Everyone's reblogging that post about ADS (American Dialect Society) making "-ussy" the word of the year so... Just a reminder that American linguistics organizations like ADS and LSA (Linguistic Society of America) are tools of linguistic colonization.
LSA recently sided with a Czech linguist who scammed the Lakota nation and exploited their endangered language data. He told them they would own all the Lakota language learning materials he planned on creating with their data. He was lying. He copyrighted their data. Now, if they want to access their own language, they have to pay him for it.
So now there's a huge conflict. And the LSA is giving a huge platform to this Czech scammer while sidelining every dissenter. LSA wants to move on from the Lakota conflict with no one noticing what they did.
So, like a good little lackey, the ADS comes up with the most outrageous possible word of the year. -Ussy was actually most popular around 2017 and it's in decline now. It's not a relevant word to 2022, but it doesn't matter. ADS needed a viral word of the year so everyone would post about that instead of the LSA dumpster fire.
American linguists should not get to joke about language right now.

i remember reading on lsa a couple years ago that js and chris were already broken up by the SLoP premiere and that Chris showed up as part of pr cause js had just done that interview about chris’ heart being golden colored or whatever.
You're confusing the SLoP premiere, which happened in June 2016, with the Gifted premiere in April 2017.
Yes, they were very broken up by the time the Gifted premiere happened.

Shaun Patrick Livingston (September 11, 1985) is a basketball executive and former player. He entered the league directly out of high school and was selected fourth by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2004 NBA draft. In a 15-year professional career in the league, he played 959 games for nine teams and won three NBA championships as a Golden State Warrior— in 2015, 2017, and 2018. He suffered a debilitating knee injury that damaged almost every part of his left knee. It took him about a year and a half to return. Between 2008 and 2010 he played only 22 league games. He has played for the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, and Tulsa 66ers. He played his last five seasons in the league with the Warriors and retired from professional basketball in September 2019.
He was born in Peoria, Illinois. He led Concordia Lutheran Grade School to LSA state titles. He played competitive basketball in high school at Richwoods High School for two years and then transferred to Peoria Central High School, where he led his team to back-to-back Class AA state titles.
He was named Illinois Mr. Basketball and played in the McDonald’s All-American Game. He was voted one of the 100 Legends of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament for his superior performance in the tournament. Considered a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was listed as the #1 point guard and the #2 player in the nation in 2004. He committed to play college hoops at Duke but opted instead to make the jump to the NBA straight out of high school.
On September 15, 2020, the Golden State Warriors announced that they had named him as director of player affairs and engagement. He will be leaving his position at the end of the season. He won his fourth NBA championship after the Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics in six games in the 2022 NBA Finals. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Only two results came up for me. The post on LSA, and what looks like a Russian social media page from an Alba fan. You can see where she reposted the picture with the date of September of 2020. I’m not sure where the original copy of the photo was sourced from because she doesn’t say. So it really could even be older than the date shown on the fan post. I’ll post screenshots below as well as link the account if that’s something anyone wants to look at for themselves.🦎/ This photo is possible even from 2015-2017. I know Russian and this photo is in the “photos of friends” album along with photos from 2015.So most likely this is a very old photo, even older than 2020.
We know it’s from at least 2020, but it could definitely be older. So potentially moving even further from the 2022 narrative some are out there trying to spin.
Thank you for translating! 🦎

https://d3-graph-gallery.com/network.html。 一開始是用D3.js。 https://blog.pulipuli.info/2017/10/classification-and-prediction-bayesnet.html。 https://gojs.net/latest/samples/doubleCircle.html。 https://blog.pulipuli.info/2017/10/behavior-analysis-lag-sequential.html#postcatabehavior-analysis-lag-sequential.html0_anchor7。 https://www.sigmajs.org/。 https://codesandbox.io/examples/package/cytoscape-fcose。 最近在開發的專案改用了Cytoscape.js。

Had a person on LSA who theorized that the holding the dog story was about the trip to Australia which makes more sense as didn't her book release before the last trip to Disney in 2017?
No, she wrote the book in 2018 and it published in 2019. The press release for her book contract did release November 30, 2017. Perhaps that's what you're remembering. The Australia trip was November 2016.
Like I wrote before, you can follow her personal timeline in the book if you read closely. (Actually, not even that closely, you just have to look beyond the overboard twee-ness of her writing style.) "Holding the Dog" occurs not long after the chapter "I Died: Listening" which is 1000% about Chris. The "I Died: Listening" chapter is based around the discussion of issues with the MeToo allegations that brought down Harvey Weinstein. That's October-November 2017. "Holding the Dog" follows after that in the book structure, so it would definitely have to be the 2017 DW trip.
I read that damned book twice. I still have flashbacks.

Lol beyond laughter
This past weekend was the Linguistic Society of America annual meeting, and beyond participating in a panel myself with Gretchen from @allthingslinguistic and a lot of other exciting people, and interviewing some linguists for the future, I heard about a lot of really interesting research! So we’re going to be sharing some of this stuff for the next bit here.
First up: why do people use “lol”? It’s long since moved beyond just signaling that you’re actually laughing; it shows up in a lot of other contexts, too. But is there something that unites all lol’s uses? Michelle A. McSweeney decided to look at this question by checking when “lol” shows up in the Bilingual Youth Texts corpus, a collection of 45,597 messages donated by 15 Spanish/English bilingual 18-21 year olds in New York City. And “lol” is super common in those texts - it shows up 14% of the time. McSweeney went and tagged all those “lol”s with what they were meant to communicate in the text.
So like, "lol” shows up in cases with flirting:
1: What you guys doing?
2: Hablando lol
1: About me I bet
2: Lol un poco
Or with requesting empathy:
1: Me alegro <3 (I’m happy <3)
2: Lol estoy haciendo un ensayo :’(   (Lol I’m writing an essay :’( )
Or with hedging confrontation, trying to defuse tension from situations, etc. But where don’t you find it? Well, you don’t get it in small talk; in expressing love for another person (so no “I love you lol”); in direct statements of fact or questions. So what’s different between these?
McSweeney argues that it comes down to what you want to do with your speech act when you’re texting. It’s a marker that a message isn’t meant to be read literally, that the force of your text should be read in between the lines. Specifically, the illocutionary force, or the intended effect of what the person is saying. “lol” is a mismatch sign. You want your “I love you” to actually mean “I love you”; “lol I’m writing an essay” is more of a sign that you want some friendly support than a report on your activities.
When we talk face to face, or over the phone, there are lots of other markers - in our tone of voice, facial expression, gestures, prosody, and more - that tell us this information. But with text, we’re lacking all of those things. Instead, we’ve morphed “lol” into that kind of marker. Which is perhaps why it shows up so much in our texts. ^_^

Horny on lsa is stating that is BA in the 2017 pictures and now pushing the sm/pp narrative again and that P dated BA. But it that was March 2017 he certainly wasn't dating anyone as he said in that interview.
I have heard horror stories of that site. And this is just more speculations that not one person can accurately state is true.

Plant, i saw this analysis on LSA which was written by a Brit on the power play in the RF and I believe its spot on.
1. I don't think Harry would have tagged along with the Cambridges if William didn't want him to. William has way more influence than he likes to give off.
I think William was one of Harry's enablers and was being protective. I think he genuinely felt protective of him, and felt that he was safer under his care than covered by their father's office. He knew Harry's limitations and wanted to protect him, their mother was gone.
I also think it suited William not to emphasise his rank when he was still part-time. I think he was dealing privately with his own demons, still coming to terms with the weight of his role and responsibilities, and wanted, together with Catherine, to build a stable family life that will serve as a foundation for their work when they go full-time.
I think he was quite happy not to demarcate between him and Harry, and let Harry take the spotlight while he sorted himself out. He knew his position was waiting for him and will only increase with his responsibilities so he could afford to let Harry enjoy his time in the limelight.
I think things began to change between the brothers mid 2016 (the Queen's 90th). I suspect that they were informed internally that the DoE would be retiring the next year and that William would need to wrap up his contract and take up full time duties. The media clamour for William to come on full time also reached fever pitch but I think the internal decision was independent of that.
I think that's when the pin dropped for Harry re time running out for him and he started getting contacts to set him up with any celebrity that fit the bill.
William did an interview with BBC 2016 on not staying awake waiting to be King, absolutely refusing to elaborate on what his monarchy would look like, despite pressure from the interviewer. In 2017, unprompted, Harry decided to let us know nobody wanted to be King, and what he would do if he was King. I think William then realised that he'd led Harry on a bit unintentionally, and was ready to start damping those expectations.
They moved down to London August 2017, announced their pregnancy October, Harry announced his engagement November. The rest is familiar history.
In effect, William was protective of Harry, possibly aware of the brooding resentment Harry had for him but felt he could contain it, till Harry tried to openly challenge him, then he kicked him out from everything, office, residence, foundation. He has no qualms defending his authority. He is not without influence in the palace. See Dan Wootton's story implying the Queen banned Meghan from wearing Diana's jewellery from the RC in response to William's concerns. I believe it. I think William had good reasons for those concerns but the key point is that he has more influence than many people realise.
I genuinely think Harry never expected that the outcome from his manifesto would be as drastic as it was. The real reason was that William stopped being part of the Harry enablement team. Once he pulled out, that was it for Harry. He was out. He is still reeling from that.
______________________________________________________________________
I’m very torn about posting this submission because I hate “stealing” posts from other sources, particularly LSA. However, this person makes awesome points.
I’ve been wondering for a while about Will’s role in all of this. For most of 2016-2017 I was pretty sure he was full-on enabling the Harkles. In fact, I was completely shocked when the Foundation split was announced and the rumors about the wedding drama came out. This analysis about how guilt may have led him to enable Harry’s nonsense, and how he may have had to pull back after the wedding resonates with me, in particular the part about Will’s 2016 interview and Harry’s Newsweek interview and how they may have been connected.
I agree that Will has more influence than people realize.
I hope the original poster doesn’t mind that I’m reposting. If they do, let me know so I can take it down. I now I’m skating close to the edge here.

This Brazilian girl getting catfished reminded of how many South American, Russian and Asian fans get catfished. Like idk of they're delusional or don't have much idea about celebrities and live in their fantasy world. Btw,the South American and Asian stats is something I got from someone else, but the Asian one I've seen irl(because I'm Asian and this issue spans across the whole continent from what I've seen)
Like I remember on LSA a woman who's been moderating CE fan pages since forever(she said she's been a fan before he got worldwide fame) was shocked by the amount of young girls who thought her fan page was his personal profile and sent him n*des and lewd photos. Most of them were minors at that! She was super concerned and even after sending out PSAs her page would get such messages. Also back in 2017-2018 or maybe 2019, remember Chris had to tweet that there's some impersonator online going around asking people for money? Like fuck man, that has to be so fucking stressful to live with!
Though I cannot tell with the twitter kids tbh. Their humor is so fucking weird......or maybe we're right in seeing their desperate and delusional acts while they call it off as humor 🙄
Seriously tho I saw a pretty famous CE IG account photoshop a picture that Chris himself wished him on his birthday and while I could tell his friends were in on the joke congratulating him, some regular people did definitely think it was a 100% real and he even replied back saying it was real(I know this because this kid had a famous Twitter fan account but deleted it a few months back, like he's famous for coming up with BS like that. He made the April Fool's post about People's magazine reporting that Chris was in a relationship with some nice girl from Boston)
1) You always gotta be careful online, because you will never know if you're talking to the person they say they are. As for those actually thinking they might be talking to Chris... Well, don't fall for that trap and ignore those accounts.
2) As for the trolling fam, I think there are 2 different types of trolls and fakes: those who do it for "fun" and those who do it for clout attention. I don't find either funny nor interesting, bit the difference is that the first ones are directly admitting they're trolling and lying, while others keep trying to make others believe it's true. A bit clearer: one is harmless and the other tries to cause drama
