And I’m gonna be a little cringe/annoying bc I LOVE your music taste and I’ve been nervous about sharing this bc I feel like my music taste isn’t very…. Refined? Yeah let’s call it that. But I think maybe you’ll get it, SO. Do you listen to Dead Poet Society. Either way can I suggest four songs in particular, particularly with Starbreaker in mind.

HI holy shit sorry this reply is so late but i did listen to all of these (AMAZING songs btw absolutely going in the rotation) and these lyrics stood out to me as SO starbreaker

i think everyone knows how i feel about jace getting strangled to death in their marital bed <3. there's something so intimate about it despite the brutality. when porter loves him so much that nothing can get in the way of their plan, not even jace himself, so he has to kill him and bind his soul to porter's forever to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. and then once he's a god, jace can have everything he wants, and it'll have all been worth it

is it pretentious to compare one of the greatest tragic protagonists of all time to. porter cliffbreaker a villain from a comedy d&d show? yes. but starbreaker tumblr is a collaborative art project and ive brought old copies of books for decoupage.

Dead Poet Society - -!- (2021)

This album has been one of my favorites from the last few years. It’s a clever, unique fusion of bluesy metal, grunge rock, and pop-punk. I really need to check out more music from this band as I’ve listened to this album religiously. I’m excited to see what their other works are like.

The riffs utilized in the opening tracks are heavy and energetic. Following the openers with a pop-punk track is clever. It adequately sets up listener expectations for what the music is gonna be: heavy, fun, but still radio friendly. I know some people have some biases against music that sounds built for radio, but there’s an energy in this album (which is aided by the heavy riffs) that keeps it sounding fresh and not manufactured for plays.

Additionally, I’m always intrigued when artists add voice messages to their albums. There are three in -!-, which you can tell are going to be spoken as the title is bookended by -. I assume it is the band members speaking in the tracks, and it gives off the impression of a recording of a late-night discussion. They cover topics such as seeing through manufactured personas and the gift of creating art about the human experience. That, of course, always runs the risk of sounding pretentious or out of touch, but I appreciate them. I like the honesty and vulnerability.
