How Manufacturers Can Leverage Content Marketing to Grow
Cold calls, print advertising, tradeshow participation, and knocking on doors once worked well manufacturers can no longer rely on them to generate leads that fuel sustainable, double-digit growth despite having an effective sales team that may still have some skills in these areas.
Inbound lead generation in commercial and industrial markets requires compelling brand storytelling and thought leadership that educates prospects along the buyer’s journey, who don’t want to talk with salespeople before they’re good and ready as they fear being “sold to” by people that don’t have their best interest in mind.
Problems Solved vs. Products & Services, Features & Benefits
Powerfully resonating with prospects requires brand storytelling that converts website visitors into prospects then into customers.
Your brand story begins with having a deep understanding of the problems faced by your prospects, what they need to overcome them, and the value to them in doing so before promoting all of your products and services and their features and benefits. Prospects are searching for who can solve their problems and may have a limited understanding of what will solve their problems, so claiming your solutions are “the best” and that you’re an “industry leader” may mean nothing until they have an understanding of how your products will help them.
The hero of your prospects’ story is themselves, so you need to educate them on how you can solve their problems, and how your people, process, products, and services – not just products – do so. This is what will resonate powerfully with them. In this way, you serve as a guide for achieving success and avoiding failure. Your products and services with their features and benefits are how you solve these problems..
Thus, your “brand story” needs to be told throughout all of your marketing: on your home and about pages, blogs, guides, case studies, marketing collateral, presentations, proposals, press releases, third-party website profiles, direct mail, email campaigns, your tagline, and anywhere else you promote your company.
A brand story for each product and service you sell can also be developed as each of them solves different problems in different ways for different markets. This “sub-brand storytelling” is also effective for different vertical and geographic markets as each has different requirements.
Extracting & Promoting Thought Leadership
When they have a problem that they want to solve – because the pain of not changing exceeds the pain of the change – prospects self-educate themselves by researching the internet before speaking with any vendors, so it’s important to provide educational content that will help them understand how you can solve their problems:
TOFU: Top of Funnel: this content builds awareness by providing an overview of the problems you solve and how your products solve them
MOFU: Middle Funnel: this content goes one level deeper and helps them consider between different options that can solve their problem
BOFU: Bottom Funnel: this content gets very specific and helps prospects make their final decisions
OOFU: Out of Funnel: this content is created in a misguided attempt to maximize keyword rankings and website traffic as part of a flawed search engine optimization strategy (SEO) but fails to generate leads though can be quite costly
Tip: it’s important to have a good balance of all types of content (except OOFU).
It’s especially important for manufacturers to understand that, in addition to learning about how you solve their problems with your products and services, your prospects want to know how your solutions and business practices compare with both direct and indirect competitors. They also want to understand how their investment can be cost-justified so they can sell the idea of buying from you to internal decision makers that may not be in communication with you. Product comparisons are very useful because this is what prospects try to compile themselves, especially if they include areas where your competitors have an advantage over yours. Case studies that include return on investment (ROI) estimates are also highly useful for prospects.
Lead-Generating Content Begins with Keyword Research
Understanding and prioritizing what your prospects are searching for is a critical first step for lead generation, which begins with conducting keyword research on all the different terms your prospects may use.
Onsite SEO then fully leverages the content you’ve already developed when you work the highest priority keyword phrases into your page titles, meta descriptions, H1 headers, and throughout the content of each page – just remember it has to read well and should only be performed by someone that thoroughly understands your business and what prospects value.
Brainstorming content ideas that incorporate these keyword phrases and educates prospects along the buyer’s journey is the next step, following by prioritizing these content ideas into an editorial calendar. The best content comes from getting a professional copywriter to interview your company’s thought leaders and then writing up what is learned in the form of foundational website content, blogs and guides.
Best Practice: Google Search Console reports the keywords people searched for to find you.
Creating Lead Magnets
When your prospects discover that you are providing education and thought leadership for how you can solve their problems, many will be willing to provide their contact information to download this gated content – especially long-form, MOFU and BOFU content including guides, whitepapers, ebooks, and webinars. It’s also important that your contact forms ask prospects where they found out about you so you can attribute each download to the marketing or other activities that generated them. It’s not recommend to gate promotional material that prospects expect to be freely available, including blogs, brochures, data sheets, infographics, case studies, and similar materials.
Promoting MOFU and BOFU also generate even more website traffic and leads, including in Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaigns, Microsoft Ads and other pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, your social media profiles (especially LinkedIn and Twitter), on third-party article publishing sites (e.g. Medium), and throughout your public relations activities.
The Manufacturing Content Creation & Lead Generation Process
Here are the steps for creating content that has been proven to generate leads and product sales from many commercial and industrial manufacturers:
Conduct keyword research and optimize all of your current content for search
Develop brand storytelling and implement it throughout your home and about pages, marketing collateral, presentations, and all other marketing materials
Write blogs and publish them on a consistent schedule, educating prospects on a wide variety of topics that help them understand how your products and services will solve their problems
Syndicate unique versions of this content on high ranking, third-party websites
Launch Google ads and email campaigns to bring more prospects in
Create microsites to promote how you solve specific problems in your top vertical markets
Launch ecommerce to supplement sales through your channel partners for people that want to speak with and buy directly from you – just don’t undercut them, so selling only at list price is recommended
Evaluate new market opportunities where your current competitors are irrelevant with Blue Ocean Strategy
This approach routinely generates sustainable, double-digit sales growth with an ROI of over 300% within 12-18 months when executed by an experienced industrial marketing agency – and your company will no longer be a well-kept secret in your markets.
The Case for a Marketing Audit
While it may be appealing to hire a full-time content marketer, SEO specialist, or to outsource to a manufacturing marketing agency that may wow you with shiny objects, conducting deep dive marketing due diligence with an experience marketing consulting resource understands your industry is typically a better way to start.
An effective marketing audit will identify what it will take for you to generate sustainable, double-digit growth by leveraging brand storytelling, content marketing, SEO, content syndication, email campaigns, marketing automation, social media, advertising, PR, and more.
Most marketing audits focus only on promotional marketing communications, so you may want to find an industrial marketing agency that can auditing the other three Ps of your marketing: products and services, pricing and placement (selling through channels and go-to-market strategy).

Responsive vs. Adaptive: Choosing the Right Design Approach for Web and Mobile
In today's digital landscape, creating a seamless user experience across various devices is crucial for the success of any website or application. With the proliferation of smartphones, tablets, and desktops of varying sizes, designers and developers face the challenge of ensuring their content looks great and functions well on all screens. Two popular approaches have emerged to tackle this challenge: responsive design and adaptive design. In this blog post, we'll explore both methods, their pros and cons, and help you decide which one might be the best fit for your project.
Understanding Responsive Design
Responsive design is an approach that aims to create a fluid and flexible layout that automatically adjusts to fit the screen size of the device it's being viewed on. This method uses CSS media queries to modify the design and layout based on the viewport width, allowing the content to "respond" to the user's device.
Key Features of Responsive Design:
Fluid Grids: The layout is based on proportional percentages rather than fixed pixel values.
Flexible Images: Images scale within their containing elements to prevent them from displaying outside their parent container.
CSS Media Queries: These allow different styles to be applied based on the device's characteristics, primarily screen width.
Advantages of Responsive Design:
One Design for All Devices: Developers only need to create and maintain a single version of the website.
Future-Proof: As new devices with different screen sizes emerge, responsive designs can often accommodate them without major changes.
Cost-Effective: Generally less expensive to implement and maintain compared to creating separate designs for each device type.
SEO-Friendly: Google recommends responsive design, which can potentially improve search engine rankings.
Disadvantages of Responsive Design:
Performance Challenges: The same content is loaded for all devices, which can lead to slower load times on mobile devices.
Complex Implementation: Creating a truly responsive design that works well across all devices can be challenging and time-consuming.
Limited Control: Designers have less control over how the layout appears on specific devices.
Understanding Adaptive Design
Adaptive design, also known as adaptive layout, takes a different approach. Instead of creating a fluid design that changes continuously with the screen size, adaptive design detects the device type and loads a pre-set layout designed specifically for that device's screen size.
Key Features of Adaptive Design:
Multiple Fixed Layouts: Typically, designers create layouts for common screen sizes (e.g., 320px, 480px, 760px, 960px, 1200px, and 1600px).
Server-Side Components: Often involves server-side detection of the user's device to serve the appropriate layout.
Device-Specific Optimizations: Each layout can be tailored to the specific capabilities and constraints of target devices.
Advantages of Adaptive Design:
Optimized Performance: Each device receives only the resources and code necessary for its specific layout, potentially improving load times.
Greater Control: Designers have more precise control over how the site looks on specific devices.
Tailored User Experience: The design can be customized to take advantage of device-specific features or accommodate limitations.
Disadvantages of Adaptive Design:
Higher Development Costs: Creating and maintaining multiple layouts for different devices can be more time-consuming and expensive.
Less Flexible: May require updates when new devices with different screen sizes become popular.
Potential for Redundant Code: If not managed carefully, adaptive designs can lead to duplicate code across different layouts.
Choosing the Right Approach
Deciding between responsive and adaptive design depends on various factors specific to your project. Here are some considerations to help guide your choice:
When to Choose Responsive Design:
New Projects: For new websites or applications, responsive design is often the go-to choice due to its flexibility and future-proofing.
Content-Heavy Sites: Blogs, news sites, and other content-focused platforms often benefit from the simplicity of responsive design.
Limited Budget: If resources are constrained, responsive design can be more cost-effective in the long run.
SEO Priority: If search engine optimization is a primary concern, responsive design aligns well with Google's recommendations.
When to Choose Adaptive Design:
Existing Sites: When retrofitting an existing desktop site for mobile, adaptive design can sometimes be easier to implement.
Performance-Critical Applications: For sites where speed is crucial, adaptive design's ability to serve optimized content for each device can be beneficial.
Complex Functionality: If your site has features that require significantly different interfaces on mobile vs. desktop, adaptive design offers more control.
E-commerce Platforms: Online stores might benefit from adaptive design's ability to tailor the shopping experience to different devices.
Hybrid Approaches
It's worth noting that the choice between responsive and adaptive design isn't always binary. Some projects benefit from a hybrid approach that combines elements of both:
RESS (Responsive Design + Server Side Components): This approach uses responsive design as a base but incorporates server-side components to optimize certain elements for specific devices.
Adaptive Content: Some sites use a responsive layout but adapt the content served based on the device, combining the flexibility of responsive design with the performance benefits of adaptive content delivery.
Conclusion
Both responsive and adaptive design have their place in modern web development. Responsive design offers simplicity and flexibility, making it a great choice for many projects, especially those starting from scratch. Adaptive design, while potentially more complex to implement, can provide performance benefits and a more tailored user experience for specific devices.
Ultimately, the best approach depends on your project's specific needs, target audience, and resources. Consider factors such as your content, desired user experience, development resources, and maintenance capabilities when making your decision. In some cases, a hybrid approach that leverages the strengths of both methods might be the optimal solution.

You have a brand and you want it to be promoted all across the world. You know you have social media and nowadays it is the only platform where you can reach your brand to the audience swiftly. But, social media is not only for posting your perfect latte art or your backyard, having a strong presence can bring you exponential benefits. Through social media, you can easily reach more people and get customers by making your brand visible. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter are profitable ways to promote your brand since almost 4.2 billion people in the world are using them, it becomes more consistent for people to hang out on it most of the time . When people trust you with your brand, consider you win the race. You’ll get new leads that get converted to customers, and if your customers are happy and satisfied with your services or products, you'll get more deals later on. So let me introduce you to 10 benefits of having a strong social media presence if you choose to spend a few hours on social media per week.
1. Your trustworthy and effective customer service to keep retaining them:
While it is important that your brand needs a customer base, the most important thing is you also need to respond to your customers' queries about your brand. In that way, you can build a long-lasting relationship with your customers. You can respond to customers quickly in no time, as when it comes to social media, all it takes is a direct message to message your customers. Popular apps like Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin all have direct message features that are very convenient for your business to flourish.
2. Being relatable with your audience
There are ‘n’ number of trends going on every day. From relatable office memes on Instagram reels to soft launching the brand like offering a sneak peek or showing behind the scenes which will build anticipation among the audience. Instagram has even started by adding music audio to carousel posts to make them more aesthetic. Creating posts that will make your audience go like, “Hey, that’s so relatable, that happened to me yesterday!” will make them connect with your brand immediately.
3. Promoting your brand without any third party:
Gone are the days when middlemen were there for literally anything. Startups can rely on themselves now, without any third party. You can post your brand on social media without any intermediary. Audiences will look at your brand through LinkedIn posts, Instagram reels, and even through Twitter.
4. New leads every day
Lead generations are vital and at the heart of creating any brand. Without any leads, your brand will be stranded in a desert. But if you use social media logically and attract more customers, 90% of the time those viewers convert into leads and boost up your business.
5.Get your network cycle
As a brand owner, you need to constantly look out for opportunities. Which only helps when you use your social media platform to connect with fellow brand owners. Collaboration with business owners can be greatly beneficial for the growth of your business. Especially collaborating through influencer marketing for brand exposure and fellow business owners will increase visibility.
6.Connect through SEO
Optimizing your social media page by adding relevant keywords will make your page appear when people search related to your brand. Adding a physical location will make your brand easily recognizable, Facebook and Google are prime examples of that. Sharing valuable and accurate content deserves recognition from your audience. When the audience trusts you, they boost your SEO by sharing your content.
7. Advertise your brand with effective costing
Compared to traditional advertising like banners and posters, you can just pay for cost-per-click, 1000 lead impressions and all, which are so effective yet cost less. By this, you can concentrate on your other tasks such as filtering out your target audience. By sponsored content, you can cover more audiences such as influencer marketing. You can also not spend any money and go on with your advertising. For example, you can choose to post carousels and video ads free of cost. But when it comes to organic advertising, you need to remember that consistently posting your content will help you to reach your audience. Don’t keep your brand page stale.
8. Withhold your reputation with your audience
Without any sense of trust, any brand will collapse. It is important to note that all brands, including well-established brands, need their reputation to hold in front of the audience to know about them. Startups have a great opportunity to build their reputation in the social media world as the reach is wide and fast. People when they start loving your brand, will automatically do the work of sharing your brand information everywhere.
9. Increased ROI & Sales
To increase Return On Investment and Sales, all you need to do is to know how different social media platforms work. Each one has a different purpose. For example, using hashtags on Twitter, using visual videos on Facebook, and Instagram reels with catchy content, and posting content on relevant pages on LinkedIn. Following these purposes will lead to more audience engagement and will convert your sales into money. Posting on social media is a great way to get more sales as people are always using social media, which you can take up to your advantage.
10.Make your business measurable
Social media allows your business to measure your success. Isn’t that great? To know where exactly you stand in terms of Return On Investment, or advertisement cost you can use Instagram analytics tools to measure your success. Web SEO vs YouTube SEO
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is crucial for visibility and traffic generation in the digital landscape. While traditional web SEO has been a staple for online businesses, the rise of video content has given birth to a new dimension of optimization known as YouTube SEO. This article explores the similarities and differences between web SEO and YouTube SEO, highlighting key strategies and considerations for optimizing content on both platforms.
Understanding Web SEO
Web SEO primarily focuses on optimizing content to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. It involves various on-page and off-page techniques to improve a website's visibility and organic traffic. Key components of web SEO include keyword research, content optimization, link building, and technical optimization.
Keyword Research
In web SEO, keyword research is pivotal in understanding user intent and targeting relevant search queries. Marketers use tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, and Ahrefs to identify high-volume keywords with low competition. These keywords are strategically integrated into website content, meta tags, and URLs to enhance visibility and relevance.
Content Optimization
Content optimization involves creating high-quality, informative, and engaging content that satisfies user queries. Web SEO emphasizes optimizing title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and image alt texts with targeted keywords. Additionally, structured data markup and schema.org implementation improve search engine understanding of content, leading to enhanced visibility in SERPs.
Link Building
Link building is another critical aspect of web SEO, focusing on acquiring high-quality backlinks from authoritative websites. Backlinks serve as votes of confidence, signaling to search engines the credibility and relevance of a website. Strategies such as guest blogging, influencer outreach, and content syndication are commonly employed to earn backlinks and improve search rankings.
Technical Optimization
Technical SEO ensures that a website is accessible, crawlable, and indexable by search engine bots. This includes optimizing site speed, mobile responsiveness, site architecture, and XML sitemaps. Addressing technical issues such as broken links, duplicate content, and crawl errors enhances user experience and search engine visibility.
Understanding YouTube SEO
YouTube SEO is the process of optimizing video content to rank higher in YouTube's search results and recommendations. With over 2 billion logged-in monthly users, YouTube has emerged as a powerful platform for content creators, marketers, and businesses to reach a global audience. Similar to web SEO, YouTube SEO involves keyword research, content optimization, engagement metrics, and channel authority.
Keyword Research
YouTube SEO begins with thorough keyword research to identify topics and search queries with high search volume and low competition. Creators utilize YouTube's search suggest feature, keyword research tools, and competitor analysis discover relevant keywords and phrases. Long-tail keywords and question-based queries are particularly effective in capturing user intent and driving organic traffic.
Content Optimization
Optimizing video content on YouTube involves several key elements, including title, description, tags, and thumbnails. The title should be compelling, and descriptive, and include targeted keywords to attract viewers' attention. Similarly, the video description should provide context, include relevant keywords, and incorporate calls-to-action (CTAs) to encourage engagement and subscriptions. Tags help YouTube understand the content of the video and improve discoverability in search and related videos.
Engagement Metrics
YouTube's algorithm considers various engagement metrics to determine the quality and relevance of video content. Factors such as watch time, likes, comments, shares, and click-through rate (CTR) influence a video's ranking in search results and recommendations. Encouraging audience interaction, responding to comments, and promoting social sharing can positively impact engagement metrics and visibility on the platform.
Channel Authority
Building channel authority is essential for long-term success in YouTube SEO. A strong and consistent brand presence, regular uploading schedule, and audience engagement contribute to channel authority. Collaborations with other creators, participation in YouTube communities, and cross-promotion on social media platforms help expand reach and increase subscriber base, further enhancing channel authority and visibility.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while web SEO and YouTube SEO share fundamental principles, they operate within distinct ecosystems with unique optimization strategies and considerations. Both disciplines require an in-depth understanding of audience behavior, search algorithms, and content optimization techniques to achieve sustainable visibility and growth. By leveraging the strengths of both platforms and adopting a holistic approach to SEO, businesses and content creators can maximize their online presence and drive meaningful results. What is Search Marketing?
Search marketing, also known as SEM (Search Engine Marketing), is a digital marketing strategy that aims to increase a website's visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs).
It involves both organic (unpaid) and paid methods to improve a website's ranking on search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
In simple terms, search marketing is all about getting your website to appear at the top of the search results when people are looking for products or services related to your business.
It helps drive targeted traffic to your website, increase brand awareness, and ultimately, generate more leads and sales.
Now, let's dive deeper into the two main components of search marketing.
Do you know? - “SEO is the best digital investment because results compound. Done correctly, your investment doesn’t grow 10% per month or become 10% more cost-effective, like PPC ad optimization. Instead, it 10x’s. Then, it 10x’s again” – Search Engine Land
Search Marketing:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): SEO is the process of optimizing your website's content, structure, and technical aspects to make it more search engine-friendly.
The goal is to improve your website's visibility and ranking in organic search results.
This involves keyword research, on-page optimization (such as optimizing meta tags, headings, and content), off-page optimization (building high-quality backlinks), and technical optimization (ensuring your website is mobile-friendly, has fast loading speed, and has good navigation).
SEO is a long-term strategy that requires ongoing efforts to maintain and improve your website's ranking.
It helps you attract organic traffic by targeting specific keywords and optimizing your website for search engines' algorithms.
“The best way to learn and iterate on your SEO strategy is to try things, make mistakes, and improve your process” – Conductor
Search Engine Advertising (SEA): SEA, also known as PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising or paid search advertising, involves bidding on keywords to display ads on search engine results pages.
These ads are typically displayed above or below the organic search results and are marked as "sponsored" or "ad."
With SEA, you pay only when someone clicks on your ad, making it a cost-effective way to reach your target audience.
The success of your SEA campaign depends on factors such as keyword selection, ad copywriting, landing page optimization, and bid management.
“Negative keywords are essential for optimizing PPC campaigns and maximizing ROI” – Semrush
Both SEO and SEA work hand in hand to maximize your website's visibility in search results.
While SEO focuses on organic rankings, SEA allows you to appear at the top of the search results instantly by paying for ad placements.
It's important to note that search marketing is not limited to just search engines.
It also includes other forms of online advertising like display ads and remarketing campaigns that target users who have previously visited your website.
“Around 80% of PPC specialists and 20% of SEO specialists need upskilling or reskilling due to the impact of generative AI and changing trends in search” – The Traffic Talk Newsletter
SEO vs Paid Search Advertising [or PPC]:
Image Content Source - Generated through ChatGPT
In conclusion, search marketing is a vital aspect of digital marketing that helps businesses connect with their target audience effectively.
By utilizing both SEO and SEA strategies, you can improve your website's visibility, attract qualified traffic, and grow your online presence [including leads and sales].

NEWKIDS NEWDREAMS 001
SCHEDULE TYPE: VARIABLE SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS: Unless stated otherwise, participants are still expected to take part in the TRAINEE MISSION
on JANUARY 20, the following trainees are contacted by their head coach to tell them that they will need to join a special meeting taking place the NEXT DAY at 2PM:
@lgcbk
@lgcxnoeul
@lgcsaem
@lgcwenjun
@lgcyichen
when the five trainees are let in the meeting room on JANUARY 21, they are greeted by a surprising group of people, already seated and waiting for them; KIM HYUNCHEOL (the trainees' head manager), SEO YOUNGJAE (kim hyuncheol's assistant), PARK JEONGAN (current CEO), LEE ISEUL (head creative director) and LEE YONGSEOK (DBSD DAEHYUN's manager). after the trainees have sat down themselves, PARK JEONGAN takes the lead of the meeting: "for most of you, it's your first time meeting some, so let us introduce ourselves" one by one, they introduce (or reintroduce) themselves. "you must be wondering why the 5 of you have been called here, so let's cut to the chase." he continues on, rather seriously. "ONE YEAR AGO, we introduced to our BOARD MEMBERS, who we thought would be the NEXT GENERATION of LEGACY through a SHOWCASE. today, only one of the trainees selected at the time is here in this room." he opens a hand towards HAN NOEUL. "this goes to show you that our NEXT PHASE has been in the works for a long time now." he leans over in his chair, crossing his fingers together, arms resting on the table. "you'll therefore understand why we want to proceed with caution with this new project." he pauses to look at each of the boys present in the room. "the 5 of you have been selected for it. titled 'NEWKIDS NEWDREAMS', this project should see the launch of a NEW PERMANENT GROUP, ideally, by the end of the year." he raises a hand to forestall any question and even reaction. "while none of you will have to go through the TV SURVIVAL FORMAT of FUTURE DREAMS, this is still an offshot of FUTURE DREAMS and you'll have to prove your worth.
the 'NEWKIDS NEWDREAMS' project will be a YOUTUBE CHANNEL that will follow a PREDEBUT TEAM of TRAINEES from their formation to their debut. which means SOME NEW MEMBERS will be added and some CURRENT MEMBERS could leave. the trainees will be divided in TWO GROUPS:
CORE MEMBERS (BAEK BYEONGKWAN, HAN NOEUL, XUE YICHEN): members currently set to be part of the debut group
TRIAL MEMBERS (KURAMOTO MISAKI, LAI WENJUN): members currently on trial, should their performance during the trimester satisfy the coaches, they will be moved to the core group
NEWKIDS NEWDREAMS SYSTEM
congratulations to the 5 of you for being selected for this project ! as mentioned, this has been in the works for over a year, and we're happy to finally launch it !
as mentioned, the predebut period of the group will be documented on a YOUTUBE CHANNEL to be launched to the public in Q2 2024 (which means the boys will need to keep the details of this project secret until further announcements).
the title of the showcase was actually a hint to this new project ! 'THIS AIN'T FANTASY' because this new group would be rooted in the PRESENT and not in FANTASY like 'FUTURE DREAMS' and it's PROJECT ORIGIN counterpart. as such any NKND member who have participated in LGC BOYS' releases will be considered to exist in TWO SEPARATE VERSE. this will be explained further down the line after the formation has been finalized.
NKND functions with a CORE MEMBER vs TRIAL MEMBER system to make it easier for those uninterested to drop out of it, and those interested to grow their character !
CORE MEMBERS: as long as you do the requirements for NKND, you'll be kept in the group. should you want to drop out, simply ignore the requirements. one missed trimester will move your character to the TRIAL MEMBERS group.
TRIAL MEMBERS: to be moved to core members, trial members must do the requirements for NKND as well as the trainee mission for one trimester. if you wish to drop out of the project, simply ignore the NKND requirements for a trimester and the character will be dropped
** as you might have noticed, the NKND requirements are ADDITIONAL to the REGULAR TRAINEE MISSION, tough, at times, some parts of the missions might be locked from them **
NEW KIDZ ON THE BLOCK
the basis of a new group is to introduce those part of it and this is what the first tasks of the boys will be about ! as this is content for a YOUTUBE CHANNEL, the tasks are divided in 'videos' that the boys will have to film:
NEW KIDZ ON THE BLOCK: DBSD'S DAEHYUN has produced and written the THEME SONG for the youtube channel, titled NEW KIDZ ON THE BLOCK, it will be rerecorded with every members change until the final line up is decided ! the same will be done for the video performance (view lyrics here)
NEWKID PROFILE: facing a camera, each boys will be asked the following questions: 'between dancing, singing, rapping, producing and lyrics writting, which skill do you want to be recognized for?', 'which role(s) would you ideally like to have in the final lineup?', 'on which other youtube show would you like to appear?', 'what's your ideal concept?', 'is there a concept that wouldn't suit you?', 'as an idol, what do you want to achieve?', 'is there anything you would like your group to be known for?'
SHOW US YOUR BEST: each members will record a solo performance* demonstrating what they are best at in terms of skills (singing, dancing, rapping and/or instuments are accepted)
DREAM PERFORMANCE: each members will record a solo performance* of the kpop song of a boygroup they would've wanted for themselves
*only songs released by legacy artists or released by any artists BEFORE january 2022 are eligible
OTHER
please note that the current members have all been moved to the same DORM ! when submitting your form, you will also be allowed to submit 3 STAGE NAME SUGGESTIONS if you wish for your muse to have a stage name!

Part 2
The Love Triangles and Why They're Great Here
I have a lot of gripes about love triangles. First, the Second Love Interest is either bland/awful/an interesting third wheel. Inuyasha. Second, both Love Interests are just awful. Twilight.
Go Back Couple avoids this by making the love interests not only likeable and interesting but also giving them valid reasons as to why they're not the best option for the leads or why they're no longer even an option, and thankfully not by giving them love interests of their own.
Good scene btw.
First, we should compare and contrast everyone in the two love triangles.
*Ban-do - snarky, earnest, impulsive, observant, righteous, and hardworking
*Nam-gil - distant (towards everyone initially), sentimental (mostly with Jin-joo), and abrasive (towards his mothers and other girls)
*Jin-joo - sweet, naive, sentimental, temperemental, hardworking, and somewhat vain
*Seo Yeong - gentle, graceful, easy-going(especially later on), and distant (particuarly when it comes to her problems)
Everyone's default here is nice. These people are generally polite but on their own, they vary so it seems they don't have a lot in common on the surface.
Ban-do vs. Nam-gil
I was worried they'd make Nam-gil just look like the best option instead of actually developing Ban-do into the ideal but remember the premise, Jin-joo married this man for a reason and the show wonderfully displays Ban-do's best qualities to balance out his rascal tendencies.
Ban-do tends to look out for people who couldn't defend themselves, likely because he got into scuffles and would likely be grateful if he was helped the same way. He looked after teens, elderly and even his fellow schoolmate like Ye-rim, yes, it was mostly to fuck with Park but his plan still saved her from a sham of a marriage. All that, coupled with all the times he went out of his way to keep Jin-joo safe from con artists like the English Major and Park himself. Yeah, he was a douche about it but he still meant well. When he overheard Park talking shit about Jin-joo, and at the time he was bitter with her, he still went out of his way to ruin Park's day because fuck that guy.
Nam-gil was not the better guy. Jin-joo tried to woo him, with the fact that he would have turn out to become a famous billionaire History Lecturer , clearly not the best motive. Nam-gil was distant, fickle and was fine being rude to other people with the exception of Jin-joo because Jin-joo was nice to him. He's got a lot of issues he was bottling up and he wanted someone who might have understood that and it was Jin-joo. It would have been sweet really but he wouldn't have been trying to be nicer to his peers if Jin-joo didn't ask.
The end of the story wraps up with these two coming to an understanding when it came to their love for Jin-joo. Ban-do didn't have to, could have let his pride and jealousy get in the way, but he was humble enough to find Nam-gil and thank him for saving Jin-joo from Park Hyung Seok's assault. Nam-gil in turn realized that Ban-do was being genuine and that lead him to confessing to Jin-joo for the sake of being open and honest, with not only her but also himself, letting her go at the end of their date.
Jin-joo vs. Seo Young
I was concerned Seo Young was gonna be too perfect or a secret mean girl just to cause conflict with Jin-joo. Thankfully, Jin-joo still had to work on her flaws to be a better person/partner and Seo Young didn't have to be put down as a character.
Jin-joo being somewhat vain, insecure and materialistic (to a degree) leads to her having this highly romantic or naive idea of marriages. She tried to get with Nam-gil (a future billionaire history lecturer who was supposedly in love with her) and Hyung Seok (Ban-do's future boss-doctor at the pharmaceutical company). After Nam-gil coldly rejected her, she almost immediately ceased all attraction to him, as he gave a bad impression. She only viewed him as a younger man with issues after that. Hyung Seok's sexist comments angered her and it finally made her heed Ban-do's warnings about him.
Seo Young on the other hand, as far as I knew, never had a boyfriend and wasn't looking for one. She was just a school dancer and heart throb, weighed down by academics and theatre by her parents. She just needed someone who was unconditionally supportive and caring of her and her interests.
Unfortunately, they don't have an actual relationship but that doesn't mean they don't add a little something to each other's character on a meta level. The deeper dynamic was one-sided, with Jin-joo being jealous of Seo Young for not only being Ban-do's first love but also being perfect- pretty, popular and talented. Jin-joo eventually learned to regain her appreciation for Ban-do's earnest and hardworking personality, the same one that made Seo Yeong fall in love.
Seo Young for her part, never actually met Jin-joo personally. Especially in the past as they were strangers. In this timeline, she only met the other a few times and her only impressions were 1) She hates Ban-do, 2) She's good at singing and cooking, and 3) She's Ban-do's true love.
When Seo Young figured them out, she was shown to be very happy for them, which was mature. Instead of asking Ban-do to change for them to be together, she supported him and only wished they could still be friends, which she deserved!
With all the dynamics being this good, I want to talk about the best one of all which is of course Ban-do and Jin-joo. They have the best plot and now I will be discussing the timeline of their relationship.
