Turns out, according to writer Paul Kaye, his great-grandfather Billy was a bit of a character, with fingers in many pies, rather than Lancashire hotpots!

Born 16 January, 1882, Cook was a bowler turned Burnley footballer in the Victorian / Second World War era. This book is a detailed story of his struggles and successes, which included being a catalyst for change from a working class background.

Descriptions of his cricketing prowess appear contradictory, from being "well respected" to "old type professional. He sweat (sic) profusely and swore regularly" - for example.
