Milex/TLSP/AM Fic Recs 💖

I was inspired by @puzzlebeanficrecs' recent posts to share some of my all-time favourite fics in this wonderful fandom. This is by no means an exhaustive list as the sheer number of amazing works I've read by incredible writers over the past couple of years is too many to count, but here are some fics that I keep going back to time and time again 🥰

1) Somewhere Darker by @elorianna

Alex hasn't slept properly for weeks. His days are plagued with writer's block, and his nights are haunted by strange and frightening dreams. Progress on the second Puppets album has all but ground to a halt.

Miles is haunted too, by the nights that he and Alex have shared, and the boundaries that they've crossed. Now, he's caught in a game of pretence which neither one of them seems destined to win.

But all is not as it appears, and when a working break away from LA turns into a strange misadventure, Alex and Miles must each decide where their real priorities lie, and how much they're willing to risk in order to attain their hearts' desires.

Will they find a way to repair their fragmented relationship? Or will they remain trapped in a nightmare from which neither one of them can ever wake up...?

One of my favourite fics ever and I cannot recommend the sequel 'Baby, He Can Find You' highly enough if you haven't read it yet!

2) All's Well That Ends Well (To End Up With You) by @yellowloid

Asking Miles to marry him is something Alex has been wanting to do for far too long now. After months of meticulous planning, the day has finally come ‒ and yes, maybe he's a bit nervous, but he's firm in his decision, and he can't wait to just get down on one knee and pop the question. Nothing ‒ nothing ‒ is going to get in his way.

The universe begs to differ.

This entire series is so beautifully written, but this particular fic owns my heart. Such a perfect balance between angst and warm fluff.

3) under these lights you look beautiful by @alexturne

Miles got completely lost in his voice. There was a faraway quality to it, like he belonged somewhere else entirely, but somehow had decided to grace them with his presence and Miles felt blessed to be near him if even for a short while. The subtle elegance hidden in his slender figure, the mannerisms of his fingers wrapped around the corners of his notebook. His words were spoken softly, quietly, but without any hesitation or faltering.

Alex is an elusive poet, who has a way with words and Miles is a bartender, who is completely mesmerized.

The queen of beautiful, heartfelt AUs! Every story of hers is like an escape into a warm hug, but this may be her magnum opus.

4) you cannot turn away (but nice try) by @kisameanslight

Alex Turner thought he got over the love of his life, but then they run into each other again a decade later. Whether they’ll be able to let the past go or not, only time will tell.

I have such fond memories of following this story as it came out and being kept on the edge of my seat with each new update. Her Vampire AU 'c'est horrifique!' is equally incredible 💖

5) The 'Amerlie' Series by @lanatural-books

Welcome to the universe of Amerlie.

All parts intertwine and should take you on an interesting adventure.

I can't begin to pick a favourite entry in this series so I'll simply recommend the whole thing. Such an exquisitely written, cosy love story between our favourite two idiots.

6) Joie de Vivre by @gasdancer

"Two young men decamp to rural France to make an album together. It ~is like love."

Possibly the best Baby Puppets fic/series ever written (and there's a lot of competition for that title). I have such a weakness for stories set in France during the recording of TAOTU so of course this series owns my heart.

7) Last night, what we talked about... by @rock-n-roll-fantasy

... it made so much sense... This little story came into being because of three obvious prerequisites: 1. Baby Monkeys were the cutest band in the world 2. Especially Baby Alex 3. Indie bands get drunk from time to time -> Conclusion: At least once, Baby Alex must have got too tipsy to walk back to the tourbus, so his equally tipsy friends had to take care of him. Further conclusion: It must have been very adorable :)

Not Milex, but just pure Baby Monkeys sweetness distilled into one adorably written fic. I'm in love 🥰

Just wanna say I love your writing both the gatty and milex stuff. I'm not as well versed in milex so I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for other milex fics you enjoy :)

Thank you!! I think I've read most of what's under the Milex tag on AO3 and there are so many amazingly talented authors there, so this could be a truly long list, but I'll just give you some of my favorites.

"Il eat cinq heures, les vampires s’éveillent" by LaNaturalBreezeOf_Books/ @lanatural-books on is something I return to and reread regularly. It's a vampire AU, which is something usually have mixed feelings about, but I love this fic so much. It's very well written and captures their relationship so wonderfully.

The "Satin and Lace" series by @yellowloid is something I also really love. It's wonderfully soft and domestic and very human.

I'm also kind of obsessed with "Inhale, Exhale (You've Always Been Like Breathing)" which is also by yellowloid. It's not finished but I'm invested in it.

The "This Is Your Life" series by @richiebrook is about fictional!Alex being at the end of a tour and having a depressive episode and eventually getting back together with fictional!Miles. I find it very comforting and realistic and is something I reread fairly regularly.

Có nên tẩy tế bào chết cho da dầu mụn?

Tẩy tế bào chết là bước làm sạch da cần thiết trong quy trình skincare hằng ngày đối với tất cả các loại da. Đặc biệt với làn da vừa bóng nhờn vừa nhiều mụn, chỉ tẩy trang và rửa mặt thôi là chưa đủ, cần kết hợp thêm bước tẩy tế bào chết để giải phóng lỗ chân lông khỏi bã nhờn, giữ cho da thông thoáng, ngăn chặn vi khuẩn tích tụ và tạo thành nhân mụn.

Các chị em đừng quá lo lắng việc tẩy tế bào chết sẽ khiến mụn trở nên nghiêm trọng. Điều đó rất khó xảy ra, trừ phi chúng ta thực hiện thao tác chà xát quá mạnh hoặc dùng sản phẩm tẩy da chết không phù hợp thì mới có thể dẫn đến vấn đề đối với da.

Trước khi tẩy tế bào chết cần làm gì?

– Xác định loại da, tình trạng da

Mỗi người sẽ sở hữu loại da khác nhau nên tùy từng loại da sẽ có những cách tẩy da chết phù hợp nhất. Tuy nhiên, để việc tẩy da chết phát huy hiệu quả, bạn cần xác định đúng loại da và nắm rõ tình trạng làn da của mình. Da được chia làm 4 loại phổ biến sau:

Da khô: Những người thuộc tuýp da khô sẽ thấy bề mặt da hơi căng, cảm giác luôn thiếu nước, thậm chí có dấu hiệu bong tróc da ở một vài vùng, bề mặt da thô sần thiếu độ bóng và rất dễ xuất hiện các nếp nhăn.

Da dầu, mụn: Da dầu là loại da ngược lại với da khô, luôn sản sinh quá nhiều dầu. Kết cấu dư thừa bã nhờn nên phải tiết bớt ra ngoài. Và không thể tự cân bằng lượng dầu trên da. Khiến gương mặt luôn bóng dầu, nhờn rít.

Da thường: Đó là làn da khỏe mạnh, có được sự cân bằng giữa nước và dầu. Lớp sừng luôn ở trong tình trạng đầy đủ độ ẩm. Có thể nói rằng, da thường được xem là loại da lý tưởng nhất và không khó khăn trong việc chăm sóc.

Da hỗn hợp: Loại da này thường có pha trộn giữa các đặc điểm của da thường hoặc khô với da dầu. Vị trí bị khô thường là ở hai bên má, còn vùng chữ T sẽ có khá nhiều dầu. Da hỗn hợp chia thành hai loại nhỏ là hỗn thiên dầu và hỗn hợp thiên khô.

Một số kiểu da khác:

Da nhạy cảm: Tình trạng da bị ngứa, châm chích, nóng rát, đỏ, căng sau khi tiếp xúc với các sản phẩm chăm sóc da, thức ăn, bụi bẩn hoặc các yếu tố khác từ môi trường. Do có nhiều yếu tố có thể gây tình trạng nhạy cảm ở da nên đôi khi không xác định được yếu tố cụ thể nào gây nên tình trạng nhạy cảm, khó chịu ở da.

Da mỏng, yếu: Hiện tượng xuất hiện các mảng bầm tím hoặc bong tróc, dễ rách. Đôi khi, lớp da mỏng đến mức trông giống như giấy lụa. Da mỏng thường phổ biến ở mặt, cánh tay, bàn tay, ảnh hưởng đến vẻ bề ngoài và chất lượng cuộc sống, đặc biệt là phụ nữ.

Da đang dị ứng, kích ứng: Tình trạng da phản ứng với những tác nhân như mỹ phẩm, hóa chất tẩy rửa, hóa chất tạo màu, hương liệu,… Chỉ có vùng da tiếp xúc với các tác nhân trên mới bị kích ứng.

– Làm sạch da

Trước khi tiến hành tẩy da chết mặt, bạn đừng quên làm sạch da với nước tẩy trang và sữa rửa mặt. Điều này sẽ giúp loại bỏ dầu nhờn và bụi bẩn bám trên da cũng như tích tụ trong lỗ chân lông.

Đối với da cơ thể, bạn nên tắm bằng nước ấm để làm nở lỗ chân lông và sử dụng sữa tắm phù hợp làm sạch da tốt nhất. Ngoài sữa tắm, chị em cũng có thể sử dụng thêm các dụng cụ hỗ trợ như bàn chải tắm, bông tắm,… Những dụng cụ tắm này sẽ giúp loại bỏ phần nào da chết, giúp quá trình tẩy da chết sau đó đơn giản và hiệu quả hơn.

Awww thank you, this is such a sweet idea! 🥰 I vaguely remember doing a variation of this already, so I'll stick to some more recent fics that I'm fond of:

1) I'll See You On The Dark Side of the Moon

Shadowmonkeys Big Bang my beloved 💖 I loved taking part in that project and thanks to the deadlines I ended up living with this story for months, constantly tweaking it and trying to get it right. It's rare that I get to spend that long with one particular fic, and even though I hit a wall a couple of times while writing this, I'm still very fond of how it turned out (and @rock-n-roll-fantasy's gorgeous art was an amazing bonus).

2) You've Always Been Here

It's been almost three years since I wrote this fic and I still often find myself thinking about it. It was a ridiculously fun, self-indulgent project that gave me an excuse to fall in love with 'Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino' and fall back in love with 'Simulation Theory', and my fondness for those albums will always be tied to my memories of writing this story. It was also my first AM-related fic and if I'd never taken that step, I would never have discovered so many amazing friends and writers in this fandom 💖

3) Is This What You Wanted

Technically cheating here because this is a sequel to 'You've Always Been Here', but they're different enough that I'm counting them separately 😅

4) This Is Going To Hurt

Proof that I probably shouldn't be allowed to write sickfics because my temptation is always to send my poor victim (in this case Alex) to hospital... As much as this one fought me every step of the way, I am fond of how it turned out and it gave me an excuse to be a medical geek for five whole chapters which is always fun (for me at least).

5) Hold Each Other Close the Whole Night Through

I stand by the opinion that fluff isn't my strength, but the response to this one was lovely and I did enjoy imagining the Baby Puppets living their best lives in France 🥰
