Escape into a World of Wonders: Besieged Teaser, Haunted Castles, Sizzling Audiobooks, Adventurous Stories, and Free Beach Reads!
Hello, my Freaky Darlings! Greetings from the frozen arse end of Africa. It’s been an interesting and distracting week. Like millions of people across the globe who have gone searching for a refuge from the hate-filled vitriolic world of Twitter (apparently, being a Twitter refugee is a thing), I’ve found a surprising haven in the arms of Threads. The whole atmosphere is light and fluffy and just…

Dunedin
Dunedin from the Otago Peninsula The trip from Te Anau to Dunedin took us over the Canterbury plains and New Zealand’s rich pastoral country. It’s not a long drive, with a brief stop for coffee somewhere, and we arrived in Dunedin around lunch time. Dunedin is a pretty little town where you’re either going up or you’re coming down. It’s probably the most Scottishest town outside Scotland and it…

Some of the more environment-focused scenes I drew for Reinaeiry's Take Me To Church but it's EPIC video!
Here's a link to the animatic! And if you haven't already go check out her music asap
Some notes about my artistic inspiration under the cut:
It was so much fun to dive a bit deeper into the details of Gideon the Ninth and try to make the environments come to life, especially Canaan House. For Canaan, I specifically took a lot of inspo from Neo-Gothic/Gothic-Revival architecture, including Larnach Castle in New Zealand! (The girls are Maori!! And Nona the Ninth shaped my visualization of the first house tons) occasionally some elements were an artistic battle of balance between description and visual tone (overgrown disrepaired gold-shot marble rainbow tile mosaic wood floors, anyone?) but nearly everything I was using as inspo fit so perfectly into my mental image/what I was trying to achieve and I couldnt be happier with the way some of these turned out. For Drearburh I very loosely combined a gothic cathedral with an ossuary and then Pluto-ified the color scheme!
I especially love this scene:
It set the tone for how the rest of the animatic was gonna be colored and it fit my mental image of canaan house vibes so perfectly
Overall I put a lot of love into including as many canon environmental details as I possibly could, and taking meaningful creative liberty where there were gaps in Muir's descriptions. Some parts involved a little logistic puzzling but I'm ngl I love the challenge of translating textual desc to artwork. Working on this was such a treat
#MORE STILLS AND DETAILS TO COME BTW!#just gotta figure out the best way to share everything#I am never gonna shut up about this...#my art#the locked tomb#animatics#canaan house#gideon the ninth

I desperately want to visit these two places #takemethere ❤️
Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting. #placesinthesouthIsland #NewZealand #TajMahal Which home are we talking about ? If it’s at my New Zealand home, then it’d be Larnach Castle in Dunedin. I so want to visit that place, but I’ve always put it off giving some excuse or another. If it’s at my Indian Residence, then it’d indefinitely be the Taj…
