What does it say about me that before re-reading the series, this one was the only cover of Lanfeust that I still had a clear memory of 💀
#Currently reading#Lanfeust de Troy#Also re-reading the series for the first time since I was like 12 sure is a ride#Went from 'this has aged about as badly as I expected'#To 'wait was this a parody all along? Is it dumb and over the top on purpose and it just flew over my head when I read it as a kid?'

It's my time to make a Melusine propagandaand so, I decided to remind the voters of that one time when she was fascinated by a beautiful bard and she grew her hair long so he could climb the tower and reach her window.
I mean Mélusine is a witch, she can do whatever she wants with her hair.
Best of BDs: Hair Round 1-29
Reminder: This contest is about their HAIRSTYLES
#Mélusine#lanfeust de troy#best of bds contest#it's a melusine themed blog of course i would vote for melusine

I got tagged by a coool muffaloglugga named @eugenoid so I’m gonna try and do one of these here tag game things:
The rule is to name your favorite movie, character, animal, drink, song, season, book, color and hobby.
But since superlatives are a nightmare I’m just gonna name some of the ones that consistently float about my noggin.
Movies:
Prince of Egypt, How to train your dragon 2, cars 2 (for ironic reasons) Casablanca, Brazil, the big sleep, asterix and obelix in Egypt (animated and dubbed in Danish) the two good marvel movies.
Characters:
Well right recently I’ve been rotating T’lynn from lower decks around in my head a lot, also Ransom from the same show. Hellboy is also a big personal fave, and Asterios Polyp, Cuno, Kaiji and Akagi from their respective fukumotos mangas, Yossarian and Major Major were also phenomenal characters. Rufus from deponia.
Animals:
My dog, sloths, koalas, wildebeests look pretty wild, rhinos,
Drinks:
Good coffee, cola, water from Tisvildeleje, orange juice, rum and coke, bad coffee, tubing classic.
Songs:
Crime of the century (full album)
Artificial heart (full album)
Efter endnu en dag (full album)
Alt hvad hun ville var at danse
Police bells and church sirens
Last train to London
Il fiume inondo
The platform + and the stone said: if I could speak
Season:
Big fan of autumn actually, the rains a bit inconvenient but it’s almost cold enough to not be too warm and warm enough to not be too cold.
Also like spring for similar reasons, buts it’s usually a lot more stressful.
Books: I wish I read more but I can say I throughly have enjoyed catch-22, the shame series, gurneys works on art theory, I recently started reading the clan of the cave bear and it’s proving pretty fun.
Now I’m just also gonna list some comics cuz those are something I actually have read a few of: Hellboy, especially Hellboy in hell. Asterios polyp, the Lanfeust series but especially “of the stars”, Mangecour or hjærtedræber as it was called in danish, Order of the stick (if you like DnD and homestuck (especially How worst homestuck is) you oughta check This), stand still stay silent (rereading the prologue during lockdown was a real headfuck) also Scott’s works on comic book theory (understanding comics, making comics, reinventing comics) especially the first one it’s basically a necessity to really get what makes comics great.
Colors:
I’m quite keen of the various shades of green and blue, pinks and magentas are also cool.
Hobbies:
I fucking love mini painting and miniatures in general, when I finally get around to doing it, aside from that there’s also being a kinky dingus and playing music with other people.
Now I’m supposed to tag some other folks so
@someone-you-do-not-know @iridikron @2allthedancersoftheworld
Do it if you’re on a train to work and don’t have nothing better to do, or if you wanna.

do you know the old cartoon about lanfeust quest?
In the Polish dubbed version, Thanos calls Lanfeust "Synuś" ((in Polish it means son)). But I wonder how in other countries Thanos calls Lanfeust in other dubbed versions

The Lanfeust de Troy comics had a world in which a large percentage of the population has psychic powers, but it manifests differently depending on the culture.
In the land of Eckmüll where the story is set, every person has a single superpower that becomes active whenever a Mage is nearby. That power can be anything from “can make people thirsty at will” to to “can walk on water” to “can teleport anywhere, but without his clothes”. Mages, in an inversion, are people who underwent a ritual to inhibit their own power in order to become an activator for other people’s powers.
The Baronnies have a much higher percentage of non-psychic people than usual, so their culture has developed to be extremely hostile to supernatural powers. As a result, even people from the Baronnies who could develop powers, instinctively don’t.
The continent of Darshan has just as much psychic energy as Eckmüll, but instead of developing individual powers, the people have subconsciously pooled their psychic energy and used it to spawn a pantheon of living gods. Each individual god needs to have believers to actually exist, which can be tragic for minor gods such as the gods of specific musical genres, but is usually not a problem for major gods such as the Goddess of sexual pleasure and the God of burning your mouth with hot tea.
Story idea that I still think would be funny:
A world where like 1% of the population is randomly born with some sort of superhuman or supernatural powers, but every culture forms their own, wholly different ideas about the concept. Americans have their superhero thing with costumes and code names, and are genuinely shocked that nobody else does that. The japanese language already has a whole classification system for different 'types' of superpowers, and also a specific term for an individual whose power cannot be fit into any specific class. This information is written onto on one's passport.
The french have no set vocabulary for any of this, and the same expressions are used for saying that someone is delightful company to be around, or talented in an art form or musical instrument, and to describe a person who can control electricity with their mind or turn any metal into a liquid. It depends on context clues and the tone of one's voice.
And somewhere in rural Georgia there is a guy who could just pick up a truck and throw it on the opposite side of a lake. The locals of his home region know that they can always come to Nikoloz if there's a cow or a piece of farm equipment stuck somewhere that cannot be moved by human strength alone. He'll help, and then go back home to feed his chickens. He could do a lot more with this power, but he doesn't want to, and if you suggest this to him, he will yeet you as well.
