a #Painting I painted a few years ago when I lived in Downtown Las Vegas. The house I was renting was in a rough neighborhood. Next door on one side was an Eldercare apartment building on the other was a vacant lot with a tipped-over old-timey Rusted Radio Tower. Idk I guess I was inspired lol :

As mobile tumblr no longer likes to let people click page links ( 😒 ) we've decided to drop today's preview in a post for all our mobile users' viewing pleasures!
PERDITION, NV POPULATION 1,974
Sitting stubbornly in the southern tip of Nevada, Perdition is 111 miles north of Las Vegas in rocky, sparsely habited Lincoln County. It sits in a scorched valley between the South Pahroc Range and the Delamar Range. Big Rock Wilderness stands directly north, across highway 93, so from any point in town you can see the teeth of jagged desert mountain ranges jutting up from the horizon. Its population is a small and ever-shrinking 1,974. Despite the harsh surroundings, a variety of flora and fauna surround the small town, digging out life from the feet of the mountains. Mesquite, creosote, greasewood, yucca, and more than 30 varieties of cacti dot the landscape. Sheep, foxes, coyotes, bats, wild horses, owls, tortoises and reptiles are among the hundreds of species co-existing in the rugged landscape. Check your shoes before heading out the door: three different types of scorpions live in the deserts of Nevada. Emergency rooms are also frequented by those bitten by local snakes: sidewinders, the Great Basin rattler, the western diamondback, and kingsnakes are all venomous and common.
WEATHER & CLIMATE SOUTHWESTERN USA
Perdition enjoys highs from 100 degrees in the summer to as low as 50 degrees in the winter. On average, they get 159 days of sunshine year-round. It is a semi-arid climate with very little precipitation.
NEIGHBORHOODS & RESIDENCES
King’s Canyon Estates - Home to the ever-shrinking upper echelon of Perdition, patrolled by a security guard and watched by hawkish blue bloods out of gleaming windows. The lawns are unsettlingly green and the manses are polished and opulent. Rebel Creek - Perdition residents call this run-down, burnt-out neighborhood ‘the wrong side of the creek’. Populated by shotgun houses and a few poorly maintained trailers, Rebel Creek is where the down-and-out lurk. As more of the city falls on hard economic times, more residents find themselves washed up here. It’s not advised to walk through at night. Steptoe Terrace Apartments - Close to downtown, reasonably priced, utilitarian. Nothing fancy, not run down; lived-in. It’s a step up from Rebel Creek, at least. Sunridge Court - Middle class Perdition residents live here in their modest but well-built houses and small but pleasantly tended yards. It’s close to the schools, the small city library, and most of downtown proper. Alta Vista - ATLAS employees have brought an unusual white-collar wealth to Perdition, driving up property values and forcing some people out of their homes altogether. This new development sprung up shortly after the ATLAS compound’s arrival, built on land wrenched from the impoverished hands of ranchers and homeowners on the outskirts of Perdition. Eminent Domain and skyrocketing property taxes have left a small but not insignificant portion of residents relocating to Steptoe and Rebel Creek, unable to afford to rebuild and unwilling to move away from the town their families have called home for so many generations.
PERDITION PROPER & LOCAL BUSINESSES
City Hall - The administration building of local municipal government, like everything in Perdition, has seen better days. Not many folk in town are particulalry pleased with their mayor, but no one ever seems to run against him. Sheriff’s Department & Perdition Jailhouse - Sheriff’s office, a small dispatch office, and a few jail cells for penning any rowdy drunks from the Widowmaker. Red Rock Elementary School - Pre-k - grade 6 Perdition High School - Grades 7 - 12, home of the Fighting Mules! Pike’s Food & Drug - The only grocer & pharmacy in town, owned by the Pike family, six-generation Perdition locals. It’s a snapshot in time, especially the functioning-and-fully-stocked cigarette vending machine and the soda fountain that’s still in service. Golden Oasis Casino - With the promise of a major highway to connect Perdition to the rest of the world, eager investors saw dollar signs and poured piles of money into a brand new casino in 1952. When the highway development fell through and the money dried up, it decayed into what it is today: a place for locals to pull the creaky levers on old penny slots and ignore the indoor smoking ban. Silver Strike Diner - While its silvery accents and vinyl booths are dinged and sunbleached, the food is just as good as when the Silver Strike opened in 1950. Cheap, greasy, open 24/7. The jukebox hasn’t worked since 2002. The Widowmaker - This saloon, built in 1902 and originally named The Silver Dollar Saloon, stands right on the edge of Rebel Creek and decent society. It’s an utter dive: dark, dingy, cheap, and rowdy. Look out for bar fights and pickpockets. Sandman Motel - Its peeling-paint neon sign can be seen from the highway, a symbol of bygone days (and missing the ‘T’ on one side). You have to be pretty desperate to stay here; all-sorts roll in off the highway to rent out these rooms. Last Chance Gas - Local gas station open 24/7 selling cold beer, cigarettes, essentials, and lotto tickets. It’s the ‘last chance for gas’ for the next 100 miles down America’s Loneliest Highway.
OUTER PERDITION & SURROUNDING WILDERNESS
Professor Chromium’s Monster Museum & Creature Feature! - Just off Highway 50! Come, be amazed! Mysterious creatures great and small from the world over; creatures as you’ve never seen! In the time-honored tradition of now-defunct circus freak shows, Professor Chromium’s Monster Museum is a sprawling old warehouse made into a maze of clever taxidermy, creative Frankensteining of stuffed creatures, jars of mysterious claws and limbs. Locals serve as tour guides for tourists and cashiers at the wildly overpriced gift shop stuffed with kitschy souvenirs. Some even say a few of the creatures are genuine horrors, but who would believe them? Perot Mine - There’s a saying around town, and it’s ‘all the money in Perdition comes from Perot’. The mine opened for operation in 1902 when prospectors were hunting for new veins as the mine in Delamar had been providing dwindling returns for a few years before the fire ravaged the town in 1900. William Perot founded the mine and the town of Perdition sprung up nearby. All of high society in Perdition is related to, or married to, a Perot. It employs a huge portion of the Perdition population, but its returns are now dwindling, too. Quarter after quarter, less and less gold and silver ore has been hauled out of Perot. There are whispers of lay-offs on the horizon and even the upper crust of Perdition is starting to get nervous. Perdition Uranium Mine & Mill - from 1951 to 1968, a uranium mining boom swept across America. Spurred by the Atomic Energy Commission and the Cold War, Nevada was a focal point for substantial uranium prospecting and mining. Just outside Perdition, a uranium mine and mill cropped up, employing hundreds of locals and bringing an additional economic boom to the small town in addition to the long-standing gold mine. It was shuttered in 1972, boarded up, and now stands as an ugly relic littered with radioactive warning signs all along the perimeter. Curious teenagers have gone missing inside, and sometimes strange noises can be heard across the flat desert from within its neglected depths. The ATLAS Compound - In 2015, after a flurry of federally funded construction activity behind high chain link fence, a collection of bureaucratic government buildings cropped up like a deposit of hard, shiny minerals along the horizon just outside of town, near the old Perdition Uranium Mine and Milling site. Its perimeter is gated and the gatehouse is always manned by armed guards. This government compound includes a huge lab, offices, and a medical wing. Officially, it is designated as an arm of the Department of the Interior. Delamar - A ghost town dubbed ‘The Widow-maker’ due to deadly dry milling techniques that killed dozens and dozens of the men who worked at the Delamar mine. Established in 1891, the mine operated lucratively until 1900 when nearly the entire city burned to the ground. After a difficult recovery, the mine closed in 1909 and by 1914 the town was abandoned. Nothing but the skeleton of old buildings and lingering ghosts remain in Delamar. Big Rock Wilderness - Fully encompassing the southernmost portion of the South Pahroc Range, this gorgeous national park includes steep and jagged mountains, canyons and an expansive field of large, jumbled boulders loved by rock climbers all over the state. Recreational opportunities include climbing, camping, hiking, horseback riding and hunting.

i’ve neglected this blog, i’m sorry. i want to do things because i truly want to, not because i’m forced to. it was getting to that point where i felt obligated to record my travels and thoughts, so i stopped blogging completely.
even though i felt that way, i don’t want to forget the things i’ve done. as the name suggests, this is my own personal diary that i can showcase to the world. or, for those who are willing to see.
i still have yet to decide whether or not i want to continue and pick up where i’ve left off, but it seems like a lot to catch up on. so, here’s a list of exciting things (some milestones, too) i’ve done since the last time i’ve blogged:
2018年
8月:spent one week in taiwan with a couple friends, then spent 9 days in the philippines with some family members. ended the month staying in tokyo for work and visited the ghibli museum for the first time.
9月:started off september exploring tokyo a bit with friends since i stayed the weekend for work anyways. finally had my first experience at tsukiji market before its relocation to toyosu. tried dominique ansel bakery in harajuku and got to try their viral desserts (watermelon soft serve & a marshmallow s’more). also went to zauo, a fishing restaurant, for the first time. during week 2, went to yokohama to meet with a few friends. visited the cup noodle museum and the creepy, cyberpunk arcade called “your warehouse” in kawasaki. also hit up hawaiian town in yokohama for malasadas and ice cream.
10月:purchased a brand new fujifilm x100f camera. stayed at “henna hotel” meaning “weird/strange hotel” with robots as front-desk staff. visited disneysea in time for their halloween theme: “villains world”. experienced halloween night in shibuya with some friends. had the day off the next day to recover.
11月:spent the day off visiting teamlab borderless for the first time with a friend. also stayed at 9 hours capsule hotel the night before. went to a curry festival in the town that i live in with a few other teachers. spent a day in tokyo shopping for clothing items to wear to my next event. used my pto at the end of the month to visit new zealand to see childish gambino’s “PHAROS”. i went alone. had a layover in beijing. i got my second tattoo, met some new people off the donald glover subreddit, did some karaoke with them, and even met up for some brunch the next morning. visited hobbiton and toured the glow worm caves. had the best korean chicken in my life for dinner downtown. got to experience gambino live, 10 ft away, in a giant VR dome. felt like my life changed after that. arrived at the airport the following morning only to get fucked over by air china. had to stay in new zealand one more night with a stranger before throwing in the towel and booking an expensive one-way flight from NZ to Tokyo through fiji airlines. layover was nice and chill after going through hell with air china.
12月:started off december taking the JLPT test in mito. spent week 2 at teamlab planets with an old friend. stayed at a book hostel and fell in love with it. mid-December: spent the holidays back home in las vegas and got another tattoo on my back. a spine tattoo - the only one that caused pain so far. got the chance to see a lot of places that opened up since i moved and caught up with family and friends.
2019年
1月:visited dallas to see my brother and cousins for 3 days. went to the dallas zoo and got tattoo #4. returned to work the second week of January. stayed at 9 hours capsule hotel again but in asakusa before meeting up with a friend to show them around for a day. January was full of pizza delivery orders because i was missing home a lot. however, i spent a lot of time and energy into decorating my apartment this month too, so i discovered my interest in home design.
2月:spent valentine’s day weekend in yamanashi prefecture at a friend’s place. we went skiing at a resort near mt fuji. we rented a car and i drove us around the whole weekend. this was a big accomplishment for me. we also explored the small town my friend lived in and went to a quaint forest village. i retook my driver’s license test and passed. now i have both an american and a japanese driver’s license. i also renewed my visa and contract to stay in japan for a second year during this month.
3月:a new era in japan started - the “Reiwa” period of peace and harmony. the school year also starts and ends in March in time for the sakura blooming. i started March off near yokosuka for strawberry picking and meeting up with an old friend for dinner. i turned 25 midway through the month. then, a few friends visited and we went to disneysea and rented kimonos to try. i tried my second book hostel location, but favored the first one. i visited teamleab planets for the second time. i also cut off 7 inches of hair. then i ended march with my family members visiting me for a week.
4月:my family and i spent a majority of our spring break in tokyo, but we also visited kyoto and osaka. their visit marked my second time at teamlab borderless. we interacted with some deer at nara park. i took them to the ghibli museum. i treated my brother out to a day in akihabara while my parents adventured some small bars near our airbnb. then, we said our goodbyes at the airport during the first weekend of April. i started the new school year shortly afterward with a slight change in my role. i also had to say goodbye to a friend at her farewell party in April before she moved back to america.
5月:the last couple days of April and the first week of May embarked my golden week trip exploring japan yet again. a friend stayed at my apartment for a couple nights. we visited hitachi seaside park for the second time together, went to wanwanland (dog amusement park) in tsukuba, and spent some time in my town before spending a few days in tokyo. we also went to a flower festival near mt fuji very shortly, as traffic was a huge obstacle during this vacation week. we also explored saitama a little bit, since i was considering relocating there. i ended golden week exploring a studio ghibli exhibit at kanda myojin shrine. mid-May, an old friend visited, so we watched detective pikachu and i got to show him the capsule hotel experience as well. the week after, another group of friends visited so we went to teamlab borderless, marking my third time at that location and fifth time overall at a teamlab museum. i really need a stamp card or membership with them at this point.
6月:since i had done a lot of traveling and spent way too much money the past few months, i holed myself up in my apartment to save some money and try to do some self care. got into my own head a lot. experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. now that the rush of things were finally settling, i was and currently am coping with what i know and what i want.
7月:a lot of self-transformation took place recently. some unexpected things happened as well. things seemingly fell off course for a bit. but i’m working towards making a better version of myself this very moment.

The Arnold Sports Festival 2019
Hey guys! Here we are wrapping up week 4 of the F-45 Global Challenge!
I am currently sitting in the airport in Columbus, Ohio waiting to get back to Las Vegas. I have been in Ohio since Tuesday afternoon working with my fit fam, Gorilla Wear at the Arnold Sports Expo. While it was an absolute blast, I am more than ready to get back to my little doodle man (and of course my main man).
Tuesday began with meeting up with the team to get settled into our hotel. They originally had us an apartment rented for the week so we could all hang out together, but we were informed Monday morning that the apartment had an unexpected pipe burst, so we were relocated to the Hilton, downtown. The Hilton is one of the host hotels for the Expo so it actually worked out pretty well. The main thing that had us all a little aggravated was the fact we no longer had a kitchen to meal prep, which left us eating out every. single. meal. The breakfast buffet was actually re-vamped to cater toward the Arnold and competitors so there was plenty of variety: eggs, egg whites, boiled eggs, steel cut oats, greek yogurt, fresh fruit, nuts, potatoes, and grilled veggies. We began every morning with a group meet up at the buffet before heading to the venue. During the day we were all so busy that we didn't have time to think about food. We kept a cooler on hand jam packed with fruit, protein bars, sandwiches and protein drinks for those quick few minutes throughout the day that we could squeeze something in, but for the most part we saved our feast for the evening. We ended up eating at the same restaurant every evening (with the exception of one night). The restaurant was literally right next door to the venue, so it was perfect for our raging late night appetites. The menu was pretty limited for a vegetarian diet, but they did have a veggie burger that was pretty scrumptious. This ended up being my go-to four out of the five days. While yes, it was good, almost anything after a ten hour day would have sufficed. I will say however, they had a Scottish Ale that surpassed just about any beer that I have ever had. By evening two, everyone at our table had tried it and made it part of their regular order. Is beer considered acceptable on the challenge menu?! Um, no. No, it is not. But after an eight to ten hour fast each and every day and working my booty to the bone, I drank that beer along with my black bean burger without a single trace of guilt.
Expo days are insane, intense, exhausting and motivating all at the same time. It is so inspiring to be surrounded by like-minded individuals that share the same passions and desires. We had several Gorilla Wear athletes that made appearances: Erko Jun, Felice Herrig, and William Bonac .
While they all three were super warm and welcoming to everyone that came to the meet ups, Erko, has a presence that cannot be dismissed. He is an extremely funny guy, and after a couple of days I have to say that I am a total Erko Jun fan!
I got to meet a handful of people that I had only interacted with through social media. Meeting Jordan Edwards was a huge highlight for me this weekend. I have followed her for the last couple of years and always flip to her instagram when needing a good ab workout. I was walking from the restroom back to our booth and recognized her and her boyfriend, Steve walking towards my direction. I went up and introduced myself, and she just wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me big. She was (genuinely) so sweet. We spoke briefly about the industry, and of course had to grab a quick pic to document my fan-girl moment.
I met the hilarious Jen Heward, aka @hunnybunsfit while roaming around and while we did get a selfie, her eyes were closed and I looked a mess after a 10 hour day, so we'll just leave that one in the mysterious iCloud. I caught glimpses of several influencers that I admire and just being in the same venue sharing the same passions is enough for me. I didn't have time (nor the patience) to stand in line to meet anyone.
I mentioned at the beginning of this post that I am sitting in the CHM airport. I have to share with you all that I am sitting in the general food court and Jessica Arevalo is sitting to the right of me, and Bradley Martyn to my left. So on that note, I am going to hit pause on this entry, perhaps go say hello, make my way to my gate, and I will pick back up with you guys once back in Vegas.
Fast forward another week and here we are....Let's catch up! I made it back to Vegas this past Monday night around midnight, and had to be up at 5am to coach a couple of early classes Tuesday morning.
Luckily I was off Wednesday because I began feeling like total poop! The last time I flew (which was the last time I went to Bama to visit family), was the last time I got sick. All of the recirculated germy air is absolutely repulsive to think about, so I always double up on the vitamins and nutrients before flying. I did great with my micronutrient intake before flying out, but working long hours at the expo and minimal rest, I fell victim to the reclaimed plane pathogens (blah, so disgusting). Anyways, so now that I have been back almost a week, walks with Jack have been my only form of cardio.
It's now Sunday morning and I am finishing coffee number two with hopes that I will muster up some sort of energy to head into the garage for a shoulder workout. If not a lifting session, at least some yoga to get the blood flowing.
Needless to say that, week five of the F45 Challenge has not been so great, but here's to week six!

Turn off the electricity in the kitchen at the breaker box. Put a piece of tape over the breakers so no one turns them on by mistake while you’re working. You don’t want to get electrocuted. 2. Turn off the water. You can do this below the kitchen sink. 3. Turn off the gas. If you have gas appliances, turn them off at the valve that’s usually behind the appliance. To get to the valve, pull the appliance out carefully so you won’t yank the hose out of the valve. 4. Rent a dolly for moving the heaviest appliances. You can rent one at most home improvement center or equipment rental centers. 5. Throw a drop cloth over the floor. This will prevent scratches and other damage. If you are ripping out the floor, too, don’t worry about it. 6. Call Las Vegas Hauling Junk & Moving for debris removal service. Now you’re ready to begin removing the old kitchen, piece by piece. Remove the Old Kitchen 1. Garbage disposal: Use channel lock pliers to loosen the compression nut on the garbage disposal. Once you do this and remove the retaining ring, the disposal unit will fall off. Have someone there ready to catch it. 2. Sink: Use a utility knife to cut the silicone bead on the edges of the sink holding it to the counter. Use a pry bar and a hammer to lift it out. Place pieces of 2 x 4 wood under the edges of the sink as you loosen it. Then lift it out. 3. Cabinets: Empty everything out. Remove the doors and drawers. If you are going to reuse them in another part of the house or donate them to charity or thrift store, label each door and drawer so they can be reassembled. Tape the screws to the hinges. Use a pry bar to take the cabinets off the wall 4. Countertops and backsplashes: Use a pry bar to remove the countertops and tiles from a backsplash. You can also use a saw to cut the countertop off in chunks. 5. Dishwasher. Follow these steps: Remove the front cover from the bottom of the dishwasher to expose the wiring. Use a voltage meter to test the wires at the dishwasher to ensure the power is still off. Remove the electrical box from the unit. Unscrew the wire nuts and pull apart the wires. Start with the green wires, white and then black. Disconnect the drain line from the dishwasher and the water supply line from the dedicated dishwasher stop. Open the door to the dishwasher, then remove the screws secured to the underside of the countertop. Raise the legs using a wrench. Slowly pull out the dishwasher ensuring the wires are out of the way. Also, the drain line should come out with the dishwasher from under the sink.
