Myomectomy Surgery at PACE Hospitals: Preserving Your Fertility
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that can cause a number of problems, including heavy periods, pelvic pain, and difficulty getting pregnant. If you've been diagnosed with fibroids and want to preserve your uterus, a myomectomy may be the right option for you.
PACE Hospitals is a leading provider of myomectomy surgery in Hyderabad. Our team of experienced gynecologists is skilled in performing all types of myomectomy, including:
Tumblr media
Laparoscopic Myomectomy: This minimally invasive procedure involves making a few small incisions in the abdomen and using a laparoscope (a thin, lighted instrument) to visualize and remove the fibroids.
Robotic Myomectomy: Similar to laparoscopic myomectomy, but utilizes robotic arms for enhanced precision and control.
Hysteroscopic Myomectomy: Performed for submucosal fibroids (projecting into the uterine cavity) using a hysteroscope inserted through the cervix.
What is Myomectomy and its purpose?
Uterine myomectomy is a gynaecological surgery to remove uterine fibroids (leiomyomas) while preserving the uterus. Uterine fibroids are the most prevalent benign tumour (common non-cancerous growths) in the female, it usually develops during reproductive years, but they can occur at any age.
Uterine fibroids or leiomyomata exert a considerable impact on women in reproductive age, resulting in heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), pelvic pain or pressure, and poor reproductive outcomes. Nevertheless, there are a considerable number of asymptomatic women across the globe (in whom symptoms do not manifest).
Although hysterectomy (surgical removal of partial or entire uterus) is usually the preferred surgical procedure for uterine fibroids, uterine myomectomy is the best surgical choice while leaving the uterus intact for women who want to retain their fertility.
What are the Indications of Myomectomy surgery?
Some women (usually women without biological children) with uterine fibroids choose myomectomy over hysterectomy to improve fertility or preserving their uterus when no other obvious cause for subfertility (reduced fertility characterised by prolonged periods of unwanted non-conception) is present.
Myomectomy can be performed by three different techniques such as open, laparoscopic or robotic, making it an excellent choice for future fertility in women. The following are some indications of myomectomy surgery:
Menometrorrhagia (when menstrual bleeding occurs outside the monthly cycle or extremely heavy and/or prolonged periods) result in anemia
Pelvic pain and pressure
Chronic pain in lower abdominal area, pelvic pressure and discomfort with large size uterine myoma seen in ultrasound
Uterine myomas or fibroids that are abdominally palpable
Enlarging fibroids with the possibility of malignancy (cancer)
Ureteral obstruction
Gestational size greater than 12 weeks and inability to evaluate adnexa (gynaecological organs around the uterus, - ovaries, fallopian tubes and neighbouring connective tissues)
Benefits of Myomectomy at PACE Hospitals:
Preserves fertility: Myomectomy allows you to conceive naturally after surgery.
Minimally invasive procedures: Laparoscopic and robotic myomectomy offer faster recovery times, less pain, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery.
Advanced technology: PACE Hospitals is equipped with state-of-the-art AI Robotic Surgery systems and advanced laparoscopic equipment for optimal surgical outcomes.
Experienced team: Our team of gynecologists and surgeons are highly skilled in performing complex myomectomy procedures.

Surprise!!
Had a wild journey of:
Doing a laproscopic myomectomy- aka cut out my fibroids - that turned into a abdominal myomectomy (aka looks like a c section) because the fibroids were SO bad that the:
1 total fibroids were bigger than my whole uterus
2 the biggest one was on my uterus like a fucking hat so apparently I was at risk for a hysterectomy and so massive repairs were needed on my uterus wall
3 extra fun bonus surprise of tons of massive endo lesions bc why not!!

Will laparoscopic myomectomy affect fertility?
Tumblr media
Laparoscopic myomectomy aims to preserve fertility by removing uterine fibroids while keeping the uterus intact. Here are key points:
1-Preserving the Uterus: Laparoscopic myomectomy maintains fertility by removing fibroids but leaving the uterus unharmed.
2-Impact on Fertility: The size, number, and location of fibroids influence fertility. Submucosal fibroids within the uterine cavity may impact fertility more significantly.
3-Improvement in Fertility: For those with fertility issues due to fibroids, laparoscopic myomectomy can enhance fertility by addressing fibroid-related obstructions.
4-Individual Variation: Fertility outcomes vary. Some may conceive successfully after the procedure, while others may face challenges.
5-Postoperative Monitoring: Regular follow-ups are crucial to assess the uterus and address fertility concerns promptly.
6-Timing of Pregnancy Attempts: A waiting period post-surgery may be advised before attempting pregnancy to ensure proper healing.
7-Consideration of Factors: Other factors like age and overall reproductive health also influence fertility and should be considered.
8-Alternative Treatments: Fertility specialists may explore alternative treatments if challenges persist after laparoscopic myomectomy.
It's crucial for individuals considering laparoscopic myomectomy for fertility preservation to have open discussions with their healthcare providers. A thorough evaluation of individual circumstances, including the specific characteristics of the fibroids and the woman's overall reproductive health, will guide the decision-making process.
If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult with Dr. Neha Lalla – Best Indian Gynaecologist in Dubai or you can contact us on 97142122599.

Myomectomy and Fertility: how the procedure can affect your chances of conceiving
Fibroid uterus is a common condition in women of childbearing age and can cause a variety of symptoms, including infertility. Myomectomy is a surgical procedure that can effectively treat uterine fibroids while preserving a woman's fertility. In this article, we explore how myomectomy can improve fertility and increase the chances of pregnancy.
Understanding Fibroids and Infertility
Fibroids are benign tumors that develop in the uterus. Although they are usually non-cancerous, they can cause serious discomfort and complications, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and infertility.
When fibroids grow in the uterus, they can interfere with the implantation of a fertilized egg, making it difficult for a woman to conceive.
What is myomectomy?
It is a surgical procedure that removes fibroids from the uterus while leaving the uterus intact. The goal of myomectomy is to relieve symptoms associated with fibroids, including infertility, without removing the entire uterus.
How myomectomy can improve fertility
Laparoscopic myomectomy can improve fertility by removing fibroids that block the fallopian tubes or interfere with the implantation of a fertilized egg.
By removing the fibroids, the uterus can return to its normal size and shape, increasing the chances of conception.
Success Rates
Studies have shown that myomectomy can significantly improve fertility in women with fibroid uterus. Success rates depend on several factors, such as the size, number, and location of the fibroids, as well as the woman's age and general health. For example, one study found that 68% of women who had myomectomy for infertility were able to conceive after the procedure. Another study reported a 77% pregnancy rate in women who had myomectomy for submucosal fibroids (fibroids located in the uterine cavity).
It is important to note that Laparoscopic myomectomy does not guarantee pregnancy and success rates may vary depending on individual circumstances. However, for many women with fibroid uterus who suffer from infertility, it may be an effective treatment option that improves their chances of conceiving.
Conclusion
In conclusion, myomectomy is an effective treatment option for women with uterine fibroids and infertility. It can increase the chances of conception and improve fertility by removing fibroids that block the fallopian tubes or interfere with the implantation of a fertilized egg. If you are considering a myomectomy, it is important to see a qualified specialist who can provide individualized care and support.
If you’re considering Laparoscopic myomectomy for uterine fibroids and related infertility, it's important to choose a qualified specialist who can provide individualized care and support. Dr. Shikha's clinic is an excellent choice for women seeking treatment for fibroids and infertility.
Dr. Shikha Sardana is an experienced gynecologist and fertility specialist who has successfully treated countless patients with fibroid uterus and related infertility.
