"...when I was in my 20s, I had a little baby, little Irish, baby, little puppy, little face. And I really felt like I had this kind of darkness inside me. I was like: "Why can't I get a part as a villain?" And then that happened. And then there was loads of villains happening, so then I was like: "Why can't I get - why can't I; why can't people see the real me?!" Uh, and so then Phoebe and I had done a play together in London that nobody saw, and then she, she came a-knocking and that's where the priest came from."
"...we're children forever with our parents. And, you know, everybody has a relationship with their parents, even if they're not around. So it's this really, really beautiful and very, very hopeful kind of, kind of film. And yeah, I think that's what the film is - it's just taking off now, so it's so beautiful to hear everybody's reaction to it."
"It's been phenomenal; it's, it's genuinely - it's a film that's really, really difficult to talk to, but to see the film, I believe is to love the film; I really do. I think it affects people in this extraordinary way. People are like, leaving the cinema, and it's not depressing, as you say, but it's - I'm determined that people don't think it's a really depressing thing. But it's so - it's sort of cathartic and moving. It's very emotional, it's about families and people just love that. People like a good cry in the cinema. And, you know, and there's a bit of romance in there, and it's really, really beautiful. So please just go and see it."
"Yeah, well there's only the four of you so you could get sick looking at each other. And then - but the, but the, the subject matter is so epic, you know? You'll see it when you guys go and see the movie. Uh, you know, it's such a huge subject matter. So it's kind of nice, the juxtaposition between these tiny little things, these, these stories that we think within our own families are just so precious to us but actually, you know, they're huge. You know, our own life story is the most important thing in our world. So um, yeah, it was really, really intimate, and we shot it in the childhood home - it's about this man who goes back to, to his childhood home - and we shot it in the childhood home, actual childhood home, of our director, Andrew Haigh. So we went into this little suburban house and he, he was - of course, he wrote the film and he was imagining his own house, as, as you might do, and then he knocked on the door of his childhood house and he was like: "Hello, I used to live here." And mercifully, they hadn't put a big, disgusting extension onto it. And so, uh, we were able to use it as a 1980s home. So it was extraordinary! I kept looking at him and going: "Are you not - is this not freaking you out that you would have, like, been crying in this little bathroom and all our crew's stomping all over it?" But actually it provided a real intimacy to the, to the atmosphere, you know, because you feel like you were really - even though it's not a true story - you feel like you're representing somebody."

Eddie Izzard appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers February 6, 2023 where she and Seth spoke about her one-woman show (SOLD OUT show, Congratulations!) Great Expectations, her theory of the universe, and Kenny the heckler.
May we all strive to be people who put meaning into life rather than those who take it out.

Seth Myers last night in 'A Closer Look', after the speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted:
If someone you love ever starts talking like that, you need to immediately call 9-1-1. Or, as Kevin would say, "Call one, then another one, and then before both of those a nine!!"

Fragile Snowflake Trump Threatens NBC, Seth Myers for Telling Jokes About Him
J.D. Wolf at MeidasTouch Network:
In a late night Truth Social post, former Trump launched a scathing attack on comedian Seth Meyers and his employer, NBC, accusing the network of spreading political propaganda. Trump specifically targeted Meyers, calling him "Marble Mouth Meyers" and labeling him untalented, before further railing against NBC as a "truly bad group of people." The former president also broadened his criticism to include Comcast, the parent company of NBC and MSNBC, accusing them of pushing "in-kind contributions" to the Democratic Party through their programming. Trump framed late-night comedy shows like Meyers' as not merely entertainment but as tools of political warfare, designed to undermine him and the Republican Party.
Fragile snowflake Donald Trump threatens NBC, Comcast, and Seth Meyers all because Meyers ruthlessly and righteously mocks the Orange Wanker.

"Why are we talking about fanfiction on late-night television?" might be the funniest thing I've heard uttered from someone who participates in fanspaces.
Primarily because folks in fanspaces have worked collectively to draw attention to themselves in the mainstream. To be recognized in the mainstream, especially regarding AO3 and its users disseminating information about it into mainstream spaces, esp after the site "won an award".
Haggling showrunners about "your favorite ships" and being loud enough about that, people who used to engage in those spaces used their media jobs to make social media posts on official accounts about it.
Fans don't have any real self-preservation skills when it comes to what not to show or let people know about. They will sink their own ship just to gain attention from celebrities. I kinda realized that when Merry/Pippin shippers were showing their artwork to the actors back in the 2000s.
Seth Myers and his actor guests squirming in discomfort and heckling the RPF they printed out to read to the late-night show's audience's amusement is a natural continuation of that.
Because I doubt these people consciously sought this stuff out. Someone within the fanspace in question brought it to the actors' attention. Enough so that it became an interview talking point.
Their reaction has, thus far, been the typical reaction of actors finding about RPF.
This is to say, some shit doesn't need to be platformed into the mainstream, and a lack of boundaries or discernment typically lays the groundwork for the kinds of censorship y'all go on and on about. Because once something becomes mainstream, you don't get any say in what happens or how people react to it.
Loose lips sink ships.

As per usual I will be equal parts turned on, shocked, taken aback and giggling like a banshee because Aubrey Plaza is on Late Night with Seth Myers tonight and she’s always unhinged and hot.
