Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre • #SuperheroSunday • Tired of living under the roof of her overbearing, manipulative mother, teenage #LaurieJuspeczyk runs away from home with the hope that she’ll find a place where she can, finally, be herself. • While Laurie was a pivotal part of the original #Watchmen series, I always felt that her character lacked any substantial depth. Yes, we saw that she closed herself off from her past memories - not wanting to face the fact that the man who tried to #sexuallyassault her #mother was also her biological father. But, as dramatic as that was, it still didn’t do much to make her relatable, or, really, even compelling. What I like about this story is that it provides her with some real substance. • Speaking of the story, it’s actually done really well. It’s a lot tamer than past entires, but that works for her, seeing as she’s a #teenager during the events of this tale. • In addition to the that, I really liked the way in which #SallyJuspeczyk (or, as she would call herself, Jupiter) was handled. Seeing the lengths she’d go to in order to keep her #daughter secluded from others was very interesting; as well as the way in which she constantly pushed Laurie to follow in her footsteps. With Laurie & Dan (#NiteOwl) being the two characters who inherited the title of former #heroes, it’s interesting seeing just how differently they came to obtain their roles. • I also want to add that the #artwork for this piece was perfect for her story - soft & sort of cartoonish, like something out of an #Archie #comic. And then there was the fact that certain pages would use cute illustrations that would depict her feelings in that given moment - such as having a #chibi version of her mother, with horns on her head & a pitchfork in tow, appear when Laurie was upset with her. While the juxtaposition between real life & cartoonish asides would be an issue in some comics, the way in which it is handled here gives us even further insight into Laurie’s thoughts in a new, non-verbal, way. • The relationships, coupled with the unique artwork, make this BW entry definitely worth reading. • My rating 9/10 • And now back to your regularly scheduled feed!

okay i’m doing this questionnaire once again because @lauriejuspeczyk and @honeyjaws got me thinking about rosa/john.....

1. How did they first meet?

god, when rosa was 16 and he was 15.... it was when her town got massacred by a gang that i can’t remember atm but she holed herself in a store and shot/killed anyone that tried to walk in. arthur tried to warn john, who busted through and rosa missed by an inch ghfjfjhf john was like “oh fuck!!!” until arthur had to be like “hey we scared off the remaining gang members who were here” and then she was like “oh whoops” @ john

2. What did they think of each other at first? What was their first impression of the other?

after she got out of the store and got to be, like....... chill, rosa thought john looked dirty and like he hadn’t showered, so she was a little put off by him lmao

john thought she was pretty and a little uhhh crazy, what with her covered in blood spatter jflfjgkfg and also that she was really good with a rifle, he was very impressed.

3. Were they immediately interested / attracted, or did that come later?

it came much later the more time they spent together, but it was rosa who was attracted to him first. for john it came not too shortly after.

4. Why did they fall for each other?

rosa liked how protective and kind john was towards her. any time she was involved in a heist, he always asked if she was doing okay. he’d also subconsciously gravitate towards her just to be around her and talk to her. the one big thing that stood out to her was that he gave her a flower once while he was out hunting and said it was too pretty to be left alone and that it made him think of her.

john had always loved her, but he was being dumb and pushed those feelings way down because he thought he didn’t deserve her. he fell for her because of how passionate she gets and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, even if she drives him crazy 70% of the time lmao

5. Who flirted more before they started their relationship and how?

BOTH. rosa would say something flirtatious and he’d respond right back with something even more dirtier and rile each other up where you could feel the tension until arthur or lua would be like “can y’all just bang, we’re trying to eat”

6. Who made the first move/confessed first?

hoo boy, it was john telling rosa he loved her first, but it was during some argument and he just yelled it like “because i love you, you goddamn crazy woman!” and rosa ended up crying because he called her crazy.....

7. When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?

rosa kissed him first because john couldn’t take the hint and thought all the flirting they’d do with each other was rosa joking around with him. so she had to grab him by the collar of his shirt and gave him a kiss and was like, “do you get it now??”

8.  Which one is more easily made jealous?

rosa,,,,, if rosa sees john being flirty with abigail, she ends up leaving the camp, which is why she’s not around much.

9. What do they fight about? Who’s the first to apologize?

what don’t they fight about? lmao, every day is a fight with them.... okay not that much, but it doesn’t take a lot for them to get mad at the other. they’ll both end up apologizing though

10. Did they have a first date? Where did they go?

they don’t really have time to date, but they’ve had heists where it’s just the two of them, so they’ll count those as dates gbhfjmlfkhjf

11. What do their friends and family think? Do they approve of the relationship?

arthur is kinda like, conflicted i guess? he considers them both like his family so knows how they both are, but he doesn’t hate it. he just wants them to be happy. lua isn’t a fan of john and how he treats rosa at times, but she does call out rosa whenever she complains about him. i gotta know how vi feels tho... @lauriejuspeczyk​

12. Do they like to cuddle/hold hands? Do they prefer to do it privately rather than in public?

they’re very private about any pda, but they’ll subtly hold hands at campfires.

13. How long do they wait before sleeping together for the first time (If they do)? Under what circumstances does it happen?

not very long lmao. they were both drunk and the attraction had already blossomed between them and it just happened out in the middle of the woods...........

15. Do they get married? Who proposes & how?

they doooooo!! john did it shortly after the events from 2. it was over dinner where he just pulled out a ring and set it on the table and she was like “.............what.” and then immediately said yes

16. Do they have children? How many? What are their names?

yes!! they end up having a boy named noah who looks like rosa but acts like john :^)
