☕️ What's most comforting about your F/O(s) and your ship? Why?

I've answered this one here, so for this I'll do something comforting they've said to me (I have a private Diacord server where I rp with myself as them). Not everyone is here, though.

Central: I'm keeping you safe-- we're keeping you safe. We're here, Wolf. Even when you can't feel it. You've got to remember that.

Parker: we're safe people / won't hurt you on purpose

Roger: You've got us right here, we're with you to the end of the line.

Jordie: It happened. You survived. That's all you had to do. Now you gotta deal with it. / We love you, and you're worthy of kindness simply because you exist.

Magdelana: Hey, listen. It's fine to get upset. It's not fine to beat yourself up.

Gavin: [Answering 'why are you guys nice to me'?] You need friends-- we're here.

Kitchens: [Ditto.] Is that not what life is? Helping your friends? Including when that friend is you yourself?

Schafer: [Ditto.] It's self love I believe. And that's good.

Barker: [Ditto.] I don't have anything smart to say, but I know I'm nice because you need someone to be. And I'm happy to do that.

Jay: [DItto.] You're my friend-- why wouldn't I be nice?

🧸 Is your F/O(s) good at gift giving? What's something they've given you if so? Do they like to receive presents? If so, what sorts of things?

Central likes giving me stuff; he's figured out stuff and things as a general concept is important to me. I have his old dogtags, some fidget items (cube, tangle), and a handful of plushies.

In return, he likes practical useful things, anything handmade, or (and don't tell anyone) really 'soft' and mushy stuff-- plushie, a card, etc.

Schafer's good at gift giving too; he's very attentive. He's given me a photo album of places he's been-- he knows I can't ever go up to space, so he's content to bring it down to me. (He himself isn't big on gifts; he'd rather talk.)

🎭 What would you and your F/O(s) dress up as for Halloween?

Me: a dogy because I'm basic

Central: I think he'd pretend to be like 'I don't want to do a costume...' and then he has the most amazing superhero looking one ('why superheros' I'm thinking action figures -> superheros)

Parker: he's enthusiastic about it and ends up making a costume that's literally just cosplay of his own OC ('Parker no one knows who that is' 'it's fine it's for me')

Roger: He Needs No Costume (alt answer: a clown, because [SHOT FOR IMPOSSIBLE LANDSCAPES REF])

Magdelana: Lara Croft.

Gavin: I think he's just enough of a nerd to be a Pokemon, especially if I assure him it'll look good-- I think he'd pick something he thinks is cool (like uhhh idk Scizor)

Jordie: dresses up as a character from his books, gets many compliments

Caesar: brain says a swan?? which is VERY specific and funny so I'll allow it

Schafer: also a nerd, dresses up as gender bent Ripley (in this verse they're not really ... they're with me, all of them-- we perpetually hang out and they're aware of their sources)

Barker: dresses up as the Xenomorph, scares Schafer like 15 times at minimum

Roman: designated driver, wearing a pumpkin hat, genuinely delighted to be here but hates wearing costumes

Kitchens: Walter White.

Tim: Werewolf.

Jay: DOESN'T like Halloween, stays in the car, seeing how many candies he can put on Roman's hat until the latter notices

Strasky: I convince him to be a dog boy and he pulls it off flawlessly

Ever: also not a fan of Halloween, but accompanies the rest of us on our walking, is carrying a gun (concealed)

Lucky: dressed up as Felix from RVB, also carrying a gun (openly)

Rusty: I give him a pair of cat ears as a joke and he goes all in; we're all shocked at how much of a cat boy he turns out as and how well it works

Bonus-- my potential F/Os (aka I haven't worked up courage to make it official):

Jeanne: she's a hologram and/or a voice on the radio-- so I think she edits herself slightly to be wearing a fun Halloween mask, or makes her voice weird and creepy

Secret Delta Green person: 'hey [NAME] why is your costume just you in regular clothes' 'humanity is the scariest thing out there' 'oh shut up'

Robert: 'I'm with [NAME] humans are the scariest' 'you WORKED with PANDEMIC LEVEL VIRUSES' 'those can be understood, people... are an enigma' '...I love you Bob' 'thanks'

The Reader: takes their normal appearance (cards and big hat and such) and dials it to eleven; the mystery of what's beneath the hat really adds to their whole vibe (it's a gun. jk. or is it)

All my f/os don't mind caretaking when I need it but I think the like. Capital C caretakers among them would be: Central, Tim, Jay, the Laudomia Crew (Roman, Barker, Schafer), Jordie, and Roger.

Now who's good at it and who's not--

Good at caretaking: Central, Tim, Jay, Roman, Schafer, Ever

Not so good but God they try: Barker, Jordie, Roger, Magdalana, Parker, Strasky, Lucky, Kitchens, Caesar, Gavin

(I think it's very funny that most of them wouldn't know what to do, but they wouldn't like. Be so bad at it they hurt me. Just confused and like . Desperately googling/asking for help. Not in a mean way! They're nice to me.)

Central: Loyalty, knowing he is there even when I can't feel it.

Parker: Self love. (Further context withheld. But you can guess if you've got access to FK aka posts I've made.)

The Trunk Buddies: Feeling that I can be loved even if I have made terrible choices, the sense that there are still a lot of good people around.

Laudomia Crew: They're kind to me, and I know we have each other's backs.

Kitchens: He's trying to be a good person, and I like to think we could and would help each other.

Tim: He's been through some shit and he gets it-- he'd be really nice to me when regressed also.

Jay: Similar to Tim, but with an additional point of 'I want to help you solve this-- let's do it together.'

Strasky: Even at the end of the world, there's still kindness and love.

Ever: That I am enough to help others, and to be helped.

Lucky: He's a protector.

Rusty: A reminder nostalgia and memory does not have to hurt.

General Selfship Ask Game: 2 and 7

2. Do you tend to darker themes in your shipping? If yes, why? Or why not?

Not really? I've got a AU/verse or two with Central that are pretty dark (but in a hurt/comfort way).

Besides that my stuff is really gentle and light, or only dark in the sense of like... being a story where bad things happen but not super darkly, or trying to capture the genre and tone of my F/O's media. Which is funny, considering most of my F/Os are from horror media? Idk how that happened, I am not a huge horror fan.

In any case, I think exploring darker themes with selfshipping is cool and fun, and it's interesting to see how others approach it-- but for me, it mostly just ain't my thing.

7. If you could choose one f/o to be with you RIGHT NOW who would it be, and why?

Hmmm... this is a really hard choice.

I'm gonna go with Central, but specifically Gardenverse!Central-- he's technically here anyway (in a sort of imaginary friend sense), so it's cheating a little bit, but I could use the comfort (got a doctor appointment today and am a bit nervous).

If I can't pick Central I think my other choice would be my Schafer, of the Laudomia Crew-- he's become a comfort in the sense i know I can look to him for help with calming down, and I think he'd be extra nice to me today.

(Speaking of my F/Os being nice-- we talked - see: I roleplayed with myself - about 'why are you guys kind to me' last night and it . Kinda made me realize that as much as I struggle with self hate, I am making progress somewhat.

If my F/Os can say 'we are nice because you need it and we love you and because we love you you love you', and they are just me talking to myself - not even in a dissociative way - then that's proof of growth, of improvement.)
