"From the perspective of others its actions usually seem to have no meaning in the present – it only later becomes apparent that they have retroactively caused events in the past, or set in motion a butterfly effect causing events in the future." --(Legoinnaire, p 61)

Legionnaire by Katherine Stark is a Lancer third party supplement that contains a deep dive into the lore behind NHPs, the setting's equivalent of AI, extensive GM tools, and player options for use in campaigns.

The army during the Roman Empire's Principate-era was a well-trained, well-organized, and flexible fighting force that was unmatched by its enemies. Composed of fearsome legions, they were able to defeat its enemies, both outside and from within the Empire's borders.

Just saw your post re:Legionnaire, and I've been sitting on the fence a minute debating on picking it up.
Based on the artwork you made, I guess it's a glowing recommendation?
I'd personally recommend it, yeah! Obviously it's third party so it's technically not canon, but Kathrine Stark thoroughly and respectfully did her research (the material regularly cites all official first-party writing) and the vast majority of the new stuff introduced integrates pretty seamlessly into existing canon imo.
If you're interested specifically in a deep-dive and close examination into NHPs as people -- with their own quirks, needs, jobs, and culture -- as well as the uncomfortable ethical quandaries of how humans engage with them -- then it's definitely the book for you. It's traditional sci-fi at its finest in as much as it explores topics that have no easy or comfortable answers, but there's also a lot there that just stokes the imagination in general and helps really flesh out existing canon. There's also some fun stuff like plausible rules for playing an NHP pilot and the like (no Rodeo for Deimosians :P).
Like official Lancer, it retains its hope that things can and will get better, so it's hardly all doom and gloom. That's why I sketched my pilot with her Didymos -- Legionnaire made me think more about their relationship and what both of their long-term goals might be, which actually helped me solve an important plot hole for them!
Everyone's mileage will vary, obviously, but if you're an NHP-enjoyer in any form then I'd say it's probably a must-have.
