to be working on right now. This will be explored and mentioned in future stories, but the long and short of it is that Go Go and Nico basically grew up together all the way through part of high school, where plot happens.  Go Go comes back to the apartment to see someone attacking Honey Lemon with magic, she tackles the mysterious person, and...well, this happens.

This is actually the first art I’ve done without any sort of tracing whatsoever.  Yeah, I know it’s rough around the edges, but I really like how it came out.  Nico has been on the run for a while, so she’s not as kempt as Go Go is.

I might do a full body Nico at some point, but I cobbled this together in about an hour, so you’ll have to forgive me if my meat fingers stick to typing and not drawing for a while.

Their names are never told, AFAIK, in any of the Disney!BH6 media.  The joke goes far enough to where Honey Lemon even has her nickname on her school ID (something that would never fly in an actual institute, but I digress.)

The only real hint that anyone ever gave was when Jamie Chung (the voice actor for Go Go) jokingly said that Go Go’s first name is probably something embarrassing like “Ethel” and people ran with that.

Their comic names are Aiko Miyazaki (Honey Lemon was a codename), Leiko Tanaka (Go Go Tomago was the name of her exosuit), and Wasabi No Ginger (actual real name unknown).  I know most people at least give Go Go the Leiko name even though it’s Japanese and not Korean, but since both HL and Wasabi had their races changed, people just give them whatever names they want.

Does anyone know what Gogo, Honey Lemon and Wasabi's real names are? In the movie Hiro is surprised by their names and Tadashi says that Fred is the one who thinks of the nicknames, so then, what are their actual names?

Tiny doodle of Gogo Tomago in Leiko Tanaka’s battle suit from the Marvel Big Hero 6 comic book series. Leiko’s alias in the book was “Gogo Tomago”.

Would have been an great easter egg as a prototype suit for Gogo and a nod to the original comic book series.

Not only is the quote relevant and important...this also shows up how much taller Honey Lemon is to Go Go.

HL kind of reminds me of her look back in the old school comics:

Except she’s somehow wearing less clothing back in the comics. All HL is missing is the lemon tattoo... And Go Go looks likes she’s trapped in the curtain that is HL’s dress forever. (I don’t know who the artist is, for the record.  Reverse image search did nothing.  If someone finds it, I’ll give them credit.)

Leiko Tanaka

Powers: No Powers. Battlesuit is voice-activated, absorbing and amplifying kinetic energy.

Go-Go is a member of the Japanese super-team, Big Hero Six. She is young and highly aggressive, with little patience for others, but a very strong will, someone who does not give up easily. She is also known as the hothead of the team as she tends to act on her aggressive tendencies without considering the results. GoGo was apparently drafted into Big Hero 6 rather than facing jail time. The nature of her criminal convictions is unknown. 

After the superhuman Civil War, instead of forcing heroes to join the Japan Defence Agency, the Japanese government preferred to establish a voluntary public partnership: the Big Hero Six. Go-Go joined this new team and when superheroes of the world were rallied by Spider-Man they stopped the construction of one of Doctor Octopus’s satellites guarded by Everwraith.

No story update this week.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that I will not be posting this week.  Still have a few things to figure out in terms of the direction I want to take with "Highway to Hell", and I want to make sure I put the best quality story out (which it's not at this point).  Robbie deserves as much attention as the other characters I've introduced, and I want to do him justice. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, "Highway to Hell" will be starting next week.  For all the Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider fans out there, I hope you'll stop by to read it.  Have a good Leap Year weekend, everyone!
