The Masked Singer: S10 E2 (NFL Night) Running Commentary

Group A returns tonight with a wildcard Mask joining the competition. As always I post before seeing any unmaskings, so don’t consider these spoilers. (I am watching and posting on a delay.)

Cow 🐮: Grew up in a house of all women, boxing gloves with a golden arrow pointing down, and three calves (meaning he has children). The bonus clue: a pair of tap shoes, he says he’s known for his “killer moves”, and then did a spin. The sound of his voice sounded a little more familiar this week, and with his dance moves, I’m kind of leaning towards Ne-Yo, but I am not yet sold on it.

Diver 🤿: A pair of red high heels 👠, and reiterated that he became famous because he was someone people loved to hate. The bonus clue: a “super fan” with a club ♣️ painted on his chest. He says he’s “well-suited for the club”. I’m still thinking Nick Viall from The Bachelor and its related shows, but a lot of people on social media were going with Ken Jeong’s guess, Tom Sandoval. (I’ve never watched Vanderpump Rules or much of anything related to the Real Housewives shows, so I’m not familiar with him.)

Gazelle 🦌: Was pressured to change her name when she was younger. A test with an “A” grade on it. A sign reading “Threat Level: 3” (as in a “Triple Threat” who can sing, dance, and act) and a surfboard (possibly a Teen Choice Award winner). The bonus clue: a football reading “Villain”. She has apparently played a villain in a project. “A” is the name of the primary antagonist in Pretty Little Liars. So I’m thinking this may be Lucy Hale, although the social media buzz seemed to suggest Janel Parrish, which would fit in with the Hawaii clues (as she’s originally from Hawaii).

S’more 🍫: A cauldron, a TV with a letter M. Got his chance at a big break while he was in high school. A game controller. The bonus clue: An orange (he’s tasted victory before, and it possibly references Florida). I’m still getting the vibe that this is a boy band alum. I don’t think it’s Lance Bass, the voice is too high in range. If it’s a Backstreet Boy, I would think that this would be Kevin Richardson. Three major boy bands got their start in Orlando, Florida: Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and O-Town. We’ve had one Backstreet Boy (Nick Carter), two NSYNC members (Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick), and no members of O-Town (whose creation was documented on an MTV series called Making the Band). Vocally, I’d think if it was someone from O-Town, it’d either be Ashley Parker Angel or Dan Miller. But I’m also not ruling out Kevin Richardson, as a lot of the clues seem to point to him.

Pickle 🥒: Joker card, microphone, pictures of Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Martin Short. His teachers thought he wouldn’t amount to anything. He might be a comedian, and the microphone looked like something you’d see a podcaster use. Just from the sound of his voice I’m thinking Michael Rapaport. The bonus clue: a grill with an “On Air” sign in it. I’m sticking with Michael Rapaport, as he’s well known for being outspoken and opinionated in addition to his career as a comedian and actor.

En face d'eux, la directrice, son front plissé par une multitude de cassures de vieillesse. Le jeune homme lève un sourcil, hautain, alors que la jeune fille se contente de la défier du regard, insolente.      Il ne parle pas. Elle ne parle pas. La vieille les toise avec sévérité, ses yeux flamboyant de colère. Il s'apprête à se racler la gorge, à déballer l'un de ses discours tout préparés relatant le mauvais impact qu'une telle façon d'agir pourrait avoir sur des adolescents de leur âge, plaider son innocence, se foutre de la gueule de la vieille et narguer Parrish en ayant la pire sanction. Mais la vieille est plus rapide, elle ne lui laisse pas le temps d'ouvrir la bouche. Sans doute par manque de patience, peut-être parce qu'elle est pressée, elle leur lance ce sort qui les rend muet. Le regard furibond des deux élèves semble lui suffire pour comprendre de quelle façon ils pensent.      Et elle gronde, fait la morale, crie de temps en temps. Quel manque de maturité, quelle honte pour Poudlard ! Logan s'en fiche, il a juste envie de lui dire de se faire voir. Ses yeux bleu iceberg lui lancent des éclairs noirs, et il se détourne obstinément d'elle. Sans le faire exprès, il se tourne vers la fille, et il sent sa poitrine s'embraser d'un feu invisible. Son nez aquilin, sa peau pâle, ses cheveux bruns et bouclés. Parrish. À chaque fois que son regard se pose sur elle, il sent une montée de chaleur venir en lui. Son esprit devient plus froid, plus clair, plus limpide, et sa soif de compétition saute de plusieurs crans.      Parrish et Dawn, Dawn et Parrish, c'est toujours la même rengaine entre eux depuis leur cinquième année. L'un bâtard, l'autre connasse, les deux enculés. Question de popularité, de bêtises, de connerie, de « qui a la plus grosse » ? Une compétition constante de farces, fêtes, alcool et autres merdes de ce genre-là, pas toujours candides, très souvent illégales. Ils se battent, se disputent, s'affrontent tous les jours, toutes les heures, tout le temps. L'un s'est pris une heure de colle par Becker ? Bien, pas de problème ! L'autre se débrouille pour s'en prendre huit avec Card. Le chat et la souris, la souris et le chat, ils sont deux enfants qui refusent de grandir, et attendent de voir lequel d'eux deux cédera en premier. Un chronomètre, un tableau des scores, des points et des points à prendre. Parrish et Dawn, les deux timbrés de seize ans qui se courent après depuis des années. Qui va perdre, qui va gagner ?     Elle est insolente, lui hautain. Gryffondor et Serpentard, fille et garçon, pâle et hâlé, connasse et bâtard. Deux opposés qui veulent tous les deux la même chose, rester jeune et inconscient pour toujours. Ils font le bazar, ils se noient dans les problèmes, et le monde autour d'eux ne voit que des gamins qui ont envie de s'éclater. Mais c'est ça au fond, non ? Ils ne sont que des gamins qui veulent s'éclater en foutant le bordel, en goûtant l'interdit, en détruisant leur avenir. À bas l'avenir, crient-ils, et il ne resterait que leur jeunesse, leur insouciante jeunesse ! C'est la solution, la seule solution.

Unless if ofc we're talking platonically. Cause platonic Scydia my BELOVED. I also love her relationships with both Kira and Malia ("You're a badass sword wielding Kitsune. Who wouldn't like you?"). And her friendships with Liam and Mason.

3. What my favorite scene or scenes of them were

Her Season 5 opening scene. Just God that was so cool. She went all Black Canary and would've broken out of of Arkham Eichen, if it weren't for the hallucination. The only thing I didn't like was her screen vfx.

4. my favorite season of them(If they’re in multiple) 

Season 5. We're in that sweet spot where she's found her way as a banshee and before her story becomes about Stiles. Truly the only thing I despise was the whole Parrish deal. But I choose to retcon it with the show's explanation of psychic attraction and deciding to erase any and all sexual scenes from my brain.
