Fated Meetings
Eris Vanserra x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 6.5k
Warnings: none.
Summary: Since the babysitter Y/N usually hires had to cancel last minute, Y/N is forced to take her four year old daughter to a ball in the Autumn Court. While Y/N gathers drinks for her and her daughter, she finds her missing and in the arms of a certain High Lord.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Masterlist
•••
Y/N held onto her daughter, Sapphira’s hand tightly as she and the rest of the Inner Circle entered the ballroom. It was not ideal to bring Sapphira along to such a high profile event and it was not a good idea to expose her to such powerful fae at only the young age of five. But Y/N had no choice. The usual babysitter was away in another court and with no one she could leave Sapphira with at the last minute, Y/N was forced to bring her along.
Of course, Sapphira hadn’t minded in the slightest. When she was born Rhys had spoiled her with glittering gowns fit for a princess. No matter how hard Y/N insisted he did not need to give her small little family anything, Rhys insisted. With nowhere to wear her elaborate gowns, Sapphira only wore them around her own bedroom and whenever Y/N read her a princess story. The young girl always pictured herself within the story, dancing with a handsome prince. Once Y/N told her she could wear one of her gowns to an event, Y/N was sure she had never seen her daughter so excited.
Y/N glanced down at Sapphire and smiled at her daughter. The young girl’s gaze constantly bounced between everything that moved and glittered. But Y/N couldn’t blame her, she was doing the exact same thing. It was her first time in the Autumn Court and it was nothing if not beautiful. Even more beautiful than Velaris, Y/N thought.
As the Inner Circle branched off around the ballroom, Y/N looked to her daughter. “Do you want a drink?”
“I want to dance!” Sapphira exclaimed.
Y/N looked to the dancefloor and found it vacant, with the exception of a singular elderly couple. Y/N did not want to risk Sapphira being so exposed like that.
“What about later?” Y/N suggested. “They might play that music you love later.”
Sapphira thought about it for a second, her brain ticking. Y/N would have loved to know her thought process.
“Okay, mummy,” Sapphira said.
Y/N smiled at her daughter and squeezed her hand lightly. “Let’s get you a drink.”
Y/N led Sapphira to the drinks table and reached for two cups of water. If Y/N did not have Sapphira with her, she would have indulged in the champagne that was being offered. But tonight Y/N wanted to be on high alert in case anything happened to Sapphira.
Y/N pulled Sapphira to the side of the room and leaned against the wall while she sat down on the floor. People around her glanced back at the two, some with disgust and Y/N glared at them.
“Y/N?” A voice startled Y/N as she lightly jumped back.
Y/N turned to the source of the voice and she smiled. “Lucien!”
Y/N wrapped her arms around the youngest Vanserra and greeted him warmly. She had always liked talking to Lucien and she always enjoyed how he was around Sapphira. Y/N knew of the hard time he had settling into the Night Court so she always made sure to make him feel welcome.
“I have not seen you in forever!” Y/N exclaimed, stepping back from Lucien. “Is the Day Court treating you well?”
Lucien smiled. “As well as ever. I’m currently bouncing between there and here. Ever since Eris became High Lord, he made one of his priorities to repair our relationship.”
“And how is that working out?” Y/N questioned.
Lucien sighed, though it was content. “Surprisingly well, considering everything.”
“It’s good he is working on fixing everything between you,” Y/N said.
“After he explained everything, I feel as if I understood him better,” Lucien said. “I could see hints of the brother who used to play with me to distract me from Beron when I was a child.”
Y/N smiled. “I think you would have been a difficult child.”
Lucien gasped. “I was not. I believe I was quite delightful, perhaps even more delightful than your own child.”
“You could never be more delightful than Sapphira,” Y/N said, smiling. “She is the sweetest child in the whole world.”
“I cannot argue with that,” Lucien said, a glint in his eye. “How is she? I haven’t seen her in a while.”
Y/N frowned. “What do you mean? She’s right here–”
The space where Sapphira was sitting on the floor was now vacant. All that was left was the cup of water that was still full. Y/N’s heart began to beat faster as panic rose within her.
“Sapphira!” Y/N exclaimed, scanning the room for any sign of her daughter.
“I can go and see if she has left the ballroom,” Lucien said, suddenly serious. “Do you want me to inform Azriel? He could probably find her quickly.”
“No, do not inform anyone from the Inner Circle. If they find out she is missing, it will turn into a bloodbath here and I don’t want Sapphira seeing that,” Y/N said.
Lucien nodded before taking off. Y/N did the same and began the search for her daughter.
***
It had been roughly five minutes or Y/N thought before a young maid tapped her on the shoulder.
“Yes,” Y/N said, quite sharply.
The maid flinched slightly but did not back away. “I believe I have just passed your daughter in the gardens, just through those doors there. She looked an awful lot like you.”
Y/N looked at the large glass doors leading to the beautiful gardens outside. Of course her daughter would sneak away to one of the most beautiful places in the court. Y/N said a quick thank you to the maid before she quickly left in the direction of the doors.
As she slipped out, the sound of the ballroom faded away and was replaced by the slight breeze and distant chatter. One of the voices extremely familiar. Y/N frowned and hurried in the direction of the noise. As soon as Sapphira was safely back in her arms, she was leaving the court immediately.
“See those hills over there?” The unfamiliar voice asked softly.
“Yes,” Sapphira answered.
“Those hills are special because they are home to the rarest flowers in the whole of Prythian,” the voice said. A masculine voice.
Y/N only walked faster.
“See at a certain time every night, they glow, not for long but long enough to light up the entire hill.”
Sapphira gasped. “I want to go there!”
Y/N closed in on the pair. The figure was holding her daughter in his arms and Y/N wanted nothing more than to put an arrow through his head. She was not very good at wielding weapons, preferring to do the healing of a wound rather than inflict it, but if he did not put her daughter down, she would suddenly become the best archer in the whole of Prythian.
The man chuckled. “You will need to ask your mother. Speaking of which, you should go back inside–”
“That is right, Sapphira. Get away from him,” Y/N spoke up.
As soon as Y/N spoke, the man turned around and Y/N gasped. The man holding her daughter was none other than the High Lord himself. Eris Vanserra.
“High Lord,” Y/N said, dipping her head. “I didn’t know–”
“Y/N, please, there is no need for formalities,” Eris said and set Sapphira down on the floor.
“How do you know my name?” Y/N questioned.
Eris smiled softly and Y/N swore it was the most beautiful smile she had ever seen. “Well my little brother speaks of you a lot and this one,” Eris nodded his head to Sapphira who was brushing down her gown, “speaks a lot about you.”
“Mummy, can I stay outside with Eris, please? He is really nice!” Sapphira said, running up to Y/N and tugged on the bottom of her dress.
“I don’t know,” Y/N said, briefly glancing at Eris. “I’m sure he is busy.”
“In fact I am quite free,” Eris said. “I dread to go back indoors.”
Y/N stepped closer to Eris. She had never spoken to him before. Though the Inner Circle have spoken about him a lot, none of the comments were too positive. Though the demeanour of the male standing before her contrasted the image she had conjured up in her head.
“Isn’t this whole ordeal for you?” Y/N questioned. “Isn’t that the whole reason me and my daughter were dragged here?”
“Dragged?” Eris questioned. “I believe your daughter was more than ecstatic to come tonight.”
Y/N looked down at her daughter. “How much did you tell him? You have only been gone ten minutes.”
“She did not stop talking,” Eris said. “Barely let me get a word in.”
“She is normally shy around new people,” Y/N said as her daughter stepped around her legs and closer to Eris.
“I’m the eldest of seven children,” Eris said, “I’m good with kids.”
“Please can we stay out here a little longer, mummy? I like it here!” Sapphira said, pulling Y/N closer to Eris.
Despite the darkness, Y/N couldn’t help but admire Eris’s beauty as she inched closer to him. His copper hair was immaculately styled on the top of his head, a single strand falling in his eyes that she itched to push back.
“I suppose we can stay here a little longer,” Y/N muttered.
Sapphira expressed her delight while Eris only smirked. “Perfect. I can show the two of you around the gardens.”
“In the dark?” Y/N challenged.
“You seemed to admire something else in the darkness,” Eris said, his voice loud enough for only Y/N to hear. “Though I can’t guarantee that the gardens are as beautiful as your view currently.”
Y/N flushed and stepped away from Eris. “Well, show the way, High Lord.”
Eris smiled and held out his arm for Y/N to take. “It would be impolite of me to not offer you my arm.”
Y/N glared at him before wrapping her arm around his. Sapphira walked just ahead of them, eager to see the rest of the gardens.
***
Y/N watched Sapphira run around between all of the hedges fondly, she had never seen her daughter look so happy. Currently, her and Eris were situated on a bench, he lounged upon in, completely relaxed. His jacket was unbuttoned and the crown that was situated on the top of his head was in Sapphira’s hands.
“We should get back inside soon,” Y/N said, turning to face Eris.
“You said that ten minutes ago,” Eris teased, crossing one of his legs over the other.
Y/N flushed once more and turned to face her daughter, who stopped to admire a large rose bush. “I know, but she is so happy out here. She has always been a happy child, but out here…it's different. Our small apartment doesn’t have a garden so Sapphira doesn’t really have anywhere to play.”
Eris studied her for a moment. “What do you do for a living, Y/N? I don’t believe Lucien has ever brought it up.”
“I’m a healer,” Y/N replied. “I help out the Inner Circle quite a lot.”
“You speak about it like you are not part of it,” Eris remarked.
“I’m not,” Y/N replied. “I just attend any matters in other courts in case a healer is needed urgently. I’m not particularly close with anyone except Azriel, he is the one who introduced me to Rhys and Feyre.”
Eris let his gaze fall to Sapphira. “And Sapphira? I assume she is not a healer.”
Y/N laughed. “No, and she would make an awful healer when she grows up, and she has never taken an interest in it. I didn’t have a choice but to bring her tonight, my usual babysitter is in the Winter Court visiting family.”
Eris smiled and Y/N was sure that the image of it would be burned into her memory. “I assume her father is busy.”
The smile from Y/N’s face faltered. “I wouldn’t know. I haven’t seen him since the moment I knew I was pregnant with Sapphira.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Eris apologised. “I didn’t know.”
Y/N gave him a tight lipped smile. “Not many people do. We were together for three years and when he noticed my shift in scent, he was gone before I even realised what was happening. Only Azriel knows the real truth, and now you do too.”
“Well I say that he missed out,” Eris said, leaning closer to Y/N, “on an amazing daughter and her gorgeous mother.”
Y/N didn’t look away from him, in fact her gaze fell to his lips. But just as she caught herself she looked back to his eyes, only to find a hint of amusement in them. “Well, if he stuck around then I wouldn’t be talking to a rather handsome High Lord, would I?”
This time, Y/N was the one to surprise Eris. He cleared his throat and looked away. “We should go back inside.”
“Look who’s eager to get away now?” Y/N teased.
Eris tilted his head as he leaned closer. “Sweetheart, I would need to be dragged kicking and screaming to be pulled away from you. But this whole event is still about me and there are most likely many guests wondering where I have been.”
“I–”
“Mummy!” Sapphira exclaimed. “Can we go and dance now? You said I could dance later.”
Sapphira ran to where Y/N and Eris were sitting, still clutching Eris’s crown. Y/N stood from the bench, her arm brushing Eris as she did so, she hadn’t realised how close the two had gotten during their conversation.
“Of course, sweetie,” Y/N said and held out her hand.
“Is Eris coming?” Sapphira asked, looking up at Eris with wide eyes.
Eris smiled and stood to his feet. “Of course.”
Sapphira smiled wide and gripped onto Y/N's hand and then Eris’s and began to drag them with all of her strength back to the ballroom.
Y/N leaned closer to Eris. “You don’t need to come with us, if you prefer to be out here, you can say no to her.”
“Like I said, there are most likely plenty of people who are wondering where I went,” Eris replied. “And wherever you are going, I will follow.”
Y/N looked away from Eris just as Sapphira dragged them through the doors to the ballroom. There were still plenty of people inside and there were plenty of people on the dance floor.
“This is where I must leave you both,” Eris said. “It seems that my brother is trying to get my attention.”
Sapphira looked up at Eris. “Please stay.”
“Sapphira, Eris is busy and needs to get back to his duties,” Y/N said.
Eris looked at the young girl and bent down to meet her height. “How about this? Once I finish my duties for the evening, I will come and dance with you and your mother?”
“Eris you really don’t–”
“Yes please!” Sapphira exclaimed.
Eris smiled and Y/N swore that she would melt. “Perfect.”
Sapphira held out Eris’s crown to him. “This is yours.”
Eris gently took the crown from her hands. “This crown always looked silly on me.” He placed the crown on top of Sapphira’s head. It was too big for her but her hairstyle kept it in place. “Why don’t you hold onto it for me? Remember this is a very important job.”
Sapphira’s eyes lit up. “I will protect it!”
Eris smiled before standing up. “I will see you later, Y/N.”
Y/N could feel many eyes on her as Eris spoke to her but she couldn’t find it within herself to care. “I will see you later, Eris.”
After bidding goodbye, Y/N thought Eris would simply leave to attend to his duties. However before he left he gently took Y/N’s hand in his, his skin soft, and brought her hand up to his lips, pressing his lips against her knuckles for a lingering moment. Her daughter giggled happily at the gesture while Y/N only held onto Eris’s hand tighter, something within her wanted him to stay.
When he released her hand, Eris’s gaze lingered upon Y/N for a moment longer before he turned and walked away, creating a path through the many dancers on the ballroom floor. Y/N watched where he left, a lovestruck expression on her face which was only interrupted by Sapphire gripping onto her hand.
“Are you going to marry him?” Sapphira asked.
“What!” Y/N exclaimed, looking down at her daughter. “Of course I’m not.”
Sapphira giggled happily and pulled Y/N’s hand. “I want to dance!”
With one last glance in the direction Eris disappeared, Y/N nodded. “Let’s go then.”
***
“This better be important,” Eris said as he neared closer to Lucien.
“I see you were the one who found Sapphira,” Lucien said. “Y/N was worried sick about her.”
“I was in the gardens,” Eris said. “If anything she found me. Now, what was so important you needed to drag me away from a beautiful woman. Isn’t your mate around here? Shouldn’t you be entertaining her instead of pestering me.”
“Elain couldn’t make it tonight,” Lucien said. “And do my ears deceive me or did you say that Y/N was beautiful?”
“You certainly didn’t mention that in your stories about her,” Eris said. “And nor did you mention that Sapphira’s father isn’t in the picture.”
“Well I have a mate,” Lucien said. “My loyalty resides with Elain, I cannot go around calling other females beautiful now, can I? And you brought up Sapphira’s father to her? I knew you hadn't entertained the company of many females in the past few years, Eris, but who knew you were incapable to woo one without bringing up past failed relationships.”
“Oh, shut it,” Eris sneered at his brother. Lucien only laughed. “Is this the only reason why you called me over here?”
Lucien took a sip of his wine. “Yes. After all, I have been mentioning her quite a lot around you as of late. I thought you might need a push to talk to her and I gave you one when I secretly told Sapphira to go into the gardens earlier to find you.”
Eris glared at his brother. “You sent Sapphira out to me?”
“I did. I saw the look in your eyes the moment Y/N entered the ballroom and how quickly you left,” Lucien said. “That look in your eyes, I know you felt it. That snap.”
Eris sighed. “Can we not talk about this now?”
“We will talk about it now or you will avoid it,” Lucien said. “I knew you would like her but I never thought she was your mate, Eris.”
“Well it clearly hasn’t snapped for her, so please don’t bring it up to her until I am ready to tell her,” Eris pleaded with his younger brother.
“Tell her, Eris,” Lucien said. “I know Y/N and I know that she deserves love, a real home. And I know that you crave the same. Tell her, from what I can see, she likes you too.”
Eris looked out at the ballroom and spotted Y/N and Sapphira instantly. Y/N looked so carefree dancing with Sapphira and Eris could only smile at the sight. That golden thread connecting him to Y/N tugged him toward her. He took the first few steps on his own. Everyone else in the ballroom seemed to disappear as Eris took a few more steps. As he continued to walk towards her, Y/N looked up at him.
Eris felt like his heart stopped beating. The pull toward her became stronger and stronger. She was beautiful. The most beautiful female he had ever seen. The moment he had seen her walk into the ballroom he thought that. And the moment he felt the bond, he was overcome with emotion. He had left the ballroom to the safety of the gardens to process everything. Until a young girl approached him and he instantly knew who the child belonged to, he could see it in her features, she looked exactly like her mother. And she was the one to bring his mate into his life the moment she disappeared from the ballroom.
“Eris?” Y/N’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
He hadn’t noticed but he was now standing back with Y/N and Sapphira.
“Yes?” Eris said.
“Have you finished with your duties for the night?” Y/N asked.
Eris nodded. “I have. Now I am yours.”
Y/N smiled and Eris. “Just for tonight, of course.”
The wide smile on Eris’s face faltered. “Yes, just for tonight.”
“Eris, can you dance with me?” Sapphira asked, gripping onto the edge of Eris’s jacket.
Eris looked at the young girl and his smile returned. She still wore his crown and it now sat crooked on top of her head. “Of course. Will you join us, Y/N?”
Y/N shook her head. “All of this dancing has worn me out. I will get a drink for myself. I trust you to look after her.”
Eris grasped her hand in his. Sparks flew at their connection. “I will join you after we dance.”
Y/N chuckled. “Good luck trying to get her off of the dance floor.”
Eris smiled and brought his other hand up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. He allowed his hand to linger on her cheek, caressing her face gently. “I will try my best to get her back to you in a timely manner.”
Y/N smiled and Eris swore she leaned into his touch. “Again, she will dance until she falls asleep,” Y/N replied.
“Then I’m afraid we will be here all night because I, too, love dancing,” Eris said.
“You will need to show me some of your dance moves sometime,” Y/N said, her hand caressing his wrist.
Eris smirked and leaned forward, his breath brushed her face. “I will happily show you anytime.”
“You better,” Y/N said.
“Eris, can we dance now?” Sapphira asked.
“Of course, give me just a second,” Eris replied. He turned back to Y/N. “I will see you later, Y/N.”
Before she had the chance to respond Eris pressed a kiss to her cheek, close to the corner of her mouth. Y/N didn’t respond as Eris stepped away, sweeping Sapphira in a dance in the centre of the ballroom.
***
Y/N remained still as she watched Eris and Sapphira dance, many moved out of the way to not disturb the High Lord. Though many gave the High Lord questioning looks as he danced with an unfamiliar girl. Y/N’s heart was racing.
“Y/N?” Azriel asked, approaching her. “Are you okay?”
“Eris…” Y/N began, but words failed her.
Azriel’s gaze followed Y/N’s and he went rigid. “Why is he with Sapphira?”
“He–” Y/N cut herself off as she finally tore her gaze away from Eris and Sapphira to look at her friend. “Azriel. Eris is my mate.”
Azriel’s head snapped to Y/N’s. “Your mate? That is not possible.”
“It is,” Y/N said. “I feel it. I feel him.” Y/N placed her hand over her stomach, feeling where the tug was coming from, connecting her to Eris.
“Does he know?” Azriel asked, placing a gentle hand on Y/N’s shoulder.
“I don’t know,” Y/N said. “He hasn’t mentioned it.”
Y/N returned her gaze to Eris and Sapphira and her heart melted at the sight. Sapphira stood on Eris’s feet as he walked her through a dance, a carefree smile on his face. “He is so good with her.”
Though Azriel was still tense, his gaze softened as he looked at the joy on the young girl’s face as she danced with Eris.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Azriel asked once more.
“I think so,” Y/N admitted. “I am just shocked. I never thought I would have a mate.”
“I’m shocked too,” Azriel muttered. “Considering it’s Eris of all people.”
Y/N gently hit his shoulder. “He is a good male.”
“And you have figured that out from one conversation?” Azriel questioned.
Y/N shook her head. “I know because of how he treats Sapphira.” Y/N nods her head to the two still dancing, Sapphira with a wide smile on her face. “Be honest and say you have never seen her that comfortable around a stranger before.”
Azriel looks at Sapphira and Eris. “I haven’t.”
Y/N smiles. “And that is how I know that he is a good male. Because my daughter is an excellent judge of character.”
Azriel sighs. “Just be careful.”
“There is nothing to be careful of,” Y/N said. “But to put your mind at ease, I will be careful.”
Before Azriel has the chance to respond, Eris interrupts the conversation, carrying Sapphira in his arms, her eyes slowly closing. “I believe your daughter is ready for bed.”
“I’m not…” Sapphira mutters, as her eyes droop once more, her head resting on Eris’s shoulder.
“I can take her back home,” Azriel offers.
“Or I could have a room set up here?” Eris suggests, looking at Y/N. “It saves you returning home too.”
There is something in Eris’s eye that Y/N could only describe as pleading. He wanted her to stay at the Autumn Court for the night. Y/N couldn’t think of any reason why she wouldn’t want to. “Only if it’s not too much hassle.”
“Of course it isn’t,” Eris answers. “I can take you both to a guest room. The finest I have to offer.”
Y/N smiled. “Honest anything will do, Eris. I’m sure that you have more important guests who will need that room more than us.”
“My two most important guests are right here,” Eris said. “Now, shall we get going?”
Y/N looked at Azriel, who she had only just realised was still standing there. “Tell Rhys where I am?”
Azriel looked at Eris, his gaze hard. Eris only stared back at the shadowsinger, nothing in his eyes to suggest any ill intent. Azriel relaxed. “I will see you when you return, Y/N.”
The shadowsinger left, not before giving a warning look to Eris. The High Lord cleared his throat. “Well, shall we get going now?”
Y/N nodded. “Lead the way.”
As Eris tried to hand Sapphira over to Y/N, the young girl clung to his jacket, seemingly not wanting to leave Eris. Eris sent Y/N a panicked look. Y/N smiled at him. “It’s okay. When she is sleepy she always clings onto people she trusts.”
The touched expression on Eris’s face was enough for Y/N to feel a pull on the bond between them. The quicker she had Sapphira asleep in a bed, the quicker she could tell Eris about the bond.
Eris led her down a variety of hallways and Y/N couldn’t tear her eyes away from the beauty of it all. “If Sapphira were awake she wouldn’t want to ever leave.”
The smile on Eris’s face was small but Y/N didn’t miss it. “You are free to visit anytime.”
Finally the two stopped outside of two large doors, Eris pushed open the door with one arm and gestured for Y/N to enter. The room was large with a king size bed in the centre, draped by a crimson canopy. Solid gold was shaped into patterns on the bed frame. Y/N was sure that it cost more than she made in a year. There was a seating area beside a fireplace, pillows and blankets rested upon the sofa and made Y/N want to snuggle up there with a good book in her hands.
But the most stunning feature of the whole room was the windows. They were floor to ceiling leading out onto a secluded balcony allowing for a view of the Autumn Court. Y/N couldn’t help herself but gasp.
“You cannot seriously be allowing me to stay here?” Y/N asked.
“I am,” Eris said, walking over to the bed. “Only the finest room for my most important guests. I have some spare clothing for Sapphira if you wish to change her. I am sure my mother kept clothing from when myself and my brothers were children.”
“No, it’s okay,” Y/N answered. “If you wake her now, I will never get her back to sleep.”
Y/N joined Eris at the bed and watched as he placed her gently down upon the soft covers. The care in his movements was unlike anything Y/N had seen before. No one except for her had held her daughter with such care before. Eris gently tucked her under the covers and pulled the blankets up as she snuggled into them. Y/N leant against the bedpost.
“What?” Eris asked as he noticed her staring. “Like I said, I’m good with children.”
Y/N shook her head. “It’s not that.”
Eris smiled and approached her. “What is it then?”
“It’s just…I have never seen someone care so much for her before. I know the Inner Circle loves her but they have never held her or gone so much out of their way to make her smile like you have tonight,” Y/N said. “Thank you, Eris.”
“You don’t need to thank me,” Eris said. “Don’t ever thank me for something as simple as making your daughter smile.”
“She just never warms up to new people as quickly as she did to you,” Y/N said. “She really likes you, Eris.”
Eris looked at his feet for a brief moment before gesturing to the sofa by the fireplace. “Shall we sit?”
“Don’t you need to return to the ballroom?” Y/N questions.
“I have disappeared from these events before,” Eris explains. “No one will miss me. If they do, Lucien will deal with them.”
Y/N took a seat on the sofa and Eris sat next to her, his thigh brushing against hers. The pull within Y/N made her shuffle closer, seeking as much contact as possible. She craved it.
“Eris, there is something I need to tell you,” Y/N said, suddenly serious. “It might be a lot to take in and I really don’t want you to run from the room screaming in fear.”
Eris chuckled. “Whatever you are about to tell me probably is not going to match the news I need to tell you.”
Y/N let out a breathy laugh. “Earlier, when you kissed my cheek, something snapped into place. A mating bond. You are my mate, Eris.”
For a brief moment, Eris stilled and Y/N was afraid that he would end up running from the room. But her fears were not brought to life as Eris began to laugh quietly. Y/N frowned. “What is so funny?”
A warmth enveloped Y/N’s hand. She didn’t need to look down to know that it was Eris’s own hands.
“The news I wished to share with you is the same as yours,” Eris said with a smile. “I felt it too. The moment you walked into that ballroom. That snap I never thought I would feel.”
“And are you…happy about it?” Y/N asked, holding her breath.
Eris frowned. “Why wouldn’t I be happy? Y/N, I never thought I would be blessed with a mate, let alone someone as beautiful and incredible as you. I never thought I deserved it.” Eris caressed her cheek as he leaned closer to Y/N. “But now that I see you Y/N, you are everything I have ever wanted. Deep down I always craved a mate, I always craved to be loved by someone unconditionally and the mother has blessed me with you. I must be the luckiest male in the entire world.”
Y/N’s eyes watered. “Oh, Eris. You really mean all of those things?”
“Of course I do,” Eris said. “I have only known you a short time, Y/N. But everything about you I admire. And you are someone I could easily fall in love with.”
Y/N placed her hands on Eris’s chest, her fingers gripping onto the lapels of his jacket. “Eris, you must realise that Sapphira will always be part of my life and she is the most important thing to me. You say you want me, but you have to want her too.”
Eris rested his forehead against Y/N’s. “Y/N, I already know. And I already adore Sapphira, she reminds me a lot of Lucien when he was younger, before my father–” Eris cut himself off. “What I am saying is that I have already accepted her. If you choose me too, I will continue to provide for her. Whatever she wishes I will try my damn hardest to make that wish come true.”
Y/N smiled. “Don’t spoil her too much.”
“So do you accept me as your mate?” Eris asked. “Obviously we don’t need to accept the bond until you are ready. Of course not until we tell Sapphira everything, because if she doesn’t accept it then I will gladly step back and–”
“Eris,” Y/N said, cutting him off. “I accept you as my mate. I may have only known you a short time but from how you are with Sapphira tells me all I need to know about you. You are a good male.”
Eris looked into Y/N’s eyes and Y/N already had a new favourite colour. Everything about this felt right to her. It was as if everything around her had fallen into place and this was what she was destined for. A life with Eris, raising her daughter together.
“May I kiss you?” Eris asked, hesitation evident in his voice.
“Yes, you may,” Y/N replied.
Without any hesitation, Eris pressed his lips against Y/N’s and she could feel the bond tighten between them, pulling them into one another. Eris’s arms wrapped around her body as Y/N caressed his face, her hands brushing over his stubble before moving up to tangle in this hair. The kiss was nothing but perfect.
The only thing that interrupted Y/N and Eris was a small mumble from Sapphira. Y/N pulled away and shot to her feet to check on her daughter only to find her still fast asleep, mumbling incoherently. Y/N sighed and sat back down on the sofa, she leaned into Eris.
“Do you think I could borrow some of your clothes?” Y/N asked. “I don’t think this dress will be very comfortable to sleep in.”
Eris’s eyes scanned over her body. “I do have some clothes you can borrow, though it will be unfortunate not to see you in this dress any longer.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and leaned closer to him, her lips brushing over his. “If you play your cards right, I may just wear this dress again. Just for you.”
Eris smirked. “Is that a promise?”
“It will be after you get me some clothes,” Y/N answered.
Eris got to his feet and left the room swiftly and Y/N only giggled lightly at his hasty departure. He was back only moments later with a pile of clothes in his arms.
“You were quick,” Y/N commented, standing to her feet.
“My room is only across the hall,” Eris answered, a faint blush coating his cheeks.
Y/N took the clothes from his arms. “Thank you, Eris.”
Eris nodded and took a step back. “I should get back to the ballroom to tell everyone the event is over.”
“Yes you should,” Y/N said.
“I should be going now,” Eris said, still remaining where he is standing.
Y/N is the first to give in. She dumped the clothes on the chair and pulled Eris into her, planting her lips on his. It was an addicting feeling already. Eris held onto the back of her neck deepening the kiss, bending over Y/N causing her to tilt her head back. If Eris wasn’t holding her up, Y/N was sure she would collapse from the sheer amount of emotions coursing through her veins. Some were her own and some were Eris’s, that golden thread connecting them doing its best to convey what the other thought of one another.
Y/N gripped onto Eris tightly not wanting to ever let go. On one hand she was grateful that Sapphira had been allowed to come along with her, she had not seen her daughter as smiley as she was tonight in a while. But on the other hand Y/N wished that her usual babysitter was available so she could pull Eris down onto the bed and continue what they were doing all night, preferably with no clothes obstructing their bodies.
Y/N was the first to pull away, panting for air. “We should stop. I don’t want to get carried away.”
Eris brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. “Me neither.”
Y/N kissed him again.
However this time the kiss did not last long at all as a quiet young voice cut through the air.
“Are you going to get married?” Sapphira’s voice was like a bucket of ice cold water poured over both Y/N and Eris, causing them to jump apart.
Y/N turned to face her daughter. “No, we aren’t Sapphira. Eris and I…we were just helping each other with our hair.”
Sapphira huffed. “Can you get married? I like Eris.”
Eris looked down at the floor, his face bright red. Y/N chuckled lightly. “Okay, Sapphira, I think you should get back to sleep. It is late and you need to be rested for tomorrow.”
“Will Eris be here tomorrow?” Sapphira asked, pointing at Eris.
Y/N perched on the edge of the bed next to her daughter. “Of course he will.” Y/N turned to face him. “He’s not going anywhere.”
Eris smiled. “I will be here bright and early tomorrow, Sapphira.”
Sapphira smiled sleepily and yawned. Y/N brushed her daughter's hair from her face and watched as she fell back into a peaceful sleep. Once she was asleep, Y/N laughed and approached Eris.
“Well you have Sapphira’s blessing,” Y/N said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Eris pulled her closer by her hips and rested his arms lazily around her. “And I’m glad to have it.”
Y/N hugged Eris. “Goodnight, Eris. I will see you tomorrow.”
Eris hugged her back. “Bright and early.”
Y/N smiled and pecked his lips quickly. “My mate.”
Eris smiled. “My mate.”
Reluctantly she let go of Eris and allowed him to leave the room. Before the door closed he turned around and blew her a kiss. Y/N smiled at the lopsided grin on his face before the door closed completely.
Y/N changed into the clothes Eris had given her. They smelt of him and Y/N wrapped her arms around herself. She climbed into the soft bed next to her daughter and swiftly fell asleep, dreaming about her future life with Sapphira and Eris.

Pulling Strings
Astarion x F! Tav
18+ consensual body control, intimacy aversion/exploration, sub/dom, total control, body caging, restraint, rough sex, p-in-v, vulnerability, crying after sex, aftercare, tenderness
Tav has caught on that her favorite vampire doesn't enjoy touching or being touched by others. But she has a suggestion to possibly help that piques his interest...
Masterlist
-
As Tav talked to the merchant she felt two cold finger taps on her wrist.
She smiled, turning her head to give him a nod, returning to bartering.
The signal that he wanted to initiate their scenario.
After the tiefling party, she had asked if he had actually wanted to bed her. She had her suspicions, and ever forward, had asked plainly.
He tried to dance around an answer, but she knew him too well by then. Eventually relenting, he had said that he had done it out of obligation. Explaining that he needed protection, and bedding her was a fast track to devotion. Or, at least, was supposed to be.
That conversation led into more, delving into his aversion to intimacy and touch itself. Tav was not upset, if anything she wanted to help.
"Well, do you want to be intimate with others?" She offered curiously on one of those late nights they stayed up talking.
"I don't know, maybe?" He scoffed, flicking his hand up in annoyance. "It's something I'm going to have to get over eventually, if I'm ever going to be a functioning member of polite society."
"Not necessarily," Tav mused, taking the wine bottle he offered to her. "There's lots of ways to get around things like that and still be around others."
Her eyes lit up in thought. "You could wear gloves, or even hire an escort to practice with."
He gave her a withering look. "Darling, though I was one in some respects, I'm not going to trust my comfort with a sex worker I don't even know."
He threw his hands up dramatically. "I would much rather have someone like you if there was to be any 'practice' to be had." His pointer and middle fingers curling at the word.
"That's not a bad idea, actually." Tav suggested, tilting her head slightly.
He looked at her, his own head tilting opposite hers. Mouth pursing up to the side in consideration.
"Go on..." He drawled.
"Well, I could be like a puppet. You steer me where you want me and I stay there." She mused, leaning back on her side. "I wouldn't move unless you moved me, something like that."
"Hmm." He lilted. Pausing, seeming about to say something. Then just offered another thoughtful "Hmm..."
"Sleep on it. You don't need to decide now, and I'm fine with whatever you need." Tav shrugged, taking another swig from the bottle.
"If you decide you want to try, just give me a tap." She demonstrated on her wrist, two fingers lightly tapping.
Three nights later, she was at the firepit. Her hands clasped behind her back, leaning over to inspect the soup Gale was excitedly explaining. Two little strikes against the inside of her wrist brought her eyes back up.
She gave him a warm smile and a near imperceptible nod, turning back to Gale to give him her undivided attention about the intricacies of beef broth.
That night, she asked at the entrance of his tent.
"Come in, sweet thing."
"Where do you want me?" She asked, stepping inside. Already leaving her limbs loose and comfortable.
"Here..." He waved his hand at the space next to his bedroll.
She sat down, legs crossed neatly beneath her. Hands resting palm down in her lap. Waiting for his direction.
He hovered across from her at first, uncertain.
"You're in control. I'm your marionette. Move me." She encouraged, turning her wrist face up on her knee. Letting her hand fall open, relaxed.
He looped his fingers around her wrist and lifted experimentally.
True to her word, she kept her arm limp enough for him to puppet. Steering it around in a circle.
This seemed to give him more confidence, pulling her wrist down to the floor of the tent.
She followed, laying her head down. He adjusted her legs into a slight curl on her side. Pulling her arm up into a natural resting position.
He reached behind her and grabbed a small pillow, lifting her head and sliding it beneath.
He came to lay down next to her on his back. A good distance still between them, but not so far as to feel cold.
"Good?" He whispered.
She nodded, settling into the form he had set for her.
He leaned up and blew out the candle.
"Goodnight, darling." He hushed, laying back down in the dark.
That first night, that had been it. Just her laying in the dark next to him. His impressed eyes appraising her the next morning when he found her in the same position he had left her in. Breathing softly in her sleep.
As the nights went on, and as they grew closer outside of this arrangement, he got more curious.
Bringing her closer to him, touching her. Experimenting with angles and positions.
He had explained after that first night that he didn't want her to be entirely still. 'Too much like a corpse...' He had shivered. He still wanted her to interact with him, just in small movements that he could lead.
If he led her hands to his chest, she could circle her fingers softly there. If he led to his ear, she could massage it gently.
And, if at any point he no longer wanted that touch or found it uncomfortable, he would simply lead her hand away.
If he felt he wanted to be done entirely for the night, he would tap her wrist again, and she would get up and go. No questions asked.
Those nights, oddly enough, were the ones she felt closest to him. That he felt safe enough with her to end touch that he had initiated without fear of retaliation.
It was endlessly exciting for her when he found a touch or position that he really enjoyed.
One of his favorites being her chest to his back, leaning into her in a seated position. One of her arms loosely wrapped around his waist, her legs bent at his sides. Her other hand scratching gently along his scalp.
He leaned into her like this, head tilted back, legs nestled between hers. Practically purring as her fingernails traced lines along his scalp.
His hands would rest on her thighs, sometimes still, sometimes trailing back and forth. Her hand around his waist stroking his side softly with her thumb.
He would even fall asleep in this position, head turning into her neck. Occasionally pulling her down to lay with him, but sometimes falling entirely asleep against her chest.
She never moved from anywhere he put her, unless he gave her the signal that he was done for the night.
It even started proving beneficial outside of their little experiment. In battle he would see a blow coming over her shoulder and pull her out of the trajectory. She moved like water with him, they could almost dance through skirmishes together.
Of course, blood drinking came with the territory. He would always ask before he imbibed, and she almost always said yes.
His favored position for that was her sat on his lap, facing him. Legs hooked around his hips, arms draped loosely over his shoulders.
He would slot into that cup, resting the side of his head on her shoulder while he drank. Her hands comfortable on her forearms, her head softly falling against his.
Last night, he had initiated something that had surprised her.
Sitting down across from her in her usual starting position, he had picked up her wrist and led it to his chest. Trailing her fingertips in a dragging motion down the opening of his camp shirt.
Her surprise must have shown on her face as he smiled almost sheepishly at her.
"I'm feeling indulgent tonight." He purred. Lifting her hand to cup his pec gently. "Seems like a good night for exploration."
She smiled, nodding in agreement. Giving his pec one cheeky squeeze.
He continued to lead her hands across his body, pulling her closer to get a better range of movement.
Her puppeted hands sliding up over his hips, across his ribcage, over the curve of his shoulders.
His eyes had grown dark, chest rising and falling a little more strained.
It didn't go beyond that, with him eventually settling her into another favored sleeping position. Her head on his chest, arm draped across his ribcage, one leg curled up on his hip. His hand kneading and circling little figure eights into her thigh.
This was one of her personal favorites. One of the positions where she would often find sleep first. She wondered if he initiated this one so often cause he could tell.
So when night fell, she naturally wondered where tonight would take her.
He had absolutely had one-off tries that he decided didn't work for him, never bringing her back to them again. But his direction of her had been gradually more sensual. Something that made heat settle in her pelvis.
When they settled in for the night, she was surprised when he hadn't started leading her at all. Just running his hands over her body.
This wasn't entirely new, he did have areas of her that he enjoyed touching for tactile reasons. Particularly along her waist, under her ribcage and her upper thighs. He had remarked just how soft her skin was there, and how he was very glad she wasn't ticklish.
But the touch he drug across her now was more insistent. Needful pulls of her hips, her ass. Cupping her breasts.
She didn't move without permission, but her head fell back slightly. Letting out a soft moan.
He pulled up on both of her hands, urging them to his ears. Groaning in the back of his throat when she traced and massaged into them.
His hands pulled her legs open, hooking one up around his hip as he slid forward. Angling in between them, one hand pulling her thigh for leverage as he slowly started to grind into her.
His body pushed her onto her back, fingers digging into her propped thigh. Hand leaving it, his leg sweeping it up and open against him.
He caught her mouth in a kiss, hips fluid against hers. A hardening length pressing down into her.
For the first time, she moved of her own accord. Hand leaving his ear to cup the back of his head.
She realized her transgression and was about to move back, but his hand laced over hers.
"Please," He breathed against her mouth. "Touch me more."
This was the ultimate test, giving her free reign again. Under the suffocating wave of lust, she was determined.
"Are you sure?" She whispered when she could get a breath in.
"Yes, I trust you." He murmured, moving down to her neck.
She used the touches she had learned he enjoyed, fingers trailing along his chest, cupping over the bone of his hip, dipping into the curve of the base of his spine.
He shivered all over when she would stroke these desired places. Eyes fluttering up into his lids.
When her fingers traced the v-line of his hips something snapped in him. Needing control again.
He took hold of her wrists roughly, his legs twisting into hers and encouraging her to flip onto her belly.
She went limp again and followed his unspoken command, chest against the floor of his tent.
Pinning her wrists against her lower back, he hiked her hips up high to meet him with a grunt. In one motion he pulled her dress up over her ass, bunching up at her waist. Pulling her underclothes down roughly to her knees.
She moaned into his pillow, clasping her hands together in unholy prayer.
He unhooked her fingers far enough to slip his own in, curling into her. The rustling of fabric behind her, then the feeling of his cock teasing against her entrance.
There was no more questions, no more clarification. Just his voice low and dangerous behind her.
"You will take me."
She nodded into his pillow, pushing her legs wider for him.
He pushed inside of her without mercy, her cunt stretching deliciously to accommodate him.
She mewled into his pillow, and he fisted her hair into a ponytail. Pulling her head up.
"You will sing for me."
His hips rolled into her in hard thrusts. Rocking her body forward with each strike. It was slow and animalistic. Savoring and vicious.
He pushed her legs back together with his own, her ass seated higher, her cunt tighter around him. He groaned, caging his body over hers, forcing her chest further into the bedroll.
This new angle stroked directly against her g-spot. She moaned out choppy cries with each thrust, pushing her ass up higher into him.
"Is that good, little songbird?" He smiled, biting along her shoulder blades.
"Yes," She shuddered. "Harder, please."
"Fuck," He hissed, losing his composure. Releasing her hand to grip both sides of her hips. Slamming into her ravenously.
Her eyes rolled back into her head, already starting to clench around him. Clasped hands white knuckling.
He could feel she was close, a wide smile crossing his face when he realized she was waiting for his permission.
Teasing her for a little longer, he stayed silent outside of panting with exertion. He wanted to watch her come more undone.
She was writhing in small movements under him, trying to hold back the wave that was cresting. Whimpering in her effort.
Begging was out of the question, this was his call. But she was getting to her breaking point.
As soon as it became unbearable, he spoke.
"Come. Now."
Her whole body shuddered, shoulders arching back into still clasped hands. Release ripping through her from deep in her core, forcing near agonizing pleasure in an arc up from her pelvis. Her voice was entirely out of her control, pleading whines pushing into indignant near shrieks from her throat.
Her cum coated him in a slick veil, pushing out onto his thighs. The sight of it sent him over, the clenching pulls of her cunt further demanding.
He laced his hand back into hers, gripping his fingers into her knuckles. Crying out as his body tremored. His hips sloppy, bracing his other hand on her lower back as he filled her to the brim. Her fingers pulsed reassuringly into his as he fell apart over her. His unrestrained sweet sounds making her heart sing.
He collapsed into her lower back, pushing her clasped hands above him. Pulling them apart to lace into both of his along her sides. Still nestled inside of her. Both of them laying flat on the bedroll now.
He panted hard against her, sending little waves of cool air along her side. He unhooked his fingers high enough to tap twice on her wrist. The signal that he wanted to stop their scenario.
"Do you want me to go?" She hushed, rubbing her thumb inside of his palm.
He shook his head against her lower back, not moving from their joining in the slightest.
She smiled, twisting gently underneath him. Bringing his slack body onto her.
"Come here to me." She purred, bringing his head down to her chest. Running her fingernails in arcs along his scalp, holding him around his waist.
He melted into her, body fully relaxing. Quiet tears falling onto her sternum. His arm holding her side strong against him. His grip almost fearful, as if he was anticipating someone trying to take her from him.
She only hummed softly, a slow tune she had heard in a passing tavern. Fingers leaving her love in lines through his hair.
His breath slowed, eyes fluttering shut, his long lashes tickling her chest. Body warmed and pliant, he fell under her spell. Blessedly asleep.
She smiled, continuing to stroke his curls. She would often stay awake just to hold him like this. It felt sacred, a rite that only she got to partake in. The guardian of his rest.
"Oh, my starlight..." She hushed, kissing the top of his head.
She felt his sleeping smile against her chest. The nightcall of insects her hymn, the high moon her witness. His body her holy duty.
Letting her head turn on his pillow, she allowed herself to fall with him.

Starting a new life took work. Shedding the remnants of the past and putting on cloaks on the future, though uncomfortable, was necessary. It was never easy, but it was necessary.
So, he bought an old pickup, packed his belongings, and drove three hours eastward until he reached Riverside Heights. It was a quaint town with about 10,000 people, but it would do. He was satisfied when his eyes landed on the sign as he drove past the threshold. Welcome to Riverside Heights! Most populous Black town in the East. Whatever internal compass guided him led him to the right place.
The same day, he found an apartment owned by an elderly couple looking for another tenant.
They said it was fully furnished and had rent and utilities much under his budget. He quickly signed the dotted line and gratefully presented money for the deposit.
He spent the evening in his new apartment. Although he didn’t have much, he hoped it would eventually become like home. He basked in the warmth of the quaint bedroom and the shower’s heat against his sore body. For the first time in a long time, he slept like a baby that night, and it was needed for the day he had ahead.
There was a job to obtain, and he wouldn’t stop until he found one.
He woke up early the following day before the sunlight hit the bedroom. He said a quick prayer, made his bed, and dropped to the floor to do a few quick exercises before heading to the shower to begin his hygiene routine.
Afterward, he wore a black polo, dark jeans, and his cleanest boots. He glanced in the mirror momentarily. His eyes, usually full of life, were dull and tired. Sure, the color was light, but the sparkle behind them was long gone. Whatever slither of happiness was left died right alongside Mike in that prison cell where his body collapsed. No matter how hard he tried, happiness seemed out of reach, and it was exhausting to chase after it.
He hadn’t realized he was crying until a tear slid down his cheek. He mumbled lowly, wiped his face roughly, and shuffled out the door quickly.
Riverside Heights was a beautiful town full of vibrancy and life. Everyone seemed genuine and kind. Everywhere he turned, he was met with a warm smile and a kind, “How are you, sir?” This was very different from his previous experiences.
Yet, he still felt like an outsider. He was surrounded by people who looked like him, who most likely knew nothing of his past, and who were so kind, yet he was an outsider in a land that shouldn’t be foreign.
But rather than staying in his head, he smiled back, hoping people wouldn’t see the stiffness of it, and said, “Doing well, thank you for asking. Um, I’m new in town, and I’m looking for a job. Do you have any suggestions on where to look?”
Being the kind woman she was, Ms. Willis walked to a community event with him. “You came just in time. They’re having a job fair at the local community center. There are plenty of folks there looking to hire. I hope you find what you need.”
They walked silently for a while, and he took in the beauty of Riverside Heights. The sun beamed on them, warming his skin. Along the road were hundreds of freshly planted flowers and plants. He always liked plants. They were beautiful to him. The grass was freshly cut and irritated his nose, but he let it go to bask in nature.
His eyes followed the fowls in the air as they chirped and danced freely. How beautiful that must have been. The pace of the town was steady. People ran on the sidewalks, children played in the field with their friends, and newborn babies cried as their parents tried to calm them. They were greeted by a few people, some asking about him and his unfamiliar face and others addressing Ms. Willis. Each interaction was unique and lovely. Everyone was so friendly.
Moments later, Ms. Willis spoke up. Her graying eyes squinted as she looked at the young man who towered over her. “Why Riverside Heights? Most folks that are here were born here. We don’t get folks coming in from the outside too often.”
The question he dreaded had come to haunt him. He sighed and stuffed his hands into his pockets. “It’s a long story,” he gave a rueful chuckle. He tore his eyes away from hers. He
couldn’t look her in the eye. He swallowed the growing lump in his throat and shrugged. “Just needed a new start, away from what I knew before. Was driving for a few hours, saw the sign, and decided to try it.”
Just as his grandmother would do, she crossed her hands over one another and nodded, drawing out a long mhm as she did so. “You’ll have to tell me that story. Maybe over some dinner and a good peach cobbler. I’m sure you don’t have food in that stomach of yours.” She tapped his belly, and he smiled bashfully and rubbed the back of his neck. “And regardless of the reason, my boy, I am glad you’re here.”
“Thank you, Ms. Willis,” he said gratefully, accepting the hand squeeze she gave. They engaged in more small talk before they arrived at the community center. Before he walked in, she grabbed his arm and caressed it lovingly, “You got my number now, so I expect your call cause dinner is at 6. I’ll see you tonight.”
With a soft “Yes, ma’am” and a smile, he retreated and headed toward the community center. People were packed like sardines in the center, looking for jobs. He considered himself one of the lucky ones. There, within thirty minutes, he found a job. It was nothing crazy, but it was stable. It was normal. It was what he needed.
“Construction, aye?” He lifted his eyes from the documents he was given and saw a dark-eyed, dark-haired man, maybe around his age, with his hands in his pocket. “Been needing some more workers out here. I look forward to working with you.”
Naturally, he stuck his hand out, “Terry Richmond. Nice to meet you, man.” The man, Terry learned, was Jackson, the son of Ms. Willis. He worked at the construction company as a project manager and insisted they’d spend a lot of time together.
Terry was hesitant at first, but it was what he needed. Maybe, in due time, he wouldn’t feel like an outsider but rather a member of Riverside Heights.
At least, so he hoped.
-
After dinner at Ms. Willis’, Terry settled into his apartment. He placed the leftovers in the fridge and the groceries he picked up on the way back. It was a weird feeling to move and settle into what would be a new life. There was pressure, a lot of it.
To not screw up, to keep his head down, and stay focused. To ensure that this life would be better than the previous one.
It was what he wanted. It was what he deserved. So, rather than sulking over what was, he tried to focus on the present and do what ordinary people do when they move—eat ice cream and watch trashy movies on television. It wasn’t much, and he didn’t know if it would help, but he was more than willing to try. He had no choice.
-
Two days later, he started work. He was ready to start, dressed in a logoed short-sleeved shirt, thick cargo pants, and work boots.
He did not have a busy workday. Although orientation took all day, he had leftovers from dinner with Ms. Willis to rejuvenate his spirit.
He sat in the corner while eating lunch. Being alone didn’t last long, though. He heard a familiar voice call out his name, “Terry, my man.” He turned to see Jackson, dressed in a blue suit with a hard hat on his head. Terry turned swiftly, nodding as he swallowed the chicken and rice.
“Jackson,” he greeted lowly. “How you doin’?” Jackson replied with an exasperated sigh and peeled the hard hat off his head, revealing his matted curls.
“Man, listen. The new city planner has been behind me regarding these new plans. She ain’t one to be played with.” Terry assumed she was a handful by his tone and shaking his head. He hadn’t known Jackson long, but he was a goofy guy based on his interactions over having dinner three nights at Ms. Willis. So, being bent out of shape over work meant the city planner wasn’t easy to deal with.
“In what way?” Terry asked curiously. This came as a surprise to him. Even though he’d only been in the city for a few days, he couldn’t imagine anyone behind a pain in his behind.
“Is she that bad, or she just won’t let you flirt with her?” Terry’s comment made Jackson cut his eyes. Terry choked on his water as he laughed.
Jackson pulled up a chair and swung it around. “Nah, she’s just…you’ll know when you see her,
man. Had me feeling like I didn’t know how to do my job.” Terry’s eyebrow raised. She sounded condescending, but he was old enough to know not to form opinions based on someone else’s.
Terry closed his Tupperware container and slid it back into the small lunch box he had purchased from the market. “Guess I’ll find out when I meet her.” He stood from his seat and shrugged.
Jackson scoffed. “That’s if you survive her wrath. Just know, I warned you, brother.”
“Warning heard.”
-
“Mr. Richmond, I’m gonna be honest, I’m not sure how capable you are to conduct this projectalongside Mr. Willis.” Jackson was right. She was condescending as hell, and it didn’t sit right with him.
Terry’s light eyes met Jackson’s darker ones; they shared a look. One that said, “I told you so,” and “I see what you mean.” Terry rolled his shoulders back and intertwined his hands.
“And if I may ask, Ms. Taylor. How’d you reach that conclusion?” His facial expressions remained unchanged, though his voice showed slight annoyance with her comment. Ms. Taylor, or Elara Taylor, City Planner of Riverside Heights, mimicked his movement.
She glanced at his resume on her temporary desk.
“You don’t have much construction experience. How do I know you won’t put a faulty pipe in the ground?” Dear God, he thought to himself. He had no clue who this woman was, and she didn’t know him either, yet here she was, making wild accusations with an accusatory tone.
Terry glanced at Jackson swiftly. He had to choose his words wisely for his job and Jackson's position, but she wasn’t getting away with talking to him like an incompetent child.
“Ms. Taylor, common sense is a virtue I possess. I may not be Bob the Builder, but I’m a marine. I’ve worked with things far worse than a pipe, which I’m sure one of the many contractors your office hired would guide me on how to install. I am here for a reason: to do my job. With my two years of prior construction experience.” Terry wasn’t one to get snippy. He usually was cool, calm, and collected, but the last thing he would tolerate was issues with a woman he didn’t know from a can of paint; her title be damned.
Silence fell over the room. Jackson looked between them, sensing the newfound tension between them. He sunk further in his chair.
Elara stared blankly at him. Her dark eyes bore into his light ones. He’d gotten many compliments on his eyes over the years, but hers were just as stunning, if not more. Something about brown eyes made his knees weak, and his loins stirred.
As their staring game intensified, he noted that she was beautiful. Her complexion was rich in hue and relatively smooth, save for the fading acne scars on her cheeks. Her nose and lips
were distinct and whole, like her ancestors. She wore her hair straight, the dark tresses settling at her shoulders, and she wore a two-piece navy blue suit. Elara Taylor was the head woman in charge.
Her eyes softened. She cleared her throat and replied in a softer tone. “So be it. I hope you’re as good as Ms. Willis advocates for you to be. And Jackson, I expect that draft to be on my desk at 9 tomorrow morning. You’re dismissed.” She gave them no opportunity to respond before picking up her pen and scribbling on paper.
Terry chuckled and stood from his seat. His noise caught her attention. She raised an eyebrow.
He raised one back. “You have a great evening, Ms. Taylor.”
She grumbled something under her breath but said nothing further as he left the office, and Jackson shuffled behind him.
Once they were far enough, Jackson said, “Told you she was a lot.”
Terry shrugged and walked toward the meeting room to receive instruction from one of his trainers. “Nothing I can’t handle.”

——————————————————————
Rio Vidal’s career had exploded in the past five years after working towards it her entire life. She was now in her mid thirties and riding the high of being an established phenomenon. She toured too much to hold a consistent relationship, but her tour crew became her people. One such person was a newer roadie named Agatha who had joined on the previous tour.
Rio had found herself noticing the woman more and more. She had something of a flair to her even when just in a band shirt and black jeans with her long hair messily tied up. Though she got along well enough with everyone, her brash attitude and humor caught some of them off guard. It only endeared Rio to her, making her snort-laugh whenever she said anything cutting. The two had become friendly, with the both of them still keeping a bit of distance from one another for reasons they couldn’t quite explain.
When the new tour began, Rio led by asking for Agatha back. Her manager, Jen, seemed surprised at the request.
“Agatha?!” Jen asked, “Like, Agatha, Agatha?”
“I don’t think we know any other Agathas.”
“Sorry, I just- I mean, she can be a little much sometimes. I don’t know if she fits with the rest of the crew…”
“I like her,” Rio said simply, “She’s funny.”
“She threatened to set me on fire with the pyrotechnics.”
“She didn’t go through with it, though.”
“That cannot be where the bar is,” Jen deadpanned.
“Please. I want her on tour with us,” Rio said, reaching over and taking her hand, “I will make sure she doesn’t set you on fire.”
Jen sighed, folding for her employer and close friend.
“Fine. But I’m not sleeping on the same bus as her.”
“Feel free to take the other bus and snuggle up with Alice in the bus’s private bedroom…” Rio said with a smirk.
“Huh… didn’t think about that solution.”
“See? Silver lining.”
The first day of the tour came and Rio treated everyone to a night out on the town to kick everything off. They ended up in a club where they took up a good part of the dance floor. Rio gravitated toward Agatha, the other woman with her hair down for once.
“Hey, what are you drinking?” Rio asked.
“Martini.”
“Dirty?”
“Always.”
“Let me get you another,” Rio said before giving the bartender the order along with a tequila shot for herself.
“Thanks,” Agatha said, taking her drink, “I appreciate you hiring me back. I know I didn’t exactly make the best impression with Jen.”
Rio smiled and made a little wave at the mention of her.
“Don’t worry about Jen. I love her, but she can be a little judgmental with new people.”
“Well, I’ll try to be a little…” Agatha cringed before saying, “Nicer.”
“No you won’t,” Rio said with a fond laugh.
“No, I won’t,” Agatha replied with a smile.
The two drank together for a while before Agatha took her hand, pulling her out to the dance floor as Suavemente played. Rio could barely think with the touch of Agatha’s hand in hers as she danced. She spun Rio and pulled her in, their bodies close. They moved together with Agatha leading. She was impressed at how good Agatha was, handling Rio in a way that left her breathless.
At one point, Agatha and Rio found their eyes locked on the other’s. Both seemed a little terrified at the intensity of the moment. In that instant, both seemed to be realizing the same thing. Rio froze while Agatha’s chest thudded with her heartbeat.
“I should get some sleep,” Agatha blurted out before turning around and abruptly leaving.
Rio almost called for her, almost followed her out, but was stopped when Jen and Alice interrupted.
“What the hell was that?” Jen asked, her head cocked.
“What was what? We were just dancing..”
“That wasn’t ’just’ anything,” Alice said with a smile.
“Don’t encourage this!” Jen said to Alice.
“There’s nothing to encourage!” Rio said with a groan.
“That look you both had says there is,” Alice said.
“Okay, okay, I’m going to bed,” Rio said with a sigh.
“Rio, you don’t have t-“ Jen said, regretting her harshness.
“I’m okay, Jen. I want to be rested for tomorrow. Big day and all that. Make sure everyone’s drinks are paid for and that everyone is on the bus by 2.”
“Alright. Rest up. Drink some water,” Jen said, hugging her.
Rio walked out before Alice said, “I think they’re cute.”
Jen rolled her eyes before pulling Alice to the dance floor.
Agatha had stripped out of her clothing and was left in her sweat shorts and tank top. She finished brushing her teeth when she heard the door close. She looked out and saw Rio come on. Rio took her hair down and walked past. She looked back at Agatha. Agatha tried to avoid her eye, giving Rio the message to leave her alone.
“See you tomorrow. Sleep tight,” she said.
“You too,” Agatha simply said.
Rio walked into her private room in the back and closed the door. Her mind swirled with everything she had been feeling. The look in Agatha’s eyes haunted her as she drifted off to sleep, drawing out emotions she thought she would never feel for someone.
She had never been good at relationships. She was always half in since she felt like she was performing with them the way she did for her fans. With Agatha, it felt different. Something inside of her relaxed when she was around. She groaned just before falling asleep when she realized it.
She was in love with Agatha Harkness.
Fuck.
She had not signed up for love.
Agatha was off the bus by the time Rio woke up. The two stole glances at each other throughout the day, one looking away when the other saw them.
“You didn’t seal the deal last night?” Alice asked Agatha as they carried a speaker to the edge of the stage.
“Seal the what now?” Agatha asked with an arched brow.
“With Rio. Don’t worry, I won’t tell. I mean, Jen and I got together on a tour a few years back. The road just makes people closer.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Agatha said, looking away.
“Okay, then. Don’t make her wait too long. Rio doesn’t show interest often.”
Agatha didn’t need reminders that Rio was notoriously single, never staying with a woman longer than a night. Agatha had also been fiercely independent, having been married years ago before it all fell apart after their fifth anniversary. No, Rio didn’t see her that way.
“What do you mean ‘nothing happened’?!” Jen asked loudly with an indignant tone.
“Keep your voice down- I thought you’d be relieved,” Rio said.
“I mean, yeah, but I’m more confused. Did she shoot you down?”
“No.. I didn’t really… I just went to bed. And told her to sleep tight,” she said, cringing at her own failure.
“Oh no,” Jen said, her eyes widening.
“What?”
“You’ve got it bad bad. She triggered a useless lesbian response.”
“Useless lesbian?”
“Gay panic. You couldn’t make a move because you like her too much. Shit, of course it would be her…” Jen sighed, “Sometimes I hate it when Alice is right.”
“I don’t… I didn’t… I mean… it would be wrong to pursue anything with her, right?”
“You’re worried about a power imbalance with Agatha Harkness? That woman doesn’t let anyone have the upper hand. She’ll be fine.”
“I thought you didn’t like her…”
“I don’t. She’s an asshole. But I also haven’t seen you like this since high school when you dated Carol. It’s been twenty years. If someone is finally making you feel this way again… well, I will unhappily support you.”
Rio laughed softly before saying, “While I appreciate that, I don’t think she wants anything to do with me. She won’t even look at me.”
“She won’t STOP looking at you. She just doesn’t when you aren’t. Just do yourself a favor and shoot your shot. Okay?”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Don’t think too long. The tour doesn’t need this level of yearning,” Jen said before walking off.
The show that night went perfectly. The arena was packed and every number went according to plan. Rio soaked in the adrenaline. Performing was like a drug to her. It fueled her. Coming back after a few months felt like recharging her system.
She thanked the roaring audience wearing a bodysuit that was dripping with diamonds, her hair slicked back. She walked offstage, hugging and thanking her crew as she went to greet fans by the tour bus. After an hour of signing autographs and talking with overexcited teenage girls, she walked to her bus.
She walked to her room, closing the door behind her. She was still smiling, still feeling the high of the show running through her veins. A knock sounded at her door. She opened it up and found Agatha there.
“Hey,” Agatha said a bit awkwardly.
“Hi…” Rio said, “What’s up?”
“Jen told me you needed me?”
“Oh,” Rio said, reminding herself to thank Jen later, “Yeah. Uh, come in.”
Agatha stepped inside as Rio closed the door.
“The show was amazing,” Agatha said, a nervous smile showing, somehow making Rio love her even more in that moment.
“Thanks. You guys did great with all of the setups.”
“So.. what was it you needed to see me about?” Agatha asked, unable to stop her eyes from raking down the deep V cut of the bodysuit that plunged down Rio’s front.
“I.. just wanted to make sure you were alright… after last night. You seemed… like I made you uncomfortable.”
“No! No, you didn’t,” Agatha hastily answered, “I promise.”
“Okay, good,” Rio sighed with relief.
“Was… that all?”
“Well… could you actually help me with this?” She asked, pointing at the back of her suit.
Agatha’s face flushed before she said, “Sure, of course.”
It felt like a special type of torture as they stood before a full length mirror, Agatha’s fingers pulling down her zipper. Rio took a deep breath, her heart racing as the fabric loosened and fell apart. She was left in her underwear. Both women looked at each other through their reflection.
Rio suddenly turned, standing face to face with Agatha. Agatha reached out, cupping her face in her hands. Rio leaned into her touch, gazing into Agatha’s blue eyes. Her hand reached up and gripped her wrist as if using it to steady herself.
“Would it just be a night?” Agatha breathed.
Rio slowly shook her head, hoping it wouldn’t freak the other woman out.
“Good,” Agatha replied.
They closed the space between them, their lips colliding in a slow kiss. They took their time at first, refusing to come up for air while their tongues danced around one another. As the electricity grew between them, their movements became more frantic, more charged.
Rio pulled Agatha’s shirt up and off, finding nothing underneath. Agatha was already kicking her jeans off before she lost balance and fell back onto the bed. She was about to get back up when Rio was suddenly crawling over her like a panther.
Rio looked at her, her eyes moving down to her breasts. She dove down, wrapping her lips around her nipple, grinding her tongue against it. Agatha drew in a sharp gasp, her back arching off of the mattress. Rio moved to the other breast, her dark eyes locked onto her.
Agatha reached down and gripped Rio’s ass, digging her nails in. The other woman let out a feral moan that activated something in her. In one swift motion, Agatha rolled them over, topping Rio. Her long hair fell over her neck in a curtain as she looked down at her.
Rio was so used to people assuming she was a top that Agatha’s move completely took her by surprise. It stoked the fire in her chest, making her need this woman more than she thought was possible.
“Fuck me,” she whispered.
“Oh,” Agatha said, gripping her chin in her hand, “I intend to.”
Agatha reached down, rubbing Rio over the lace of her panties. Rio sucked in a sharp breath as her entire body came to attention for Agatha. The woman had complete control over her with just a little touch.
“Mm… you soaked through your panties…”
Agatha pulled her underwear down her waist and legs, moving down between her thighs. She kissed up her form and wrapped her arms around her thighs. She ran her tongue along her slit before finding her clit. Soft whimpers left Rio’s lips as Agatha toyed with her.
She slid her tongue inside of her, yanking her closer by her thighs. Rio’s hands clutched the sheets. She stared at her new favorite view of Agatha’s head between her legs. Agatha let go of one leg before using her free hand to tease her. She slid two fingers into Rio, causing her toes to curl.
“Fuck! Yes..” Rio gasped.
Agatha’s tongue circled and swiped over her clit. She sucked while thrusting into her, crooking them against the most sensitive spot of hers. It didn’t take long for Rio’s pleasure to build. She gasped and moaned as her cunt strangled Agatha’s hand. Agatha watched her as she stroked and licked her through her climax. Agatha had a wicked smile on her lips. She moved up her form, nipping and biting everywhere she could reach.
She moved to straddle her chest, moving up onto her knees. She looked down at Rio, saying, “Now, show me what a good girl you are.”
Agatha grabbed the headboard and lowered herself onto Rio’s face. Agatha’s dominance was intoxicating. Rio found herself wanting her approval along with her pleasure. She ran her hands up her thighs as her tongue explored her. Agatha let out a soft moan at the sensation.
Rio’s hands settled on her ass, gripping and slapping it as she wrapped her lips around her clit. Agatha’s moan tore from her mouth at the slap. Rio would have smiled to herself if her mouth wasn’t full. She slapped her a few more times, noticing how wet she became with each strike.
Agatha looked down at her as she rolled her hips. She reached down, running a hand through Rio’s hair. Her breathing quickened and her heart raced. Her moans rose in pitch until they stopped altogether. Her mouth opened in a silent scream as Rio drank her arousal. She caught her breath, looking down at her and saying, “Good girl.”
She moved off of her and laid beside her. Rio surged forwards and kissed Agatha, her lips covered in her. The two women pulled back to look at one another. Rio smiled softly and played with the ends of Agatha’s hair. Agatha gazed into her eyes until her own closed. She snuggled into Rio, the dominant woman suddenly cuddly in her sleep. Rio ran her fingers through her long hair until she drifted off with her.

That is until said employee was also the same woman she had a one night stand with a week ago! WAIT???!! WHAT IS THIS ITS NOT HER UNDER ME BUT ME UNDER HER?!??!? WHAT IS HAPPENING?!??!?!?!?!?!!!!
Click more for full plot!
Modern Office AU (F/F Beefleaf flavor)
Shi Qingxuan lives like a princess, she has it all! friends, money, position in a company courtesy of her brother who is the owner of said company. Shi wudu is a successful business tycoon and is planning on running as a politician and SQX fully supports her brother.
Her friends invited her to go clubbing being the social butterfly that she is, she accepted the invitation. As soon as she enters the club, she notices this lady dressed in a black minidress.
This lady has an air of mystery in her but just spends her time alone drinking on a corner of the club, she doesn’t interact with anyone and just turns down attempted advances on her by others but she can’t help notice said lady keeps glancing at her.
SQX admits she feels drawn to this woman plus she is gorgeous! So she steels herself to go invite her to dance at least, hopefully she won’t be rejected.
When SQX asked if she wanted to join her on the dance floor the lady in black turned her down dejected she starts to leave but the Lady stopped her.
MY: “I'm not much for dancing but shall we drink some wine while you keep me company instead? I admit it's getting lonely here.”
SQX: “Sure!”
MY: “ What’s your name?”
SQX: “It’s Shi Qingxuan”
MY: “Ming Yi, nice to meet you Shi Qingxuan”
One thing led to another and they spent the night together, sadly when SQX wakes up Ming Yi is already gone.
She regrets that she wasn’t able to get her number, she would love to see the gorgeous lady again if she allows it but doesn’t regret spending the night with her because she gave her a night worth remembering.
A few days later, SQX is at work and they are about to welcome a newly hired employee that will be working directly under her, the head of the department. Imagine her surprise when she sees the very same woman who she has a one night stand with!
She sees that Ming Yi doesn't have any visible reactions on seeing SQX again, that kinda pricked at her feeling cuz could Ming yi have forgotten about her already? Is she just a passing fling to her?
But no SQX isnt a quitter so she tries to befriend Ming Yi but Ming Yi just treats her like a stranger and when she tries to hint about their shared “history”,
Ming Yi changes topic back to work. It frustrates SQX a lot till one day during overtime and they are the only ones left in the office that Ming Yi confronted SQX.
Ming Yi corners (kabedon) SQX to her door office,
MY: Do you think this is funny? I see the way you look at me, do you think I don't notice your attempts at flirting?
SQX: AHA! I knew it!! You do remember me so why are you ignoring me?
MY: Of course I remember you, my memory isn’t shit. You are aware of the position we are in right, You are my boss and this is inappropriate so i suggest you stop this for both our sake.
SQX: What if I don’t want to? What are you gonna do about Ming Yi?
They just stare at each other and then proceeds to make out and office sex. As they were getting dressed, Ming Yi says she won't deny that the attraction that they feel to each other is mutual but honestly she is quite reluctant in having a relationship with her boss,
so she offers a friends with benefits situation instead SQX agrees to this and thinks that she can charm her way to Ming Yi’s heart and get to see her romantically. Ming Yi on her side tries to set up boundaries such as no strings attached,
they maintain a professional relationship at work, no one can know about this even her friends, and finally no falling in love. They act like a normal boss and subordinate in the office but no one knows that these two are in a FWB situation.
As they spend more time together, SQX inevitably falls and falls harder to her. Based on moods, Ming Yi can be either rough or gentle on her, SQX loves the gentle one because it makes her feel loved by Ming Yi with how tender and gentle she holds her.
During one such night while they were cuddling in bed after their romp, SQX is complaining about how her brother is strict and suffocating sometimes she just needs to get away
So Ming Yi offers her the key to her apartment and tells her if she wants to get away from her brother for a while her doors are always open to her. SQX is touched by this.
She kisses her hard and starts a sweet and gentle round 2 and realizes while they are at it that she loves ming yi and wants to be by her side forever.
Whenever SQX remembers their nights she fondly touches the marks (concealed by make up or her clothing) that Ming yi left on her. SQX tries to be subtle about it, she thinks Ming Yi probably notices the change in her attitude but doesn’t say anything about it.
SQX thinks it's mutual too because of how Ming Yi is being gentle with her during, the way Ming Yi takes care of her after and the simple gestures when they are at work, it's so tender as if they were something more but Ming Yi keeps quiet, SQX doesn't want to assume….
Sometimes she acts cold to her then gently again, it's quite frustrating that Ming Yi is giving her mixed signals but she thinks that Ming Yi is just having a dilemma, SQX leaves her alone for her to figure it out,
SQX doesn’t try to talk about it nor confess to Ming Yi as she doesnt want to rush her and is scared that she’ll lose what they have at the moment, if she can be with Ming Yi like this for now that’s okay, she will give her all the time she needs to sort out her feelings.
Ming Yi may treat her gently at times but in actuality she doesn’t want any of that, it just so happens that this naive woman wrapped in her arms, dozing without a care for the world is a pawn for her plans for revenge.
Ming Yi real name is He Xuan, she grew up privileged and with a loving family, all is well till one day her parents got accused of a crime they didn't commit and paid for it with their lives. With her life suddenly turned upside down, she ended up in the streets.
She was then recruited by a fellow teenager into a mafia group where she will work for them in exchange for food and shelter. She knows being involved in that world is dangerous and may lose her life in the process but way better than starving and dying in some random alleyway.
At least with this she may be able to investigate the truth behind what happened to her family. She owes this one eyed boy a life debt for saving her from the streets and giving her the opportunity for revenge, because years later she finds out the truth about her misfortunes.
Turns out Shi Wudu, a huge business tycoon is actually quite corrupt doing dirty deals and other crimes behind the scenes. The Police won’t arrest him because the police is also in on it and coincidentally her family is partners with this company and was chosen as scapegoats.
With vengeance fueling her, she created an elaborate plan to cause this man who took everything away from her his downfall. As soon as she established her own mafia group and became a boss herself with the help of her friend/brother (she treats HC as her brother)
The plans are set in motion and it starts with Shi Wudu’s beloved little sister, Shi Qingxuan. From her seducing SQX and working in Shi Wudu’s company everything is part of the elaborate plan for this man’s downfall but there are days when HX wavers because of SQX,
she admits that she has become quite endeared with but during one of the moments when both mafia lords meet up for a drink HC asks him if she is planning on abandoning her plans now that she is close.
HX denies and no she won’t abandon her plans, SQX is just a stepping stone to get closer to the goal, she is nothing to her just a chess piece in this board and resolves to push this through without a care for the collateral damage it may leave, a taste of his own medicine.
Now with the elections drawing near, SQX notices something off with her brother and how Ming Yi is acting. She has gotten even colder now and doesn’t join her often in bed even if she does, she could feel that she is angry at something.
HX took a leave of absence for a week and hasn’t contacted her ever since…. At home she notices that her brother is also quite tense, when she asks he just says that it's just some setbacks at work and his election campaign.
In reality HX is starting her attack on his businesses and campaign, one by one she destroys it and there’s nothing Shi Wudu can do about it as the police can’t even track it down they know that there is a larger power at play here.
At the same time, SQX got a text where HX wants to meet up cuz she has something to tell her, SQX thinks this is it, this is the moment where their relationship will change for the better she hopes!
Since she also decide to confess her feelings when they finally meet up, she really missed her and wonders where did was she when HX took a leave of absence.
But something is off as the address that HX gave her led to an abandoned house (it was HX childhood home) she can't find Ming Yi but finds her brother instead and is confused that her brother looks panicked and asks her if she harmed in any way but she tells him that she just got here.
Shi Wudu tells her that they've been set up by one of his enemies he thinks and that they should be careful then out from the shadows Ming yi emerges,
SQX immediately goes to her worried that she might be set up to get to her too, not a moment passed when SQX hugged “Ming Yi” she pushes her hard away from her to the point SQX tumbles on the floor.
She was confused on why “Ming Yi” is treating her like this and she doesn't look like the ming yi she has known for months, this “ming yi” looks imposing and sinister.
“Ming Yi” ignores SWX and starts introducing herself as He Xuan and asks if SWD remembers her or her family, SWD answers that he doesn't. SQX asks what is going on,
so He Xuan starts listing all the things SWD did and how today is also the death anniversary of her family, the very family he ruined. She then asks if he now remembers this family he used as scapegoat after she revealed everything.
SWD was like what about them, they have served their purpose no use remembering cannon fodder, this angered HX and starts pointing a gun at him. SQX was shocked by all of this and in denial of what she is hearing because it's just impossible,
Shi Wudu raised her like a spoiled ignorant princess without her knowing of the darkness lurking within, even if SQX has a feeling or an inkling on what her brother is up to but she just turns a blind eye to everything,
because that just impossible her kind, sweet brother strict he may be won’t do that.
SQX jumps in front of her brother asking HX to stop this, this isn't her which HX just raises a brow "you dont know anything about me" and decides fine shell be merciful and asks for an apology and when he doesn’t she points the gun to SQX instead.
SWD starts kowtowing, “I apologize for everything I did.THERE! Are you happy now?” he tries to rise but HX just smashes his head again on the floor. “Did I permit you to rise?” SWD clenching his fist so hard you can see his knuckles turn white “No.”
SQX is just crying on the side and can't bear to see her once proud brother like this. “Ge, please just apologize properly” she says between sobs,
SWD just glared at her to be quiet, he does so and asks that her beef is with him so let his sister go as she has nothing to do with it, she knows nothing. HX says that's why it's so detestable she knows nothing,
why wasn't she allowed to know nothing that all her possessions and position she gained because lives were trampled, she didn't know then but is still ignorant. She turns to SQX with a chilling glare, she told SQX that she gave her many chances but it seems like SQX ignored all of it.
She just starts sobbing and apologizes now, “what good is your apology?” so she demands a life for a life to atone for the sins. SWD tries to negotiate that his sister’s life does not merit a death sentence and HX asks in turn which of his family sinned? Which among them deserved death?
Both just remained silent and HX just wonders why can't they answer her now. So she makes them choose a way to atone for their sins: one SWD kills his sister and makes himself scarce or two SQX kills SWD and never shows herself in front of her again.
Forget everything that happened, it's what she does best after all; the choice is theirs. SWD tries to bargain that he'll kill himself instead but HX tells him he has no right to bargain.
SQX tells her brother to pick the first one but SWD rejects it so SWD just decided to kill both of them (him and her sister) but HX put a stop to it by hitting SWD with end of her gun telling him if she gave him a third path
then SWD starts laughing and mocking HX how everything she did for revenge was futile. SQX pleads with SWD that he stop talking because it just makes everything worse.
HX asks how could he have no remorse over the lives he trampled but SWD being the prideful man that he is tells him that remorse is useless and a joke
while SQX just calls for Ming Yi while clutching her leg begging her to stop and apologizing HX looked at her and said “you called for the wrong person” then she pulls the trigger and shoots SWD in the head
As HX was walking away SQX stops her again and asks in a dazed quiet voice if she is happy now that she got her revenge and asks hx if she can answer her just one thing.
Were all the time they shared real or did HX just use her for her revenge? Was there even a tiny space in HX's heart for her during that time?
HX stops but doesnt turn around to answer just says SQX already knows the answer to that the she asks back if she has something else to say to her but hears nothing,
HX continued to walk away just as SQX starts breaking down on the floor and begs to be killed why leave her like this? She already lost EVERYTHING, what's the point in living then?!
HX turns around at this and responds coldly “Dream on. If you have someone to blame for your misfortunes, blame your brother." and SQX lost consciousness then. For Shi Wudu his greed was his downfall, for SQX it was her ignorance.
After the whole ordeal HX took a break and lied low as the whole thing made it to the headlines since SWD is a well known person and a political candidate while his sister went missing, the police doesn’t know her whereabouts.
In reality SQX is setting up for her new life in a faraway town, far away from her old life in the city. While SQX was getting used to her new commoner life,
It was hard but not as bad as she expected since there seems to be someone looking out for her. She doesn't know who and she doesn't want to make assumptions.
She wants to think it's that person but maybe not, one of her brother's old friends perhaps? She is actually right in her first hunch HX still keeps tabs on her well-being but wont interact after everything that happened between them.
After everything HX still feels responsible for her because technically she is just a bystander who got caught in the crossfire. Her only sin was being ignorant of everything. It’s best that they don't cross paths ever again.

A thoughtful selection of furniture from Alfresco Event Furniture Hire, including table and chair hire in Hertfordshire, can transform a mundane gathering into an extraordinary affair, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Setting the Tone with Event Furniture
First impressions matter, and the moment guests step into the venue, the event furniture sets the tone. Imagine walking into a corporate event, greeted by sleek, modern chairs and well-designed tables. The atmosphere exudes professionalism and sophistication. On the contrary, mismatched, worn-out furniture can create a disorganised and unprofessional vibe, affecting the perceived quality of the event.
Prioritising Comfort and Functionality
Comfort is key when it comes to event furniture, especially when considering chair hire in Hertfordshire. Uncomfortable seating or poorly arranged tables can quickly turn a promising event into a discomforting experience. Thoughtful consideration of the attendees' needs and the event's purpose is crucial. Whether it's a conference, wedding, or cocktail party, the right furniture ensures that guests can relax and enjoy the occasion.
Harnessing the Psychological Impact of Design
Event planners often underestimate the psychological impact of well-chosen furniture. Colours, shapes, and materials can evoke specific emotions and contribute to the overall atmosphere. For example, warm tones and soft textures in lounge areas can create a cosy and intimate setting for social events, while clean lines and neutral colours in a corporate setting convey professionalism and efficiency. The subtle details in furniture choices can speak volumes about the host's attention to detail and commitment to creating a memorable experience.
Versatile Solutions for Every Occasion
Versatility is another key consideration when selecting event furniture, including table hire in Hertfordshire. Furniture that can be easily rearranged or repurposed for different events provides flexibility for organisers. Modular furniture, for instance, allows for various configurations, adapting to the changing needs of different occasions. This not only adds practicality but also demonstrates a level of adaptability that can be appreciated by both guests and planners.
Practicality and Adaptability
Beyond aesthetics, the functionality of event furniture plays a crucial role. From providing ample space for networking to accommodating technological needs, furniture should enhance the overall flow of the event. Charging stations, strategically placed tables for laptops, and comfortable seating for discussions are just a few examples of how thoughtful furniture choices can improve the overall event experience.
Embracing Sustainability and Social Media Impact
Sustainability is an increasingly important factor in all aspects of life, and events are no exception. Choosing eco-friendly, recyclable, or upcycled furniture, such as tables and chairs, not only aligns with modern values but also reflects a commitment to responsible event planning. This not only resonates with environmentally conscious attendees but also contributes to a positive public image for the event and its organisers.
The impact of thoughtful event furniture choices extends beyond the event itself. Social media plays a significant role in sharing experiences, and aesthetically pleasing furniture can become a focal point for attendees' posts. Unique and well-designed pieces can become a talking point, generating buzz and increasing the event's visibility online.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the impact of thoughtful event furniture choices goes beyond mere aesthetics, especially when considering table hire, chair hire, and LED dance floor hire in Hertfordshire. It influences the first impression, sets the tone for the event, and contributes to the overall experience of attendees. So, the next time you plan an event in Hertfordshire, remember that the furniture you choose from Alfresco Event Furniture Hire is not just a place to sit; it's a statement about the event's personality and the level of care invested in making it truly extraordinary.

Sugar Harvest
Yandere Candy Entity + G/N Reader
[Candy] gore, faux body horror
Summary: You collect tomorrow's batch of customer praised taffy from your sweet as can be lover
You lift your surgical mask over your nose as you enter the bathroom.
Clouds of cherry scent steam pour out from the fog filled room; your eyes stung from the mist and sugar presence in the air. Small lovehearts stain the mirror, reddish, sticky fingerprints engrained on the warped glass. Puddles of pink tinted water trace back to the bathtub where a fuchsia limb dances atop the still flowing waters; faucet spewing a scolding charge on the body casually kicking their legs in a soup of their own skin. The flesh of their outstretched appendages falls apart and straight into the large container on the floor, exposed sugary bones reaching out to you with glee.
"Gumdrop.... Water's just fine."
You walk over to the side of the tub. The flesh of their upper torso, neck area, and arms had been melted off by the boiling water - most scooped into the various boxes around the tub while the rest floated on its plastic covered floor. Its cherry scent is even stronger up close, mixed with a hint of watermelon. Sucrose had been drinking extract of the same flavor the whole week to see if it would make any difference. The bubbling taffy caked around their injuries pours over the wounds, welding them close throughout the process. Sucrose hops up on their legs and turns so you can see the back of their head.
"What do you think, Hun? I wanted to stock up more than usual this time, plus I wanted to see what I looked like with shorter hair - so I cut it!"
What once was twin ponytails that reached their lower back had been hacked off into a curly bob right at the nap of their neck. The lobbed off hair sits in the tub closest to you, frayed like the dead ends of real hair, but taffy none the less. It'd be back to official length by the following week. You had little opinion on that matter, but more product meant less time you had to spend in this sweat shop.
"Looks great..."
"Aha, I knew you'd love it! You really are the best partner there ever was."
Partners. That's how this all started. You were the first hire to the pink abomination's candy store. The only hand their stubborn self would ever bring on to deal with the sudden, but swift boost in popularity. Your boss got - comfortable with you. Pay raises, making sure you got home every night, teaching you the recipes of their less popular treats.
They warmed up to you so much they forgot to keep the lid on their biggest secret which led to the horrific discovery their highly sought after candy was made of their own flesh and little were nothing more than a walking mound of sugar. Needless to say, you joined them in the harvest out of fear and the amount of money rolling in. Apparently, consuming their parts caused terrible nightmares, but if the flesh is boiled it negates the effect. Sucrose promises that won't have harmed you if you refused to stay. They would have kidnapped you instead.
"Are you ready to get out?"
"Just a moment...... Mm, yup!"
You toss on a pair of latex gloves and reach over to turn off the water - Sucrose's goopy hand stopping you from twisting the knob.
"You're forgetting something~"
The tensing off their jaw and a soft chewing noise tells you all of what you forgot. You couldn't collect the remaining taffy with the water so hot and it should be safe, so you have no say. Removing your mask with their sticky digits, Sucrose kisses and shoves their own severed tongue into your open mouth. They shut your lips and divulge in their taste as you bite through the wad of taffy and force it down. It's cherry flavored, with a hint of melon. More sweet rather than tart like some brands of taffy. Sucrose marks your neck with their melting essence, groaning faintly as you swallow beneath their touch. They stroke it all the way down to the center of the chest, grinning against your mouth.
"Another successful hall."
