April 18, 2019
Today I’m returning from my Mission Trip to Washington, where I’ve spent the past week serving with my Youth Group for Veritas City Church. We spent our time here helping to hang door-hangers on the houses of local neighborhoods advertising their Easter Sunday service. Some of the houses were ridiculous to get to because they’d have three flights of stairs to hike up to get to the front door. Eventually we were able to get over 3,000 hangers hung up with our team of 13 and with three days to work towards it. On our team we had Lydia Edwards, Brooke Lambert, Jennifer Albert, Lauren and Drew Mobley, Alex Jacobs, JJ Herald, and myself, as well as five leaders. On Tuesday after we hung up door-hangers for hours we went out to the Arlington Cemetery, and we got to see the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then yesterday we got to visit many of the Memorials and Monuments in the area, such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. We also saw a ton of veterans and were able to thank them for their service. I was able to buy a USA hoodie while we were there which I absolutely love. The guys and girls got into a huge argument so I spent a lot of time with the girls because the guys were about to drive me insane, so I spent most of the night playing cards with Lydia and Lauren. We also played the Couch Game and Catchphrase a ton!

Sharing a hometown with a country music star makes for interesting work assignments. From left are Paul Overstreet, Wendell Mobley, Dustin Lynch, Lauren Alaina and Justin Ebach performing in my high school auditorium for the fifth annual Dustin Lynch & Friends Benefit Concert. I don’t like country music, but having famous country music songwriters come to town is pretty cool. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrRP0Ykg_Fw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=bfmaytxsdyta
